Elevation Hotel to Open in Montgomery, Alabama in 2025 - AFAR

"A 99-room, eight-story hotel run by the nonprofit behind the Legacy Sites, opening in phases in 2025, is designed as an immersive gateway to the city’s civil-rights landmarks: thoughtfully curated spaces that blend historical narrative, art, and architecture; amenities include a pool, gym, a library with digital learning kiosks focused on social progress, a theater, gallery, meeting rooms, and a ballroom for up to 200. The property will offer room types from roughly 340-square-foot king/double rooms to a 1,100-square-foot Pinnacle Suite, rates starting around $232 per night, a shuttle linking the three Legacy Sites, and plans for a new park and exhibit honoring the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery march along the march route." - Bailey Berg

I truly loved my stay at this hotel. Every member of the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the entire property was spotless and visually stunning. The artwork throughout the hotel was both beautiful and inspiring, and I especially loved the library filled with books and thoughtful recommendations. The sculpture of the little boy in the library and the documentaries playing in the theater room added such a meaningful touch. Standing on the bridge leading to the pool, which crosses the very street where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once marched from Selma, was deeply moving and made me feel proud and blessed to be on such historic ground. The room itself was wonderful, clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. I appreciated the complimentary robes, the soft bed, and the overall sense of calm and comfort the space provided. I also loved the variety of entertainment options, including the free HBO app and the ability to log into my own streaming services. The restaurant food was delicious, served hot and full of flavor. Overall, I had an exceptional experience and am already looking forward to returning once the second part of the property is complete.

Our group was the very first conference the hotel hosted. We had about 60 people who arrived just two days before the official grand opening, and while the team was still putting on the finishing touches, they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and professional, and the property itself was beautifully prepared for our event. The conference space is well-designed and comfortable, the food was good quality, and the overall service was top-notch. I especially loved how the hotel’s design pays tribute to the Gee’s Bend Quilters — such a thoughtful and powerful connection to local culture and history. We were even fortunate enough to have several of the Quilters join our conference and share their remarkable stories. My guest room had everything I needed — the bed was very comfortable, the multiple showerheads were a nice luxury, and the plush robe was an extra touch of comfort. From my sixth-floor room, I had a great view of downtown Montgomery, which happened to be light up green while we were in town, in honor of Veterans. Although I didn’t visit the EJI sites during this trip, I truly appreciate how this hotel honors. I also value the hotel’s commitment to community — I loved seeing staff name tags that highlight the neighborhoods they come from, and I know this kind of investment has a real economic impact locally. My colleagues and I travel to Montgomery on occasion for work related to protecting the history of the Black Belt. This will absolutely be our go-to hotel from now on. We’ll be recommending it to others as well. Congratulations to the team — keep up the great work! I can’t wait to see the next phases come to life.

I stayed at the Elevation Convening Center and Hotel last week with two friends. I could not have been more impressed. From the minute we pulled up in front of the hotel, we were greeted with such warmth and kindness. All of the staff we encountered throughout our stay were professional, friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with spaces throughout for small gatherings, additional learning or just simply to sit in quiet reflection. The rooms were absolutely lovely and comfortable, and provided us with everything we could possibly need, including a much-appreciated Nespresso machine.|Visiting the Legacy Sites, and other places in the area, is a profoundly moving and sacred experience, and the Elevation Hotel is a perfect respite to return to after.

We travel the world and Elevation Convening Center is one of the absolute best hotels we have stayed at anywhere. The venue is beautiful and filled with very friendly, attentive staff. The library/theater is an excellent accompaniment the Legacy experience. The shuttle bus service to the various venues allowed us to park our car at the hotel and enjoy our visit without driving. Staying at Elevation definitely added to the overall enjoyment of our visit to Montgomery.

Top notch! Clean and refined. The place has a great restaurant called AYA in the hotel that is worth making a reservation for. Rooms reflect the quality and comfort you'd expect from the exterior. The staff has been very helpful and friendly. I will stay here again on my next trip to Montgomery

Elevation is a nice hotel. They opened on Oct 8th according to the front desk. They are still getting some things set up but overall I think this hotel has great potential. Here are my thoughts on my first stay.||5 stars - Staff professionalism, politeness, and being welcoming. Everyone I encountered was very pleasant!||5 stars - Room layout & decor. You can tell it’s a new hotel. Still has a new smell and the furnishings are not worn from excessive use.||3 stars - Room cleanliness. I was a bit disappointed with this for the following reasons: 1) there was an old balled up sock or something left under the chair from a previous guest; 2) hair found in the bathroom area from prior guests; 3) ants found throughout the room which indicates there is a problem and they need to treat the rooms. This hotel has a lot of potential so I encourage management to not let the cleaning fall off. This can be the downfall of an otherwise great space.||I would def stay again and hope that on my next visit I don’t experience the same issues with cleanliness of room.
