Google
A nice and cozy place if you love Mexican cuisine. Their food tastes delicious and portions are generous. Servers are pleasant.

Simple, yet welcoming restaurant serving plentiful and delicious food. The decor is very colorful and like the food, feels authentic. Service is a mix between "Hi, sit here and this is the menu" and "Get up to ask for a desert and pay the smiling lady on your way out". I am not complaining, just an observation - it's just small enough where this level of attention is just fine and the exit reminds me of Nudy's, which is a very pleasant, diner-like experience. The food was delicious and inexpensive. We might have another dinner and a half left from it. Especially the burrito - just you look at that thing! My fajitas were crisp, with great flavors through and through, and piping hot so I couldn't just dig in and eat (again, not a complaint). We received a recommendation to come here and overall, it didn't disappoint at all. We love supporting small, local businesses and think that we'll definitely be back sevaral times in the near future! Thank you!

Google
Good food, great dessert, but slow service, and the remodel is already coming undone We trid this restaurant for the first time. I heard it was remodeled after the flood about a year and a half ago but it looks like parts are coming apart especially the flooring. Other than that the decor is cute and I like that they play Mexican music. When you get there you seat yourself which is normal at places like this but we weren't given menus so I went up to get them. We got our complementary chips twice before our food, which I think took a little longer than average about 30 minutes. I had to go back up front because they forgot our drinks. The complimentary chips and salsa were pretty good and so was the rest of the food we got, but I really loved the tres leches cake. I'll definitely be going back to just get slices of that cake. Although I really don't like the chicken tamale, it was very bland and barely had any chicken or green sauce. The prices were reasonable so I can definitely see us going back again.

Google
For anyone wanting to enjoy authentic Mexican food, this place hits the spot perfectly! The plate sizes were generous and everything was tasty. Don't forget to ask for a piece of Tres Leches for dessert afterwards, because you will not regret it!

Google
Very nice place. Surprisingly good food. We got the chicken fajitas and burrito illegal. Service was fast and friendly.

Kevin Jones

Google
I've only ordered burritos, chips, and salsa for takeout. The burritos are hefty. Borderline knife and fork required due to how packed they are! They are quick, friendly, and very well-priced for the quantity.

Nick Balun

Google
Best tacos around, also can’t forget the homemade chips and the amazing deserts they have to offer. Will definitely be returning for more great food!

Google
Had a meeting nearby and decided to stop in for a quick lunch and it was very good. 3 Carne Asada tacos and a heaping serving of rice was more than I could finish off. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Holy cow, Sleeper alert! These guys totally rocked the house from the Ceviche, to the fish and meat tacos, to the guacamole, chips, sauces. The trece Leche cake was phenomenal -- out of this world . We're talking about a full blown dinner for 50 bucks with tip.? in the immortal words of Arnold, "I'll be back"... Spent 5 years covering Mexico. These guys are the real deal. And BYOB to boot.

Sanya K.

Yelp
I wish there was a choice for negative stars! Am sorry but have to be honest and genuine about our experience. We ordered a simple Taco salad and specified it to be vegetarian. And a tortas sandwich also vegetarian. Since they were going to close in half hour they asked to do a take out. Brought it home and found they put chicken in it. Too big of quantities but all a waste! Took a bite and found it just terrible. I didn't know Mexican can ever taste this bad. I don't recommend this restaurant and please save your money!

Yelp
Excellent place, great food and amazing value. The place is clean and inviting once you get to seating area. Entrance looks like place is tiny, it is not. Plenty street parking at least on Sunday lol. Extensive menu, this time I tried tamales and torta Cubana. Pork tamale was great. Torta was amazing! Still have to go back and taste many other dishes.

Yelp
Review from a Mexican-American: Born in California, but lived in Mexico for a few years, so I know authentic Mexican flavors. This area of PA can be tricky to find authentic good Mexican food, and finding reviews from credible sources is rare, so I want to make sure El Trarasco gets credit for its good service and great menu options. The outside may look daunting, but inside is rather small but welcoming with cleanliness and Mexican decor. The food platters are plentiful, and all very delicious. We were a party of 9, and all had a variety of dishes, and everyone left happy and satisfied. Definitely try this place for good food.

