I booked a stay at this hotel to celebrate my partner’s birthday, hoping for a romantic and memorable weekend in Besalú. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. We reserved one of the hotel’s top-tier rooms, the Deluxe Suite, specifically because the description and photos on Booking highlighted a hot tub inside the room, as well as access to an exterior Jacuzzi. Two days before our arrival, I contacted the hotel to schedule a time for the Jacuzzi. They replied saying it was out of order and might not be fixed in time. Upon arrival, we were told it was still broken and unavailable for use — a major letdown, as this was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. To make matters worse, our room did not have the hot tub as advertised. When we raised the issue with the receptionist, instead of apologizing, she claimed that some Deluxe Suites include a hot tub and others don’t — and that it was our responsibility to message the hotel in advance to request the version with the hot tub. This was never mentioned during the booking process, and we felt misled. No compensation or refund was offered, which added to our frustration. Additionally, the room was advertised as having a fireplace, but it turned out to be a fake one — just a TV screen simulating flames. The hotel itself is quite old, and while its location is excellent, the overall experience does not justify the price. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share this so others can make a more informed decision. Sadly, what was meant to be a special celebration turned into a disappointing stay.

Great dog frienly hotel in a fantastic location. A well preserved historical building meters away from the medieval town area. Many hiking routes in the area. But the best thing was the super friendly staff! Recommended.

When we arrived they said they wanted us to feel at home - and they really made us feel like that, showing us round, leaving out snacks in the kitchen area to graze on and providing several beautiful spaces to hang out. This gorgeous old house is in a fantastic location right by the bridge, and has an old-world elegance and charm about it. In the evening the restaurant below closes so you can take drinks down to the terrace with one of the best views in town. The cool jacuzzi on the roof again has fantastic views and is a great spot for a relaxing dip when you need to unwind. A really special couple of nights - would highly recommend you ignore the three star rating, knowing if you book this place you will be staying somewhere with real character.

This is a palatial hotel with fabulous facilities and wonderful views of both old town of Besalu and surrounding mountains. The staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Buy a beautiful bath bomb for your bath or bathe in their rooftop jacuzzi overlooking flocks of swallow and the breathtaking mountains. I have travelled for 60 years and never liked a hotel more! I'm coming back with my husband next year. Whether you're a culture or nature lover, you won't find better.

Great location and reasonably priced. The room is big and spacious and has a reasonably sized bathroom too. I booked the cheapest room offered so no view of the bridge from the room but who cares when you can see it once you step out of the hotel entrance,

Both the hotel building and the setting/location are so special! This is truly a historic building right at the end of the Roman Bridge that has been modernized but has kept the original tile floors and ceiling paintings etc etc. Walking around on the different floors and areas is almost like going to a museum but it's all comfortable for sitting and enjoying yourself. We had room 1 which has a balcony with the amazing view of the Bridge and the town and you just don't want to leave at all. The room was really nice in every way. They even give you free bottles of water every day! Breakfast buffet was great with many options and a really nice patio where everyone ate and enjoyed! And parking was free in a lot next to the hotel and across the street from it, so we always got a spot if/when we went off to explore other towns. Staff were all very helpful, offering advice and answering questions. This is definitely the place to stay when visiting Besalu!! We enjoyed 3 nights here!

Amazing location next to the bridge of Besalu. From the outset the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. We got a tour of the hotel and information on the history etc. which was a lovely touch. Spacious and bright room with air conditioning. Great shower. Very comfortable bed. The breakfast was just perfect. Staff always so friendly and accommodating to all of our needs. Couldn't recommend this hotel more. So reasonably priced for what you get :)

We loved everything from the warm welcome on arrival, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful situation and art deco building. It was comfortable and excellent value . The views from the terrace are superb. We loved the invitation to eat our own picnics .. what more could you want
