El Tajin Mexican Restaurant

This is a small and authentic Mexican food place. Cute cozy and we did thr "to good to go" deal.. got to meals for 5.99.. get the app, book the deal pick up by 7pm. Quick easy. Not fancy but tasty.

Cute little find near a new area I'm still exploring. Floored by the negative reviews because I had the complete opposite experience, maybe they are working more towards improving their custome service. We were treated very nice, placed the order and our food was brought out to our table. We order burritos and they were honestly sooooo delicious. Tried chicken and steak, the chicken one had a bit more spice but not overly spicy and the steak had wonderful flavor. I could taste the flavorful rice and cheese combination and the guacamole in it was perfectly citrusy. Can't wait to go back and try more food, they definitely deserve a chance and I'm always rooting for our local businesses. So best of luck y muchos exitos!!!

Love this place! Food is delicious and the workers are very kind. It was a delightful find inside a plaza, totally worth eating here. So much variety! I loved the enchiladas with verde sauce and the birria tacos. Very yummy 😋

I'm a regular for takeout here. Multiple gluten-free options! Green chicken enchiladas, chicken flautas, or carne asada tacos are my go-tos. They also have good rice and beans. I generally get take out. Be sure to take a moment to look around when you pop in to pick it up. They have beautiful murals on the wall.

Leaving this review solely on the steak tacos, chicken taco, and guacamole I had. Everything tasted delicious and made with LOVE! I would definitely come back. Restaurant looks super clean which is a plus! I don’t what these other reviews are talking about. Happy my experience was great! Give it a try!

Horrible experience here the meet was all chewy I tried to put up with it because I don’t like to complain but it was so unfathomable Then I pretty much spit most of the food out. When I voice, my concern to the owner, she try to make me feel bad for eating half of the food, even though half of it was spit out and try to nickel and dime me for the reimbursement of giving me a new order. Horrible customer service now is we why it’s rated 3 star and help wanted signs all over the establishment. If you wanna fix your business, get quality meat and do not nickel and dime your customers when they are unhappy with the food.

I ordered flautas but this is what I got instead. The chicken didn’t even look like chicken because it was so over cooked. In the end I ended up just eating the tortilla with the sauce they provided.

Went fast to get a piece of flan and didn’t pay attention to the expiration date until I was about to eat it, how is this even possible?? Selling expired stuff, absolutely disgusting.

First time trying this joint out instead of going to our usual spot in town, ordered through DoorDash. My burrito came half wrapped in tin foil (E for effortless) Sour cream was expired that it could make a maggot gag. Quesadilla looks like something I've never seen before (not a compliment). I called to express my issues and the receptionist was emotionless, almost as if this happens often. Needless to say we'll never order from here again.

This is the best Mexican in Park Ridge my fat. The Birria Burrito is outstanding. The tacos are fantastic as well

The food Served was cold, and I called to let them know they forgot something in my order and wasn't accommodating or apologetic. Terrible experience and please save yourself the time

Overall ** Apparently they have been open for a year but I had no idea. Looking for something different for lunch I thought I would give them a try. I think they are trying but I gave up on my lunch after fighting it for four or five bites, threw it away and went somewhere else. Setting *** Fast take out type of place with a few seats. It is generally pleasant without anything stand out but there was an overwhelming cleaning chemical smell at 11am. I suppose that could be considered a good thing or a bad thing. Service *** Friendly and pleasant without adding much in the way of value though. It took me a while to read through the menu board and when I asked questions they were met with limited feedback. Food ** I ended up ordering a Chicken Chimichanga which was huge and beautifully presented, unfortunately it was also incredibly disappointing. It wasn't crispy like expected and more like a baked burrito. That would have been fine except for that nearly the entire filling was just black beans. I like black beans but there must have a pound of them and I had to hunt to find any chicken. The chicken itself had a rubbery texture and the whole thing was just tasteless. Value ** With a drink I was around $15 which for what I received certainly wasn't worth it.

HORRIBLE I ordered 4 tacos. I took 3 bites into my taco and I feel somthing hard, like a bone. I open the taco and there I see a 2 1/2 inch dry wall nail IN MY TACO. I immediately loose my appetite. I bring the taco back with the nail. And the employee does not even care. She did not show any concern. Almost like this had happened before. DO NOT EAT HERE there was a large dry wall nail in my taco that almost chipped my tooth.

We usually order from El Tajin when our go to place is closed (La Morenita). The past few times, El Tajin's carnitas tacos have been all fat. I'm talking about no meat at all, just a taco full of pork fat, onions, and cilantro. There's no way the person who prepared the tacos didn't see this, they even put a lot of extra cilantro on this all fat taco, probably in hopes I wouldn't notice it. I wish I saved it to take a pic, but I just gave it to my dog. The steak in the stead tacos was dry, like super dry. They've also forgotten the sauce for the churros (sauces are $1 extra). Their guacamole is gritty-I've never had gritty guac before and I don't know what's going on. And the chips that came with it were stale/not crunchy at all. We've gave them about 4 tries already, as we believe every restaurant has a bad day and deserves another chance. But each time we've ordered from El Tajin, there's been issues. There are other Mexican restaurants that don't do things like this.

I'm a delivery driver who is typically allowed to use the bathroom at any given restaurant. However, I've been refused access to their bathroom twice now and I find that completely rude and disrespectful. I will never give them my business ever again.