Yelp
Easy online ordering for pickup. Confusing when they offer to bring it curbside but when you call they tell you to come in? Chips and salsa were standard and good. The burritos are all large and massive. If you don't like an ingredient just say that you have an allergy otherwise it's like to be missed. Do be mindful - there maybe other random ingredients in your dish you didn't plan for (in the Burrito Illegal, it does not list pineapple, but there the chunks were. Overall decent Mexican food, will be back.

Yelp
Two words: chips and salsa..OK that's three but you get the point. I get their chips and salsa twice a month, it's that good. H Haven't had a bad meal here, including catering orders. Lovely family runs the place as well

Daniella G.

Yelp
Whoever answers your phones needs a lesson in manners and communication skills. Not only did they tell me they didn't have what I ordered they still managed to overcharge me for the food they didn't even have. Definitely will be telling others not to patron at your establishment because of your service and money gouging. I would give you a 0 if I could

Yelp
Tasty hidden Mexican place. I had probably one of the biggest sandwiches I've ever seen here. I was pleasantly surprised by how big and good it was. Good prices too. Would like to go back again sometime!

Yelp
I did take out. Got the shrimp ceviche and the tres leches. I've eaten Ceviche at many different places I have to say this one is at the bottom of the list. It tasted more like a citrus shrimp salad. They do give you a lot of shrimp but the shrimp is cheap farm-raised. And there was no avocado which I was disappointed about. It wasn't bad per se just not how I expected Ceviche to be made. It tasted bare to me for some reason. The tres leches was delicious.

Yelp
Great food. A regular go to for Mexican take out. Love the tostada Al pastor......friendly service and fair prices. Best in the ateay

Denise K.

Yelp
We went here several years ago, and I still remember the Molcahete (sp?). It was phenomenal, and for just me, it provided several meals of leftovers. So tasty!! Yes. It's a dive in terms of ambiance or lack thereof, but they make the BEST Mexican food! Now I'm going back ASAP! Service was fine when we went but it wasn't crowded.

Yelp
Doesn't look like anything from the street but when you walk inside you'll feel like you're in Abuela's kitchen! Take a seat in the cozy dining room and help yourself to a drink from the fridge. Just let the sweet girl who does everything but fry the food know and she'll add it to your bill. This is authentic Mexican food. Fresh, made to order and so delicious. The prices are fair too. If you're searching for homemade Mexican food made and served by Ubuela herself, come on over...you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
We ordered takeout from here this past weekend and were not disappointed. Loved the enchiladas with mole. Nice sized portion with rice and beans (beans were a bit soupy but ok). We also ordered the shrimp a la Diabla which was pretty spicy (watch for the after-burn) but was enjoyed by all. We would definitely order from here again. Parking is the challenging thing here. Dining room is small but there are also a couple o

Yelp
Went for dinner the other night and had a nice meal. The salsa was okay, but the guac was good. The chips were awesome! Nice and thick, crispy, perfect for guac. The veggie fajitas were awesome and I got a huge portion. I used the left over veggies for toppings on 2 meals I made later at home.

America F.

Yelp
The food here is beyond amazing. Maria, the owner, and her staff are friendly and attentive to their guests. I can't name one excellent meal because they are ALL excellent! And the guacamole is out of this world!Portions are generous and the meal is always hot--even when doing takeout. Being a local business owner within walking distance, I am thrilled to have this restaurant as my go-to for quality, authentic Mexican food. The restaurant itself is sparkling clean. Skip the big chains and give this small, local restaurant a shot! You'll be hooked! I highly, highly recommend!!

Yelp
I'm Mexican so when ordering Mexican food out, I judge restaurants by the quality of the rice and beans. They were both delicious! We ordered using their website which was super easy. When picking up the food, the restaurant was cozy and CLEAN and the staff was very friendly! Everything tasted great. Our only complaint was that we wanted more rice and beans because they were so good.

Jackie C.

Yelp
Fresh, hot and delicious food every single time. Staff is always friendly and you will not leave hungry. Totally recommend for authentic Mexican cuisines!

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Our neighbourhood place so don't want it crowded! Always get a smile and they know my orders and I don't stray far from the guacamole and the burrito Santa Fe but know that I could. They have Mexican fruit sodas that I really like. Pretty authentic and not tex mex!

ronald b.

