Elwood Hotel & Suites

I can honestly say, having stayed at hotels around the country, that this is one of the best. My wife and I stayed for our 18th Anniversary and were so impressed that wd will be returning. The staff are amazing, the food is top tier and the rooms are spacious and cozy. The proximity to many shops, activities and districts makes it ideal. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Fiddletree! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, stylish, and inviting. The space has such a relaxing vibe — perfect for a date night, a work trip dinner, or even just unwinding after a long day. The service was exceptional. Maddie & Grayson were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure guests were taken care of. It’s rare to find service that feels effortless and personable at the same time, but they nailed it! The food was delicious (wish I had snapped a pic, but I DOVE IN)! Every dish was fresh, beautifully plated, and full of flavor. If you’re in Lexington, do yourself a favor and stop here. Highly recommend — I’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed at the Elwood for two nights while visiting Lexington. The Elwood is perfectly located for a jumping off point for sightseeing. The lobby/restaurant/bar area has a great vibe and our room was large, quiet, and decorated well. The room itself and bathroom were very clean. The bed was comfortable too! The value is great. I highly recommend the Elwood and would return.

The outside is beautiful. The bar and entry area are cute and inviting. The rooms are straight out of a SRO skid row hotel with a random collection of furniture pushed against the walls. There was very little lighting besides the non insulated windows that let in all the outside noise. The walls lacked the ability to block out noise,too, as we heard the workers use a drill 3 doors down. The worst bathroom I've been in since my younger years at no-tell-motels. (Even then I left satisfied.) All the staff were pleasant. The location was good, but I'll choose the hotel next door in the future. A key learning point should be, just because you call the elevator, the lift, it doesn't class up the joint. @Hyatt do better! PS the mattress was the worst yet.

While traveling with my mom and daughter, I was concerned that this room would not offered the space we needed. However, I was wrong! The corner suite is one of the most spacious rooms I have ever stayed in. Additionally, being a bit germaphobic, I am always concerned about cleanliness, but I must say that Elwood Hotel exceeded my expectations. We had a pleasant stay. The only concern was the limited parking due to the busy UK homecoming weekend.

My experience with the Elmwood Hotel in Lexington was disappointing from start to finish. The online reservation process was confusing and felt almost deceptive. When I called the number listed on the website. - the representative answered, "Thank you for calling The Elmwood Hotel." Unbeknownst to me I had been discreetly rerouted to a third-party booking agent (Hotel Trader) and ended up making a non-refundable reservation. Three weeks before my arrival, I tried to cancel but was told by Hotel Trader that I needed to speak directly with the hotel. I called several times, left multiple voicemails, and spoke with staff members (including Grace and an evening manager), but no one ever returned my calls or provided contact information for a manager or owner. When I checked in on October 31st, I again asked to speak with a manager and was told I already was. I explained that I had been trying to cancel for weeks, but was simply told there was nothing they could do and that cancellations had to be made within 48 hours. I was told a general manager named “Karen” would follow up, but I never heard from anyone. The room itself was just okay—very barebones for the price (around $600 for two nights). The shower had barely any water pressure, and there wasn’t even a chair to sit in—just the bed. For what was supposed to be a boutique experience, it fell far short. I’m leaving two stars only because the property was clean and the front desk staff were polite in person, but overall the lack of accountability, service recovery, and responsiveness was unacceptable. I won’t be staying here again.

Checked into this boutique hotel. No pool. And you check in at a desk between the restaurant and the bar. So that's odd - but you do pass a secure door back to the hotel area.||Room was super cool with an old fashion fridge and everything. Great hotel in downtown Lexington. The room was spacious, clean, and well maintained. The beds were very comfortable, making for a relaxing stay. Overall, a great experience, and I would definitely stay here again.

