My sister and I had a wonderful 3 night stay in the 13 B Bear Den cabin. The comfortable room was well equipped with fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The location was ideal for hiking in the Prairie Creek Redwoods and on trails in the Sue-Meg State Park and around Trinidad. We enjoyed seeing the elk in the mornings when they would come very near the cabins. We also enjoyed the communal hot tub after long days of hiking. The management was very friendly and helpful. We splurged on a hike in Fern Canyon with Redwood Adventures (booked through the hotel website) and it was well worth the money spent! We had Eileen as our guide and she was excellent. It was nice to be unplugged for awhile to enjoy the beauty of this place and the surrounding area.

We rented out 5 of the large cabins for a family reunion. This place was fantastic! Extremely clean, a fantastic location, plenty of lawn games and activities to keep the kids entertained all while being in the middle of the redwoods. Bogart and his team were always helpful. I'd definitely come back and stay here again.

5 stars Elk Meadow Cabins was the perfect home base for exploring all the nearby redwood parks—easy access to some of the most beautiful hikes we’ve ever done. The location is incredible, with elk roaming freely around the property and the cutest birds right outside your window. The cabin itself was absolutely spotless—modern appliances, super comfy beds and linens, and not a trace of clutter. You can really tell the owners care about cleanliness and comfort and go the extra mile to make it feel like home. We truly enjoyed our stay. Thank you for such a peaceful and memorable experience!

Clean, comfortable, close to many trails. This felt like staying with friends or family. Very homey. Lots of space to spread out. Big bathroom with ample space for toiletries and plenty of extra towels. Great shower with removable head. Watching the herd of elk while we ate breakfast was such a neat experience. Would recommend 9A Prairie Creek Suite to anyone!

Google
Perfect studio providing all that can be wished for : high speed internet (precious in this remotes area), fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, bbq next to an outside table especially perfect for breakfast as it gets the morning sun, good bedding. |Add the great location for any Redwood NP activities. We’ll be back if we can.|To make it absolutely perfect, we would just enjoy a more cosy backyard to improve the space away from the road. This space provide the community jacuzzi which is great but also some containers which are not the perfect surrounding . Anyway, it is a great place and a great cabin (no 7) where we’d love stay again. !

We spent a wonderful 2 nights at Elk Meadow Cabins. It is the perfect location to visit the Redwoods, and the beach. Our cabin 19A was very clean, comfortable and provided enough space for my parents and my kids! The kitchen had everything we needed and at night it was nice and quiet. I look forward to staying her again.

We stayed at Elk Meadow Cabins last weekend and had a wonderful experience. The cabins were clean, cozy, and nestled in a peaceful, quiet setting—perfect for relaxing after a day of hiking. The location is ideal, just minutes away from the park and several beautiful trails.||The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. A special shoutout to Bogat, who went above and beyond to assist us—he was fantastic! When we realized we had left an item behind, the team acted quickly and mailed it back to us right away.||Highly recommend Elk Meadow Cabins for anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient base while exploring the Redwoods!

My husband and I stayed in Oreq-B Ranch House for 3 nights. We arrived shortly after 6pm and we were surprised the lights on inside the house. It was a nice welcoming touch. Although the check in email mentioned the lock box for the key, we just key in the code on the electronic touchpad without using the physical key. The house was clean, cozy and close to all hiking trails around. There was back porch and big backyard with two cornhole boards and a net that maybe for volleyball. The TV volume was weird that you need to turn off TV to reset the volume (set first, then turn off) and you can't change it. If you want to change it, you will need to set a new volume and turn it off. We didn't figure out first night and had to put subtitle on because the volume was extremly low like wispers. We brought our Roku so streaming wasn't a issue. They have throws, dehumifier, kitchen pot/ pan/ drainer etc. The only minor disadvange was no closet to hang clothes. So we lay clothes over the love seat couch or recliners, and put carry-ons on the floor. Oversall, we had great time and would recommend Oreq-B for the couple.