Yelp
Excellent. Beans and rice tastes freshly made and not a lot of salt to hide the taste like other similar restaurants. I had fajitas mixtape which had a great mix of chicken, beef, shrimp and veggies. A great plus, they don't skimp on the tortillas that most places do so you always have to ask for more. I had to ask for a doggie bag so plenty of food. Service little slow if you're in a rush . Overall, very good.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Downingtown! If you want authentic and delicious this little place is the place to go. Dining room is comfortable, warm and intimate. Plenty of chips and delicious chips to start and the best guacamole ever! Burritos are huge and the sauces are bursting with flavor. Tacos are the real deal!

Yelp
First time at the restaurant. Did takeout and everything was delicious! Cute place and friendly staff.

Yelp
First visit to this restaurant. Guacamole and chips were good. Salsa was tasteless. Burrito was cold and chicken dry. Wouldn't substitute black beans for refried beans. Fajitas were average. Tomato was served as a slice not chopped. No sour cream. Just seemed to be lacking fresh ingredients.

Yelp
My wife and I love the food from here and having been going since we moved to the area over 14 years ago. Our favorite is the Molcajete with an order of Guac, easily enough for 2,from their menu "A large molcajete bowl filled with grilled chicken, beef, marinated pork, chorizo, and Mexican cheese. All meats are grilled over a spicy salsa. Choice of spicy or medium salsa". Served with tortillas. We order Medium and it still has some nice heat, my wife throws on top of a salad and then tops with their ridiculously good guacamole, I add some of the salsa verde they make in house when we get home and I get the wonderful corn tortillas It may very well be Keto / Atkins friendly (there is possibility that there is very small amount of sugar in the chorizo, and possibly the spices). We love it.

Yelp
Great AUTHENTIC tasting Mexican food. Burrito Illegal is one of the best burritos I've had outside of the south. Good environment and service. Only complaint would be that they don't stay open any later for late night snacks but that's completely understandable as it seems to be a family owned establishment. Highly recommend!

Kate M.

Yelp
Checked Yelp review prior to trying El Tarasco. Photos and reviews were 4 stars so naturally decided to try it. I ordered Enchiladas (Rojo - 2 chicken/2 cheese). The cheese was solid and cold in both, the chicken was bone dry and flavorless, and the four Enchiladas looked to have been reheated from who knows when...the sauce was more a dry rub stain on corn tortillas. Very disappointing considering the prior reviews/pictures available. As for it being listed as "Quiet" , the speaker was obnoxiously loud, a couple came in and moved due to the same. We were finishing our meal when it was turned on and was a welcome distraction from the disgusting food. My wife ordered the burrito carnitas which initially looked packed with meat, cheese, etc....nope...all rice with maybe a tablespoon of pork. The single thing that was good (from my order) was the rice.

Yelp
This is a true authentic Mexican gem right in the Downingtown borough. It's BYO. The chips and salsa taste like you're on vacation in the heart of Mexico. The food is all freshly prepared. My four kids love this place! And I feel like I'm on one of my past Mexican adventures.

Dawn B.

Yelp
The food is authentically Mexican, always delicious, and well-priced. We usually order out, and the order is usually ready on time. They take a little longer than many restaurants to get the food ready, but I think that's because they put extra effort for excellent food quality.
google avatar

Yelp
A nice small place (BYOB) casual dining nothing fancy . Get the guacamole it's made fresh and Somme of the best I have had ! I got the chimichanga and it was stuffed with chicken the rice was so good we ordered another side of it . They have takeout the service ce waS good too.

Yelp
Wow, this place is crazy tasty! I got myself some enchilada verdes and guacamole for take out and I was really pleased. There was not a long wait at all, even though I was a walk-in. The decor inside leaves something to be desired, but this is clearly a place that prides itself on the food, so it really doesn't matter. Parking is nearby, but it's all street parking, so you might have to walk a block. The guacamole was made fresh and came with lots of cilantro, tomatoes, and onions. The most interesting thing about it was the consistency-- more chunky than creamy, but I liked it-- great flavors. The biggest drawback is that the chips are not included with any dish. It's a bummer, but you can order a good-sized bag of chips for a dollar, so I wasn't too unhappy. The green pepper sauce on the enchiladas was just the right amount of spicy for me-- it had a kick, but it didn't make my tongue fall out. Nice big chunks of steak-- and lots of it, too. Yummy Mexican food on the whole.

