This is one of our go-to places whenever we're in Uppsala. The Elite chain of hotels is one of Sweden’s best domestic inventions, with each hotel being impeccably located, and Elite Hotel Academia does not disappoint.
The hotel is steps away from the Uppsala train station. The rooms are decently sized and, depending on the category, can include a coffee maker, robes, armchairs, a desk, and slippers. The view can be a bit of a hit and miss — you'll either get a view of the train station or the street. That said, each room is impeccably soundproofed, both to the outside and inside. Peaceful sleep has never been a problem over our many, many stays.
Housekeeping is always punctual and thorough, and the hotel is consistently clean. Indeed, one of the most remarkable things is how clean and well-maintained the hotel is. Although it has been around for about a decade, the rooms still feel fresh and brand new.
The staff are very friendly and we’ve never had any issues with booking or service requests throughout the years.
The breakfast is always excellent, with a wide variety of options. Lots of seating options. Some tables in the middle and nice soft sodas on the side. On weekends, you do need to sign up for a breakfast time slot, as it can get quite busy.
There is also a branch of Bishop’s Arm at the main floor of the hotel. We have never dined there, but it is convenient to have a restaurant in the hotel in case you don’t want to go out for food.
Finally, the gym is very convenient and has everything we need, including a sauna that can be turned on and ready within half an hour upon request.
