The food was delicious-chicken and waffles top notch! It came with a honey butter and special bourbon syrup that added a different flavor that was perfect. The service was phenomenal. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable of our questions. The atmosphere was beautiful and quaint.

Google
Ellie’s in Yellow Springs was amazing! Our server, Jennifer, was incredibly accommodating, and the food was absolutely divine—every bite was a treat. Highly recommend for a memorable dining experience. Food: breakfast skillet, chicken and waffle with normal maple syrup, and shrimp and grits. Get the shrimp and grits! Drink: Berry French 75 ❤️

Google
Very nice restaurant at Mills Park Hotel (hotel appeared to be very nice also). Staff was very nice. Bottles of water brought to table as a courtesy without asking. I always like that, it reminds me of a courtesy you use to receive at all restaurants years ago. My wife has celiac disease and waitress made sure kitchen knew it. Chef came out and made sure her food restrictions were met. Food was excellent with nice portions. There were 4 of us and no complaints only praise. Food was priced at a fair price. We sat out on their porch and enjoyed the beautiful day. The don't take reservations but if you call ahead about 30 minutes before you get there they will put you on the waiting list. That is why I listed no wait. We were seated when we arrived. If you just show up I would expect waiting for a little bit.

Stopped in for brunch, I enjoyed the skillet, the biscuits were delicious. Well portioned, not overfilling. He enjoyed the farmer's breakfast, everything was great. Our server was awesome!

Google
This is the best little restaurant ever. The Mills Park Hotel in which the restaurant is located is the cutest little place with a corgi theme. The restaurant is so quaint and cozy. The staff is amazing! The food is so good. I love to go here. It’s definitely a must go if you’re in the area. I guarantee you will love it.

Google
Our garden club had lunch here after a Tuesday morning tour of Hartman Rock Garden ( which is a very interesting place to visit). I called about 1 hour before we planned to arrive and a table was ready for our group of 10 ( they don’t take reservations). The atmosphere was cozy, the service was great and the food was delicious. I had the Southern skillet which was perfect for my craving for breakfast and lunch. The biscuit was huge and covered with a fried egg. The potatoes had the right amount of onion and peppers and the breaded chicken breast covered lightly with a tasty creole sauce was delicious. I had enough potatoes left over to take home for breakfast the next day. The other people in the group enjoyed their meals and we all want to come back again

Google
This restaurant goes above and beyond in providing a great meal and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. This isn’t your basic hotel restaurant, the backup location when you can’t find anywhere else to eat. Instead, the food is delicious, beautifully plated, and comes in generous portions. Highly recommend enjoying a quiet breakfast on their patio or a dinner paired with a glass of wine from their large selection.

Google
An amazing restaurant. Everything the service and the quality of the food was excellent. The dessert (cranberry orange muffin) was so good that I got an extra one to go. I am now recommending this restaurant to everyone. Thank you, Jason

Yelp
Split a Cobb salad and shrimp and grits with a friend on the patio dining. Amazing, delicious, and worth the experience!

Yelp
Took my girlfriend to lunch and she was absolutely amazed. She had not been there before and definitely wants to return. After a look at the menu, she was tempted by the shrimp and grits and after hesitating, decided to order. I chose the grilled ham and cheese. After cleaning her dish, she proclaimed it was one of the best meals EVER. My sandwich was also great as usual. Service was top notch and the airy feeling of the room added to an excellent experience. She is looking forward to going back soon and so am I

