Our stay was LOVELY. The 24-hour check in process meant we could do a short trip with no worries. It was cheaper than surrounding hotels, the room and entire B&B felt luxurious with so many intentional touches. I woke up taken back in time, except this dream had fantastic breakfast and a lovely, caring, personable hostess. We definitely recommend the cottage cakes. This kind of quality and hospitality is hard to find - book for the lovely accommodations, book again and again when you realize how comfortable it is. Parking is available on the lot and street for free, it's close to downtown, the sheets are soft. Definitely coming back next time we're in SLC!

I loved my stay at Ellerbeck and was sad to leave because I didn’t get to enjoy it as much as I wanted to with my schedule while out there! The rooms each have so much personality and the bed was incredibly cozy. I loved the details of the vintage style keys to get into rooms and all the body products smelled amazing. The best part however was innkeeper Victoriya, how easy it was to get ahold of if any questions but the amazing amazing breakfast she made in the morning. Everything felt so personal and I can’t wait to come back.

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend. I can't say enough good things about it. The location is fantastic, but it's outdone by the outstanding service, hospitality, and attention to detail. The innkeepers keep in close communication and are so kind and helpful! You can self check in, which is great for flexibility, too. Also, I have stayed in many bed and breakfast and the food quality here was definitely the best! I added some pictures of the food for reference. Only thing missing is a picture of the scrumptious chocolate chip cookies that always greet you by the front door.

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. It’s in the cutest historic district and we enjoyed a few great walks to admire the old homes. We stayed in the Wasatch Suite and it was beautiful and clean. The bed was so comfy with lots of fluffy blankets. Check-in was easy, breakfast was delicious with good conversation and the service was excellent.

This was the second time that my wife and I have stayed at the Ellerbeck. The previous time we stayed in the Wasatch Suite, which is a lovely room, but it’s right next to the highest traffic location in the house, so we opted to try the Deseret room, which is on the second floor, directly above the Wasatch room. It is also a lovely room with era-appropriate furnishings, but it is MUCH quieter and more private than the Wasatch room. Of course, Victoriya was a wonderful hostess for both trips and the cookies she provides at checkin and the treats that she prepares for breakfast are amazingly good. I had the protein pancakes today, and they were absolutely delicious, as were the bacon and eggs that accompanied them. We would definitely stay here again. I would like to check out the Uintas Suite and the Beehive cottage for future trips.

We quite enjoyed our stay at the historic Ellerbeck Inn. The house was a walk back in time with many original period pieces and details of history. The breakfast was DELICIOUS and plentiful. A couple of considerations — we stayed in the Sunstone Suite — time to change the mattress way too soft and mushy. Bathroom was adequate but shower is quite small and floor too slippery as it is the kind you add on and obviously wasn’t part of the original house — Consider having coffee available for guests not just tea. Also consider an option for food for early morning departures. We left very early to catch a flight and while we were accommodated with yogurt and granola to go, there was no option for any pastries or coffee…..Just some additional touches that would elevate what was a very pleasant stay.

I had the most amazing stay at The Ellerbeck Bed & Breakfast! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the beautiful decor – every detail was so thoughtfully done, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The hospitality was outstanding, with kind and smiley staff who truly made me feel at home. The breakfast was hands down the best I’ve ever had at a B&B – fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. And as a bonus, the connected Café 140B was a real treat – perfect for relaxing with a coffee or a bite during the day. I wholeheartedly recommend Ellerbeck to anyone looking for a charming, comfortable, and memorable stay.

Google
We were searching for a reasonably priced hotel not too far from downtown and the airport. Found the Ellerbeck and were blessed beyond belief. Very comfortable. The Innkeeper was friendly and accommodating. The "room" was actually a basement apartment with all the amenities of an Airbnb or VRBO, but no rules for cleanup upon departure. The house was historic and beautiful yet updated with all the modern conveniences one would expect for a comfortable stay. Additionally, the breakfast was amazing! I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
My friends and I love hosting socials at tea houses, and this one was one of our favorites:) It's so cozy and cute, and we loved how we got the entire room/cottage to ourselves... so, if you're also looking for intimacy and/or privacy... then this is the place for you. (The tea and food options were also yummy:) However, staying over night at the inn was a whole other story. The woman in charge seemed highly stressed and overwhelmed the entire time we were there; and we felt like a burden, even when asking her for the smallest of things (such as, needing help with items of theirs that malfunctioned... in turn, we ultimately decided to just go without). We also felt pressured to leave another tip on top of an 18%-20% gratuity, which, as you can imagine, made us feel very uncomfortable. It's such a shame, and truly disheartening, as we paid a lot of money to sleep there for the night, and were excited to do so, yet, we didn't exactly enjoy our stay there:( Maybe we came on a bad night? At least, I'm hoping that was the case, because I would love to give this place a 5 star rating/review someday. (Having said that, the inn was very historically charming... and their French toast was some of the best French toast I've ever had!)

