Sunday, Nov, 2017 - we got our money exchanged close to the tourist souk by the Luxor Temple, and then walked south through the train station and past some wonderful eateries, but this restaurant we wanted to try (it had some good reviews so we decided to give it a shot). When we walked closer we noticed a lot of locals. We were then passed along to cashier (thinking we are buying takeouts), who passed us along upstairs dining area. We were provided with the English menu (not sure if it is the same price as the Arabic menu) and we ordered a small Koushry, falafel, baba gonush dish, and a chicken pie at 6:07pm (the hubs was hungry). We received everything except the chicken pie by 6:15pm as they are still cooking it. We received the pie at 6:13pm.
The taste is pretty good. The 'pie' looks more like quesadilla, and the 'crust' is like those Chinese green onion pancake, except without the green onions here. Unfortunately, I find the chicken content to be lacking. The staff are friendly and water from a jug is provided (they actually treat us like one of them here, which is awesome!)
The only little wrinkle is we said small Koushry and apparently they gave us a medium - difference of 4LE. Not a big deal, but we both remembered pointing to the 'small' on the menu to the waiter.
Overall, happy experience. And yes, we can't finish the pie and took it home.
