The cabin was remodeled and well decorated and we enjoyed the wildlife.
However, the cabin had a very strong carpet fresh odor, 2 air fresheners, a big bowl of potpourri, that smelled synthetic. My husband usually does not notice what places smell like. However, he was very unhappy with all of the fake smells. It was overwhelming even after being aired out for 3 hours. One bedroom was not made up, the bed was on end, standing against the wall, with bedding and pillows on the floor, and there was so much carpet fresh under where the bad had been that we were concerned it was drywall, and that the room was under construction. Nice places should not need to mask odors. More often that not, what you are trying to cover up, smells no worse then all of the fake smells. And if it does smell badly enough to need a ton of carpet fresh, then I think the carpets need to be properly cleaned. At $300 a night, I expect to not have to deal with a perfume or funky odors. Luxury condos have it down to a science and clean well enough to get the smell out, so that they don't try to hide odors with carpet fresh and air fresheners. That is tacky. Such great cabins it's sad to tacky it up with fake smells.