Yelp
A cute little brunch spot in the aves! The cottage cakes and Johnnycake skillet were so tasty! My only hang up is the price for such small dishes. It seemed like in the past, each entree would come with eggs and a side of bacon or sausage. I wish they still did that because I had to order 2 entrees to even be close as filled! You order at the counter and then everything else is more self-serve such as getting water and putting your plates away.

Yelp
10/10 would come back. Visited from NYC and stayed in SLC for 2 nights before heading to Zion National Park. Place was clean and well run. Vika was an amazing host.

Lisa Z.

Yelp
Tea time at Cafe 140B (located right behind Ellerbeck mansion) was a delight! The most delicious chicken salad sandwiches I've ever had. It was nice to have the whole place to ourselves and we had a wonderful time. We had 10 people in our group and there was plenty of space for all of us. Highly recommend!

Andre S.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop nestled in the avenues. They play music from the 40's and have indoor/outdoor seating. Perfect for a Sunday morning coffee.

Mattie C.

Yelp
Really cute BnB, everything is so thought out, you can really tell that the inn keepers don't miss a single detail. The food was amazing as well. I also selected the option to have flowers and wine in the room when we got there and a picnic we took to a nearby park and spent the evening. Overall it was such a magical stay. I would recommend to anybody to stay here, or even visiting their carriage house for brunch!

Whitney S.

Yelp
Ellerbeck is a lovely b&b! The house is decorated perfectly, like a snapshot from the past, and is lovingly cared for by the sweetest staff. I highly recommend getting breakfast in the onsite carriage house during your stay. I also want to go back and try their tea service. It's obvious that the owners and house and kitchen staff all take pride in their work and want their guests to enjoy their stay. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
This bed and breakfast is locating in a stunning late 1800s mansion. There are only 6 rooms and all have an en suite bath except one. The owners have taken care to respect the glorious architecture, including original floors, fireplaces and stunning stained glass in the main stairway. It was very clean and quiet, as well as being in an excellent location close to restaurants, theaters and museums in downtown Salt Lake City. The breakfast was delicious and features unusual takes on favorites like French toast and biscuits and gravy. If you'd like to enjoy the food without having to stay the night, they have a perfectly charming cafe located in the carriage house that is open for brunch Fri-Sun from 9-2. We will definitely be returning!

Yelp
My three day visit to Salt Lake was a pure dream due to our accommodations. The 120+ year old Ellerbeck Mansion was located in the avenues, an easy jump to all of the local sights. Breakfast in the room was heavenly each morning (a bit heavy on Nutella options, but I hear that most people love Nutella!). Our bathroom was spacious and the common areas were clean and well appointed and so relaxing. The hosts responded to texts and emails and were available without being remotely invasive. I adore this spot and will return.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here for a quick overnight "staycation" and loved it! This old mansion is full of history-and if you want to learn more about the place, there are books and pamphlets a plenty tucked away on shelves or on the mantel by the fireplace that will tell you more. It's located on the corner of a quaint street in the Avenues-just a few blocks from Temple Square and downtown SLC. Each of the six rooms is decorated slightly differently and has an antique character to them. Their motto is "wake up in 1892" and I felt like I did! (Although I'm sure our Utah pioneer ancestors did not have such comfortable beds and luxurious accommodations.) Prior to our arrival, I received a text as well as an email with detailed self-check in instructions. Everything from where to park, which door to enter (along with the code to open the door) and how to find our room were included. Although there was not a person there to "check" us in, I did not feel confused about the process at all. My only complaint would be that I was not able to redeem my Yelp check-in offer, since nobody was there and I didn't feel comfortable texting the on call person for that. We stayed in the Deseret Suite, which had a comfy bed, nice TV as well as a modest bathroom. If you're looking for a spacious tub, this is not where you'll find that. But the soap and the lotion smelled wonderful-I'd love to know where I could purchase some. The best part of our stay was the breakfast. We filled out a card the night before and put it under our door-this told the staff what we'd like to eat. In addition to what we had specified, there were some extra goodies that came along too. Far more than we were able to finish. We've stayed in other B&Bs and found that this breakfast was by far more impressive (and tasty!) We were able to peak into a few other rooms that appeared to not have been rented. They all have a unique charm to them and we are looking forward to returning and trying them all.