Yelp
Itching to get out of the house on a Saturday, we decided to give El Tarasco a try. It's a little Mexican dive restaurant with good food and ok service. My husband got the molcajete which was enormous and so delicious. The blend of different meats with the sauce was just perfection! I got pork tacos Mexican style which were also good. We ordered guacamole but didn't get to try it because our waitress forgot to bring it out. We also waited about 40-45 minutes to get our entrees. They seemed to be super busy with take out orders, so I'm happy they gave us free chips and salsa while we waited. The women working the front counter were so friendly. Everything on the menu is priced nicely. I think next time we'll order take out for a quicker experience.
google avatar

Yelp
I was raised on TexMex food, and for a long time you couldn't find Mexican food anywhere here in the NorthEast. To find a Mexican restaurant in the middle of Pennsylvania was a treat. I would give the food 3 stars, but the fact that you can get it at all in central PA adds another star :)

Karla P.

Yelp
Have eaten here many times. The food is always very good, the restaurant is clean and staff is friendly. Guacamole is made fresh and is the best! Tried other Mexican restaurants in the area but they don't compare to El Tarasco!
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
I'm not from Mexico, nor am I of Mexican or Latino decent. There. I like Tex-Mex. I don't like authentic Mexican. The tongue taco was scary. Sorry. Maybe authentic Mexicans love this place.
google avatar

Kirsten D.

Yelp
This was a new addition to GrubHub so i crossed my fingers and ordered. I was so glad I did! This is Authentic Mexican food, not the Americanized version. I ordered the enchiladas with chicken and it does come with beans and rice (doesn't say so online). Everything was great and I will definitely be ordering again soon!
google avatar

Deandre B.

Yelp
The food slaps and the family that runs this place are so sweet and make it enjoyable to come here
google avatar

Yelp
We always like to be adventurous and choose local dives over chains when we travel so we thought we'd give it a shot. Staff was nice but a bit slow. Very much a local authentic dive. Food was good but not great. Tacos were good but don't come with anything on the side. Byob and no fountain drinks. If I was in the area again and wanted mexican, we'd likely try another restaurant.

Vicki M.

Yelp
I came Mexican restaurant order my taco with taco had no flavor at all and also order a tostada de ceviche in was so warm I never in my life tasted such horrible tostada

K B.

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE El Tarasco! My husband has always loved authentic Mexican food, and when he found El Tarasco he was thrilled -- their food is excellent and portions are great. All of our kids love this place too, and often go themselves. Highly recommend anyone in search of really good, authentic Mexican to give them a try. If you like spice, my husband recommends the Molcajete bowl (try the high heat if you're really brave!).
google avatar

Chloe S.

Yelp
Best burritos in town without a doubt! Freshest ingredients, best salsa in the world (I usually live in Los Angeles, trust me), I'm vegan and the wait staff is always so accomadating and friendly! Great selection of drinks, big menu. Amazing fresh guac. I love the wet burritos. Everything is around $10 and huge portions. Such great staff, most authentic Mexican food I've found in the area, great for families and dates and meat eaters and vegetarians alike! More people need to know about this place!!
google avatar

Dtown P.

Yelp
Best Mexican food! Fish was amazing! Friendly staff and smooth transaction. I ordered through grub hub and food was ready before I got there! Will order from them again!
google avatar

Sheila G.

Yelp
We went here for lunch. The chips and salsa were awful. The chips were cold and very hard. The salsa was juice with a couple of onions. Also had guacamole which was chunks of avocado, tomatoes, onions and cilantro. It would have been better if they took the time to mash it up and cut the tomatoes smaller. Really the worst chips and salsa I've ever had. The steak in my burrito had good flavor but the beans and rice were not very good. The rice had no flavor. Everything had pinto beans in them. My daughter's chicken in her quesadilla tasted like can chicken and had very little cheese. The food wasn't awful. It wasn't good either. No flavor! I had to get up and ask for hot sauce. The service was ok. The atmosphere was NOT very good at all. My husband thought his fried quesadilla was pretty good and he liked the beans.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places and am currently plotting to get back there again soon! LOVE LOVE LOVE the guac, and its a must try. chunky and oh so perfect on anything They start of the meal with a nice basket of chips and 2 kinds of salsa plenty of choices for fans of burritos cute byob

Yelp
I think about Mexican food probably more often than any would believe possible. And I've visited Rincon Tarasco for the past several years. (It used to be called Las Comadres. I don't know why it changed; but that occurred a few years ago.) Don't go here for the ambience. You'll be disappointed. Don't go here for the convenient parking, bar service, or white-gloved waiters. But please go here if you appreciate good, straightforward Mexican food. This is a family restaurant that offers authentic Mexican food. They offer take-out, and the food is prepared in a kitchen area that is comfortingly visible, at the front of the restaurant. The menu is reasonably diverse, and includes items that are more traditional Mexican. My personal favorite is the Huarache. This is a large, hand made corn tortilla stuffed with your choice of meat. There are several varieties offered, but Rincon Tarasco does al pastor (pork marinated in pineapple and spices) better than anyone else in the greater Philadelphia area. That alone is worth the visit. But, as other reviewers report, there is much more to enjoy at this consistently delightful casual diner. Excellent food. Fairly priced. But bring your own ambience.