Giving the Elwood Hotel and Suites 4 stars. You may be wondering, why? Check-in was easy, I showed my ID, did my incidental deposit, and on a went. I've stayed at a few boutique/privately owned hotels before, and I will say, I've always been concerned about lack of security. I liked the fact that you needed a key card to get to the actual hotel portion of this hotel, which made me feel better about my safety, but will say I didn't see anyone at the desk when I left early in the morning (around 6am) on my departure date. My room was super spacious. I had a corner room that had two separate rooms, one included a sofa and sitting room with a TV, bathroom, and wetbar, which included a microwave and refrigerator, which was a nice touch. I also had a separate bedroom with a large king bed. Why the four stars? Temperature wise, it didn't seem like the thermostat worked well. When I adjusted it, it would go back to the original temp, so it made the room either too cold or too warm at times. The second thing that I docked a star for was I was on the third floor and when I arrived on the third floor, I got a whiff of cigarettes. I never saw anyone on this floor, so I don't know if it was actually someone, or it was embedded in the carpet. The good thing is the smell was NOT in the room, so that was a positive. I wish the bed had been a tad more comfortable, but if you like a firm mattress, they have the bed for you. Beware, this hotel is near a local hospital, so you may need to bring a sound machine to drown out the siren noises.

Recent storms left us with a power outage for several days..Elwood Suites ..a home away from our home. Our Suite was perfect for two adults.2children&Pet. After a long day at work to retreat here was a relief ..the dinner was exceptional! Live music.exceptional customer service from our server&bartender. Every detail is well thought out.The furniture.artwork.bathroom essentials.. (only complaint would be noise control in the hallways&outside at 11-2am?)

I don't know how this place is called a 4 star hotel. Tried to give this place a second chance and after this last time never again. Staff is rude and management is even worse. Showed up for our reservation after driving 6 plus hours and they wouldn't let us check in. Came back after normal check in time and rooms still not ready! WTH! Canceled reservation and still awaiting someone to get back to Expedia to get us a reservation. Last time we stayed the rooms were dirty and it was noisy. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!

This quaint little hotel is full of style and charm! Stayed one night on business trip and was blown away by their dinner and breakfast menu. The food was amazing not to mention the clean and comfy rooms and bed. Highly recommend

BEST HOTEL EVER. Rooms are very cozy and loved the decor. The food is also all amazing. The host are amazing. Best hot chocolate I've ever had in my life.

I show up to this place as a single female. The 1 person that was working made me wait to check in. I'm ok with that. I had a few text to return while I waited. The ambiance is good, even though the bar is closed at 9pm. I checked in, sat my things at the door and went back to their inviting patio. When I went back to the elevator, a man stood behind me at the elevator, but did not get on with. Weird! Then I realized when I got back to my room that there was nothing about this place that stood to my standards. I was at this hotel for a total of 20 minutes and was not granted a refund. I argued that I should get at least half of a refund because I had not stayed in that room for a second. I told them I was going to Embassy Suites. Nothing has been refunded, and never will. 20 minutes in this subpar situation cost me $158.

It's my last day in Lexington, and I came to the Elwood to see what's behind that beautiful front mural. There's a restaurant in the lobby called Fiddletree Kitchen & Bar. Very elegant, and the bar is gorgeous. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The front patio where you can have your coffee is beautifully decorated with plants and couches. I wasn't able to stay here this trip, but it's definitely on my list for next time.

This place is a cute hotel with great potential. The staff is truly the definition of southern hospitality. The room was spacious and did lack counter space but I was prepared for that as I looked at the website prior to my stay. The location is great and I'm sure the patio would be pleasant on spring and summer evenings. Like other reviews have stated, the cleaning crew does need more training or supervision. I too had a dirty towel on the back of the bathroom door when I checked in. Checking in at table/desk that doubles as a hostess area for the restaurant is odd.

Hotel on first impression was very clean. You're welcomed into the front desk in the restaurant. The manager was very polite and helped us with all our touristy questions. The room is spacious and clean as well. We stayed in a junior suite with the fridge/freezer. We had to turn down the fridge because it was freezing our food lol. The tub was one of those you can sit in with your knees covered for a bath and the shower head had good pressure. The sliding glass doors were the ones that actually stayed shut while showering which was nice. We did utilize the complementary laundry (self service) during our stay. This doesn't require payment and pods and dryer sheets were provided by the front desk. There is plenty of parking if you stay during the week or park early enough on the weekends. Saturday and Sunday a lot of folks go to the restaurant and bar and it packs up but there are other parking lots attached to park in. They keep the rooms very separate from the hotel so you aren't bothered by any of the noise. All staff were very friendly. We had a wonderful time at this hotel!

