Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown River North

This was our third stay at this location. Each stay, there's something disappointing. We choose it for the extra space making socializing in the room more enjoyable. That was a success. The supplies in the room have been a problem each time - 1 tissue in the box, empty lotion or shampoo containers, cracked and/or dirty glasses. Last stay, we waited in line for 30-40 min to get a drink during their complimentary cocktail time (5:30-7:30), and discovered there is only 1 bartender for the event. First world problems, sure, but it's a pricey hotel with pricey parking. Other Hilton properties seem to handle service better. We will be changing locations for future Chicago visits.

We stayed for a week. We loved the location. Happy hour was nice, and so was breakfast. The rooms were nice and clean on arrival. However, on the first evening we had to call maintenance because the heater didn't seem to be working. The issue was that the seal on the window was broken so it was letting in cold Winter air. We were advised to keep the curtains drawn at all times. The next day the plug on the sink became stuck. It was a quick fix as maintenance told us that it is happening to all the sinks now due to their age. Annoying, but on both occasions at least maintenance did come very quickly, less than 10 minutes. Initially stayed on the 3rd floor but had to move at night when our room filled with a very strong smell of Marijuana coming in through the air vent! We were offered to move rooms at this point. It was past 9pm, we had a lot to move as a family staying for one week, and also an upset baby who had to be woken up. It would have been appreciated to have some help from hotel staff with this, even just helping to transport our luggage to the new room. In the aftermath of the chaos we realized we forgot two items in the previous room, when we went to the front desk to retrieve them, we were told that nothing was found in the room. So, are housekeeping staff stealing guests things? We initially were not impressed with housekeeping (our towels weren't even replaced), but after moving rooms and being on a different floor housekeeping seemed great, so maybe the quality varies depending on which floor you are on. Most of the front desk staff lack any desire to be helpful or friendly EXCEPT the two Black men who were there. Would not recommend this hotel based on these experiences. Shame as it is a beautiful building and a great location. Sadly the pool was also too cold to enjoy.

PROS - Great location. Esthetically beautiful. Breakfast amazing/included. Complimentary happy hour w/snacks. Clean spacious rooms. Day time staff amazing & welcoming. CONS - The room I was given on 3rd floor was so noisy I couldnt sleep 😑. Being able to rest is so important. Night time staff who where men not so helpful or friendly. I asked if they could change my room but his response was "all rooms are noisy" he seemed annoyed and just not helpful. Also the staff day or night will not answer phone if you call from your room. I tried several times. Would I stay there again? YES. The lady in morning told me next time I come she would give me a quieter room.

We booked this hotel through a third party website that described the rooms as suites with two separate rooms and that was VERY much not the case. Each room has a living room with a pull out couch and a bedroom with two queen beds. They consider this to be a two room suite. It became an issue for the kiddos as we thought the room was going to have more space than it actually did. We spoke to the front desk, while they were kind, there was nothing they could do. In hindsight, I feel that a discount on another room or something else to take the sting off would've been nicer. Maybe even a credit. I'm not sure. The bathroom was not well kept at all. There were stains on the floor, holes on the back of the bathroom door, and it was not nearly as clean as it could've or should've been. The breakfast in the morning is solid. It definitely draws a crowd. The crowd is diverse. Doing breakfast downstairs with kids can be tough. The crowd isn't incredible accommodating or understanding, but what can you do. There was a terrible noise that sounded 100% of the time we were in the room and since we gave the kids the main room so we could watch TV and be closer to the door, we heard it all night and weren't able to sleep very well.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILY I went there with the wife and a toddler and the hotel looked nice and in a nice location. They charged us an early check-in fee which was annoying as we were less than 2 hours early but whatever. The room wasn't ready for us as a window seal kept the room too cold and the drain was clogged causing us to need maintenance twice in the first day. What's the point of an early check-in fee if our room isn't even ready? A few days in we had to leave because someone near us was smoking drugs on the property and the fumes seeped into our room. Our toddler was sleeping and inhaling the stuff. We had to wake the baby and move all of our stuff hastily at night into a new room, when we finally were given one. No assistance was offered to move and when we accidentally left some clothing behind, housekeeping lost it. To make matters worse the automatic lights in our new room weren't working so it took us another hour before we could try to get the baby back to sleep. Management was told about this and offered to waive the early check-in (this ought to have been done after two maintenance calls on the first day) and a trivial amount of Hilton points. They also said the room exchange was free (thanks for not making us pay to leave a room filled with drug fumes our baby was sleeping in, I guess?). That was unacceptable, I've had many good experiences at many good Hiltons and I let little things slide all the time, but that wasn't a little thing. That was a child exposed to drugs in our hotel room. Breakfast and Happy hour was nice though. I'm sure it would be fine if you didn't have a kid or were lucky enough not to have a major problem.

