Elyton Hotel, Autograph Collection

Our stay at the Elyton Hotel was fantastic! The customer service was amazing — Khadijah was incredibly kind, attentive, and so informative, making our visit seamless and enjoyable. The room had a great view; you could hear cars, but honestly, it added to the city experience. The bed was very comfortable. While there were no microwaves in the room or for guest use, the location more than made up for it — literally everything was within walking distance, and taking an Uber to other spots was always under $10. We had such a great stay and can’t wait to return!

The Elyton was an exceptional experience from the first moment. On arriving we were met by the valet who walked us through the app available, which made managing the need for pur vehicle seamless and easy. The front desk was informative, polite and readily accommodated our late checkout request. The hotel itself is gorgeous, with a charm only seen in early 20th century architecture. The room was thoughtfully laid out and spacious with great views. We did not get to experience the dining, but there are two seemingly fantastic options, including a rooftop bar (which has a cover that is waived for guests). Despite the age of the building, it has been updated to seamlessly integrate the history with modern amenities. I cannot express enough gratitude for the front desk staff, both at check-in, and overnight, who were both working on a holiday. Hats off to this location.

The hotel is great. It’s in a great downtown location, the old boutique feel makes you feel right at home with the southern hospitality the team delivers. Darius and Terrell, the valets, were great. I don’t usually mention valets, but they were so personable and professional that i had to give them a shout out!

My car was returned promptly and in perfect condition, and the entire experience felt seamless. It’s rare to find someone who blends efficiency with such a friendly attitude, but this valet absolutely delivered. I’d happily recommend this service to anyone looking for top‑tier hospitality.

I’m from Birmingham but had never stayed at The Elyton until now — and WOW. The rooms were spotless, the staff was unbelievably friendly, and the service from check-in to checkout was truly top tier. The rooftop was such a vibe… perfect energy, great views, and the whole atmosphere made the stay even better. Definitely a 10/10 experience. I’ll absolutely be back!

Very disappointed in this stay and certainly not up to the Marriott Standards I expect as a gold member. Our keys did not work, every time we needed to get in our room we had to go back to the front desk and have them rekeyed. Elevators were out at times and had to take the service elevator, only one we could get to the 12th floor. Water in room shower was not hot, lukewarm, a couple of lights out in bathroom made if very dark only saving grace there was a small make up lighted mirror. Went downstairs to have coffee on two of the days we stayed there, first day at 7:30 am it was empty and then when they refilled it it was full of grounds and had to ask them to redo it. Second day of stay went down at 8:15 coffee was cold. We had three rooms, spent over 1200 dollars for a three night stay for one room and I just felt it was not a normal Marriott experience. I still have not received a copy of my bill, calling them today, giving them two emails but an hour later, I still have not received a copy of the bill which I was told would be sent to me on Sunday, it is now Monday at 5pm and the hotel still has not sent a copy of the bill. I will not stay at this hotel again and very disappointed in the cost and the service we received. We went to the roof top bar to have drinks and the bartender needed more help. Just overall disappointment.

A very nice hotel in the heart of downtown Birmingham. This was our first time here. It’s in a great location near some nice restaurants. We stayed during the Christmas holiday, so it was quite quiet. The front desk staff is very personable and helpful. They were always happy to see us and greeted us each time. We stayed in a suite on the 17th floor. It overlooked downtown. The rooms are very nice. The elevators are a bit rickety, but that makes sense because it’s such an old building. We would come back due to the hospitable staff.

This hotel is beautiful! It’s In a really cute area of Birmingham that feels pretty safe. There is a fabulous little taco shop right around the corner that stays open until midnight on weekends. The rooms were unique. I love the historic building and atmosphere. A few things they can improve on would be 1. 24 hour room service. 2. the shower was moldy 3. The staff was not exceptionally friendly.

The Elyton Hotel is a great hotel with a cool ambiance and is conveniently located in the downtown Birmingham, Alabama area. The hotel has a great ambiance and the staff is friendly and professional. Birmingham, Alabama is one of my favorite cities in the United States and this hotel is a great addition to Birmingham, Alabama.