Yelp
Outstanding cabins within walking distance of Trillium Falls. It's a little remote and service is spotty, but the cabins have wi-fi. The cabins themselves are wonderful and have everything you'll need from dishes to linens. I would definitely recommend staying here if you have a large family and want to see the Redwoods.

Yelp
This is a perfect place to stay. The cabin was clean and the front desk was very helpful. Very nice.

Yelp
The ONLY reason I'm not giving my stay 5 stars is because I had to pay a $150 cleaning fee. For an extra $150 I expected the place to be spotless! That was not the case. Our dishes had food on them, I wrote "wash me" in the dust on the blinds and there were dust bunnies in the corners of the guest room and under the furniture of the master bedroom. Other than that, the cabin was perfect.

Yelp
This place is amazing and worth every dollar. Great for children and family gatherings. The Elk are so beautiful and walk around the cabins at least they did when I was there. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
We decided to make a quick getaway during our son's spring break and booked this for two nights "last minute"... It was an AMAZING experience and we will definitely return! Check in was super simple, and the cabin was clean/sanitized, well stocked with plenty of linens, pots and pans and pretty much everything except food. The close proximity to the elk was incredible! Our first morning waking up to the herd RIGHT OUTSIDE the cabin was an added bonus! Staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the area and where to go for hiking, food, etc.

Yelp
The best thing about the Elk Meadow Cabins was the location. You are close to all the things that you want to do if you are in the area. Only a short drive in either direction will take you to wonderful areas of the Redwoods. The cabin itself was a little disappointing. We had the cabin that is by itself in the front. The cabin smelled like someone used a whole bottle of air fresher and then closed the windows. The couch had that sticky feeling of way too much use and not enough deep cleaning. The bathroom door didn't shut/ properly since the lock had been removed. Since the lock was gone the door wouldn't stay closed on it's own.

Yelp
Justin, our mountain biking guide, was one of the best we've had. He is a highly qualified nature expert on the Redwoods. Our day was super fun, interesting and we learned so much abut the Redwoods. We loved biking through the forest. Once in a lifetime!! The lodge was very comfy, spacious and clean. Basic but very comfortable in an amazing location. Justin also took us to special "secret" location where most people don't know about!

Yelp
The cabins are houses! They have absolutely everything you could possibly need to cook, bbq, laundry, spread out and stay with your family while traveling. Although the week we were there - not 1 Elk was seen - it was a great home base to go out and explore all the trails and sights in the area from Eureka to Crescent City. We were able to really explore and enjoy the area in depth. The only ding - the WiFi. It's practically nonexistent. Even though we are in the woods intentionally, people still need to be accessible to pet care / job / family check-ins and have the ability to access their trail map downloads via the internet. If they improve this aspect = this place is 5 STAR all the way.

Jason D.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing and breathtaking. Rented the Johnny Redwoods cabin and was not disappointed. The owners of the property go out of their way to make the experience over the top wonderful. The cabin was fully stocked with every household item we could need; cooking utensils, silverware, towels, glasses, plates, cookware, bbq, washer, and dryer, on and on. The decor in the cabin was very well appointed and reflected the local history of the area. Though we live in the local area, this place and service took my breath away.

Yelp
We vacation here every year. Beautiful location and very close to Prairie Creek State Park which has the best hiking/walking trails in the redwoods park system. The "cabins" (3 bdrm , 2 bath houses) are great. Our only complaints are that, in the dog cabin, one of the single beds has an uncomfortable mattress and one of the showers is too tight for adults. Other than that, this place is perfect. P.S. Wi-Fi can be very slow and there is no cell service (you'll have to go to Orick for that).
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
My wife and I were camping in elk prairie and heard about a storm coming through on the weekend. We decided to check this place out, unfortunately they did not have any dog friendly cabins available but the clerk at the desk called around some other places to see if they were dog friendly and even showed us on a map to find them. It was hard to get signal on the 101 so his help was greatly appreciated. Hope to be able to stay here one day.