Stayed here in December for number of nights. The experience was disappointing.|Staff at reception seem like they all dislike their job. We were continously provided with the wrong information and they were not helpful.|When we arrived we had 9 large cases, we asked them if we could get help bringing them up to our room (we physically couldn't handle all 9 + couple of smaller bags at once) and we told no staff were available. We then asked about a cart, they told us WE needed to go and look for one (if there is one at all) to the valet. My husband went down and the valet told him the hotel doesn't have any carts at all. Fine - we struggled to get all bags into the elevator, until ONE OF OTHER GUESTS helped us move them (not staff!).|As we had a lot of items in the bags, we opted for no housekeeping - we left the do not disturb sign on our door for the duration of our stay only to come back one day to find things moved around. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE to enter guests room with a do not disturb sign on, it is a complete breach of privacy. When I asked at reception, I was told they were changing the TV remotes - that does not constitute an emergency for them to enter the room. Reception staff said "i apologise, you should have been told about this project by whomever checked you in. When i told him that in fact it was him, who checked me in, there was no response".|Not a single item at breakfast was marked with allergens, i had to ask every morning about every item, in order to figure out if it was ok to eat it. This is huge, should be a standard practice.|That being said, staff during breakfast - from waiters to the chefs, were wonderful and were able to speedily answer my questions, always super pleasant even when they were busy, so i appreciated that a lot.|Upon check out we saw other guests using a cart, so I guess we were lied to upon check in about no carts at the hotel.|When checking out, the girl at reception just said - i will email you your receipt. Not even thank you, how was your stay etc. They don't care - they had our money and that was that.|If you are looking for decent service, this wouldn't be it.|Out bathroom looked like it was undergoing renovations, and quite honestly i felt like everytime i showered i wasn't sure if the ceiling wasn't going to cave in on top of me.||Not the best experience.||Location was good though.

Beautiful views, great service with complimentary breakfast, the hotel is safe and clean and it's right in the middle of everything. Pharmacies, restaurants, and entertainment were all within walking distance. The room was clean and neat. I used the gym, which was also very clean. There was a heated pool for swimming. There are so many amenities I couldn't name them all. I had no complaints. I stay at Embassy Suites whenever I get a chance and this location was amongst the best.

Overall we had a good time. Place is nicely located. 3 elevators to go from parking garage to room. Very cool looking inside. Interior is wide open. Everything was clean. Great breakfast in the morning with complimentary drinks in the evening (very busy for both of these). Staff is friendly. Few complaints. They messed up the bill so be careful when booking on different sites like Expedia. The transfer between the two was messed up so keep an eye on your bill. We stayed two nights and housekeeping doesn’t keep the bottles full ( soap/ shampoo/conditioner). Overall we still had a good time n would stay here again.

Embassy Suites provided a very pleasant base of operations for a quick downtown staycation. It's location is ideal for those looking to explore on foot, with easy access to attractions on Michigan Avenue and State Street and a plethora of local restaurants. I really appreciated the tucked-away interior location of the valet parking drop-off. It's a nice contrast to the hurried airport drop-off feel of other hotels that make you meet the valet at the street entrance and unload your luggage while trying to avoid getting clipped by passing cars. It's not pretty to look at - what garage is? - but for something like this, I'll take function over form every time. The room was comfortable and clean, with space to relax in the living area -- exactly what I expect from an Embassy Suites. Breakfast was a bit of a traffic jam, but that's not the hotel's fault the morning after a full house. The gentlemen running the omelette station were doing everything they could to keep their line moving. Don't waste calories on the pancakes. My only complaint was that the water in the swimming pool was cold. Maybe that's by design to keep it from getting too crowded?

This was my first time staying in a hotel with this kind of design, where all the rooms face the open central area of the building. Our room's window faced the attached parking garage, but we didn't pay extra for a view, which wasn't a big deal to me. The location is very convenient, within walking distance of many downtown attractions, and the hotel breakfast was surprisingly good. However, I do wish the beds in our suite were larger. It came with two full-size beds and a pull-out sofa, but the full beds were too small for two adults to sleep comfortably. This was my biggest issue and why I would give them 3 stars. You say the room sleeps 6. Maybe children on those full size beds. One thing I regret is not bringing slippers. The hotel didn't provide any, and walking on the dark carpeted floors made me feel a bit uneasy. Overall, a decent stay with room for improvement!