Staying next door but came to Yard Bird for dinner. Not very good. The burger was cooked poorly and my bartender just disappeared. My plate was full of water I'm sure because the beef is not fresh. Disappointing because I have been here before and it was good.

Pretty cool hotel in an old restored building. What one would might call bougie. Pretty nice decor but the rooms are small. They didn't have a business center which was a negative. The hall to the restaurant smelled of sewer and the bath on the 11th floor also has a distinct odor which was not pleasant. The roof top bar has awesome views but they were out of most liquors which doesn't make sense. I sat there for about an hour listening to the bartender explain why he couldn't make drinks on the menu because they didn't have the basic ingredients. Let's not get into the overpriced drinks with mediocre pizza which is the only thing they make. Not impressed at all. I hate giving negative reviews but come on Marriott..... you can do better than this. 2 stars based on the view and you are lucky to get that. I stay 75 nights a year with Marriott and I will not be back to this property.

Enjoyed my stay. The decor was a bit odd but the historic building was fabulous. Fancy splurge, nice rooftop.

should have been a maybe 4 but maybe a 3.5 if I am feeling kind . Hotel is lovely but in a sketchy neighborhood with shuttered up buildings all around. Comfy bed and quiet setting. Lovely decor! The toilets are industrial and flush loud! Rooftop bar is kind of dark and not enticing despite the view. New bartender was sweet but the drinks were lacking. Worst part is the people that work there were just not there. The front desk guy was sweet as was the waitress for a mediocre breakfast (I wouldn't eat there unless I was desperate). the rest of the people that worked there were on another astral plane. No hospitality or even acknowledgement that another human was there. The whole trip When we left with all out bags no one, esp the baggage guys opened the door or asked to help with our bags or even made a semblance of helping. Southern hospitality at its finest. Back to SoCal and no plans to return here.

I hadn't been to Birmingham in several years, so I was looking for a new Marriott property to stay at. The Elyton Hotel is a Marriott Autograph boutique hotel located downtown. It opened in 2017 and features 111 rooms. When we entered the lobby, you can tell they had an amazing interior designer at work. Beautiful furniture, lighting and artwork. Instead of walking to a counter, you sit at a desk for your check-in. I had read many reviews on the Marriott website about the hotel that made me somewhat uncertain whether this was the right pick. Guests were complaining about air conditioning, street noise, hot water in the shower, lack of room service, cleanliness, etc. We experienced none of these issues in our two-night stay. In fact, there was a bottle of Prosecco in our room because it was my birthday. If you are wowed by the lobby, the rooms are equally stylish. Being a historic property, I knew the rooms weren't going to be large, and they're not. A lot of space was wasted in the entrance and hallway. The bathroom sink is beautifully lit by a cool looking mirror, but there simply isn't enough light, especially for women and makeup. There are numerous high-end restaurants within walking distance, including Helen and Café Dupont. Downtown was pretty empty on a weekend. Other than the room size and bathroom lighting, the $300+ rate seemed steep.

AVOID STAYING HERE! Dishonest, obnoxious and somewhat racist general manager. The property was ok and most of the staff was great but the GM over promises, then under delivers, and when asked about what he promised, will flat out lie to your face. Had the audacity to blame African-American staff members for the problems. Thankfully, we recorded our conversations with him and our posting them to various platforms.

Really awful stay at this hotel July 21/22, 2024. From the beginning it was a disaster with feckless management (Tiffany Williams) and an obnoxiuos mix of attitude and miscommunication on the part of the night clerk Zenneta, clearly standing around trying to do as little as possible to help arriving guests. Though I had booked a reservation in advance I was not allowed to park my car containing valuables in their two secure parking lots after the Valet subcontracting company unrelated to the hotel, had closed them for the night. Feckless management hadn't considered or made available any parking pass to the alternative of public parking on the street. Not even a simple paper pass was available. For a $300 a night hotel that is inexcusable. Marriot Reservations was, at least in my case, very nearly completely unhelpful. I had to ask another property from Hilton located nearby for permission to park there for the night and haul my belongings the 3/4 mile back to the Elyton at 1:00 am in the morning through downtown Birmingham - quite unsafe at night. Instead of resolving the matter satisfactorily management and front desk played further games in the morning by refusing to meet with me or taking responsibility for such deplorable service. They failed at honesty, availability and did not take the initiative to call my phone either to be respectful. The hotel itself is not great, claustrophobic and dark, the lighting in guest rooms is poor, the hotel is not new feeling except for the lobby and public spaces, nor especially clean, nor are guest services really a priority at all. Skip this hotel and go elsewhere, this is less than a quality stay and not worth the price and bad/rude service, no appreciation for guests nor proper redress for simple issues.