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience. We're currently eating our breakfast and I just had to leave a review now (mostly because I always forget when I wait). We booked on Booking.com. They were accommodating with our service dog upon providing documentation via email. After our reservation was confirmed they sent us a code to get into the door to the house. Super easy access. Nice not having to do any in-person check in; key was waiting in the room. You really feel like you're back in the 1800's at times. Really old antique furniture and decor. Simply fantastic. Recommend highly.

Anika R.

Yelp
The bad customer service is truly astonishing. There is a reason why your reviews often say they felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. I was incredibly professional when messaging weeks in advance about who I was, what my purpose here was, where I came from, and what I was doing. If there was going to be extra problems or rules or concerns you could have voiced that before I planned my entire event around the room. My girls that I had come for the shoot were incredibly respectful, kind people. They were all very willing to quiet down. When you had a problem and told them to leave, we packed up our things quickly and went outside in the cold. And just when we thought that we were in the clear to take pictures (considering we were on a public street in SLC) you came out and were rude to me and my girls saying "what you're doing is absolutely not ok." In what world is taking pictures on a street "not ok?" As for the fee? Absolutely not. Me and my husband did not even stay the night there. We did not feel welcomed, respected, or treated like humans for the bare minimum. This experience has been agonizing and frustrating beyond belief. Disappointed in you. Disappointed in your "business" you're running.

Yelp
pretty place! the manager Victoria unfortunately Ruined my stay. She was invading of space, and crazy. Asking for a refund Asap.

Andrea B.

Yelp
Everything about this place exceeded our expectations! I'm not really a bed and breakfast kind of person. I prefer privacy and limited interactions. But, everything about this experience was great!! We got a text message the morning of arrival telling us how to get into the mansion (the place is stunning, by the way, and in a fantastic location). Once you are in the entry there is a sign up sheet where you tell them what time you'd like to eat and what breakfast entree you want-the selections were amazing on paper and even better in my mouth!! They also had delicious looking chocolate chip cookies available for the taking. Vicoryia greeted us once we moved inside. She was very friendly and showed us to our room. The house was so cool!!!! The decor seemed appropriate to the period, which made it even more special. We stayed in the Deseret Suite and loved it!!! All I want is a quiet, clean place and a comfy bed and we got just that! We slept for 9 hours which never happens!! When I opened the door in the morning to go get coffee in the dining area, the smell of breakfast (especially bacon) enveloped me like a warm hug. It was delightful! When we checked out, we asked if they could hold our bags for 4 or 5 hours since our flight wasn't until the evening. They helped us without reservation. Inkeepers Victoryia and Stephanie were wonderful. We'd love to stay here again if we find ourselves in SLC in the future.

Ken H.

Yelp
Wonderful historical home. Great location. Friendly staff. I recommend it! Good breakfast but the coffee was always cold. We were in the Zion room and it was hard to block out the light In the morning. Great bed. I slept better than at home. The grounds are beautiful.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Lovely B&B right in the heart of Salt Lake City. Easy walking distance from shops and restaurants. We stayed here during COVID after needing a getaway from our apartment after 8 months in lockdown. Ellerbeck's contactless check-in process was easy, and we were in our room and settling in in no time. A delicious breakfast was delivered to our door daily, with a rotating menu of offerings. It was a really nice way to relax and unwind in our room before a day of exploring or hiking. The property is well maintained, and I can imagine it's even more lively and welcoming in the normal times. The staff was very friendly and attentive during our stay. Would absolutely book a trip here again.

Zoe K.

Yelp
This place is absolutely incredible! The mansion is stunning and filled with so much historic charm. The rooms are private and each is uniquely cozy. The staff were so helpful and attentive, and the breakfast was truly outstanding. We couldn't believe it all came at such an affordable price! Can't recommend this place enough :)

Layla N.

Yelp
I can not say enough wonderful things about this place. It is immaculate and the inn keeper Victoria is a gem. Not only is she an excellent cook but also a wonderful person to talk to. We were supposed to stay one night but I loved it so much and found breakfast yummy we stayed another night. I look forward to returning here. If you are into church history you will find it throughout the house!