Yelp
Stayed at one of the studio apartments, which was in Orick and not in the main elk meadow cabins location. I felt that the studio in Orick was misrepresented because there were no elk around, and it was in a remote area with no office support. The location felt a bit unsafe to be honest and is right on the freeway and no chance of seeing elk. The larger elk meadow rooms in the main location look to be very nice (we stopped there looking for our room but then were directed to drive a few miles down the road). So be wary when booking that if you stay in the studio it may not have all the same amenities listed because it is a different location. The inside of the studio was nice, and had a full kitchen and grill which were very handy.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of staying here in the Lady Bird Johnson Cabin in November of last year with my family and it was nothing short of incredible! The location is a perfect launching pad to see any of the Redwood National or State Parks and is just off the highway. The home was kept in immaculate condition and we woke up to perhaps two dozen elk slowly making their away across the meadow. It was an unforgettable sight. All in all, my only regret was staying only one night -- if you have the opportunity to come here, spend at least two nights here -- while the prices are steep during peak season, it is well worth it. I look forward to returning soon. Many thanks for a wonderful family vacation.

Yelp
My daughter and I spent four wonderful days in the Redwoods, staying at Elk Meadows Cabins, and these cabins are wonderful! Furnished, cozy, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, fully stocked kitchen, WiFi, TV, and a backyard deck with BBQ, table & chairs. Elk wandered through the cabin grounds most of the days we were there, coming right up to the cabin itself, and when they didn't come to us, we could walk about 100 yards down the highway to find them. Great hikes in the Redwoods both near (10 minutes) and farther away (1 hour). We shopped for groceries in Trinidad 30 minutes away and enjoyed making our own meals just like we were at home. But we were in the Redwoods! You will enjoy your stay here.

Yelp
We had a great stay at Elk Meadows! Woke up both morning to Elk in front and back of our cabin! The people who run the place are very accommodating and friendly. The cabins are very nice. Satellite TV, Wifi, fully furnished... Lots of great hiking and site seeing to do in the area. I highly recommend staying here.

Emily M.

Yelp
We have stayed here twice in the last year and love it! Homes are spacious and great for families, clean and well-equipped. Elk and other wildlife abundant on and near the property. Tons of amazing hikes in close proximity. Justin offers great tours and is wonderful with kids and filled with tons of information about local wildlife and nature. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
I like the website, nice and clear. The cabin (#9) was kept very clean + comfortable. All the little signs in the house were helpful. Having W/D in the house and soap was a bonus! I did not care for the Thursday night BBQ nor music, but nice welcoming feel to it. Great place to stay for all the great hike trails there. We plan to be back.

Yelp
Great cabins with three bedrooms, TV and wifi. And the Elk! This is one of their stomping grounds and they spent an entire day just hanging around the cabins. What great fun! And a perfect central location by the Redwoods. So many trails to choose from that are 5-10 minutes away. We loved it and would gladly stay again. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful as well. We really liked our tour with Ken.

Yelp
Would have been nice but when we arrived no one was at the office and many services and tours advertised were not available. When we saw no one was at the office we had to drive back to town to get reception and call and were told to use a code to get our keys. Which is fine but for the cost someone should really be there to show us our cabin and give us info. When I asked about the tours or bike rentals advertised they said they didn't have anyone on site or available to do that. Didn't get any info about other options or recommendations on what to do in the area. We were also looking forward to using the jacuzzi but it had no power. The wifi also did not work and there is no cell reception there. When I sent an email asking if could get a discount on the price because of all these issues I received no response so I am giving this place 1 star. Highly recommend the Lost Whale instead if you don't need a whole cabin.

Teddi D.

Yelp
We stayed in cabin #9 and it was 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, a single-car garage and even had a washer/dryer unit so we could do laundry. The cabin was beautifully appointed, nice furniture and relaxing atmosphere. Big windows to enjoy the gorgeous view of coastal mountains and meadow. Elk walked by just yards off the back deck (oh, yes, there's a back deck with BBQ and a picnic table). The cabins are all close together, so it's a great place to bring family or friends and each get a cabin so the kids can play together. Safely off the road so the kids have a grassy play area without concern for traffic issues. Really enjoyed our stay. Very relaxing.

