The Embassy is a delight to visit, I always arrive early so I can walk around and absorb the grace and nostalgia of this wonderful theatre. Service is friendly and professional. The viewing on a big screen and great sound system always adds to the experience. My favourite theatre in Wellington.

Built in 1924, this is one of New Zealand's best theaters. With a capacity of 750, you can consider it as one of the larger venues as well. It is worth visiting for its beautiful interior.

The Grand theatre, for not being an IMAX screen, is quite large and impressive, and while the seating is definitely vintage, and the drinks are always at risk of falling off the non-cup holdered arm rests, it’s still an excellent audio-visual experience. That Sir Peter Jackson debuts his films here should affirm this. My former personal pet peeve —their serving trays that lacked indentations— have been solved, so no more sliding ramikins and condiments. I’ve worn my sauces out on my pants more times than I care to remember but Embassy has fix this for a more secure in-theatre dining experience. Cheers for that. The Deluxe theatres are modern with comfy chairs and excellent PQ and AQ, rounding out the experience. And the plentiful and spacious toilets have ensured my kids know where to take their emergencies when the mood strikes. This is our favorite theatre in town and the one we frequent 95% of the time.

Great place to watch a movie, especially for Lord of the Rings fans. Watching The War of the Rohirrim here was a special experience. The theater’s charm and atmosphere added to the magic. Definitely worth a visit!

The birth of awsome fantasy helping promote indie cinema around the world. Epic stories and primers. New lines Awsome stories including the lord of the rings. Roads that lead to seats I love good stories and movie theaters that house them.

A must-go theatre in the city. Love the cozy and classy ambience which will bring you to a vintage feeling and somehow help enjoy every show. The movie collections are wide and in trend. Staff are really friendly. Just grab some popcorn and enjoy the movie!

Great old theater with a classic atmosphere but well equipped with excellent modern sound and projection. A nice sunny cafe upstairs and cozy, stylish bar downstairs. The main theater is huge with a big screen and at $10 for any ticket it's an amazing deal. I would be a regular if I lived nearby.

Yelp
A great place to see a film in an adult environment. I found I liked the atmosphere which is classy and not full of noisy children

Yelp
The film industry is alive and well in New Zealand. One of the best spots to take in a movie is Wellington's Embassy Theater. The classic theater, built in the 1920's, has been fully updated with comfy seats. You can also order food and drinks to take inside. No need to rush inside the theater because you can reserve seats in advance. The theater was thrust into the spotlight when it hosted the world premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. And hey, if it's good enough for director Peter Jackson, it's certainly good enough for us.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by the Embassy Theater...their classy lobby was the perfect place for a pre-show drink. The food was great as well, although the execution left something to be desired. If you're going to serve people these amazing shrimp tacos to enjoy during their show, you should at least provide some sort of table to put the food on. There I was, trying to follow Jason Bourne as he sprinted through the alleys of Berlin, while streams of lime juice were drizzling down my leg since I was forced to hold the plate in my lap. To be fair, the leather seats were awesomely comfortable and the food was delicious, but I don't think anyone thought about how people were going to eat while sitting in the theater. The Embassy Theater...4 stars for the concept, 1 star for the execution. Will return, but after dinner next time.

Yelp
The grand ol' theatre of Wellington. Helped with the renaissance of classier theatres in Welly (as opposed to your blockbuster multiplexes). It really does feel like a night out after a movie here, especially when it's full. No other cinema in town creates the atmosphere, before of after the movie. The screen in the main cinema is the best in Wellington, with Dolby Atmos audio really creates an intense experience for those big films. The seats aren't the most comfortable in the world so if that's important to you then get premium tickets. The 2 Deluxe cinemas downstairs are very comfy.

Yelp
What a gorgeous classic theater. Great leather seating when you buy premium tickets. Nice to have a glass of wine with your movie as well :)

Yelp
For my second night in Wellington I thought I'd try out the cinema. After going past threading and finding them not that great in their offerings I thought I'd try out the Embassy theatre down the road a bit. As it was likely to be a late session I went to the supermarket and bought some food for the next day and some snacks. I got to the Embassy and after finding out that the normal ticket office was closed headed to the bar down the very elegant and art deco like corridor. The staff behind the bar were lovely and very helpful. Not only did they take my two large bags of shopping and hold them for me in the back room they even took the time to figure out what kind of a drink I would like (not the easiest thing as I wasn't even sure myself!) The cinema (2) had very comfortable chairs and cup/martini glass holders for that all important drink. Prices are reasonable for the drinks and great for the movies, at least compared to Australian prices! I definitely plan on coming back. They have various promotions and deals going so check out their website.

Yelp
I really love this cinema. Great selection of movies. Bar, cafe, amazing ambience. Much more character than the multiplex up the road.