I didn't stay at this hotel, I did stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Magnificent Mile, which is very nearby and around corner from my hotel, I only had access to their gym because our gym was down for maintenance so since they are both Hilton hotels I got to used there gym at this location, This hotel is pretty there do have a restaurant inside here entrance lobby same as my hotel we had Webster Grill connected to our Hotel, Anyhow the elevators don't lead to the second floor, I had to walk up and down the curve french style stairs, which I don't mind got to burn calories using the stairs I guess !!! Walgreens is nearby if you want snacks in your hotel fridge, and there is a Grand Street subway CTA station !!!! I was reading Danielle L. review if you scroll below They charged her $75.00 for early check-in, and there charged me $71.49 for early check-in at Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown /Magnificent Mile and there charged me for a pet stay, I was saying the same thing I stood at many hotels and I never heard early charged check-in, I'm trying to figure what type way is Hilton hotel trying to go upscale like the other Five-star resort's: Sofitel ( Accor Hotels ), Virgin Hotels, Four Seasons Hotel, Ritz and Carlton hotel, Sandals Resorts, Karibe Hotel, Kaliko Beach Club, Fort Young Hotel, Atlantais Resort, Intercontinental hotel (Dominica Cabrits Resort spa), Marriott Hotel, Hyatt hotels, Choice Hotels (Quality Inn), Loews Hotels, Melia' Hotel, Louis Vuitton hotel, Fendi hotel, Club Med Hotel, Trump Hotel, etc High-End hotels!!! I booked us a room online Booking.com. Worst case scenario, the rate was pretty high due to the Republican convention they hosted during that week. I didn't knew at first until we arrived in Chicago and all the police patrolling on the streets. Pros: Walking distance to many restaurants and stores which I advise do not rent a car and just Uber. Room and bathroom is really spacious. Nice view of downtown. Free breakfast including fresh cooked omelette which is their specialty. Two complimentary free drinks Cons: Difficult to sleep due to the city noise. So I advise to book a higher floor. Air conditioner does not work as well Parking fee

This is a perfectly acceptable Embassy Suites in a good part of town. It's about a two block walk from the Grand Street Red Line station and within a ten minute walk to a number of restaurants, stores and tourist attractions. My room was well kept, even though I spent most of the time in the bedroom. I liked the comfortable bed. I loved the plug ins for my electronics. I was semi bummed only one bellhop was working. I wanted to leave my bags, so I could do some exploring before I checked in, but ended up stuck in a long line of arriving guests. Later, after dinner, the hotel lost its television stream. It wasn't its fault, something happened with the provider, but stream wasn't fixed until the morning. Breakfast wasn't as fancy as it used to be, but it was still a-ok. Made-to-order omelets are available. Additional hot options, fruit, yogurt, cereals, bagels and muffins and juices are, too. The staff, while a bit overwhelmed, was friendly and happy to help.

Stayed here for three nights while on a work trip. Nice comfortable room. They provide a free breakfast which is good. Can come down for a quick bite before heading out. Great location. Lots of restaurant options.

Very late check in time that they are kind of strict about --$75 early check in fee if before 4 pm. This was annoying and Ive never experienced before. Rooms need updating: There is an awkwardly large window facing the hallway. Weird. Shower was incredibly narrow. I barely fit so I doubt a man could. Shower head was stuck upon arrival. To their credit, staff had a maintenance guy there in 10 min. He was able to loosen the knob but after I took a shower, I turned the knob off and noticed it continued to drip. By morning, there was a puddle of water on the bathroom floor. The TV's are not Smart so no streaming from your phone. Location: very walkable. Nice shops around. Was on 4th floor, city view with CRAZy, obnoxious sirens going by until late into the night. Seriously, is there a hospital nearby? Breakfast was meh. Very overpriced for experience.

Since my initial posting, the hotel management has acknowledged the inappropriate actions of this security guard and enrolled him into an anger management class. I felt it appropriate to update my review and give the hotel acknowledgment of their gesture.

Clean room and convenient location. Walking distance to many restaurants. Happy hour and breakfast both free to guests. I enjoyed my stay.