We enjoyed our recent weekend stay at the Elyton. We chose a corner king room and were on a lower floor. The room was great and we utilized the available k-cup coffee service for lazy start mornings. The bath area was a great setup - roomy shower and private toliet area. Makeup mirror came in handy. The valet was prompt and courteous - we had all meals offsite. We met the general manager as we were leaving and he went out of his way to help us load our car! There was Friday night street noise but it did eventually quiet down - clearly no fault of a hotel in an urban setting. The noise was not an issue on Saturday evening. This hotel was recommended by friends, and we would stay here again.

The hotel is fabulous. The front desk is great. Valet is great. The restaurant smells horrible. The rooftop bar which is why people pay 300 a night to stay here is awful. The staff is great. The view is great. Yet they are out of most standard alcohol because their GM "forgot" to place the liquor order. You should have Tito's and other basic liquor for this price hotel. Not acceptable.

The historic aspect, age, and decor are pretty cool. This is my experience: no toilet paper in room, anywhere. Sink is clogged. Body wash and shampoo dispensers are empty. Plenty of conditioner. Curtains are jammed and won't close all the way. Probably the worst thing is how I can hear EVERYTHING in the room next to me. I can hear everything the gentleman next to me is saying on the phone. I can hear the Tv like it's in my room. I can hear bare feet walking on the floor tile. Deep breaths and sighs. Seriously everything. It wakes me up in the AM and it's keeping me awake right now. I'd rather be sleeping but since that's not happening I have time to write a yelp review.

Stayed on my wedding night. I do not know why I haven't stayed there before. Let me start this way the front desk staff was outstanding they went out of their way to make me and my wife feel important. I recommend going to the rooftop for drinks and food. I definitely see myself going again.

The rooftop bar and people are amazing... drinks are slightly over priced. Vodka and tonics served in rocks glasses shouldn't be $11 for house vodka, but the atmosphere and the DJ were awesome .

The building appears historic, and the furnishings are modern. Rooftop bar was nice, but a bit chilly outside. The bed was comfortable- a very comfy sleep, followed by a nice hot shower in an oversized shower stall. I would stay here again on future visits to Birmingham.

Stopped over for a night en route to Lake Oconee, When I say they knocked it out the park, I asked in advance for a bottle of champagne to celebrate the wife's anniversary- they doubled down and totally over delivered. THANK YOU to the staff at the Elyton Hotel- you nailed it We've stayed here before and we'll be back again!

First, let me start with the positive. The hotel staff is very nice and the rooms were clean. The bed was very comfortable. The negatives are that the room service food was bad. The thermostat on the wall was so bright at night, that it lit up the whole room and was very annoying. They didn't have a room service menu and they told us room service wasn't available but we complained enough so they did it. The worst part of the whole experience was at night. We didn't get any sleep because people were drag racing outside the hotel and blasting their music so loud it felt like it was in our room 6 floors up. This continued all night long. The hotel is very nice but in the wrong part of town. Its not a safe area at night.

i never type negative feedback about my stay at any hotel. In fact, I reached out to the CEO of this autograph hotel to offer constructive feedback, but did not receive a response. If having hot water in your hotel room is not important to you, or if your time is not valuable so you don't mind waiting 30 minutes for the valet because he overslept, or if you enjoy a sub-par menu and no option for room service, and no water bottles in room- then this is the hotel for you. Enjoy!

Incredible hotel in historic downtown Birmingham with the flair for the classic styling. The rooms are beautiful and very elegant in there simplicity. Amazing restaurant on site and fantastic atmosphere.

