We had a local take us to this wonderful place for lunch and it was so good, we also came back for dinner because it was my brirthday and my choice. Everything from the black bean soup, to the chips and guacamole to the rib eye tacos, lengua and also the pork tacos was just fantastic. They even surprised me with a collective birthday song and many of the guests chimed in. The restaurant gave us the flan and that was delicious. Even a nearby lovely female guest was super kind and ordered an extra corn bread cake for us to celebrate together. The service from all of the servers were so attentive, professional and kind. i tipped much bigger than usual because of their kindness and great service. I just loved this place from their clean style, great service and fantastic food. The food was so authentic and really spot on. i hope many others, outside of the local mexican community, will be lucky to find this wonderful place to eat. Thank you everyone at El Tiz for my fun birthday night. :-)

Google
Experience was so so. I felt that the el pastor meat was lacking in flavor. A couple years ago the meat tasted great but not this time. The service was great. Drinks are so so too. I ordered a mango margarita and I could taste the alcohol. It had a strong flavor of plastic like. A Paloma on the other hand was great. I believe because the tequila was from a bottle.

Google
Walked in and got attended fast by the friendly staff got our order ready in less then 15 minutes. Food was delicious and they give you enough portions for you to fill up! The restrooms were very clean as well which i was surprised knowing it’s a fast place restaurant. Will be going back soon.

Yelp
Overpriced, steak is really dry. Pork was alright. Save your money and go to a smaller place.

Yelp
Love the beans instead of chips & salsa. Great place to grab some good street tacos and an adult beverage. Space is small inside, but they do have a drive-thru where you can order.
google avatar

Dwaneika C.

Yelp
I had no expectations when I came here but they know what they are doing when it comes to tacos! They were quick with the delicious beans, the tacos were flavorful and they left all the fixings for the customer to customize! I will definitely be returning, the tacos are also a good price. The drink was good; not a big distinction in the frozen flavors but they are strong and get the job done.

Yelp
Loved it here! My first time is with a huge group, the staff was able to smile and greet us all! Loved the service and tacos! You can order single tacos or a meal, placed at the table is a cool rack of onions, salsas, limes, etc. Mix the tacos or order something else! Great outside patio area or sit at the bar, it's small but perfect with a flatscreen for sports! Cheers and enjoy some real Mexican food' so good!

Yelp
Really enjoyed this little gem. Seems authentic. Very busy for 8-9pm. The waitress was very nice. We went through our salsa carousel quickly, so she brought over two more of those carousels. They also have chopped pineapples as a salsa. My friend and I shared the Gringo pastor tacos. Love them! It comes on flour tacos with cheese. You can put the onions/salsa fixing on them at the table. The pastor meat was a little on the drier side, but I think it was because we came a bit later than dinner time. But it still had great flavors. And once I added lime juice and salsa, it was perfectly fine for me! Fried cheese app!! Idk what the official name of it is. But the lady knew what we came here for! It was good if you love cheese!! Like cheese chips that you can dip in salsa. I tried to order the cucumber mojito, they were out. Went with the mangorita. It was good, but had a lot of chamoy. Too much for my taste. The gauvarita tasted good. But I think many ppl at our table preferred the mango. One thing I did notice. The salsas at the table were not spicy. I'm a little let down when I don't have very spicy salsa for my tacos. The atmosphere is hopping! Lots of up beat Spanish music. Very crowded in here. Really enjoyed my dinner even though we had already had Mexican food an hr earlier. I def want to come back and try their pastor tortas!

Irma R.

Yelp
The food was amazing! And Erica took great care of us, always making sure we were good! Definitely recommend this place

Yelp
Family favorite. I have been going here since I can remember. The staff is like family and will serve you accordingly. The food always gives me the nostalgic feeling of being back in mexico standing at a taco street stand. The pastor is an absolute must. This is real mexican street food. It's a super laid back and fun place to either bring the friends, family, or both. The patio + margarita combo is always gives out best summer nights.

Yelp
Went here for the first time... and the last. Our server seemed pleasant enough, but didn't speak a word of English so there was a lot of pointing and sign language. At times, an English speaking worker came along to help translate. Really? I ordered iced tea for my drink of choice, but was served a large glass of tepid tea as if they had poured hot tea over three small ice cubes which were long gone. The tea had that unmistakable taste of tea after it sits in the carafe too long and starts to turn. I ordered Parrillata Tizon, which is a taco platter, to get a broad taste of the menu. The only semi-edible thing on the plate was the cheese quesadilla and grilled onions. The flat tacos were topped with flavorless, tiny cubes of meat that were very dry and served almost room temperature as if they had been cooked hours before and stored in a utility pan for eventual scooping onto my corn tortillas. At one point, I attempted to order sour cream and was met with a confused look on our non-English speaking waiter's face. After some translation, I was brought a small cup of cream....not sour cream, but heavy cream that you would put in your coffee. To top off this miserable experience, I found out the next morning that we had been severely overcharged. After all, how is a server that doesn't speak a lick of English supposed to navigate a point-of-sale system and a menu that is decidedly printed in nothing but English!