My family hosted a family reunion at this hotel this summer (June 2024). This event is something we look forward to every two years and is attended by ~150 family members. Unfortunately this year's reunion was tainted by the experience we had at this hotel, where events were hosted. This is largely because on the opening night, a security guard (see image below of the individual) with the first name "Diamond", interrupted a reunion event and began harassing individuals and screaming at the top of his lungs that we were not suppose to congregate in the atrium and play a slideshow there. These "rules" were never socialized with our planning committee nor was it made clear what areas were "off limits" to us. Not only was the security guard screaming, he was hostile and aggressive with our family, getting in people's faces and personal space. At one point, one of his peers had to step in to stop him from continuing on. The interruption he created completely derailed the event and changed the tone for the rest of the evening which was very unfortunate. Since our family is in large part compromised of minorities, it felt targeted and as if we were spoken to in a demeaning manner, on purpose. Overall, I advise others to heed the warning and be mindful of the interaction with security we faced. While the hotel staff (reception, management, cleaning crew) treated us with respect -- this incident soured our time there and stood out to us.

Avoid. Bad smell everywhere, but particularly in room. My bed has a broken leg. Sheets don't fit bed and have multiple holes. Room looks into hallway one way and directly into a very close apartment building the other. Curtains have holes. I suspect my sheet and curtain holes are cigarette burns. Replace them! You have to drive your car into the garage for the valet, which...isn't a valet? However, if you don't use the valet, you're not allowed to use your car. I wasn't thanked for being an honors member or given water at check in. Hotel navigation is a pain. Gym is SO small compared to how huge the lobby is-why? I originally gave two stars but had to knock down to one for customer service. I requested house keeping at 9:30 in the morning, as I had afternoon Zoom meetings I need privacy for. They couldn't accommodate that by 11, when I needed the room again. I requested services again at 11:30, they told me they'd be able to get that done by 1:30. At 2 they still had arrived and had no plan to rectify things.

Disgusting and crusty! Just close this GIANT MOTEL down. I mean what in the 1980s did I sign my kids up for! This place was old fashioned and disappointing. I had to remind myself I was not in college popping my kitty in a MOTEL. Whew flashbacks. And the POOL! Wow! The paneling from the ceiling was falling down and there was a dirty ring around the pool full of people! Just gross to the core. Downtown who, downtown ain't for you!

We got a suite for extra space and we were really happy w the layout, there is a small wet bar in the sitting area, a full bath and another sink in the bedroom.. plenty of space to move around and flexible room to do make up, hair, etc. The curtains were broke, but we fixed them, no biggie. Breakfast included was very nice and abundant w great selections. Nice layout w 4 glass elevators and open center mezzanine for gathering-- huge problem here- the noise-kids screaming and running around during breakfast time just echoes up thru every level of the hotel. We were on 6 and it sounded like they were coming thru our door. Very LOUD at early morning hours, the poor guys sleeping on the fold out couch were miserable! Bring ear plugs for your stay, or don't plan on using the extra sleeping space on the fold out... Great location, clean hotel, and staff was very efficient at check in.

A total of 12 of us came here for a business meeting. First, it's very difficult to find parking, all they had was valet. You have to pull up to the valet door, drive down the ramp, and meet the valet at their office. I took the elevator to the lobby, and this is where everything went downhill. I checked in, but the lady behind the desk told me my room wasn't ready. As we spoke, I found out there were two of us with the same exact name, so she accidentally gave me the wrong room. I informed her of my Hilton honors account and she located my room, but it still wasn't ready. She found me a room with a king bed, so I went up to my room. I immediately discovered the room had two double beds. I went back to the desk and the young man behind the counter assisted me. He took care of me and found me another king room. This is not how you want to start your business trip. The room was nice, the shower at 6am was cold, no hot water at all, there was noise from the street most of the night, (but it was to be expected). Overall, a nice hotel with an excellent breakfast, but not the greatest service.

I've previously stayed at the Hilton hotels, and thought this would be of the same caliber and quality, but it certainly was not. First, a male staffer informed me that an early ck-in costs $75 extra. Since I was already paying $300/nt for one room, I waited until the 4 pm check-in and used the "digital key" check-in process which never worked. Waited in a long front desk line (only 2 staffers working the check-in crowd), and was informed by a male front desk staffer that the "digital key" feature was "stuck." Finally they checked me in at 5:30 p.m. after waiting in line for a good while. No usual Hilton Honor amenities were provided. Warning: A $200 "deposit" was added to my check-in experience without explanation, and no, I am not an international visitor. Fortunately, it was removed upon checkout. There were only 4 small elevators to serve the entire hotel, so elevator wait time ranged from 5 to 15 or more minutes, and if you had a cart filled, it was at least a 20-30 minute wait. Although the room was on a higher floor, constant sirens, honking horns, car screeches et al occurred throughout the weekend evenings so it was difficult to sleep! Our large group of nearly 150 was celebrating a bi-annual family reunion at this hotel, but was informed that we could NOT eat or drink in the hospitality room that we rented on the mezzanine level. The hospitality room only held 50 persons, and apparently, hotel cameras clicked away throughout the weekend. Traditionally over the past 23 years of our reunions, the hospitality room was where the family could visit with snacks. Not so at this Embassy Suites! I definitely would -not- stay here again, or at any Embassy Suites for that matter. My loyalty has now switched to the Marriott, whose chain of hotels are also located in downtown Chicago.