Not for me! The room was tiny for the two of us. The shower water hardly warmed and when I advised the staff, the reply was "we've had that problem." Staff was nice and pleasant but not well trained. The conditioner and liquid soap were empty when I showered in the morning. I politely advised staff to replenish and the next day, still empty. The lighting in the bathroom area was very dim and my wife was frustrated trying to apply her makeup. I have no idea how the hotel earned a 4 diamond standing from AAA.

Spent two nights here on my last business trip which might be the last for some time (stay safe!). I probably spend 25 nights a year at hotel while traveling on business and the Elyton is one of the better ones. A nicely rehabbed historic hotel with just the right amount of funkiness in the room. Reminds me of the Kimpton in Downtown Denver. Room was long and skinny, but nicely laid out. Furnishings were good quality and the bed was comfortable. The thing that really stood out was the speed of the in-room wifi. Most hotels have "fast enough" included wifi (5-6 Mbps), but I tested the Elyton's and it rang up at 150 Mbps. The speed difference was noticeable which is what triggered me to test. I did not have a chance to try the restaurant or bar, but the front desk and valet were friendly and efficient. A solid four star stay.

First off, this place is stunning. I love this collection of hotels soo much. That said, a few opportunities here. The signage outside is almost impossible to see unless you have an idea of what you're looking for. They have no dedicated driveway but one shared at the Fairfield next door. The valet had some not so nice folks working there and at least one of them went through my girlfriends console, not cool. My check in experience was also not so great. The agent was far from friendly or welcoming and acted as if I interrupted her conversation with another employee. I'd probably stay again but not for the going rates.

GORGEOUS hotel and very clean rooms. Location is fantastic. See I e was awful. I think they are so slow that the staff didn't really care. It was hard to find people working and I felt like them if I bothered them to ask where the valet is, if I could have extra towels, or best places to eat. The Yard Service was worse than the front desk. Tables hadn't been cleaned. We had to walk up to the waiter every time we needed a refill or to ask for the check. My napkin was dirty and I just decided not to use it because I felt like I was bothering them. All of it came down to lack of service. Food and decor was amazing! Rooftop bar was totally worth it! Great views and the bartender was AWESOME!

What a lovely hotel. We were on a weekend trip to Birmingham for a concert and this was perfect choice. My husband surprised me with a suite. We would definitely stay here again. Friendly, helpful staff and the valet service was prompt even with a wedding in the hotel. We ordered room service once and it promptly arrived, was piping hot and delicious The bed was super comfy. The only issue we had was we thought this level of hotel should provide higher quality bath tissue. Nitpicking I know, but it would a nice touch for this fine establishment.

This is a really lovely hotel to stay in when visiting the Downtown Birmingham area in Alabama. The hotel is located on a corner property at what's known as "the heaviest corner on Earth". It's a great spot amidst what appears to be a Birmingham revival. There is a gourmet chocolate shop around the block, and several cafes and restaurants are within walking distance, as well as a charming used book store. It's nice to have these nearby because it is mostly a driving town regardless of the massive sidewalk infrastructure of downtown Birmingham. The hotel is narrow and tall and gets an A+ for effort in all domains. The style integration into its architectural stunning environment is very impressive. It sits amidst a massive collection of magnificent buildings that have mostly been shuttered and it is a privilege to be able to stay there and gaze at these buildings and imagine their glorious heydays. The lobby retains marble and stairwell that appears to be from the 1920's perhaps (this is only a guess and not checked for accuracy. The elevators are headed with dial floor indicators. The lobby is filled with gigantic benches that are extremely long or very high backed and are a pleasure to sit in and look at. There is complimentary aromatic morning coffee on the lobby credenza. The mood is cheery and simple and although the Yard restaurant is not necessarily Vegan friendly, the salad and veggies were delicious and the chef and wait staff really wanted to help. There is a great rooftop bar and has great views of the city from its outside deck. Our room was very comfortable felt like a luxurious apartment. There are wrap around windows. The bathroom was on the small and awkward side but modern and wonderful, with yellow glass doors.