Yelp
We came here with a few friends. The fried cheese is so yummy. Our table tore it up. We ordered the Pastor tacos. They were a bit on the dry side that I couldn't eat it. Maybe I came on an off day. The corn tortillas were a bit crunchy as well. Definitely a fun place with frozen drinks and and yummy cheese.

Yelp
I came back and am so thrilled that the ventilation is fixed!! You can now enjoy there wonderful food, service and frozen margaritas without leaving and smelling like a taco lol. I was once again impressed by the service I received from Ulyssess . He really knows how to tend to every need of their guest. He has an awesome smile and make eye contact to ensure he gets it right the first time.

Yelp
Great street tacos. This is one of our favorite places to go for street tacos. The taco plates come with 3 tacos of your choice. My only complaint is I wish they served 4. They r so good.

Binra P.

Yelp
My go-to Mexifood spot. Food is dericious, and while the servers are great and friendly - they can't handle the customer volume, which results in a few "I'm so sorry your food is coming shortly" and longer wait times for your food. Food: For 2 fattycakes eaters- they always start you with free black beans. Then we always order some chicharron de queso (fried cheese), then split 4 tacos (2 bistec/steak and 2 pastor/spicy pork) with queso, and split a torta (usually the "tizoncita" which has ham, milanesa/breaded beef, and pastor meat and cheese). Uh ma gaod it's so gud and you get a lil bit of errthang. Drank: Luhhh me some michelada with Clamato. The margaritas are tasty but uh they strong AF (or maybe I'm weak sauce AF) Service: Employees are great, service times are slow. We probably wait like 15 min on average for our food. But if I gots me some alcohol, I can waitz. Ambience: Casual, kinda warm because kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant in the open. Always poppin full of peeps when we come, even at random times. Avoid during soccer games... seriously. Price: Food is cheap and well priced for portion. Drinks can add up quickly. Nam sayin? See you soon El Tizoncito!

Yelp
Hey Y'all....someone has lied to me. This place is less then subpar. Bistec was dry and flavorless. Pollo was ok...but still dry. When we walked in we were immediately seated, however after 8 mins we were finally given these delicious black beans... after another 10 minutes I approach one of the 16 servers and asked if anyone know who is responsible for our table. After a brief but I'm back forth two people approached the table one dropped off cilantro, onions, and two different salsas along with lime and then the other guy asked if we wanted drinks. Once we finally received our drinks we ordered our food and we should a left with the first indication of the bad service, but we really wanted to like this place...
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered to go and I have to say I enjoyed my meal. I ordered just a simple al pastor quesadilla. But what I have to say I am overly impressed with is the Horchata. I judge a place easily on their quality of Horchata (as well as food, duh) and I ordered one extra to go, that's how good it was. All of the other dishes ordered seemed to be crowd pleasers as well.

Yelp
This review could be an ode to the Chicharron de Queso, but I'll try to cover the joy that is the tacos pastor as well. Are you interested in keto heaven or the need for a dose of Lipitor after dinner? Get over toe El T for the chicharron de queso. Imagine those melty bits of crunchy cheese left on the pan when you bake a pizza, then add a half lb of said cheese and you get a giant, crunchy, cheesy, piece of heaven perfect for dipping in the carousel of salsas/onion/cilantro, etc. Then comes the pastor (which honestly was a little dry this time, but hey, it was after 8p on a Friday), which is carved from the spit and generously served on tortillas. It, even when a little dry, melts.in.your.mouth. Add their various margarita options (I love the tamarind and the guava) and their not blinking an eye when we showed up with a party of at least eight and you have a winner!

Mark C. S.

Yelp
One of the first restaurants I've had here in Texas and still my favorite! Black bean starter, Pastor Nachos, choriqueso and ofc the amazing Guavaritas all so delicious!

Thomas D.

Yelp
Very good tacos and great service. Clean restaurant and you're served some delicious beans while waiting to order (free)
google avatar

Emily R.

Yelp
The food is ok but the service sucks. Waited in the drive thru land and people saw me but not one person acknowledged me, even after I honked. The least they can do is acknowledge the customer.