Yelp
Overall this was just and average experience--we had an adequate room with A/C and a private bathroom, and a breakfast. But, it is the little details that make a stay at a B&B special and that make you want to come back... - Having someone there to check you in and show you the place, instead of having to call a number on the door and get a person say that she is just the on call person but we can go in using a code, and then having to figure out on your own which is your room. - Having someone there to fulfill the Yelp check in offer. - Having toilet paper on the dispenser. - Having cold drinks available so my husband doesn't have to go to the nearest gas station at 10 at night. The water bottles in the room were ok but had there been ice or a mini fridge in the dining area with cold water, and perhaps soda it would have been a lot better. - Having name brand snacks available and a little variety. The Walmart brand granola bars were subpar. - Having glass cups in the room instead of plastic cups. - Having bath robes and slippers presented in a way that looked like they had been washed, instead of haphazardly thrown in the wardrobe like if someone had just used them. - Having real flowers in the room instead of dusty, plastic ones. - Having pillows that are not flat as a pancake. - Having someone welcome the guests at breakfast. - Using good quality bread for the French toast instead of cheap sandwich bread, and letting the guest put on her own syrup because she may not like as much. This was our first stay at Ellerbeck, but I will go back to our usual, more comfortable and welcoming Inn on the Hill.

Yelp
This was the perfect place to get a night away. The mansion is absolutely gorgeous and so historic. We were blown away by how beautiful every inch of the house was. The rooms are decorated perfectly, and the bed was big and soft. The covers were very nice as well. The owners make it so easy and hands off. But the real kick is the breakfast in the morning. It was absolutely delicious and huge. We had blueberry pancakes with cream, yogurt and granola with strawberries and pear, and eggs, bacon, and English muffin. My tea even came in a gorgeous tea cup with sugar cubes. They have complimentary food as well, and drinks and beer in a little fridge. We never want to stay in a hotel/motel again. We will definitely be back.

Susan R.

Yelp
My husband and I recently stayed for 2 nights and could not have been more pleased. Our hostess Victoria was warm and helpful and her breakfasts were amazing. The B&B is located close enough to downtown and hiking paths to not have to drive. We would stay there again. Susan W.

Yelp
What a absolutely gorgeous B&B!!! I have never been to one before and my husband whisked me away for my birthday to this place. He was going for girly vibes all day and it did not disappoint! The whole mansion is just so very adorable. Everything is in such good condition yet it's all antique. I really was blown away how the radiators still worked, the radios, everything was so beautiful. The breakfast is the real deal- it was the best part of our two days here. They knock at your door and bring it in on a silver platter. Even the silverware in antique! The food is seriously made with love, and fresh- everything tastes completely homemade even the preserves tasted like they just made it from scratch! They don't tell you what you are getting but first day it was French toast with eggs and bacon, and the second day it was chocolate crepes! With sausage and eggs. All come with your choice of bread, coffee, and tea! I was so blown away- my husband secretly ordered a bottle of champs and roses, and they delivered it to the room and sang happy birthday- it was so beautiful! Robes come nice and cozy to relax in after a long day of site seeing. Overall what a lovely experience I highly recommend to check it out!

AJ S.

Yelp
I had a magical time at Ellerbeck! The innkeeper Victoriya was so lovely and the decor is unmatched. Also as a queer person I felt very safe and welcomed here! I will be back

Parker T.

Yelp
This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and my expectations were definitely exceeded! First of all, the mansion itself is spectacular. If you love old architecture and antiques, this is the place for you. The innkeeper, Raegan was very welcoming and accommodating; she also made us a delicious breakfast! Our bed was super comfortable as was the overall temperature of the room. We enjoyed exploring the different rooms and their decor, as well as sitting by the gas fireplace. Overall, the ambiance and charm of the Ellerbeck is well-worth the price! I would definitely recommend it and we look forward to staying again. Thank you!

Keith H.

Yelp
Really super nice. I was in town on business and all the majors had hotel rooms north of $400 a night and I didn't want to spend that type of money on a Marriott or Hyatt like property. I came across a room available at the Ellerbeck Mansion and feel quite fortunate to find such a cool place to stay. The proprietors, a couple around my age, were super nice. I had some complications with my stay arriving a day late and they held my room and were very understanding. The room was beautiful. The breakfast was excellent. And the B&B was well kept clean and very nice property. I will stay there again in the future next time I am in SLC on business. It would also be a nice getaway with my wife possibly for next snowboard season.

Marybeth W.

Yelp
It was a dark and stormy night and the 14 of us had no where to stay.....so we decided to find a great mansion to hang out at for the week! And we had a marvelous stay!! Sharon greeted each one of us with warmth and a friendly smile - we immediately felt at home. She made sure everything was just right. If we needed anything - we only had to ask. And we kept her busy at times. Daniel went above and beyond for us. He even brought us his personal ninja blender so we could make ourselves healthy green smoothies in the morning! Great location. Walking distance to nice restaurants and many things 'Salt Lake.' We LOVED our stay and won't hesitate to repeat our visit.