Yelp
Was so excited to try this place as it was parked in a very sweet hotel that reminded me of a hotel in the mountains like the Stanley Hotel. We tried this place twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner in different days. For breakfast I had their Benedict. While the English muffin was toasted and the hollandaise sauce was good, there was only a small piece of ham on each. It didn't cover the English muffins. The dish is $16, much more expensive than most Benedict's. Not providing enough protein is a big problem. Will say the potatoes it comes with were good. But the star of the dish is supposed to be the Benedict. Also the poached eggs were overcooked so no runny yolk to enjoy the meal with. For the dinner we started with the pub fries which come with pulled pork and beer cheese. While the dish was passable, what hurt this dish was a beer cheese sauce that looked and tasted more like a broth. The cheese was so watered down it didn't stick to the fries and didn't give it any flavor. The pulled pork was also lacking seasoning and was so freaking dry!!!! Me and my partner were very disappointed which only made us worry for main courses . I got their Marry Me chicken dish, which the server said was a staple of the restaurant. It came with rice and vegetables but I got the collard greens instead of the normal vegetable side. The chicken was the most bland food experience of recent memory. It was completely devoid of any seasoning. The sauce was just a watery cream sauce. No taste of cheese or sundried tomatoes or anything which is the flavor profile of any good Marry Me Chicken dish. It was such a letdown! Marry Me chicken is one of my favorite dishes and this would be a dead last if I ever did a ranking. I will say that the server was very kind, very attentive, and personable. The look of the restaurant was very homely and comfortable. The collard greens were quite delicious and you could tell there was time spent to get them right. Add a bit of hot sauce and you could eat those daily. I will also say that the Mac n' cheese was some of the best I have ever had. That is the problem though, because what impressed me the most were the sides. The star of the dish should be the Benedict and the chicken and both were not just subpar, but downright unacceptable. Nothing was returned to the kitchen as we were too hungry to wait for replacement dishes and the server was tipped 20% for his dedication and engaging personality. He definitely earned that tip. But, we may not return here anytime soon unless some big changes are done in the kitchen. We don't want to dislike this place as it has a lot going for it. I want this review to be taken as more of a constructive criticism rather than seen as a complaint.

Yelp
Convenient place inside the hotel to get food. It's a bit pricier than other breakfast options in the area of course, but the service was super friendly. The pancakes I got were okay, but I liked the biscuit / fried chicken + gravy entree a lot better. Chicken was very crispy and well-fried, and the biscuit was average but a nice touch. Maybe they were still in training, but the latte was really not on par and tasted like filtered coffee with some milk foam on it. Our serve was really nice though.

Yelp
We ate here a lot since we were staying in the hotel.. often the restaurant was full and we had to get what we wanted as takeout, which sort of worked out fine because the hotel itself is so cute and we just ate upstairs in the common area. The food unfortunately was hit or miss, we liked a few of the things we got but not everything. I was expecting the breakfast to be delicious but it was mostly meh both times we ate there? Overall we liked the space, the staff were friendly, and the desserts were good, so I would probably go back but just be aware not all the dishes are great.

Yelp
I was at Ellie's on Sat Aug 23 for lunch. It was terrible! After waiting an hour to get our food, for two people, my club sandwich was missing the bacon. When I pointed it out to the waitress, she took my plate back to the kitchen. I said to forget it, I didn't want it anymore, it took an hour to get that! They brought it back, with bacon, and said the meal was comped. But...the bacon was raw! The sandwich was awful, with or with the raw bacon. Bad service. Bad food. So what it ended up being free, that place wasted 1 1/2 hours of my day and I walked out hungry and mad. It wasn't just me. Another table got up and walked out because of the long wait. Never again!

Yelp
Arrived to meet a friend for dinner, and the host pointed me right to them. The environment is stunning with a turn of the century elegance in seating and decor. Everything was spotless. The service was exceptional. My Old Fashioned was very relaxing & enjoyable. My guest had the prime rib, and I had the smothered pork chops. We commented that the mash potatoes were very good, and the meats were also done well. The steamed vegetables were a bit overdone and under seasoned, but still ok. Definitely would return happily. Only minor issue was the noise level was sometimes loud from other diners. Overall: Welcomed & Definitely Recommended (B+)