Place sucks. Ordered delivery and more than half of order was missing. Plus it took 90 minutes. Driver was waiting at restaurant a long time on food. How can you f' up an order so badly? Ordered 6 tacos received 2. Ordered half rotisserie chicken (2 pieces-1 breast 1 drumstick) but they forgot the side and 3 soft tortillas. You can't fix stupid. El Azteca is right around the corner. Do yourself a favor and order from there.

Don't waste your money! Awful! Ordered chicken fajitas and received basically a block of cheese with a lot of bacon and few small pieces of chicken. Absolutely disgusting and should be ashamed of what they are serving their customers. Who even puts cheese and bacon chunks in fajitas?! Never again will we come here!

Ordered pretty basic takeout. I guess ppl who left 5stars had a very different experience, but my food was just plain not good. Salsa was fresh, counter service was friendly. 2stars for that.

Ordered chicken and steak street tacos. Both dry meat and no flavor, won't be coming back

Food was cold when it got delivered and it was missing items that I had ordered. I had to go back and forth with the cashier on the phone to tell her how she messed up my order because I wanted a refund. I ended up having to actually drive there the next day to sort things out. Will never be ordering from this place again.

Saw the low score and felt I needed to give my input. Grew up in Southern California and Mexican food is by far my favorite. Stumbled across El Tajin late one night on Uber Eats. Ordered the steak burrito... bangin! This is the first spot I've found that makes a good burrito. Rice, beans, steak, quac, cheese... perfect mix of it all. Not quite sure why there are so many 1 star reviews, in my opinion this place is better than El Azteca.

Loved our dishes from El Tajin! We got a chorizo burrito, a 1/4 rotisserie chicken, a tamale, a spinach quesadilla, and a side of chips & guacamole. Everything was delicious! The prices were great and the portions were large! Plus it was ready fast! We'll definitely order from here again!

Tonight was the third time we've ordered food from El Tajin in the last 30 days. Each time has been better than the last. Delicious food, very friendly staff and very reasonably priced! We've had the plantains, tamales, tacos and chimichangas...all delicious. I'm from Arizona and my wife is Colombian...so we no good Latin food when we taste it! What a gem in Park Ridge!!

This is the worst Mexican food I have ever had. The meat tasted old and it was extremely dry. The soft taco shells were soggy, and the flavor was just awful. Plus the food was barely warm. Save your money and don't eat here. I can name two other restaurants that won't disappoint and one is around the corner from this mistake .

Ehhh. I feel like everything here, besides the guacamole, needs salt. I tried the tamales and the quesadilla and they both lacked seasoning. The guacamole is delicious though.

I thought I would give this place a try. On Friday at 8:30 I stopped in to look at the menu and order some food for my family. When I went to the counter I saw one girl in the kitchen and one girl bent down in front of the counter putting something away. When the girl got up from under the counter, she looked at me, then turned around and walked into the kitchen without so much as saying anything, The two girls began talking to one another which left me at the counter staring at the wall. After a minute I knew they were not going to wait on me. I guess since they had another 1/2 hour before they we to close. I know it is difficult to find competent help but I can see this place has no future. I went up the street to Bubbakoo's Burritos, got great service and food. I am glad I spent $70.00 at a place that services it's customers.

I'm Mexican, as in born and raised... And this place hits the spot, as does La Morenita in Hillsdale. There's lots of variability in Mexican food - even from one place to the next in Mexico... And while there are some things I prefer over others, the food here reminds me of eating at someone's house late at night or early morning... Or at a stand at a market. Not fancy but totally satisfying. One thing I would change would be to massively up the spice level in the sauces or maybe to give Valentina, Perrona or Bufalo salsa instead... But I obviously have amazing hot sauce situations at home, so I don't really care too much, because I have only gotten takeout. Don't sweat the low reviews.

I spotted the place while grabbing frozen yogurt next door. Went back later for 1/2 a rotesserie chicken. It was actually quite amazing and reminded me of Peruvian chicken. The black beans side was really good. Glad I found the place!!

We excitedly ordered takeout at the prospect of a new Mexican restaurant in town. We ended up throwing away most of our meal because it truly was inedible. The elote was drowned in sour mayo, the steak chalupas were flavorless and the tortilla was stale, and the chicken flautas were completely overcooked and dry. No sauces of any kind were given either. Definitely will not be ordering from here again - I get that it's a new restaurant, but the whole order was so bad that it really makes me question why they're in the food business.

This restaurants sucks, I don't know why this restaurant says "Mexican restaurant" when they don't serve authentic Mexican food. Not only that the food it's disappointing, the service sucks. Even if I was to order from their take out website I will get my food 2 hours later. Just unbelievable how long it takes to make and send a taco. You can't run a business without good service.

El Tajin is fairly new, but if you haven't gone - you have to try it! Delicious, authentic Mexican food at extremely reasonable prices. We love this place!

Food is ok but service was really bad. Girl taking orders struggled to take our order correctly and I saw several other people come in and out waiting/not having orders/finding errors. She also didn't know how to use the credit card machine, which I found out out resulted in my card being charged two times. I'd probably come back in a few months hoping they've worked it out or have someone else at the front to make the experience smoother.
