Breathtaking. The architect was the brilliant Stanford White who, unfortunately, is most famous for being very publically murdered resulting in "The Trial of the Century". I believe that the windows are by none other then L.C. Tiffany who needs no introduction but I could be wrong. They may be by one of his disciples but they are nonetheless stunning. The organ is by Hillbourne Roosevelt - yes, THAT Roosevelt family. He was TR's cousin. Hillbourne died the year after completing this organ at the tender age of 26 but his brother Frank carried on establishing the firm as the top American organ company, breaking ground with numerous technological innovations.
Moses Taylor funded this church. He was a merchant / banker and one of the wealthiest men in the world. No expense was spared building the church. Today it is well maintained and one might consider it a walk - in time capsule. It has not suffered from numerous "modernizations" as have many historic churches.
