Els Jardins de la Martana

We loved everything from the warm welcome on arrival, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful situation and art deco building. It was comfortable and excellent value . The views from the terrace are superb. We loved the invitation to eat our own picnics .. what more could you want

Both the hotel building and the setting/location are so special! This is truly a historic building right at the end of the Roman Bridge that has been modernized but has kept the original tile floors and ceiling paintings etc etc. Walking around on the different floors and areas is almost like going to a museum but it's all comfortable for sitting and enjoying yourself. We had room 1 which has a balcony with the amazing view of the Bridge and the town and you just don't want to leave at all. The room was really nice in every way. They even give you free bottles of water every day! Breakfast buffet was great with many options and a really nice patio where everyone ate and enjoyed! And parking was free in a lot next to the hotel and across the street from it, so we always got a spot if/when we went off to explore other towns. Staff were all very helpful, offering advice and answering questions. This is definitely the place to stay when visiting Besalu!! We enjoyed 3 nights here!

We had a wonderful stay in Els Jardins de la Martana. The service was really good and the people at the reception were very kind. We celebrated our 2 year anniversary and the staff gave us extra attention. The room was big, clean and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the area at night is really quiet. Be aware that diner options in the town are very limited.

Amazing location next to the bridge of Besalu. From the outset the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. We got a tour of the hotel and information on the history etc. which was a lovely touch. Spacious and bright room with air conditioning. Great shower. Very comfortable bed. The breakfast was just perfect. Staff always so friendly and accommodating to all of our needs. Couldn't recommend this hotel more. So reasonably priced for what you get :)

Located directly at the old fortified bridge leading to the old town. Small hotel with special atmosphere in an old villa. Helpful and friendly host. Very nice and impressive interior, library etc. Nice terrace for breakfast in the morning sun. Rooms to the front can be a bit noisy as the tourist groups are meeting there to cross the bridge. Parking lot nearby. Overall very recommandable

This is an older hotel so there is no elevator and some of the furnishings are dated. However, we loved it. The bathrooms are fully renovated and the view can only be described as spectacular. The location (just a short walk across the historic bridge) is perfect as it means you have access to the city without any of the parking hassles. We found the staff extremely friendly.

I am so happy I found this place to stay at while exploring Besalu! We ended up in room 11, which had a balcony overlooking the amazing castle bridge! It was truly an experience. The room had great air conditioning and the other best part was the delicious spread provided for breakfast, it was very delicious! The employees were very nice. The restaurant below has amazing food and drinks so make sure you eat dinner there-and some nights they have live music with an incredible view. Make sure while staying in Besalu, you take a dip in the lake about 12 min away.

We stayed here only one night but it was a perfect stay for our visit to Besalu, a Catalonian town we very much enjoyed exploring. The hotel is right at the end of the famous bridge, extremely convenient for seeing the town, the riverside, and the bridge itself. The reception desk is up a flight from the entrance (no elevator) and our room was on that level, although there are more rooms up one more flight. Our room (#6) was basic but comfortable and the bathroom was very large. We liked the quirkiness of this place, which is actually a converted mansion with nice adjacent gardens and restaurant. Free parking is very near, about 100 feet from the hotel entrance. The breakfast room was in the reception level, not far from our room, with a nice view of the garden, and the buffet-style food was good. The hotel also has a nice common terrace/balcony with excellent views of the bridge and town. We enjoyed this place and recommend it.
