Our cycling group of 13 riders and 2 SAG drivers stayed at Elk Meadow Cabins during a multi-day ride from Brookings, OR to Fortuna, CA. This was our halfway point, and I’ll admit I was a little nervous about what we’d find—especially since the Google Earth image wasn’t very flattering. But we were thrilled with the experience!
We rented three cabins, and all of them were spotless, well-maintained, and thoughtfully equipped. Each cabin had a back porch with a BBQ grill, which was perfect for our group dinner (one for meat, one for vegetables, and one for bread). We brought our own coolers full of beer ;). Inside, the cabins even had air purifiers—a nice touch for anyone with allergies, even in the middle of the forest.
The property easily accommodated our support vehicles, including a van and a Tahoe pulling a 16-foot enclosed trailer, so parking was no issue. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, with elk wandering the property (though they kept their distance). For group activities, there was a large fire pit with benches, outdoor games like cornhole, and even a big hot tub (which we didn’t get to use because we were too busy enjoying the fire and BBQ!).
For a remote location, Elk Meadow Cabins exceeded expectations in every way. The price was very reasonable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for clean, comfortable accommodations in a gorgeous natural setting.