The Elyton Hotel is the first of Marriot's specially curated "Autograph Collection" Hotels I've stayed in and, to be blunt, it's my favorite hotel in the city. It's also a rather expensive place to stay in and I've only been here twice - once through a free award and another time through the cheapest rate I could find of $180 a night. That said, I believe I have enough to say about my experience here to write a proper review. One of my favorite things to do with unique hotels like this is look into the history of it all, TL;DR at the bottom. The hotel is actually developed over the historic Empire Building, built in 1906, and has seen many businesses and services located within its many floors. In 1964, City National Bank purchased and renovated the building for its operations. In 1984, the building was added to the National Registrar of Historic Places, but it seemingly become abandoned in the early 21st century. That changed in 2012, when John Tampa of Georgia-based Ascent Hospitality purchased the building. Within the next few years, he collaborated with others to renovate the building into what it is today, as well as a nearby Fairfield Inn and The Yard - a restaurant located within the hotel. The entrance alone says "boutique hotel" - a grand chandelier, white marble everywhere, and a deliberately pleasant aroma from a diffuser entices you to turn the corner and check in. The lobby is full of interesting art pieces and decorations that make it almost feel like a museum exhibit. Checking in has always been a great experience for me and the staff are very helpful in answering any and all questions. The rooms themselves vary a fair bit due to the nature of building - for standard rooms, you'll either have what essentially looks like a suite or a long hallway. Despite the age of the building, everything from the appliances to the decor in the rooms are modern and up-to-date. However, in both of my stays here, I have had to call someone from the front desk to help me with something. The first time it was a dirty and broken shower, and the second time it was a lack of shampoo and conditioner (worth mentioning - they use a fancy brand and keep it locked up in bottles, no individual amenities to take home). Generally speaking, the Elyton is a fantastic choice if you want to really make your stay in Birmingham memorable. The hotel itself is a historic building dating back over 100 years, it has a rooftop bar on the 16th floor that serves refreshing cocktails and amazing views of the city, it offers a full-service upscale restaurant in which I've had many delicious meals, and overall it has a charm few hotels possess, hence the Autograph Collection moniker it touts. TL;DR The Elyton Hotel is a unique gem of a hotel located in the heart of Birmingham. The staff offers incredibly refined service and strive to make your stay unforgettable; however, the hotel does have a bit of a consistancy problem with housekeeping and you may have to call someone up to your room to get something cleaned or restocked.

I am very disappointed in this hotel. Second time staying here. You may want to self park since it's $30 for valet. But that is not the poor experience. The rooftop bar has couches that are full of disgusting stains and was not impressed with my $15 glass of wine served in a small white wine glass. They seemed understaffed and inexperienced. However, the bar food was not bad. Due to location I was kept up all night with loud noises and garbage trucks etc. When I couldn't sleep I went to make some coffee in the kuerig (which had mole I wiped out) but after all that the machine was broken. I called downstairs and room service doesn't start untIl 6:30am. Good luck!

This is a very unique and clean hotel that has been around for generations and is a staple to the community. They offer valet starting at $7+ so that you don't have to stress about the parking. Once entering the hotel you'll be welcomed by a marble foyer including an all marble stair case that adds to the ascetics then to the right is the check in area. There is a great resultant on the bottom floor that i just checked out (The Farm I believe). Also is a two sided roof bar that has stellar views of the city. I would recommend checking both out! The only down fall is the 6 person capacity elevators that seem to be too slow for the volume of people trying to get to the roof. You may be waiting a while to get up!

Nice, funky, new but with some serious design flaws. The lobby and the rooftop bar seem very well designed. Having such a hopping rooftop bar/restaurant in the property seems like a nice addition and a significant plus. The lobby cookies are a delightful evening treat. The rooms, however, seem like an effort to use an inherently inappropriate space well. Taking the trend towards sliding bathroom doors a step further, the rooms offer flimsy swinging bathroom doors that don't extend from floor to ceiling, in addition to very tight spaces for the sink and for the shower. Nice furniture, but the room design essentially fails. Just not enough room in each room. You feel me?