I stayed here just one night on business. I was able to experience the happy hour and breakfast. The happy hour bartender was very nice. The food was super Limited though. Hummus, animal crackers, pretzels and pita that was about it. Breakfast was quite good. Like any Embassy Suites it had the build your own omelets in addition to Serve Yourself hot items breads cereals fruits all of that. The bacon was very thin and not all that great. They only had pork sausage. But the facilities are clean. The gym is open 24 hours. The staff was all very nice. I would stay here again

Update: I have removed a 1-star review of a shocking incident that occurred on the opening night of our 3-night family reunion in June at the request of some of the planners of the reunion. This was removed because the hotel has apologized profusely, removed a $1,000 fine and promised to send the security guard to anger management training. To be neutral, I am giving this hotel 3 stars. Two things I liked: The suites were spacious and had three sinks - and plenty of mirrors. The location was fabulous with famous sights within easy walking distance.

Stayed overnight. 10th floor room faced parking garage across street. Very noisy...car alarms, ambulances, garbage trucks. Room had odor. Breakfast was poor. Super thin bacon, tater tots, and eggs. I gave it an extra star bc it's still affordable and good location, but would not stay here again.

We usually love Embassy suites. But this one needs some updates. The living room and bathroom temp was a sauna the whole time, we turned temp down in bedroom but there is no thermostat in the living room. The breakfast was very disappointing, waffles weren't done, not crispy. Tater tots were well sad. With the Hilton app you can get a digital key and can go straight to your room which is great but then no one tells you what time breakfast is or how to access the wifi. There is nothing in the room to tell you either. So guests have to take the extra step of calling the front desk for all that info. The message hotel feature on the app was ignored by hotel staff.

Stayed with a family reunion and at 3am a woman was banging on my door claiming it was her room. I was terrified. Called security and someone came up and told her to get lost. 10 minutes later she returned violently banging on my door and window. I have never felt so unsafe at a hotel in my life and will never return and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area so that's saying ALOT. Do not stay here if you care about your safety or the safety of your loved ones. Other negatives, long lines for everything including check-in, breakfast and happy hours.

Great location, and the staff was super helpful. Lots of restaurants in waking distance and our family had a great experience.

Our stay was end of June to first week in July 2024. Family with kids. We would have left early and gone elsewhere if we could have. Worst stay ever. Stayed in Chicago, our past home, these past 2 weeks. Goal was to visit friends and family and see the museums/ sights. Stayed one week at another hotel closer to Michigan Avenue that was less expensive and a much better experience. How shall I list the imperfections of this hotel??: -Check in time was an absolute nightmare. We waited at least 30 minutes to check in amongst a long line of people that were trying to do the same thing. They did not have enough staff to accommodate all the people needing to check in. -At least 1 or 2 of the 4 elevators were constantly broken. -Waiting to go from up to down or down to up on the elevator was a constant struggle every time we returned to the hotel or when trying to leave the hotel. We were always packed like sardines; this was likely due to the fact that two of the four elevators were almost always broken. The stairs became our friend. -"Laundry room" never worked. This hotel is HUGE and they have one washer and one dryer, both of which were broken the entire week we were here. I even called ahead to ensure they had laundry services and was reassured that they had them. -Routine maid service did not occur. We had to ask (literally each day) to have clean towels and the garbage emptied in our room. At one point our room was abysmal after 2 days without service. My husband asked for service and was told that we were "not on the list". Huh???..... One day in desperation, I tracked down a maid with her cart and asked if I could have some towels and she told me no. I then walked around the hallway and found another maid and begged for a few towels and she told me she didn't have any; this was my game for the week. I was there, hunting down maids, begging for towels. -The facility could be fairly nice, but nobody attends to the garbage and it was literally overflowing in multiple locations. -Dirty indoor pool area. Bandaids, hair everywhere. Nasty. -The hotel bathroom comes with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion. Would be great if any of them actually had anything in them, but we were here for seven days and they were always empty. :( If only I would've asked friends prior to booking here (they all screeched when I told them where we were staying our 2nd week in town- "the Embassy-not-so-suites, ha ha ha!" ) I would've known better. Trust me- book somewhere else. This is not a comfortable or clean place to stay. Worst ever. Edit to add that on our last morning in this hotel, housekeeping knocked on our door and OPENED it wide open at 8:30 am. No housekeeping services all week, but on the day we are to leave, they are there bright and early to awaken our two children sleeping on the pull out couch. Unbelievable.