Jay R.

Yelp
This little hole in the wall is the best in Oak Cliff! I had the tinga sopa, which is huge, the sope is not thick it's just right, cooked to perfection -home made. The taco de pastor is also delicious, I like the slice portions. Also enjoyed a huge portion of guacamole and chips! The service is awesome- Alex was on it! Kind, clean, happy, fast and accurate! Will be back with the gambinos!

Yelp
I'v never had such a giant cheese crisp before and man it was really good. You eat it like a normal tortilla chip and just dip it in some hot sauce and pico. It's pretty good. The tacos are pretty good but you have to eat them pretty quickly. They get cold really fast. They're just your normal tacos, no extra frills. The pricing is pretty reasonable at $1.25 a taco. Their complementary black beans are a little salty. We went with the appetizer sampler (nothing to write home about- normal taquitos and plain quesadillas) I love the sauce/pepper tray that comes with each table. They set it down as soon as you sit down. There's two different salsas, cilantro, onions and limes on the tray. I did notice a lack of back pepper shakers. Is that a regional thing? My sister pointed it out and I was amused that the salt shakers were missing their other half. I don't think it's worth driving 30 minutes for but if you happen to be in the area, I would definitely suggest checking this place out. The food is solid and I don't think you'll hate anything you order here.

Yelp
SERVICE WAS TRASH. The waiter was a women who didn't greet us when we got there. Took long to get us a menu. we also needed more condiments and literally everyone at our table was calling out to the workers asking for a waiter and Nobody even came to our table. Only one young boy came in for his shift and saw we needed helped. at the end we waited over 20 minutes for our check and then we left a comment on our receipt saying the service was trash but the waiter put our receipt to the side and printed out a new one. Again we put the same comment. the waiter still ignored us when we told her she didn't deserve a tip because her service was bad. The manager needs to do something about their workers. Again the guy helped although he was just cleaning tables and the women ignored us and stayed talking with her other coworkers in the back.

Yelp
It isn't in the most convenient location but good for those who are anywhere in the Bishop Arts area looking for tacos and tortas that'll give the most well known stands a run for their money. The menu here is pretty huge. As far as beverages go, you won't find iced tea here but there are horchatas, mexican sodas, and micheladas among others - so don't make the same mistake I did. The tortas, which I never had before, will make you want to laugh every time you pass a Subway. The bread is fresh, thin, and a little crusty on the outside. I ordered the standard jamon con queso which also was stacked with black beans, sour cream, avocado, and jalapenos. For those that want more heat the tortas are served with a large cup of hot carrots - except its actually carrots, cauliflower, and a LOT of quartered jalapenos. Pace yourself, you've been warned. The pastor tacos are the other reason I showed up here. It isn't just the meat off the spit that makes these tacos, and it's not the dry "other white meat" kind of pork. The toppings served off to the side included the customary onion and cilantro ... and pineapple. At this point it didn't even matter that the tortillas were pre-packaged. This is one of only 2 places I've been to that sell Quesadillas de Verdad (the real thing) made with deep fried masa dough. And they also have menudo here ....
google avatar

Junisia S.

Yelp
No bueno! The meat was not seasoned and the margarita tasted like hot sauce... I was not impressed
google avatar

Anton K.

Yelp
Busy little place, but overall I enjoyed it. I ordered a hibiscus water; refreshing for a warm day, and also had the marinated pork tacos, they were fantastic. a few spicy sauces were given to us and I really liked the orange one. As far as the service goes, we had a very kind server.
google avatar

Val D.

Yelp
Very authentic and delicious! extremely clean inside, and it has an urban feel to it. It really is a great place to go. al pastor and chicken tacos are my favorite, why? not greasy at all!
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
I usually go to a different location when I'm in town, but this one was just closer to where I was at. The food was just as good. Great tacos al pastor. The cebollitas on the other hand I would skip next time. For $3 I would expect real cebollitas, grilled spring onions. What they serve seems to be just sliced regular onions sautéed and drenched in maggie sauce. As far as the location goes, it's not as nice and inviting as the place I usually go to. This location feels more like a fast food joint. Nevertheless, if I were nearby I would stop for a bite. Their al pastor is some of the best I've had in dallas.