Yelp
My family stayed here this past month during HSU's graduation. It was great! Beautiful cabin with all the amenities. It was a very relaxing visit and they were able to see elk every morning.

Gary B.

Yelp
WOW! Wife & I stayed here October 1-18, 2015. All cabins are 3 bdrm. Stayed in Johnny Redwood Cabin #19, farthest from Hwy 101. Spotless, comfortable and well equipped. WiFi so so. Came for the elk and that is what we got. This cabin has largest front yard tree. Seems the tree leaves are an elk delicacy. Afternoon of 2nd day had (best I could count) 53 elk in front yard and meadow across the street. As photos show, one of the cows sampled my beer, scratched her head on car side mirror and gazed in the front window (got food in there?). Only problem was getting them to leave so we could use the car to go to 5:30 dinner reservation in Patricks Point. An absolutely amazing stay. If you want to experience nature up close and personal without leaving the house, this is the place to do. Thank you Elk Meadow Cabins for such a comfortable and unique experience. Can't figure out how to upload photos. What a shame.

Kaitlin T.

Yelp
Elk meadow is an excellent place to stay! I highly recommend taking the half day tour of the redwoods, as it is not very strenuous and Justin Legge is a great tour guide! You can find many quick meal items at the market up the street, but don't count on meat products. If you plan on going to Eureka to eat, call ahead and make reservations. Wifi is in and out, and there is no cell service, but they do have a land line in each cabin. As everyone said, the elk are right outside the cabin, and a great site to see! The cabin is clean and spacious, we had 6 adults and it was fine.

Yelp
We drove from LA to Seattle on the PCH. Rather than stopping in Crescent City at a less expensive hotel, I thought it would be fun to try out a cabin in the Redwood Forest. We had no idea what to expect. We have a dog, so the fact that the cabins are dog friendly was a big plus. We stayed in a three bedroom cabin, it was very clean and spacious. The grounds were nice and well kept. We were pleasantly surprised to wake up to a large herd of elk in our back yard. They were amazing, there were several calves and they were so cute. It was an experience we will not soon forget. The only reason I rated it a 4 star and not 5, is because it is not the Ritz, there are no TV's in the bedrooms, and limited access to wifi, but then again that is not why we stayed there. It was well worth it and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to get away and experience nature.

Yelp
We stayed at Elk Meadow in April 2015. it was FANTASTIC!!! We woke up to Elk either in the yard or in the nearby feild every single day. The cabin was great, enough space for our family of 5. Bring food because the local market doesn't have much. We hope to come back. We also went on 2 adventures with Ken, it was amazing!! Our 3 boys loved it! We loved seeing and doing things we wouldn't normally do or even know about. Ken personalized the Adventures to meet our needs and ages or our kids (7,5,3) We loved everything about the vacation!!

Ashley D.

Yelp
We didn't stay here but we drive through and did the mountain biking tour. We met here at the camp ground and our tour guide took us through the park. We also saw Elk (from a distance) and the trees were amazing! We rode for about 4 hours and it was a great experience.

stephanie B.

Yelp
This place was a godsend on day 7 or 8 of a road trip. For about $160 we got our own pre-fab 3 bedroom house, complete with a washer and dryer! Clean undies for us. It looks new, is totally clean and homey, and there is a firepit on the grounds--we spent the whole night around our bonfire. The cabins have back decks with bbqs too. And the elks roaming around the backyard are quite a sight!

Yelp
Wow, what an amazing deal, we literally woke up with Elk in our yard every day we were there!! It's also in a super awesome location for visiting the redwoods (go to Prairie Creek State Park!)