Yelp
PHOTOS BELOW!! I visited YellowSprings, Ohio in October 2021 with some college friends. We stopped by Ellie's Restaurant in Mills Park Hotel for lunch. Service was friendly for a very busy day. We managed to get a seat outside in their lovely patio. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles ($15) and a side of fries or maybe the dish already came with fries. The whole meal was okay. The waffles tasted as if they were bought frozen and reheated. The chicken wasn't as crispy or tasty to my liking. I don't even think I finished my lunch. Perhaps other menu items would have been better. One of my friend's bought a bourbon pie but I didn't try it. Overall, I won't be back since I don't live in the area but if you are in the area then there is no harm in visiting them and trying something on their menu. **** GOAL of 150 reviews in 2024 - 68/150 total reviews in 2024 - 718 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 14 July 2024

Yelp
If everyone's food was as good as ours was on a Friday morning, I don't see how anyone could give less than 4 stars (I'm giving five...). Amazing, artisan gravy with the biscuits 'n gravy. Over medium eggs cooked well, and the cheesy grits were some of the best I've had. Pleasantly surprised since I was hesitant to visit because of some of the reviews. Thankfully this place is close enough that we can visit frequently. Hostess/ (manager? ) was super friendly as well.

Yelp
Ellie's is located in Mills Park Hotel. The dining area is bright and open. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and was able to trade out the chips for potatoes for a small up-charge. The potatoes were good! The chicken sandwich needed something. The sauce on it was bland. I think it'd be great if it had the option of adding onions, pickles, etc. Service was good and attentive! There is a different menu for lunch and dinner.

Yelp
Nice sunny Sunday, and we sat out on the porch. We got pancakes to share, a Chicken salad on croissant and a ham eggs Benedict. My chicken salad was very good, enough crunch and grapes to satisfy. The dressing was light, not soggy, not greasy. Pancakes were large and satiating. Cheese grits were not the grocery type, they were much more flavorful. I would warn people that on midday Sunday, if you sit outside there will an endless stream of loud cars and bikers. We waited about a half hour to be seated, which was expected on a Sunday in springtime. Overall very nice time, with good service.

Yelp
We have eaten 2 meals here. Dinner & breakfast. Both meals were delicious. My husband & I split the chicken & waffles. We both thoroughly enjoyed. I had the lemon blueberry French toast for breakfast. Great combination. Servers are very attentive and prices are very reasonable for the level of food and service you receive. Atmosphere is great, think more like a plantation with a large porch. Weather was not conducive for us but I can easily see sitting out there enjoying a meal or beverage . Worth the stop if you are in Yellow Springs. No reservations.

Yelp
I visited Ellie's on a Sunday morning for brunch. It is in an old, big white building which also houses a hotel. The ambiance was quaint and comfortable. We sat on the outside porch and I ordered the southern skillet which had red skin potatoes mixed with onions and bell peppers and a fried chicken breast with an egg on top and gravy. It also came with a biscuit and honey dew. The meal was superb! It was obvious everything was homemade. Our server was friendly and efficient. We didn't have a wait either which is unheard of for a Sunday morning brunch. Ellie's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a full beer and cocktail assortment. I highly recommend the brunch and I will definitely be back to try their dinner menu!

Yelp
DO NOT SIT ON THE PORCH!! Other than that this is a decent place. Service was fantastic! I had pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Pancakes were a little chewy and bland, bacon nice and crisp, eggs made perfectly. Others in my party enjoyed their food - liked it, but no raving. Just saying that the hotel is on a state route that carries all traffic north and south in that area, so unless you are found of huge trucks and motorcycles accelerating after a red light, downshifting to stop, or the basic sound of constant traffic that you have to really talk loudly over to be heard, then sit inside. Part of our party have hearing issues and they had to take out their hearing aids because the traffic noise. was overwhelming. So decent food, great service, but sit inside unless loud suits you.

Yelp
Recently had the pleasure of visiting yellow Springs Ohio. We were hungry and popped into Ellie's restaurant. It has a welcoming estate entrance bed-and-breakfast with stunning entryway. Our waiter was extremely friendly and informative. The coconut cake was amazing! Beautifully decorated and clean. Nice gift shop with quaint items. If you're a Corgi fan, this IS the place! Can't wait to return.