Ed J.

Yelp
Original review:. Lovely mansion tucked away in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Friendly staff and vintage feel makes for an amazing B&B experience. Highly recommended! Update:. Had a chance to go back for a friend's wedding at the mansion. The carriage house in the back was really nice. It had a bar and everything! The staff was very helpful and everyone at the wedding seemed to have a good time. Would also recommend throwing your wedding reception there.

Jim G.

Yelp
My wife and I spent one night at Ellerbeck on a road trip from the SF Bay area to Ft. Collins, CO. It's in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of temple square, the city center, and near many restaurants. We chose the Red Rock brewery for a late dinner, a pleasant though somewhat long walk from the mansion. We had a bathroom with shower in our room. This was a well executed retrofit to the 100+ year old house. The bed was comfortable and it was fairly quiet and cool at night, despite being a hot August day with the AC running. The real treat was breakfast of french toast, eggs, and fruit prepared by Cathy, who was super nice, and suggested we eat at a bistro table on a patio in the garden. That was a fantastic way to start the day, watching the neighborhood wake up while we woke up ourselves. Finally, during our trip my cell phone stopped working and our credit card had a fraud alert and needed to be replaced. I made arrangements to ship a new phone and credit card to Ellerbeck in advance of our arrival, and they handled that just fine. No issue with security by the way, despite an earlier review. There was a deadbolt on the room door and another on the outside door. In summary, this was a far more pleasant way to spend a night than grabbing an anonymous room in one of the many large hotels in SLC. We were very comfortable, and thanks to Cathy for getting our morning off to a great start.

Matteo K.

Yelp
Ellerbeck has a beautiful balance of an upscale mansion and a comfortable home. Daniel bent over backwards to make our wedding memorable in every way. The addition of the carriage house accommodated our wedding guests perfectly. Everyone kept mentioning how they wish they'd have known of Ellerbeck before our day too. It definitely left an impression on our guests. We can't thank you enough for opening Ellerbeck to our special day!

Kate M.

Yelp
This is by far one of the most beautiful B&B's my family and I have ever stayed in. Extremely clean and welcoming. It's within walking distance to the city. Not too far from Park City if you love to ski. We were fortunate enough to have stayed there. I would highly recommend this B&B.

Katie L.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at Ellerbeck thanks to the hospitality of Scott and Tara. We ended up with the entire house to ourselves and were able too peek around every room. Such a gorgeous home full of history in a unique and beautiful neighborhood. Our room was comfortable and I loved the style (pocket doors!). We were prepared a delicious breakfast in the morning, and had a good chat with Scott. Would recommend Ellerbeck to anyone visiting SLC.

Glenn S.

Yelp
Scott and Tara, the current managers, were wonderful! Very helpful as we'd never stayed in Salt Lake before. We stayed 3 nights and had 3 delicious breakfasts. The B&B is located near downtown and we chose to walk to dinner and shopping. Scott and Tara made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They were available when needed, courteous and professional. Customer oriented without being intrusive. We've stayed at many B&Bs over the years and this one is one of the best.

Allison M.

Yelp
This is an awesome place to stay when you're in Salt Lake! Beautiful house conveniently located to a lot of things in town, and not far from skiing either. The inn keepers are wonderful and the breakfast was amazing. I would definitely recommend if you want a more personal experience!

Eric L.

Yelp
Great B&B, took my wife here on a surprise weekend getaway. The breakfast was awesome, Scott and Tara (the innkeepers) did a great job setting up the room with some chocolates to make it extra special for us. We stayed in the Autumn Winds room, which had a super comfortable bed. The shower was a little on the small side, but other than that we loved it.

Megan M.

Yelp
I loved my experience at the Ellerbeck Mansion! The inn keepers are wonderful people who really care about their guests. The rooms are cosy and have so much history. I would love to stay again in the future! Great experience

Michael D.

Yelp
I've stayed here twice now and I still feel that this is the best bed & breakfast that I've ever been to. The Mansion itself is like a museum and the food is 5 stars. Great staff.

April H.

Yelp
Wonderful bed and breakfast with excellent hot breakfast made by a really friendly Innkeeper. I got the Italian frittata on the first day and the stuffed French toast on the second day and both were incredible. The whole home is really cozy and very private. We were surprised to see that all 7 rooms had their OWN BATHROOM. Definitely a great B&B!
