We made sure Golden was our stop for the night on a cross-province drive, just to experience this restaurant, and it did not fail to disappoint. This upscale place offers an eclectic mix of food, with a few italian-themed pastas as well as some asian fusion dishes littered about. If you've read my reviews, you know I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of asian fusion, but for what it was this place was decent.
We ordered the Dragon Boat to start, which was decent, albeit a bit overpriced. The scallops were succulent, the mussels average sized, the sauce delicious and flavorful. The bread for dipping left a bit to be desired.
I ordered the asian-inspired Duck Taco 'Boa' buns for my main. (As a side note, 'Boa', which describes the white steamed buns served with this dish, is probably a mis-spelled iteration of 'Bao' (包) which means 'bun' or 'bread' in Chinese...Chinglish? Or maybe Englese). The pickled vegetables were excellent, and the duck was moist and juicy. The true star of the show, however, was their special: A chorizo mushroom pasta in a dill cream sauce. A strange combination of flavors that might not work together, but somehow do. The cannelloni was pretty good too.
Overall, a great little place with good vibes and nice drinks (we enjoyed the yellow bird). Great food for a fair price, would stop here again to dine for sure.