Yelp
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Ellie's on Saturday, December 30. Ellie's is in a beautiful old hotel located in Yellow Springs. It was difficult to decide what to order off the menu. I chose the Shrimp and Grips. (No, that is not a typo on my part but I learned that several proofreaders missed the misspelling when the menus were printed. I think the owner should embrace the mistake and continue to the only restaurant to serve Grips.) For the record the shrimp and grits were very good. The staff members were all very sweet and took great care of us. I do want to return so I can enjoy food from their dinner menu.

Yelp
So good! Got the chicken and waffle and it was delicious. The hotel is so pretty, and with the snow was just the cherry on top. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, and food came out fast. I had never been to the Mills Park Hotel before and would love to stay here. Definitely a great breakfast spot.

Yelp
The Key Line Pie dessert was fantastic! Breakfast is my favorite thing there, staff is always friendly although cashier area needs better attention

Yelp
We had this restaurant on our list to try for quite awhile and Saturday afternoon was the time. The restaurant is inside a hotel. The lobby is very nice. There was live music on this particular afternoon. The menu for lunch did not have a lot of choices. My husband ordered the burger and I chose the grilled cheese with ham. Both were delicious. We were a little disappointed with the side of chips. I would have referred a choice of sides. Our server was attentive. I think we will go back to try breakfast.

Yelp
The ambiance was great, one of the ladies sang at times and that was lovely. That's where the 2 stars come from. Our server was rude, entitled and unpleasant for no reason and the food was mediocre at best - really plain and tasteless. I will not go back

Yelp
The place got busy during Sunday brunch. The weight time was roughly 45 minutes at one point. They don't take reservations but will put your name on the waitlist over phone. The service was good, a tad bit slow but our server Chris was very enthusiastic and had a great attitude. Coming to the food: 1. Chicken and waffles (4.5/5) tender chicken and good waffle. The honey butter complemented the dish. I highly recommend the Herb roasted sweet potatoes. 2. Julio's Omelette was great as well. The guacamole and salsa on the omelette along with the cheese elevated the dish. Cappuccino was also good. There is parking at the back of the restaurant.

Yelp
A good place for breakfast. Ellie's is in a nice hotel but it's casual. It has the typical favorites. Basic stuff here like the pancakes. They have vegan ones too. Came for breakfast. It was also time for lunch. They had both menus going so you can choose whatever. Gets busy. Hard sometimes getting a table. A lot of times though you can get seated right away. The last time here was like this. I had the vegan pancakes. It's $12 for a few pancakes. There's a charge for each added item like blueberries and such. At lunch there's more choices. They have things like vegan burgers and similar healthier items. It surely is worth checking out the hotel. Kind of interesting. Try looking around when you're not eating and checking this cool hotel out.

Yelp
Just ate dinner at Ellie's. By far the best Salmon and asparagus I have ever had in a restaurant. Wait staff is superb and the coconut cake topped off a perfect dinner.
google avatar

Haley G.

Yelp
I had a good lunch here. Their garden omelette was tasty! I would come back here to try other things!

Mari R.

Yelp
The food was great. The drinks were great. The atmosphere was great, but the host could've been paying a little bit more attention. first, he was talking with someone and then he was fixing his hair. Definitely felt like we weren't on his list of priorities. The rest of the experience was great.

Yelp
I absolutely adore this place. Not only is it a hotel, but it's a fantastic restaurant open to the public as well. Perfect for a brunch before going to walk through Yellow Springs. Their chicken salad sandwich is mouthwatering. Highly recommend!!

John A.

Yelp
Food was OK, but service was slow. Breakfast menu looked good, but just sandwiches for lunch.