Warm and inviting customer service and hospitality! The rooms are clean and well-appointed, and the fitness room was consistently clean and cool. We had one minor issue with our room and the receptionist and manager were quick to correct it. Highly recommend a stay at Elwood!

Not lacking in esthetics. VERY cute from outside. Patio area adorable. When you walk in through the front double doors, you walk directly into what looks like a restaurant. And it is. And a bar. But checking into the hotel was like checking in for a dinner reservation . Ok, not the worst. But then you go through another set of older double doors into a hallway to get to an elevator. Ok, into the room we go. Room is "roomy" but awkwardly laid out. A single small fridge all by itself. No counter space, no microwave, nada. Ok fine. Bed is comfy. You cannot plug in any outside streaming items, such as roku, due to no plugs near the tv and because one plugged in item( not sure what it is) says they will charge you $75 if you unplug it??! We left for the day Sunday and returned to find all of the lights on in our room along with 1 new towel propped up against the bathroom sink. Maybe a maid came in but the room was not tended to- bed not made, dirty towels not taken, trash not emptied, etc but just the lights and one towel? Hmmm. Did I mention we when arrived into the restaurant "lobby" all of the lights were off and there was a kid at the same host desk with his feet up? Made us laugh. So SO much potential but not even close to professional well serviced boutique hotels we are used to. Overall weird vibe. One of those places you feel like you're the only hotel guest and it's just creepy.

When driving up, I was impressed. This hotel is not lacking in esthetics. The downstairs is beautiful. That being said, there are a few issues which hopefully are just a result of being new. First, when I arrived, the front was locked and there was no one in the lobby to let me in. After 5 minutes, a guest came up and keyed me in. The rooms are fine and the bed is comfy. The bathroom is a bit off putting. I understand that some hotels may choose to reuse containers such as shampoo/conditioner/hand soap, but these containers weren't wiped clean and where 3/4 of the way empty. Next to them was a dirty sign. Not a good look. The breakfast was good and again, the decor is lovely. My waitress, Morgan, may have been having a bad day, but she was very unfriendly. Didn't smoke once, gave one word answers and seemed very unhappy. I went to my room to get my things and my key didn't work. I had to go back down and have it fixed. This place has potential but definitely has a few things to work out,

The facility is newly remodeled , decor and rooms very large and comfortable bed.. has a bar and dining , food is great , breakfast was awesome service was the best . Martha was a gracious host . Must stay when in Lexington especially if you are going to UK healthcare Chandler hospital only a mile and a quarter away

The hotel is clean and artistic. The bar is lovely. Most important, the people here are wonderful and kind. Pet friendly!!!

This place is amazing. Boutique style hotel. Room was very clean and spacious. Wonderful breakfast area, both indoor and outdoor seating. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating.

Lipstick on a pig honestly. Rooms were not well kept, beds were odd linens and not the most clean. Bathrooms only provided one towel (and one dirty one left on the back of the door). Front staff not awesome.

Beautiful new place. Very unique. Not a corporate chain at all. Great decoration. Nice little bar and patio area.

My husband and I needed a pet friendly place to stay for a week with our dog while we refinished the floors of the house in Lex we had just closed on. First, let me say the room and hotel in general was extremely clean. Lots of forward thinking about what ppl need in a room (not a stupid desk facing the wall but a two top table with chairs in an actual dining area to eat in, easy access to take the dog in and out with a bag station for cleaning up) were already done. HUGE room. When we got there, they had given us a fourth floor room and when I requested a first floor to take the dog out more easily, they immediately did it. All requests were honored. Finally, one night we came in exhausted and covered in sawdust and ordered a filet from the restaurant to fortify ourselves. My husband said he would've gone to hug the chef had he not been so exhausted. This all may sound like hyperbole, but if you're looking for more personal, clean and catered-to environment instead of corporate and swimming pools, we couldn't recommend this place more.
