We had an unrenovated room. The beds were comfortable and clean. The room had basic furnishings and a balcony. We enjoyed the family style evening meal and the breakfast had a variety of options. We also liked sitting in the common areas of the main building in the evening - lots of interesting antiques and interesting furniture. The setting was really beautiful and the proximity to the national park was wonderful.

The room is cozy and uniquely decorated. I enjoyed the three course dinner that is delicious.

Hotel with a very beautiful exterior, a charming building. However, our room lacked the charm of the outside. The furniture was old: the table, bed and chair were in poor condition, and the floor was not particularly clean. The cleaning of the room left much to be desired, with dust in the cupboards and a lack of toilet brushes. We also found dead flies in the room. The soundproofing leaves something to be desired; you can hear everyone walking and talking in the corridors. Similarly, the thermal insulation is inadequate, no double glazing, fortunately the heating makes up for this. The bathroom had an unattractive smell and electrical installations close to the bath without protection, which raises questions from a safety point of view. As elsewhere in Norway, the curtains do not block out the daylight. The number of sockets in the room is very limited. One positive point is the building shared by all the hotel's residents, which is huge. The food is very good for dinner. Honestly, if the hotel made an effort to drastically improve the rooms, the rating would probably be a 5. However, for me, the hotel is judged mainly on the rooms and therefore does not deserve better at the moment. All in all, I would not recommend this accommodation, except for its location, its setting and the collective building, which is spacious and pleasant.

A great location next to a glacier water river and fantastic panoramic views of the mountain valley. The family run hotel from the 1600s has everything you need as a hiker to enjoy a great dinner, cosy fireplace bars and a room next to the river. The buffet breakfast is top class and has bags for packing a sandwich for your hike. The whole hotel exudes history, with ornaments and portraits around every corner.

We had a wonderful 3 nights here! This place felt to us a bit like a Norwegian version of an American national parks lodge. The main building was full of interesting things to see, from artwork to furniture to cozy little nooks to relax in. The breakfast was truly an amazing spread - we were full until dinner everyday! - and the dining room was a beautiful place to begin the day. We booked a basic room and it was immaculately clean, simply furnished and very comfortable. We liked the fact that it had a balcony and a lovely view of the surrounding mountains. We had some questions about hiking logistics and weather and the owner and staff were extremely helpful to us - and always very friendly and welcoming. This is a great place to base if you are visiting Jutenheimen national park.

I was on a tour that uses this hotel. It is in a beautiful location of natural beauty. The common areas are very colorful, rustic, and inviting. If I could have slept in there, it would have been great. I had a single room that was very small which is fine. Unfortunately, the room was beyond battered, neglected, shabby, in dire need of fillers & paint. The bathroom was really bad, the shower was so nasty, I didn't. The bed was really small & uncomfortable, & there were no blackouts on either window ( or any other "amenity") No doubt, the included breakfast, family style dinner, and do-it-yourself picnic lunch is why the tour company uses this place. Cost affective. If I were planning a trip to this area, I would not stay at this hotel, although I might stop & have a drink in the common area & walk around.

A quaint and delightful place to stay and enjoy the awesome beauty of Norway. We love the uniqueness of the buildings and its tranquil setting. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I think in general Norwegians are friendly and and go out of their way to be helpful.

I spent one night here, though wish I could have spent more. It's located in a very scenic mountainous valley near Lom, with a whitewater river raging next to it. If you've been to the US Natl Parks, it looks like one of the lodges. It's pretty rustic and very, very charming. Chock full of historical items and knick knacks. You can tell they've added buildings and wings over the years, so the layout is very chaotic. Booking and checkin were smooth. The room itself was very basic and small ... definitely not luxurious but given the lowish price I was fine with that. I opted for the dinner, which was "good". The dining room is large and has nice views of the mountains and river. Breakfast was good, all you can eat buffet. Wifi was ok. The drive there was very scenic.

Yelp
Out in the middle of the forest is this rustic lodge that is rich in Norwegian history and filled with beautiful artwork that is worthy of being in a museum in Oslo. The rooms are very basic- no tv, no hair dryer, only the basics like a twin bed and small bathroom. But you are housed in a building dating back to the 1600's and given they are protected buildings, updating them is not possible but they are quite functional and clean. The rooms have heat but given this place is only open May through September you may not need it. Meals are taken in the main building which is a feast for the eyes! Much of the artwork was gotten at auction after the war so the beautiful artwork is museum quality and worth a walk through. They light the many fireplaces on cool nights so grab your computer and sit on one of the comfy couches or just talk to the other travelers who come from all over the world. Internet is only available in the main building or outside on the lawn. Dinner was a home cooked affair and on the night we were there it was a three course dinner consisting of minestrone soup, elk stew, and crime brûlée . Breakfast was a buffet with eggs and sausage, pancakes, fruit, meats, cheeses and breads. And for an additional charge, you can pack yourself a lunch to take with you for the day from the large selection of meats, cheeses and breads. The staff is super friendly, the small bar manned by the owner who is happy to tell you the history of his family's business, and the vistas out the windows are spectacular! Go knowing this is a "rustic place" and not a fancy resort and you will not be disappointed.