Janet R.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY GREAT from the greeting at the host stand to the OUTSTANDING service and the food was FANTASTIC!! Unique and flavorful appetizers with the deviled eggs and garlic steak bites. Delicious and generous portioned chicken, salmon and shrimp entrees. (Cobb salad was perfect!) And you don't want to leave without savoring a homemade/locally made dessert! The raspberry vanilla cheesecake melts in your mouth! All while sitting in a quaint setting with a big family feel! We. Will. Be. Back! Thank you SO much for an awesome outing in Yellow Springs!
google avatar

Patricia G.

Yelp
Linked with the hotel, this was our brunch stop before leaving town. What a great choice. The staff was fun and friendly. The coffee was perfect. The breakfast options were standard with a unique personal touch. Bacon that wasn't fried to a crisp!!! I had the Mexican omelette; plenty of flavor without too much heat. It was a beautiful day to walk around town and enjoy the local artisan shops. Can't wait to come back and visit!

Yelp
My wife and I were in Yellow Springs to check out a couple of bookstores, and had lunch at Ellie's. The restaurant is part of a quaint local hotel on the main street through town, and it's a nice spot. Both pretty and accessible. We ate on their large front porch area, and it was very comfortable and clean. The food was also pretty good. My wife had a burger, which she enjoyed. I went with one of their interesting breakfast selections - the sweet potato bowl. It was interesting and yummy, with fresh ingredients and a not unnecessarily large portion size. I would definitely order it again, and we will use Ellie's as our default spot the next time we're in Yellow Springs. A solid 4-stars.

Yelp
After our long hike at Glenn Helen Preserve. We found this hidden gem. Our server Miles D was amazing, he made sure we weren't waiting long. He made Us feel welcome and at home. The food was beyond delicious and so much more. So glad we found this amazing place. I highly recommend this place to anyone who's in this area. This is a place that you must visit for breakfast/lunch.
google avatar

Taylor P.

Yelp
What a wonderful breakfast spot. Our server Chris m was beyond delightful and the food was really yummy. The chicken and waffles is impossible to beat at $7. There is a full coffee bar with breakfast cocktails as well as a bakery. For a healthy option, the sweet potato bowl is good.
google avatar

Aubrie H.

Yelp
We've eaten Ellie's on each of our visits to Yellow Springs. We've visited during lunch and dinner since the menu is a little different. Our favorite dish so far is the shrimp and grits offered at lunch, absolutely delicious. We also highly recommend stopping in to grab something from the Bakery case for dessert. The coconut cake is the best!! Look forward to visiting again in the future and trying more menu items.
google avatar

Matthew M.

Yelp
We unfortunately couldn't get past the host, who was condescending and rude. We were so offended we had no desire to go any further with this restaurant. It may be a nice place to eat, if you can put up with the awful way you are likely to be treated.

Ann P.

Yelp
My sisters and I stopped into Ellie's for brunch yesterday. Our service was awesome and so was our food! I ordered two eggs with sweet potatoes and toast. The sweet potato's were so flavorful and tasty! My sisters ordered a salad and garden omelette and both were great! We will return for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
Sunday brunch at Ellie's was absolutely magical. This was my first time in Yellow Springs at Ellie's was the perfect way to start off the day. From entrance to exit the staff was extremely nice - they greeted us, answered any questions we had, served us very quickly, and were just all around super cool peeps! It was a perfect August morning so I was really happy that they had patio seating. Everything on the menu looked delicious so it took me a while to decide between about 4-5 dishes. What I did know though is that I wanted a mimosa. They served them with a raspberry dropped in which was the perfect touch. Eventually I decided on chicken and waffles and WOW was I glad that I did! I could not stop eating them. The chicken was so juicy and cooked to perfection and was paired with the perfect amount of waffles. I am also not a huge syrup person so was very happy that there wasn't too much syrup to overpower the flavor of the two main ingredients. The dish was also served with delicious breakfast potatoes. I was planning on grabbing a pastry on my way out but was way too stuffed to choose one. I had an overall awesome experience at Ellie's and I can't wait to take more people there!
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
super good food!!! and large portions!!! the bacon and eggs were very very yummy! there was only one waitress, shauna, who was great despite having to take care of like 7 tables, obvi not her fault. super cute, love the vibe, and the mascot is cute!