Yelp
Fantastic Mexican food. I'd have to say it's definitely the best I've had in the area. We get take out from here a few times a month and it never disappoints! It's authentic and absolutely delicious. And.. inexpensive! Rincon Tarasco is a family-run BYOB located on the corner of 322 and Wallace Ave in Downingtown. It's very small and unassuming. I've never dined in the restaurant before but can say that they are very friendly at the register where we collect our take out. They offer Mexican sodas along with the regular options, like Coke, in small fridge as you enter the restaurant. NOW on to the food! They have the most tasty homemade tortilla chips, salsa, and guacamole. I recommend them all! The guacamole is chunky and has diced tomato in it. Love! My boyfriend tends to get the chorizo gorditas and the mexican style tacos, and raves about both. While I often get the tacos dorados and the american style tacos. The difference between the mexican and american tacos are that the american has cheese and tomatoes added while the mexican does not, it has onion and cilantro served with lime slices. Their rice is delicious, and friends of ours have had their burritos (they have a few different kinds) and everyone has enjoyed them all. They have quite a selection on their menu and I look forward to trying a lot more. We tell everyone about this place! If you love Mexican food, you will love Rincon Tarasco!

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food! For two people, order the Molcajete. Baked meats in a sizzling hot cauldron. Spicy, but man is it good. Excellent food
google avatar

Marilyn S.

Yelp
Molcahete!!!! OMG. It's thick, meaty, bubbling hot stew with melted cheese, served in a giant hot stone bowl (was it a giant coal?! It steamed for over an hour) with fresh flour tortillas. Sadly, I didn't order it...I was so jealous of my coworker who got it. Oh well, next time. Asada sopes were delicious. The only thing I didn't particularly like was the guac - I prefer it a little more crushed than whole chunks, and there wasn't a whole lot of taste to it. Also, you have to ask for everything twice and make sure you repeat yourself a few times; the waitress doesn't catch much the first time around.
google avatar

Natasha U.

Yelp
Excellent local Mexican place! The food is delicious and the prices are great. It is definitely more authentic than most Mexican food out there :) would definitely be back!

Yelp
At least there is no ground beef. If you're in Downingtown, or live there, this is your best option for Mexican food.

Yelp
Ambiance - 2 Stars: Its not pretty in here. Mirrors on the walls, ceiling tiles are old, floors are old, tables are covered with those foamy plasticy table cloths, tables rock around. Service - 2 Stars: Service is just not good here. You need to be patient and expect a decent amount of waiting for your server to come back to your table. Usually only 1 or 2 servers even on weekend nights. Food - 4 Stars: Solid food. If you can get by the fact that this place is a total dive, and the service is awful - You'll be sure to enjoy some seriously delicious and mostly authentic Mexican cuisine. The Molcajete is a must, and it's just about the only thing I order every time I come. It's the most expensive item on the menu, but can easily feed 2 normal eaters - or one seriously hungry hombre. Filled with several different types of meat, queso, jalepenos, onions, and a delicious tomato based sauce, served with fresh tortillas. My mouth is watering just writing about it. Again, expect a wait. This comes straight out of the oven served in a Molcajete (like a mortar bowl), and will take around 30 minutes to prepare. Other items on the menu are pretty decent as well. We have tried several other things, and they're pretty good as well. Molcajete is by far the most flavorful thing at the restaurant. A few good dessert items, and a tasty Horchata. Salsas and Guacamole are nice. Cost - 5 Stars: This place is definitely a good bang for your buck. Unfortunately I have to give Rincon Tarasco 3 stars due to the lack of service and ambiance. But like I mentioned, if you can get over these two things - you're sure to have a good meal. It's BYO, so bring whatever you want to drink and forget about the wait. As a note, I have never tried take out from here - only eat in.
