A Guide to Stargazing in Minnesota's Voyageurs National Park
"Self-taught artist Jack Ellsworth built his spectacular garden on a rocky outcrop with 62 terraced flower beds and 200 abstract rock sculptures. In spring, more than 13,000 lilies bloom."
A hidden gem in Voyageurs NP! Access by boat only and take about an hour on the water if you started from Ash River Visitor Center. Remind us of the Japanese botanical gardens with the unique looking rock sculptures.
It’s an outdoor museum. Each rock tells a different story so be sure you grab a trail map info before exploring so you know what’s special about each sculpture.

Great stop along the lake to view the gardens that were once part of a private home and are now part of the national park. Room for three to four boats to dock. One picnic table on the grounds, and a pretty nice pit toilet.

A must see if you're in the International Falls area. A quirky site that was Mr. Ellsworth's passion project and is dozens of conception stone sculptures. You can take the tour boat from the visitor's center or canoe over yourself.

This place was beautiful and a fun adventure to get there on a pontoon boat in not so great weather. The bonus was that we had the place all to ourselves! We loved exploring the grounds and learning the history of the area.

Was absolutely worth the stop in to check it out while on the lake. It had to be absolutely amazing to see in its prime. I personally like seeing it in its current state though, it is amazing how fast nature can bring everything back to its original state. Would be an excellent place to stop and have lunch while out in Kabetogama Lake.

One of the strangest places you’ll ever find yourself. One mans mind brought to life this massive garden and all the rock formations and designs. He spent years on this masterpiece that has lived on decades after his passing. It’s only accessible by water craft! So plan ahead. Also springtime when the flowers are in bloom is best