Emma W.

Yelp
Let's just say the coffee we ordered was disgusting. We sent it back immediately but we were still charged for our "barista drinks" . My stale croissant was freshened up in the oven to a hard crisp. The blueberry lemon French toast was rubbery and the sweet potato bowl was fairly skimpy on the avocado. We keep trying to support this local business but vow each time never to return. Get it together Ellie's, we want you to succeed!

Anjan C.

Yelp
We stayed at Mills Park hotel in Yellow Spring (a beautiful must visit town in Ohio) and Ellie's is a restaurant of the hotel. The place is historic and well maintained. We had Sunday brunch on a rainy and cold morning. It took us 40 minutes to get to our table so we hanged out in a shop and analyzed some paintings in the hallway. Our server was polite, enchanting and well spoken- probably a student in the city. From what we ordered I highly recommend waffle with fried chicken. They poured syrup on waffle but I would have asked them to put it in a side. I came to know later that Yellow Springs is a hometown of Dave Chappelle, which made me love Yellow Springs even more.

Colleen B.

Yelp
Great service and we loved the food. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Chicken and waffles were amazing. So was the sausage gravy and biscuits, which is so rare to find homemade nowadays. We will be coming back.
google avatar

Julie G.

Yelp
Have been looking for a breakfast spot since Winds is no longer open on Sunday. Ellie's did not disappoint. Located in the Mills Park Hotel. Gorgeous stately hotel with outside porch seating. Got a table straight away, it was just before 11am. Wonderful waiter, attentive and happy to be there. Food was good. Had the garden omelette with home fries. Yummy. Great service. Good prices. Parking right outside on the street. Also open for lunch. Great place to refuel after a hike.
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
Nice little hidden gem in Yellow Springs. The food and staff were both excellent! We had chicken and waffles, and the farmers platter with a side of grits for breakfast both meals were delicious. I can't wait to go back and try the shrimp and grits! We will also be trying them for dinner!
google avatar

Janice K.

Yelp
Rocking on the front porch with a mimosa in hand, you feel like you could be in Savanna. This is a great place to brunch the mimosas are delicious, and the food is good. The best part is the atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a special experience.
google avatar

Don K.

Yelp
Outstanding food, fast and friendly service (especially Chris) , and a wonderful atmosphere that feels very open.

Mia B.

Yelp
My food was hard with zero flavor the waffles were rubbery and so were the eggs the maple syrup was really good though
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
Aaron was the most amazing bartender and waiter ever. His suggestions for margarita and mimosas ( strawberry marg, mixed berry marg, and pineapple mimosa) were some of the best drinks I've ever had. The chicken salad sandwich with potato chips was delicious. A great experience start to finish. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Jessie A.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. Usually come here for breakfast, a real coffee bar, and the porch is lovely.

Jeremy T.

Yelp
This place has fallen OFF!! Absolutely terrible! Served left over food from the day before, coffee was awful. Don't waste your time

Yelp
My mother, sister and I came here to celebrate before my wedding coming up. We made it there during happy hour and got a couple $5 drinks. I had the Carmel apple mule and it was fantastic. They open at 5 for dinner and we sat on the porch. Its beautiful, but can be quite loud with all the trucks ect. My sister and I order the $30 filet I ordered it with sweet potatoes and cornbread. We both agreed that our filets were tough and bad cuts of meat. I ordered mine medium/well and I'd say most of it was cooked correctly. She ordered hers medium and I'd say it was more med/rare. Our sides were good, cornbread was ok. My mom ordered the chicken and waffles and it was amazing and saved my review. Large amount of perfectly fried chicken. I have also had breakfast here a couple years ago and it was fantastic. For those reasons I gave it a 4 and would probably come back for the chicken and waffles. Service was also great:)