Yelp
Good News!!!!! The New "El Tizoncito" adress is 3318 Forest Ln., Suite 100, Dallas, Tx, 75234. Great place, clean and affordable, they have pastor tacos from a vertical spit like the traditional way from a Lebanese influence that arrives Mexico City early last century Great variety on the Menu from sopes, tortas, to menudo on weekends It is worth the visit, I will keep coming

Yelp
Didn't know where to get something to eat on a late Monday night so came into this place I ordered to drink the the Michelada and my wife had the Mix Latino. Just to say the drink are very good and the tacos are to die for. My wife had the torta and she is a very picky person but loved it. We will be back very soon because you will leave with a buzz

Yelp
Stop by "El Tizoncito" last night with some friends to enjoy some pastor tacos and I was trill to find a couple of nice surprises, first the air Conditioning was replace and the dining area is much cooler, the second is that Connie was there (She was at the Lemmon store for a wile). As always Ulises took great care of us and the food was delicious.

Yelp
This is a regular spot for us! I love that they are open late! The service is great, and the food is always freshly prepared in the open kitchen. Nothing fancy, amazing prices, great flavor! Be sure to start of with a tamarind frozen margarita. They are small and strong. I love the chilli-lime salt rim. YUMMO! Two is all it takes to relax and enjoy the whole meal! They also have a small amount of premium liqour and several selections of domestic and mexican beer! For non-alcoholic beverages, they have aguas frescas(horchata, tamarindo, and jamaica), also mexican sodas and traditional cokes. The complementary black bean soup is a great starter. They provide each table with a caddy including two salsas, limones, onions, and cilantro. I love to add a few things to spice the soup up a little! We have tried each of the appetizers, except the crispy queso, which I need to try soon. The cebollitas, guacamole, and rajas de queso are excellent! For entree I have stuck with the sope de Pastor for a while. It is filling and tasty, and at $4, who can complain? Also the chicken and potato flautas are great as an entree, but we sometimes share them as an appetizer also! Last night it was freezing out, so we tried the caldo de pollo soup. The broth is delicious and authentic. Add a little spicy salsa, lime, and cilantro, and it was DELISH! Give this place a try and it won't break your wallet, and your taste buds will thank you!

Yelp
Love the flavor of El Tizoncito but this location is poorly managed compared to the other locations I've been too and also, our waitress was very unprofessional although I can tell she did her best. We asked her if they had like courtesy chips and she brought us an expensive order of guacamole with chips without asking if that's what we wanted. Girl: before adding stuff to someone's bill you need to ask if that's what they want! Other than that... our table was very close to the grill and I could feel the heat burning my back all the time we were there, we were sweating and we couldn't switch to another table because the place was packed, so if you go I don't recommend you sit on that table, they need to do some relocation and think better how they sit the client.

M L.

Yelp
Just a heads up for customers and owners. You need to update the prices, today I had a very bad experience finding out that my sincronizada plate is not $9.90 anymore. Now is $14.00 dls. way too much for that! Very unpleasant situation.

Sarah O.

Yelp
This review is about the service since I wasn't able to actually eat here. Heard the food was good and I like to visit local businesses as much as possible. I tried to order to go; however, when I called and asked for someone who speaks English please, I was told no, Spanish only. No apology, no attempt to help, just no. I don't expect everyone to be fluent in English, but there wasn't one person there who can take an order in English? The website and menu are in English for goodness sake. It's unfortunate I won't be able to order from here since I can't communicate with the workers.

Yelp
Unbelievably amazing, simple, cozy place to eat crispy, cheesy, meaty foods with delicious fresh salsas. True Dallas soul food! I came on a Saturday morning- Good coffee is hard to come by but the coffee here was so GOOD. I reco the chicken+potato flautas. Kabob style method of cooking meat (pastor=pork/beef/chicken) so the menu revolves round well-marinated+cooked meats in generous portions= quesadillas, tacos, nachos etc. with delicious garnishes(cilantro, onions, lined, red+green salsa). I also tried the tamarind margarita- small glass for $7 but good. We were served black bean soup when we arrived as opposed to chips and salsa- the beans were fresh and good. Warm, welcoming service with a smile and the prices are more than fair. Becoming a regular.

McClay C.

Yelp
This place was absolutely delicious. We had the beef nachos and tacos, and it was more than enough for the two or us. We will definitely be coming back here!

Yelp
Food always fresh, friendly stuff and the most important thing fast service you don't have to wait a lot for your food or drinks I love this place.

Marjae A.

Yelp
I went one evening to the drive thru and no one helped me. I saw several women walking past the open drive through window. I know they saw me because they looked at me but kept working. One lady even stood next to the window and still didn't acknowledge me. Another car pulled up behind me. I just drove off.

Yelp
I ordered a torta and it was really mouth watering. It's a well served order and not greedy with portion size. You can see the cooks making your plate over the counter. The waitresses are really friendly. The only thing that's bad is the seating.