Review for moonshine bar only. Nice rooftop bar. Plenty of seating. It was busy when we went on a Tuesday evening. My only complaint is that they were understaffed. It was full and they only had one server. She was very friendly. The manager helped and he was very friendly too. Shared a margarita pizza which was great. Had good drinks. Can't beat the view. We will be back.

The desk clerk was friendly. My first room had a leak, so I was moved to a room less spacious, with less amenities, and only one bed. The following day I requested to be placed into a room more similar to what I was being charged. I was moved to a room with a slightly better view, but still small and with one bed. I am of the opinion the amount I paid did not equate to the service or accommodations received. This was NOT a boutique experience! Save your cash and stay at a regular Marriott, or choose a different boutique option.

Lovely Hotel. Very much enjoyed. Rooms comfortable. Bed comfortable. Valet awesome. Check in a breeze! Had breakfast at the Yard restaurant. Very good. My experience at the rooftop cocktail bar was the only negative. Really poor service. No one greeted us or ever came to get a drink order.

Loved staying here. Wonderful, classy and modern hotel in an historic building in downtown Birmingham. The rooms are modern and well appointed with all modern amenities plus very comfy beds and Main + Goetz bathroom products. Service was very friendly and readily available to help with questions regarding reservation and things to do around town. I definitely plan on coming back soon. A+

HORRENDOUS STAY. My family and I rented two king suites here at the Elyton Hotel for three days. It was a pricey and horrible experience for the price. HORRIBLE. When we got to the rooms we noticed the floor we were on was under construction. With workers currently working with construction tools all over the hall way.. IT DIDNT STOP THERE. The next morning at 7 they CONTINUED!!!! With drill tools and hammering on the wall at 7 IN THE MORNING. Why dis a hotel book two rooms on a floor where they are currently doing construction? We wanted to renew the room so we could actually get some sleep and stay a little longer but the hotel told us that they were completely booked. All 16 floors.. completely booked? I don't believe it. Since they wouldn't let us stay another night I went down and asked if we could at least have peace and quiet our last 3 hours of our stay and the front desk lady was VERY rude and offered no help. They call themselves a 4 star hotel but treated us like a 1 star hostel. Super upsettting -0 STARS

While the hotel is a neat concept, I have to give a 2 star because of the lack of accountability. I paid for the hotel Valet and unfortunately my car was parked in an unsafe parking lot and was broken into. My window was shattered. The Valet management as well as the hotel management told me that they would make it right. It's been almost 2 weeks and I have yet to hear from the hotel management. The valet company finally called and has decided not help me in anyway. I am now out $600 for the cost of my window and the $30 it cost to valet. I am disappointed in how the hotel handled the situation. My romantic birthday weekend unfortunately turned into a rather expensive one. I will be contacting the valet company and hotel again hoping for some kind help.

Have stayed twice now and the staff is fabulous and so are the bars and restaurants.also close enough to walk to some of Birmingham's best bars and restaurants. Irving the concierge helped us a few times and Kim at the front desk was great! Alex the Valet had hustle and a great attitude. The staff makes you feel glad to be there. Amazing location downtown Birmingham, very clean and sophisticated in everything they do. Highly recommend staying here!

Moon Shine rooftop bar is fantastic. The views are awe inspiring and the atmosphere is great for entertaining visitors to the Magic City, or just spending quality chill time with your sweetheart. Look for the blimp mooring tower, Regions Field, and during the elevator ride to the rooftop, look up.

Review for rooftop bar (Moonshine) only: My parents, husband and I visited the rooftop bar after the recommendation of other friends. We loved our experience, had great food & drinks, and enjoyed conversation with the bartenders. I loved the fig pizza & desserts Timmy made, right in front of us - soooo good. Everyone loved their cocktails and appreciated the customizations. Fairly priced, great views and plenty of seating for it being a relatively small space. No complaints about service or quality.

We had a lovely staycation here as our power was out. My main complaint is there is not room service all day & now the room service comes from the restaurant, I'd prefer the more simple menu that use to be available via iPad, since Covid they have it those off. More bath linens would also be appreciated.

