Elevador da Ribeira

The elevator makes it so much easier to reach to the bridge! Yet even if you don’t take the elevator, you can just come here to enjoy the view!

Minimal signage at the top. Go through the gate and down, down, down the stairs… when you get to the piss smelling stairs you are close to the elevator. Goes down four flights. You pay €2 at the bottom. Brings you out at the pier. Was a fun adventure but super NOT helpful if you are looking for a way to avoid stairs. Photo is at the bottom where you pay.

Lovely idea, thinking it would tale us parallel with the top of the bridge. It didn't! An angi a I decided g multi step walk as the buggering lift only tales you half way up.

Yes, this is actually a scenic spot. You can see great view of bridge and river side here. At the right time, you can see the sunset.

Porto is one of the best cities in Portugal because it still shows the traditional side even if it's full of tourists attractions. This point has a amazing view on the canal!

Charging 2 Euro for this lift service, just to go from halfway up the hill to the riverside, feels overpriced. A fee of 1 Euro or no charge at all would seem more reasonable.

The elevator goes 40% of the way up into someone’s home. And it costs €4 per trip! Huge rip-off. Take the funicular for the same price. Goes all the way up.

WARNING: this elevator is the opposite of helpful if you are traveling with someone that has trouble with stairs. I thought taking the elevator would save them walking up the hill, but there’s loads of stairs you have to take after exiting the elevator
