Ella Okreech cottages

We stayed for two nights and this was a great place for a base in Ella. Close to the Main Street where all of the restaurants and shops are, as well as the road which leads to Little Adam’s Peak. Rooms were spacious and clean, no complaints really however there is a steep incline to reach the cottages so probably not great for elderly and those who struggle uphill.

The place had its pros and cons. On the positive side, the laundry service was very affordable, and the two individuals managing the place provided excellent service—they were friendly and attentive. The charges for beverages were also very reasonable, making it a budget-friendly option. it's situated at the heart of Ella town. However, there were some significant downsides. Accessibility was a major challenge due to the steep terrain, which made it difficult for elderly individuals or those with mobility issues, and the place wasn't wheelchair-friendly. It was also quite noisy during my visit. The water pressure was poor, and we suspected it was broken, as we couldn’t get warm enough water for a proper shower. We had to request a pail to fill warm water manually, which was inconvenient.

My partner and I stayed at Ella Okreech Cottages for three days, and this was without a doubt the best accommodation we experienced in Sri Lanka. The setting is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views of Ella Rock and Little Adam's Peak. It's peaceful and serene, making it a perfect retreat. The staff were phenomenal—so helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Yogi for making our stay even more memorable! We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ella, and we’ll definitely stay here again when we return.

Our stay at this cottage resort was very enjoyable, thanks largely to the exceptional hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to help with issues beyond the scope of our stay, and both the owner and team were consistently humble and accommodating. The resort itself is beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery with thoughtfully designed pathways that preserve the area’s natural charm. The facilities and service fully justify the cost. However, the only drawback was the lack of an a-la-carte menu. While the kitchen provides meals, you need to order in advance from a limited selection, making it difficult to adjust portions at dinnertime. If you want more food than ordered, you may need to wait or head to the market. The place is highly recommended for a stay if you’re okay with a steep walk to the nearby market for any day-to-day needs.

Nestled in the heart of Ella, this charming accommodation is just a short 2-4 minute walk from all the main attractions, making it the perfect base for exploring the area. The location couldn't be more convenient, with stunning views and easy access to local cafes, shops, and scenic spots. Gihan and Viranga, the hosts, are incredibly kind and attentive. Their warmth and helpfulness truly enhance the experience, as they go above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcomed and supported throughout their stay. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy Ella’s beauty and hospitality!

The rooms are very comfortable. Easy access to Ella town. I had a pleasant stay. Nothing much to complain about. For the price range, It is one of the places that you should consider If you're looking for a place in Town but definitely not the best place to stay. Service is not 100% but we can't complain.

The room was beautiful, with a little veranda with chairs, a hammock, and a picknick table in the front. A kettle, a little fridge, and some tea were there as well. The warm showers are very much appreciated, as well as the free drinking water upstairs next to the office. Only thing is that our room smelled a bit moldy, and gave me a few minor asthma attacks. Nevertheless, I can very much recommend this place!
