Element Melbourne Richmond – Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"First impressions? Marriott chose a tucked-away location, east of central Melbourne on the Yarra River, for its first Element hotel in Australia. The property is quiet, without much buzz, but its charming lobby-lounge, featuring deep armchairs and a fireplace, is a pleasant spot to hang out—particularly in the evenings, when the hotel offers free drinks and snacks. What's the backstory? Element is Marriott's eco-conscious, health-focused brand. Aside from the riverfront location, the green features here are relatively subtle: LED lighting, water-saving taps, and—a neat touch—free bikes to borrow. Tell us all about the rooms? What the guest rooms lack in character they make up for in natural light, which pours in through floor-to-ceiling windows. Those recovering from jet-lag will appreciate the excellent soundproofing, cozy beds and comfy sofas (in even the smallest rooms). Upgrade for a generous balcony with skyline views. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi is strong and free. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? The Mint Lane Restaurant and Bar offers a comprehensive breakfast buffet with an emphasis on healthier options like omelettes, fruit, and yogurt. Lunch and dinner are decent, too—a vegan burger with pomegranate molasses is an unexpected highlight—but look elsewhere for a lively scene. And the service? Service is delivered with typical Australian warmth. What type of travelers will you find here? An eclectic bunch of business and leisure travelers, plus sports fans attending games at the nearby Melbourne Cricket Ground . What about the neighborhood? Richmond, one of Melbourne's most exciting quarters, has hip bars, great Vietnamese food, and interesting shopping. The hotel is slightly removed from the action, but trams running past the front door will put you in the thick of things within five minutes. Is there anything you'd change? Although you can pick up snacks and drinks from reception, there are no mini-bars in the guestrooms—presumably to encourage healthy eating habits. Any other hotel features worth noting? The hotel's 24/7 gym is well equipped, but hitting the path along the Yarra River is arguably a more pleasant way to exercise. Bottom line. This comfortable, low-key property gets the basics right and benefits from a riverside perch." - Dan F. Stapleton

Always comfortable and welcoming. Especially when we booked our Pawsome package. Our two Floofs really enjoyed coming with us too. Thank you! For helping make our celebration extra special. Staff were warm, and friendly. Oh, and beautiful coffee by the fireplace!

Absolutely Exceptional Stay at Element Melbourne Richmond and shout out to Jayrick! We stayed at Element Melbourne Richmond for two weeks while we searched for a more permanent home in Melbourne, and it truly exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the hotel felt like a peaceful oasis in the city. It is perfectly located, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful surroundings. It’s honestly in a serene spot in all Melbourne. The hotel itself is immaculate. Always clean, fresh, and inviting. The atmosphere is calm and modern, which made our extended stay incredibly comfortable. Every detail seemed thoughtfully maintained, from the rooms to the common spaces. But what really made our stay exceptional was the staff, especially Jayrick Padua (shout out to this guy!), whom I believe is the Front Manager. We had the pleasure of seeing him often during our stay, and he was consistently kind, welcoming, and highly professional. Jayrick made sure that we were comfortable and felt at home. His warm and very pleasant energy made such a difference! What a great guy! This is quite important for us since we are new in Australia! :) Thanks to Jayrick and the wonderful team at Element Melbourne Richmond, our two weeks felt less like a temporary stop and more like a home away from home. We couldn’t recommend this hotel highly enough and will absolutely stay again whenever we’re in the area. If you’re looking for comfort, peace, and exceptional hospitality in Melbourne, this is the place to be.

Our stay at Element Melbourne by Marriott International was nothing short of perfect — a beautiful wedding gift from my sister, and one we’ll never forget. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth and care. A special thank you to Jayrick, the Front Office Manager, for the thoughtful room setup and the stunning wedding photo frame waiting for us — such a personal touch that truly made us feel celebrated and cherished. The hotel itself is peaceful, modern, and elegant, but it’s the people who made it so special. We left with full hearts and lasting memories. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️

Location was reasonable. Breakfast was fair to good. . Disliked · The wash basin area was too small . Nil space to place your personal usages. insufficient space to walk to other side of bed due to table placement. Carpet in room had multiple stains. Would not recommend this room. Being also a Marriott Bonvoy member, I was disappointed. One coffee machine for all visitors was only passable especially as it only dispensed 1/2 cups. There were no larger cups or mugs, obvious to reduce cost. 15 minutes to check out to get the deposit refunded due to having paid cash, was unreasonable.

We had a fantastic stay at Element Richmond. The property is modern, spotless, and beautifully designed — the lobby alone is a visual treat! Its location next to the tram station made getting around Melbourne effortless, and the pricing was very reasonable.||A big thank you to Susie, Sanjam, and Jayrick for the warm welcome and thoughtful amenities. Special appreciation to Celestine, who checked us in twice with genuine warmth and professionalism. The team’s hospitality made our stay truly memorable. We’ll definitely be returning!

Cozy and comfy hotel stay. This was my fourth visit and I love to stay in Element Richard given its location, reasonable room prices and overall experience , they are my key reasons to visit again|And again. I stayed on the top floor this time and had a lovely time. The hotel staff were professional and helpful with my requests and queries. The hotel offered car park facility and I love their security gate with a digital card operation. I also liked their welcome gift and their lucky draw. I got 500 bonus points from the lucky draw ;) awesome !

Google
This is not Richmond. It's 8 or more tram stops away. More like Burnley and in a business park. For convenience, it's too far from the Richmond shops, no after hours room service and no facilities and to buy a mini pass or grab food after 10pm. Feel totally catfished as loyal Marriott member. Felt unsafe travelling here late at night.

I’ve been staying at the Element in Richmond for the past three years, and it truly feels like my home away from home. Celeste has always gone above and beyond to make me feel welcome every time I visit. She’s friendly, helpful, and always takes the time to make sure everything is just right. The Element is lucky to have her, and she’s a big reason I keep coming back. Not to mention all the other amazing team members and Modesto:)
