It's so sad to see how poorly this resort is now being run. We booked my parents a cabin in July 2024. They arrived and the bedroom light didn't work in one of the bedrooms. Two men came but couldn't fix it so it was just a dark room for 3 nights. We also had to call them because the tv wouldn't turn on and the kitchen faucet constantly ran. They were able to fix these two items.|The pool is absolutely disgusting. I agree with many of the recent reviews. It should be condemned. The change rooms are missing ceiling tiles. The hot tub and pool liners are in terrible condition. The floor tiles are gross. ||In July 2023, we rented my parents a hotel room. They were basically in a dungeon- there was one small window and that was it for natural light. I'm going to go ahead and guess that this was one of their last rooms available...for a reason. Their door key didn't work and they couldn't fix it. They ended up giving them the MASTER key for their 3 night stay. I certainly don't think this is a safe option for every other family in the hotel. Thankfully my parents are good and honest people! During this visit, we went to the restaurant. There was one cook and one waiter. The food was decent but there were flies everywhere and they two employees were snipping comments to one another.|After giving this resort two tries in two years- we won't be renting a cabin or hotel room again. This place is desperate for new ownership. We'll stick with the campsite from now on.

We travel 3 hours from Saskatchewan, have stayed at this location on 2 different occasions (one time with our dog, both time were a bunch of friends who had planned a skii trip to Hidden Valley and both times Hidden Valley had closed for the day) and although the let down of the skiing being cancelled, we always always thoroughly enjoyed the accommodation at Elkwater and made the most of it. The units are stunning, clean, modern with stunning views. The service is always so friendly and accommodating, early check in late check outs if we were inconvenienced in any way by skiing cancellation. The staff are understanding and pleasant. I love coming here and the last time was when we brought our dog with and it was so enjoyable. We end up cooking up a storm, playing games with friends and enjoying the views. I tell my husband that whenever he wants to plan something nice for our lil family, to book us in here again. I truly truly love these units. Thank you

This hotel is not worth the money. It used to be a nice place but has since changed ownership and has went downhill. We found a cockroach in our room which we killed with my boot. The pull out bed was nothing but springs. We asked for towels and they were wet. The restaurant used to be good but is overpriced and mediocre. The pool was ice cold with a garden hose attached to a hot water tap in attempt to heat it. The hot tub was hot enough to boil a lobster. The front desk made me pay for my entire stay before check out. This place is awful.

This is actually the third time I have stayed at the Lodge and I have enjoyed it each time. Our room was comfortable. We enjoyed a visit to the pool and hot tub. Although the hot tub was extremely warm!! We enjoyed a very nice dinner at Buglers, the onsite restaurant. It was a great place to finish our eight week long journey across Canada and back. We certainly enjoyed the wonderful views of the Cypress Hills and southern Alberta.

This place has so much potential to be an amazing escape! But it is just not. We recently stayed for a quick getaway/ ski trip/ staycation between Christmas and new years. Since the change in ownership 5 or so years ago this place has been on a steady decline nothing is properly maintained anymore the whole place feels like a run down (but overpriced) cheap motel. The restaurant has strange hours and has questionable cleanliness….it’s really sad as this used to be a very nice hotel but due to mismanagement and no maintenance or upkeep it is now not worth staying at, even though it is the only place to stay in elkwater

We had a wonderful stay at Elkwater Lake Resort and Lodge. The atmosphere is great and the staff and friendly and helpful. The resort has so much to offer for a rejuvenating and relaxing getaway. Its surroundings offer so many opportunities: swimming, hiking, 18 hole miniature golf, lounging by the lake. We had a king jacuzzi suite and it was wonderful. A jacuzzi built for two! A kitchen with basic dishes, microwave, full fridge with freezer, living room area, lawn chairs on the patio and close access to a barbecue and Indoor swimming pool. We did have an issue with the toilet, which they tried to repair but they need to replace. The hot tub jets in the pool area also need repair; but since we had our own private jacuzzi tub it wasn’t an issue for us. They also have e-bikes available for rent but, during our 4-day visit, we ran out of time and didn’t end up renting them. ** I highly recommend Elkwater Lake Resort and Lodge for a great getaway.

The suite we stayed in was so lovely. Very clean and elegant! That is what I perfectly like in a hotel! It was the best choice! Me and my daughters enjoyed a lot! The swimming pool and the restaurant was superb! Our pets enjoyed as well. I will definitely recommend 👍💯

We used to come here many years ago when we lived in the area. I always wanted to stay here, and I got to knock that item off my bucket list. It was everything I hoped. If you'd like to know what it's like to vacation here, I'll share a story from my stay. I needed a late check in, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I pulled up and was greeted by the sweetest golden retriever. I gave him some attention, and he lapped it up. He must have decided we were friends because he followed me into the lobby to check in. I just assumed he must belong to the family that runs the resort and thought nothing of it. Really one of the sweetest dogs. There was no one around, but my keys and everything were ready for me. (It was so nice just to be able to go straight to my room after driving in less-than-ideal weather all day.) I teased the dog that my room must have come with a friend. It really was the best greeting after a long trip and a longer week. He seemed to agree. The dog followed me back out of the lobby to where a truck had pulled up. A guy and two boys got out. Turns out they live in town and the dog had gotten out of the yard. They were quite thankful and very relieved to find their furry loved one. We chatted for a minute or two as they loaded the dog in the truck. Best part? The roads down from the highway were really yucky, so I asked the dog's owner if he knew about what time the snow plow goes through. "Did you know my dad works for Volker Stevin?" The boy asked. I had no idea. I was sort of shocked for a minute. So of course, he knew exactly when the plow would go through. That really made my night 😂😍 It's always beautiful here, but there's something special about this place in the winter. Everyone is so friendly and kind. The rooms are luxurious enough without being pretentious. They have a small town Alberta charm that just gives you a sense of peace. Can't recommend this place enough. I came purely to relax and unwind, and I left with unexpected memories and a smile.