Loved staying at this hotel while in Birmingham. Clean rooms, great customer service and overall beautiful place. The location is also very convenient and walking distance to some great restaurants. There is a Zyp bike station across the street so you can easily rent bikes and go to the Publix half a mile away as well. The rooms come equipped with iPads so you are able to message concierge and also play music. When staying in Birmingham I definitely recommend staying here. One down side and my reason for 4 stars- parking is very expensive and not free. Costs $10 bucks every time you enter or leave the property. Also, normal rooms are on the smaller side. Very beautiful and artistic, but definitely small.

We visited this rooftop bar on the night of my birthday after dinner, and it was a great way to end the evening! Comparing to Redmont, this building is taller with more space on the roof. The view is stunning. There are two sides of the roof with different views, and both are just as pretty as the other. When we were there on a Thursday night, there was live music which was lovely. We opted to get beer. Mainly because the cocktails and wine were at minimum $10. I thought that was a little pricey. The beer pricing was anywhere from $5-10 depending on your typical light beers or craft. The selection was decent for beer, though! We really liked the relaxed atmosphere and the decor. It's a cozy spot- whether you are all dressed up or going casual. Side note: the hotel is beautiful. We talked about coming back to stay a night!

Like all, and I mean ALL, Autograph Collection properties these days... Elyton does not disappoint! This hotel is F'n wonderful, clean, well thought out, and loaded with sensibility in style. The Yard downstairs and the rooftop bar have excellent food and drinks. The BEST biscuits and gravy I've had in years. Period. You might think B'nG are easy to make, but a proper crispy yet soft biscuit with running yet cohesive gravy requires master-level skills. Bottom line is this... Best hotel in Birmingham

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. My husband and I stayed here this weekend for a quick trip to Birmingham, and I was in awe of how stylish, comfortable and clean this hotel was. We had a standard king room and it was huge--there's a gorgeous entry way, then the toilet/vanity/shower area, and then finally the bedroom. I love that the toilet/shower area is separate from the bedroom, and that one person can be showering while another is using the restroom. The way the room was configured was efficient and well thought-out, and it was beautifully decorated, too. (Oh, and you get a fridge in your room! A disappearing hotel amenity.) The Elyton is centrally located, and it was easy to get all around downtown. We took a quick Lyft to the Avondale neighborhood to see a show at Saturn and check out a couple breweries; I want to say it was about $7-8 each time. I can't recommend this hotel enough, and will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Birmingham.

We stayed here for 7 days/6 nights. It was fantastic, the staff were very helpful and gracious; great southern hospitality.

I really hate to do this...But I was very disappointed about this hotel stay. Me and my boyfriend stayed here for four nights after a tornado destroyed our house in January and we were trying to "have a staycation" in Birmingham while trying to take a break from all the stress. The first thing I noticed that was strange was that there was NO fitted sheet on our bed...we had to use the sheet to sleep on. Also, the toilet paper roll broke off VERY easily the first night and was broken the entire time. It was already pointed at a wierd angle DOWN so I assumed someone broke it before and jammed it back on sloppily. Also, we didn't have enough cups for our coffee and tea selection and the lids didn't even fit! Now, let's talk about the bar Moonshine...I have to say I've never been more terrified at a sky bar in my life. I was wearing some 2 1/2 heeled shoes and the stones that they have on the ground move and are VERY unsteady. It felt like I was walking in a creek! It was very windy that night and there was a weeding party that was already pretty wasted that they let it. And they were hanging pretty close to the sides of the building where there are NO safety rails to stop anyone from falling off. And if you have bar called moonshine, you should probably have MOONSHINE and not these terrible sugary touristy drinks. This is not bourbon street...Also, I KNOW it covid, but the fact that we had to ASK for a bathrobe down stairs when your upstairs shivering in your tiny towel EXPECTING as many for the guest! The reservation says two=two robes. Not that complicated!) For what it's worth, don't come here. What a let down.

Over priced and under served. We waited over an hour at the restaurant for salad and appetizers only to come out wrong. I can stay at a Four Seasons or St. Regis for these rates. No comparison...