will never come back here again. the front desk receptionist was horrible. Yama did not understand how to comprehend the english language. He can't speak nor respond when someone is talking to him. I had to ask the same question over and over. Check in was miserable due to Yama. The staff never pick up the phone either.

Very nice and well kept hotel. Delicious breakfast. Despite location, it was nice and quiet and very convenient to trains. Walkable to the casino. Had

First time I needed to make a hotel complaint. Hotel reservations said 55 each for two cars parking. They lied. We had to pay 79 each car!! They didn't warn us the window opens completely and there is no screen! Thank goodness we noticed and used hangers to block it from opening! Staff is so slow and take forever doing a simple task. Waited 20 minutes for a print out and that was the manager marlon. Staff all say different things and wasted our time from exploring the city!

We stayed here with family & had such a good experience. First of all, location, location, location. Walkable to many restaurants, bars, and nearby trains. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast daily, it was good & saves money if you're traveling with kids. They offer a snack time mid day but unfortunately we didn't catch that. They have a gym that has everything you need & a small pool. Rooms are a little out dated but, it's a great value for families & we would definitely stay here again. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. Thank you embassy suites staff for making it a comfortable stay!

We're going on 24hrs here and loving it. The free afternoon/evening reception and free breakfast are easily worth the price. The quick stop for snacks and drinks tided us over with the two hour Giordano's pizza wait. The free breakfast (don't let 'free' fool you, they offer 30-40 things to pick from) got the kids off to a good start and probably saved us $50 each morning. All the employees are super nice too! Our King suite (one king bedroom with double sofa bed) is the right size for our family of four. The room does show some some age and the bed is harder but we slept great and it's clean. Valet parking is also $69 per night with in/out privileges, which is pricey, but the free items are easily over setting the extra cost. The location is great and we'd stay again with the amenities offered and excellent employees.

A nice hotel with hardworking staff; however, the hotel has decided to go cashless. This means patrons cannot break bills to leave tips for those hardworking employees. This sad as it will cut into tips for bar staff and hotel cleaners.

The best experience ever! Everything was perfect and expectacular. Aside from the black receptionist who was very unpleasant and very nasty she had this unwelcome attitude openly unwilling to assist us with an early check-in which all hotels do as long as you pay the fee, we were very tired of the long flight hours, had not slept but she obviously couldn't care less, she was very rude,unpolite and very nasty, Thankfully the Manager got involved and he was very nice and professional and was willing to assisted us with an early check in, we just had to pay the additional fees but that was no problem. Everything else was fabulous, everyone else except for the receptionist they were very nice from the cleaning people, the cooks, assistants, buffet personnel and the 5 am Manager *****. Their breakfast buffet is expectacular, lots of food choices Everything deliciously made. All the hotel facilities are very clean, the bathrooms, the resting areas, the restaurants. Beautiful hotel to stay in, I am going to recommend it to all my friends and relatives for the next time they come to Chicago. Thank you for making my vacation a five star vacation!

I stayed at this hotel sometime back in 2019 and I'm updating my review below based on my recent stay in September 2022. The hotel is in a great location - very close to the Mag Mile for shopping, plenty of restaurants in the area, and in close proximity to the nightlife and bars. Grand station is very close walking distance to use transit. Staff are very friendly! Especially the bar staff for the evening drinks. The evening drinks were great as they offer basic mixed drinks, beer and wine. The snacks were ok, but they did fill us up or carry us over until a late dinner. Complimentary breakfast buffet had plenty of hot options to choose from, it wasn't as busy during the weekends this time around, but that could be because of the time of year. I liked the freshly made omelet this time around as well. Although they used to offer complimentary drinks, they seem to have stopped offering this in the mornings. They finally offered complimentary wifi which was great! To sign-on, use your last name and room number. The rooms are also still very dated, although clean. The noise from the streets and the main foyer do carry through into the rooms as we could hear dump trucks/loud cars in the bedroom as they pass by and guests chatter in the living room. What I did like about it was that it had a separate living room. Overall, I feel this hotel was more of a 3.5 star hotel, rather than a 4 star hotel. I'd stay here again if the price was the most affordable compared to other hotels in the same category or better.

