"Despite a population of less than 5 million, New Zealand has one of the world's most diverse and interesting craft-beer scenes, and many of the country's successful brewers were originally inspired by Richard Emerson in the southern city of Dunedin. In 1993, Emerson fashioned the Bookbinder bitter that was one of the country's original small-batch concoctions, and now the company's expanded range can be tried at its wonderful tasting room and restaurant near Dunedin's waterfront. Look forward to innovative seasonal beers as well—sometimes inspired by the Dunedin musicians and bands found on the legendary Flying Nun record label."

An absolute 💯 amazing experience here. I came to eat at the restaurant for lunch and was impressed with the service, the speed the food came out and the food itself! I ordered the Korean chicken burger which was nice but a little too watery with kimchi, the thrice cooked fries (amazing) and brisket (amazing). The beers are also very nice! There's also a gift store so you can buy tee shirts, caps and beers. I'd highly recommend this place for tourists and locals. It's decently priced too especially given the quality of the food which I'd say was the best food in the South Island.

Looking for a place for a late lunch before penguins and could not have guess better! Food was very good and atmosphere was superb, excellent beer. I don’t drink alcohol so I have lemon, Lime and bitters fizz. My periperi chicken was very good and tasty. I stole the best chips ever from my husband burger side!

Great beer, amazing service and friendly staff. We dropped in for the Mo-Party while down visiting from Wellington. The buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese dip were divine. Seriously....so good. Would definitely return. Thanks team! 😁

Google
Super cool brewery. Did the tour and the flight of 6 beers at the end that was included with the tour was fantastic. The service was great and the food was even better than I'd expected. The ribs had such a good sauce on them and the goat cheese starter was delicious!!! Everything we ate was good and all the beers were good too. All around great experience. Would definitely go back.

We booked a tasting flight, from the moment we walked into the tap room the atmosphere was electric. Beautifully laid out and the decor was well thought out and transported you into another world. Our host taking us through the tasting flight was knowledgeable, we asked a lot of questions and she was able to answer them all and had an engaging personality. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The beers were fantastic and the atmosphere continued as more and more people rolled in. Didn’t try any food, but we could see the quality matched their service from scanning plated food coming out. Excellent facilities and they even had awesome merch. Will be back again and again!!

We really enjoyed this brewery tour. It was fun, engaging, and very informative. The different steps of the brewing process were explained in a clear and vivid way, and we even got to taste the beer at various stages of production. Our guide, a French guy, did an excellent job. He explained everything with enthusiasm and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We honestly think this tour is better than the one at Speights. Highly recommended.

The food here is amazing. Some really nice options from your classic burgers to some more experimental dishes. The chicken burger had beautiful fried chicken with a great balance of crispy coating and lovely moist chicken. The goats' cheese croquettes are a must-have if you love cheese. The atmosphere is really good as it combines a micro brewery feel with an amazing variety of beers and a relaxed restaurant serving delicious food. It can get pretty busy, so if you are looking for food, I would recommend booking a table in advance

Google
Has great beer, service and friendly staff but as for the food it wasn't great. The spuid was very bland. I would not recommend the beef burger or the brisket main. The burger patty was dry like they pre cook it and keep in a warmer. As for the brisket I couldn't eat it because it was so dry also. It must of been a couple of days old and reheated.

Yelp
Food tasted good but price was insane. We prefer Speights Ale house for similar experience (better bang for your buck). The Bog has a steak dish way cheaper and more to it (also with different topping options). Went for the steak as had heard lots of good things and we were craving a steak. We bought two Ribeye meals, a chicken and chips kids meal, poutine chips, Buffalo wings and bread and hummus dish $140. Ate the lot easily. Steak was good, but there were no options for sauce or gravies on top of the steak, you get chips with it, that's all. Service was very friendly. The location was nice, confortable and warm. While it seems to be really popular, kai tasted good, we will definitely choose other places to eat over Emersons.

Yelp
I expected lot more but I was underwhelmed by Emerson's. Even though it was a balmy Friday evening, the place was relatively quiet. As expected, there was an impressive selection of beers on offer. I went with the Roughy which was a bit more 'hoppy' than I like but that's not their fault for sure. My venison burger was only ok, hardly memorable but was plentiful and adequate for the occasion. All in all, a less than stellar experience. Not bad, just not particularly good.

Yelp
Fantastic place! Food was awesome and Hubby said it was the best beer he's had in New Zealand. Friendly service too. We started with the Poutine, which was so hot and fresh, then shared the fish and chips. Lightest batter ever, just delicious, and the fries were to die for. Seriously good food. Nice outdoor patio, but plenty of seating inside too. If you are in the area and fancy some great food, give this place a try. So glad that WE did!

Yelp
Possibly the best beer in New Zealand. Very knowledgeable and kind staff. Beer is for those with a champagne budget. Poutine from the kitchen is awesome. Comfy chairs and lovely terrace.