Yelp
I brought fifteen people, including my Brother all the way from Texas, and rented two cabins. Both were wonderful! My family and friends had a fantastic time. A true home away from home. Completely stocked kitchen was great! My Brother and I stayed four nights and the night the rest of the family showed we were all greeted by the Elk, (Elk invasion more like it...and was great!). My sons were shooting some hoops at the camps basketball net and the Elk joined in! The Elk were so curious about the basketball they started kicking it around like a soccer ball, all wanting a turn. Very cool place, We all want to come back. The cabins are wonderful and the scenery is surreal. and yet with all that going...They also have the greatest staff! Friendly and helpful but never get in your way or disturb you at all. Thanks Grant and crew! A very big thanks to Donna who was outstanding help when I was trying to arrange two cabins, fifteen people, pets, and a surprise birthday party! Thanks again your the best!!!! Ron

Angela M.

Yelp
The cabin was remodeled and well decorated and we enjoyed the wildlife. However, the cabin had a very strong carpet fresh odor, 2 air fresheners, a big bowl of potpourri, that smelled synthetic. My husband usually does not notice what places smell like. However, he was very unhappy with all of the fake smells. It was overwhelming even after being aired out for 3 hours. One bedroom was not made up, the bed was on end, standing against the wall, with bedding and pillows on the floor, and there was so much carpet fresh under where the bad had been that we were concerned it was drywall, and that the room was under construction. Nice places should not need to mask odors. More often that not, what you are trying to cover up, smells no worse then all of the fake smells. And if it does smell badly enough to need a ton of carpet fresh, then I think the carpets need to be properly cleaned. At $300 a night, I expect to not have to deal with a perfume or funky odors. Luxury condos have it down to a science and clean well enough to get the smell out, so that they don't try to hide odors with carpet fresh and air fresheners. That is tacky. Such great cabins it's sad to tacky it up with fake smells.

D G.

Yelp
We stayed 3 days in the Lady Bird cabin and we had such a wonderful time. The cabin had absolutely everything we needed. The location was great for we were near many great hiking trails and did both coastal and redwood hikes. We had a herd of wild elk right in our back yard our second morning there. It was amazing! The only thing I wish I had realized was just how far away a good grocery store was. The Orick market leaves much to be desired with rotting produce and items on the shelves that had expired over a year earlier. I would stop in Eureka on the way up (if you're coming North on the 101) and stock up there. It's only about 45 mins- 1 hour away from the cabins. With a full kitchen and a BBQ it would have been nice to have better food to prepare.

Jeff N.

Yelp
Great place to stay...very clean, super convenient homebase after long days of hiking. Totally a home away from home, all the amenities you need. There is a reason they call this Elk meadow. They hang out here right across the street and provide a great view from the picture windows of your cabin.

Christine S.

Yelp
This is such a wonderful place. We felt very safe and comfortable. The cabins have all the comforts of a regular home (just bring your shampoo and food) - plus the layout and decor is very pleasant and comfortable. The people who run it were very nice and helpful. A small herd of elk seem to make the grounds theirs, so you have much closer viewing access than probably anywhere else in the park. It's close to all the main trails and attractions and Newton B Drury scenic parkway. We stayed for a week and did not want to leave. This might have been my favorite vacation ever, and staying here was a big part of that.

Deborah E.

Yelp
We have not yet had our stay yet. But have already had a frustrating experience. The reservations agent told us they would charge us 25% deposit prior to the stay. They did NOT tell us they would charge the full amount inside 30 days. The full amount of the stay was charged on the wrong card. Elk Meadow Cabins told me they would reimburse the card and put the charge on a preferred card for that large amount, but when I called back with the new card # they said they would also charge us 4% MORE to change the credit cards. We have people traveling long distance from different places across the country to join us for this trip. Having to collect money from people as early as 30 days prior to the stay is a great inconvenience. Having so much money charged to my card without authorization, permission or notice feels like a violation. It sure must be nice to run a business where you can collect that much money from people that far out from even having to fulfill the service, give them no choice as to how they pay and threaten to charge them extra money to make it right. Just warning future guests to be wary of this situation.
