"Then, the California Zephyr, which travels through the Rocky Mountains and the American West, ending in Emeryville, CA, though she disembarked in Sacramento. By the time she boarded the California Zephyr, Nguyen had hit her stride. The name of the train itself meant she was that much closer to her new home. But first, a two-and-a-half day journey that took her across the rest of the western U.S. She stayed in a Superliner Bedroom on the Zephyr, which is a bit more spacious, since it includes a bed, chair, and in-room bathroom, with both a toilet and private shower. Perhaps most importantly, this train provides stunning views of the Rockies and Sierra Nevadas." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Very big, very spacious. I wished they had coffee, snacks, and hot food dispensing machines for the other hours when the coffee was closed. Would also be nicer if the chairs they have with the outlets ACTUALLY were plugged into a power source for those of us that need to plug and charge our devices. Otherwise, nice staff.

The starting point of California Zephyr is a compact station in Emeryville, located 15 min away from downtown in San Francisco. The officers here are very friendly and helpful. They have the ticket printer at station but the e-ticket is good enough to board

I had a good time boarding the Coast Starlight from Emeryville. Large station and the staff gave direct instructions. Now I will say that some may find the tone staff “rude and hostile” but I didn’t mind the straight forward delivery.

Got to the station at 530am. had to wait till 6am for the doors to be unlocked. you MUST GET A CODE TO USE THE RESTROOM! Ask the information desk, they'll happily give it to you.

Fun 19th century travel. Try it you will love it. Prepare for slow travel.and timeliness that don't mean anything. They are approx at best.

I have been in many, many stations. This one is clean and well organized. Because it is in California, they have trains coming and going all the time. The staff are very helpful. I will say the PA system is the most ridiculous one I have ever heard. 😂. It sounds just like Charlie Brown's teacher. 🤣 Maybe just turn the volume down.... It's still a great station.

Clean and safe. Employees are helpful. The station is large and well maintained. Near the tracks, an employee coordinates traffic and steers travelers around. Identifying the right train to board can be confusing as announcements may sound unclear through the speakers so you have to pay extra attention (and rely on the display board). Trains are not identified either so you pretty much just have to rely on selecting the right track, at the right time, going in the right direction and for employee guidance. The Zephyr train boards quite clearly but other trains stop for about 1 minute like an underground train so best to be prepared. A safe, well-organized station. Would return there any time.