Be wary of ever seeing your deposit returned!!! The room at Embassy Chicago River North was great. I enjoyed the cocktail tickets and free breakfast was great. I felt secure with the location. My problem comes with me putting a deposit (obviously) for incidentals and never getting it returned. It has been over a month. When I call, I get placed on hold and eventually they hang up. No one is willing to help retrieve my credit card deposit. I encourage you all to be mindful of this when considering this hotel. I am currently out of $300 because of my stay there. I travel often and stay at many different hotels across the United States. I can say that moving forward, Embassy Suites will NOT be an option.

We stayed there this last weekend for my friends birthday and first off, there was food from another guest left in our fridge, second off, one of the lights wasn't working, third off, the next room we stayed in had what looked like a dried rat dropping on one of the face towels, and pasty, fourth, we had put two cards under the hotel and had specifically told them which card to use. They used the wrong card after they said they had told us they wouldn't charge it. However, Hector the Bellman was an absolute doll. Loved him! But that's about it.

Great location! Defiantly tired and needs allot of facelifting. The rooms especially. Old toilet, bedding, carpet etc. As for the pool, it looks allot bigger in the pictures than it does in person. Way too crowded and too small. For value and location it is great.

Maybe the front desk lady hated me. She put us in the loudest section of the hotel with outside bar noise, loud cars ... it was like sleeping on a bench outside. So far, it's so damn loud , I've gotten no sleep. This was extremely expensive to be awake all night due to the noise volume. I told her there were children under four involved and she put us in this terrible location. Stay away from this place. I'm sure there are hotels where you can actually sleep. The elevators and phones don't work either. The Hilton company should be embarrassed. Lousy- is too good a word.

We had cockroaches in our room and had to switch rooms in the wee hours of the morning. Management was almost impossible to reach. Very disappointed in our stay.

A huge reunion of about 120 people stayed at the hotel. As the reunion tried to commence, there were road blocks all weekend long. It was a mess for the organizers that had worked so hard to bring joy to this great family. I wouldn't trust bringing anything special to this hotel!

Easy to get someone on the phone, fabulous continental breakfast, and Marquis location. Sure, this place could use a facelift as it displays a lot of brown and rust hues and it's a little noisy since it's right downtown...but accessibility to the highway, Michigan Ave, the Lake, the train, and plenty of restaurants and shops outweighs the time warp. Furthermore, you seldom if ever, find a hotel with a complimentary breakfast inclusive of on-demand omelette station and Belgian waffle maker! I must give a shout out to Alma up front and the parking crew. My car was always ready within an instant after requesting it, regardless of time of day or day of the week. Alma was also incredibly helpful when I thought I had accidentally left my wallet in my hotel room. Hats off to her for supreme customer service!

Stayed here several days before New Years. Place was completely booked and very understaffed. On the last night of our trip, our door lock stopped working. I tried to call using a phone in the hallway, but it rang and rang and no one ever answered. I ended up going down to the lobby, and had to wait in the line three times, over 15 min each time, before they finally would admit we were having issues getting into our room. They kept saying we needed to keep the keys away from phones, etc. But literally it would work in the elevator but the door wouldn't work. Finally, after the third time in line, the front desk lady came up with us, and then had to call maintenance to come break us into the room so we could get in. Overall, it took over 90 minutes just to get into our own hotel room, and we ended up over an hour late to an appointment in uptown because we couldn't get into our room to get coats, keys, etc. Very disappointed. Have been a Hilton Honors member for several years now, and this has been by far our very worst experience. Do not recommend.

Found a roach in our room. Went to guest services didn't seem surprised when we said we found a roach. Didn't do anything to help. Not worth the price. If I could I'd put 0 stars.

