Good location. Friendly staff. Breakfast is also good. The room layout is convenient. There is a full-length mirror and blackout curtains. It was a bit hot during the day, but it cooled down quickly when I turned on the fan in the room. The hair dryer was a bit dirty. I stayed in a standard single room in mid-July.

We really enjoyed this hotel. The complimentary breakfast is wonderful!! Overall design is lovely. Location is great, close to everything you need but you won't hear a bus/train right by you. The rooms do not have AC or a coffee machine. Bathroom was very small and the shower design results in water all over the floor. The room was clean and a good size but we were on the ground floor and could hear every step the guests above us took. Hotel staff was really nice!

This is a hotel with faded glory. And, alas, no attention to detail or motivation to fix problems. The room was small (315) and unfortunately the window didn't even open to the outside - it opened above the restaurant/common area. And without AC, on a relatively warm Sweden day, that meant that the windows had to be opened.. which simply replaced stale hot air with stale hot air. The room had a decidedly awful smell. It also had two problems - as you can see from the attached pictures. In one case there were naked wires protruding from the bedside lamp. In the other case the slide bar for the shower was simply laying horizontally, rather than vertically, so the handheld attachment couldn't be used as a showerhead at all. I informed housekeeping of both problems. They said they would "write it up", but apparently that doesn't mean fixing it. Both remained in their dangerous and broken state for my entire stay. The hotel itself is nice, the location is amazing. But the rooms are not impressive at all. And the inability to address problems means I cannot recommend this hotel.

The hotel is housed in an interesting old buidling which might not be to everyone's taste - it's rather sombre and dark in tone. The room was of a good size but needs an upgrade - more accessible plugs and I'm not a fan of a shower head over the bath.|The breakfast was satisfactory but nothing particularly special, the room was too small for the number of guests. A pleasant hotel but I had expected more.

Staff's very friendly. Beds and pillows nice. Breakfast very nice. Bathroom fresh. However, shower's in the bathtub, slippery and dangerous and no handle to hold on to. Rooms very outdated, very small and tremendously high ceiling. Got a room where you could only open a window a tiny, tiny bit but that was still indoors and onto the breakfast room which is kind of a conservatory. No termostat in room whatsoever. Staff helped me change to a room with windows, very small windows that could only open 4-5 cm. Noisy street outside (I don't mind that though, just want to mention it, that's how it is in a city with trams and street works during nights). Almost unbearable to sleep in such a hot room, not comfortable at all. Wardrobe in the same space as the coffemaking machine.......had to remove dresses before boiling the water. Booked this room at the same time as a friend who chose a cheaper room category. Friend got a larger room, better organised and towards a side street with a big window that you could open which means more air, and my room was still more expensive - so I didn't have any luck. Find it strange that you don't get the category you've booked.........The hotel is quiet which is nice but no people visiting the bar or restaurant in the evening - a feeling of abandonment. So when booking this hotel, ask a bit more carefully about the space and the category!

Everything was perfect. Reasonably priced. The room was cozy with a spacious bathroom. Hotel breakfast had a lot of variety. Location was also great, we were able to walk to all of our sightseeing destinations. They also allowed us a late check out. The front door is a little bit scary as it opens towards you as you approach!

Room: a bit tired. Generally clean but the bathroom needs a deep clean esp. the black mold in the shower. Service: 5* service. Staff are friendly and helpful. Location: Good location with public transport. Close to the bus to airport. Other: Breakfast's food and included. The hotel looks great. As a 18th century building, the level of maintenance is not too bad. Will consider coming back if the hotel price is reasonable.

We recently stayed at the Elite Plaza. As others have stated, the building is very old. The rooms are somewhat dated. There is no A/C nor coffee maker in the room. The location is quiet in the evenings. It is about a 15 minute walk to Old Town. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was good.

Yelp
Terrible! Our room had very small windows facing a VERY noisy alley. The interior design feels old and has "dents" here and there which was very surprising!! Cleaning looks very sloppy with dirty mirrors and dirty bathroom details. Hotel breakfast needs a update from only serving meat with no options for a vegetarian. Also had a VERY rude experience with the bar personel at Bishops arms on the bottom floor and noisy bar! The service was not very accommodating and I would only recommend the hotel for its cool lobby or location. I would never recommend this place :(

Yelp
The Plaza is situated in a very central location in Gothenburg. The building is truly a grand old building. It dates from 1889 and considerable effort appears to have been taken to preserve the old fashioned charm The service when checking in was swift and polite. Was given my room within a few minutes of arriving. The room was on the fourth floor and I was pleasantly surprised that it was fairly big. The decor was not entirely new and modern but it did fit the style of the hotel. The room had a good sized desk, comfortable chairs as well as a very comfortable bed. There were plenty of lamps in the room but would have been nice to have a light switch controlling all lamps (now I had to walk around the room to turn on several lamps). There was no iron, ironing board or coffee/tea making facilities but there was a sign at the desk that one could ask the reception for it - did ask and it was promptly brought to my room. The hotel of course offers free wifi and a pretty good selection of TV channels. The bathroom was fairly small but still sufficient. It had a tub (and there were bathrobes in the room).Seeing that it is a five star hotel I would have expected better quality shower gel, shampoo etc, now it was the standard stuff one finds in all Elite hotels. The hotel has a nice pub (the same chain as in many other elite hotels, the Bishops Arms) in the basement and there is also a very nice restaurant. The spa and fitness centre are also above average. Breakfast was not excellent but not as poor as some others have stated. The selection of bread, cold food etc was good. The hot food was limited but good quality. A bit annoying that they charge extra for additional things such as some variety's of coffee (like lattes etc) as well as omelette's, pancakes and such. Service and quality wise I would not rate the hotel as a five star hotel but considering the price level it is not priced as a five star hotel either so to me it is really great for the price paid.

Yelp
First night was not good. Too cold and there was a club making fours through the floors until 2 in the morning on a thursday. The service on the other hand is excellent and they are eager to make sure you have a pleasant time. So the next two nights were great in an other room! Thanks

Yelp
A lovely hotel. Rooms are of good size, well appointed. Front desk staff are professional, efficient, and friendly. Since a group of us were visiting the city regularly, the staff remembered our names and each person's preference for room. The restaurant (Swea Hof) is one of the best in Gothenburg, and if you know Gothenburg, you know this city has no shortage of good restaurants. Swea Hoff's menu leans on fish / shell fish, but meat entries are excellent too. Every dish is exquisitely presented, a feast for your eyes and mouth. Oh, same room for desserts, Valrhona chocolate mousse is quite addictive. There is also a bar / restaurant in the basement, good quality burgers and fish and chips. You will see a lot of locals hanging out there on pay day. Conference rooms are available, including one in an old "cellar"/vault. Swea Hoff does catering for these meeting rooms, and they don't miss any details. If you drive, valet parking is available. Highly recommended. There is another Elite Hotel in Gothenburg on street Avenyn, but I prefer this one.

Yelp
Hotel and room were a bit old. Well located in the city. Didn't try the restaurant. Staff was very helpful.