The absolute bottom rung of any Hilton hotel I've ever stayed in. The rudest front desk person I've ever encountered. Pull out bed had no blanket. No big deal at all I thought. I'll just call downstairs and have them bring one up. Problem 1- when you hit the guest services button on phone it says it's not a valid extension. I dial zero. It rings dozens of times. I call their local number. Same thing. I finally get dressed again, go downstairs and the lady at the front desk was so grouchy, so accusatory and so downright awful. I've probably stayed at 200 Hilton properties in 4 continents and she wA by far the worst customer service person I've ever come in contact with. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

Ok so I stay at a lot of Embassy Suites, this is the worst one so far! TV service cuts in & out? TV's are super old & small, no one in the kitchen can make a omelette, rooms are just ok clean, the air & heat really doesn't work, they only have one washer and dryer but the dryer doesn't work!!!!! I can go on and on, the positive is most of the staff are nice and friendly.

My family and I initially had a nice stay here. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. A week after checking out we were charged a party/alcohol/cleaning fee of $250. We were traveling with 2 adults and 5 children and had two rooms. At no point was there any alcohol in the room or any parties. I spoke with the manager, Jose Valentin, who told us pictures would be sent and I was hung up on. No pictures were sent and no refund had been issued. After creating a case with Corporate, we were promised a response within 48 hours. No one reached out. After two weeks of trying to get in touch with management, pictures were finally sent but they were not of our room. We don't know whose room it was but we've been fraudulently charged and will be disputing charges with our credit card company. Hilton corporate has also refused to help us. Their response to this has been unbelievably unprofessional. We stay at Hilton properties often; 4 times in the last year and have never been treated this way. Beware of staying here. It's more of a headache than it's worth.

I only gave this hotel a 3 because of the location being so convenient and close to everything! Otherwise, for the price, the hotel is sorely outdated, the beds are small, the toilet had black mold and was filthy, and the luggage racks were filthy as well. The parking was misleading. I was told valet was mandatory and it was 1 flat fee for the entire stay. I was charged 80.00 per night in addition to what I had already paid for the room. I was also interested in late check out, and no one was aware of the actual policy! It varied from each employee. With that being said, I was locked out of the room prematurely as I was transferring my families luggage from the floor to the garage. Would not recommend the hotel. There are plenty of other hotels that I bet are better in this great area.

Great Hotel, Location and Staff! Came in from Indiana for a long weekend and truly enjoyed our stay. Location could not be in a much better place. Convenient to the highway and was able to find the hotel easily. Parked using the hotel valet and it is nice parking was also in the Hotel so it was covered and there was staff to overlook the cars. Hotel was close to Michigan Avenue and close to the Boat Tours we did while there and not too far from Millennium Park. Hotel was near all the restaurants and was close to great Chicago pizza options. Staff mentioned the hotel just got renovated this year and it shows. Clean rooms, bright and large area for our family. There was a separate living room area and having my family of 4 it helped having 3 sinks for us to utilize. There was nothing more we can ask for breakfast as it was a full breakfast buffet so a lot of options to choose from each morning. The indoor pool was great for the kids and just located on the 2nd floor of the hotel. All the interactions with the staff was amazing from beginning to end with Valet, Front Desk, Housekeeping and breakfast staff. We did call down to request for more towels and they were quick to bring it to us. Great stay and I recommend this hotel. We will definitely be coming back when we return next month.

The location of this Embassy Suites is great. The cleanliness is overall alright, but the rooms could use an update. The bathroom needed some caulking work and the return vent was gross and not attached to the wall properly. The swimming pool had cold water and was about 2/3 full. Not the best hotel in River North, but okay for less than $200/ night. Don't pay for hotel parking. Use an app to find cheaper parking close by.

Excellent location! Nice, clean, modern "suite" rooms - although I've seen bigger at other Embassies. Very nice breakfast buffet. The only downside is the size of the pool - pretty small and overcrowded. Well I guess we were there on a weekend, but a pool is a must for us, so we'll try a different place next time we're in Chicago.

Stayed here for our visit in Chicago and were very happy with our stay. The room was pretty standard, definitely clean. We only had time to stop at happy hour one night, but I will never complain about the opportunity to get some free drinks. Breakfast was solid, pretty consistent with other Embassy Suites. All of the staff that we interacted with was friendly. If staying in Chicago again, this would be a good option, where I'd consider staying another time.

We stay here each time we come to Chicago. It's in a great location and it's convenient for us when we have to catch shuttle for our conference. There is a restaurant in the hotel and they offer a lot of perks. An indoor pool, fitness center, free breakfast and a managers happy hour. What a treat! The rooms are decent and the service is good here too. You do hear lots of road noise, like anywhere in Chicago but this is our go to spot.

Jose at the front desk was awesome. This hotel is located in the perfect location downtown Chicago. Truly the perfect atmosphere for relaxation and vacation. This hotel was more than we ever expected. And the price was great. Highly recommended
