"A Cheese Route in Bern's Backyard After an early morning breakfast at my hotel in Bern, I walked about five minutes to the train station for a day trip to Emmental . Once there, our first stop was the Emmentaler Schaukäserei show dairy, where I learned the process of how certain cheeses are made. For example, the Küherstock cheese dairy from 1741 can still be produced over an open fire. Then it was time to hop on our bikes and begin our E-Bike tour through the region. We opted for electric bikes, which really come in handy when you're headed up a hill or if you need a little extra push, literally! If you're never ridden an electric bike, it might take some getting used to but after a few minutes testing out the gears, it begins to feel like second nature. There's also a mobile app that goes with the tour and it's really easy to download. Plus, it runs regardless of whether you have a Wi-Fi connection. Instead, it uses a GPS system to track one's location, thus providing points of interest along the way. The highlights of the route are the visit of the Show Cheese Dairy in Affoltern, the Jeremias Gotthelf museum in Lützelflüh and the castle of Burgdorf. All in all, it's the perfect day trip from Bern, especially for foodies. By Megan Eileen McDonough"

We were staying in the Emmental region for vacation and saw this on the map with good reviews so came here to see cheese. Even though we looked at their website we didn’t know much about their cheese tour- which turned out to be a Disney World like experience where you go from room to room with automated lighting and narration - it was a lot of fun. And at the end you get to see their wheels of cheese and try a few different ages of their signature cheese. We bought more in their store and left for home. There is certainly more to see and do but we came near the end of the day. Certainly recommend!

We enjoyed the King's Way tour. We bought our tickets online and were able to do the self guided tour in English. The immersive experience was quite fun. At the end, we enjoyed tasting different aged cheese.

Really enjoyed the King's self guided tour and sleeping overnight in a barrel! Was lovely to wake up and enjoy the views over breakfast. Staff super accommodating and friendly ! Would love to return for the cream cheese making workshop and a guided tour of the factory.

Super great tour, very kid friendly, interactive, fun, and informative. Best self guided food tour for kids I have ever seen. Very well designed and varied. Cheese was great, restaurant was fabulous and the playground was great right next to the restaurant. My kids have been begging to go back!

Swiss museums don’t disappoint and this one is no different. Fun day out, beautiful scenery, and informative.

Very nice cheese dairy, especially the kings path self guided tour was surprisingly good. It consists of multiple nicely designed installations accompanied by the story of Emmental cheese as an audio book. I expected a self guided tour to be much less interesting so it was a pleasant surprise.

Had the opportunity to visit this place, totally amazing. Lots of things to buy, amazing cheese! For pinoys like me who are not really people who grew up snacking cheese, the 4-8 months aged cheese were tasty for me. The older ones, not so much. 🤣 but overall great experience.

Yelp
This was my first time at this Cheese heaven! if you are a cheese-head, this is the place! All Cheese connoisseurs are welcome! I have never seen so many varieties of cheese! I heard there are around 450 different types of cheese in Switzerland. This place had most of them I think. The price for standards was considered quite normal but for where I come from this place seemed expensive! They even showed the making of cheese which was very interesting. The process is very hygienic and enlightening! There was special cheese for the Swiss specialty, Fondue, and Swiss raclette. There was also touristy stuff which makes this place even more interesting. This place is certainly out of the way of the proverbial tourist lane. I highly recommend this place and was glad I came and hope to be back again someday soon! Thank you for the Schweiz memories!

Yelp
We spotted this place in our tour book. So we came to have a cheese tour. 45 minute self-guided tour. They also have a little shop & a Very nice restaurant. We ordered a salad and a potato, ham, egg and cheese something. It was so delicious. The price is moderate. Not a bad value for what we received. Would come back for seconds. Recommend you stop in.

Yelp
Cheese production showcasing Emmental cheese, yummy! There is no entrance fee but one pays for making your own cheese and cheese degustation (tasting). The price for the activities are around chf 7-10. We only pop by to see the modern and traditional cheese making and also had our lunch at the restaurant premise. The staff working at there are so friendly especially the herdman's hut where he explains to us about cheese production in old times. The restaurant use the cheese produces on the premise and they taste so good in the fondue meal we ordered. One can spend about 1-2 hours. We arrived there by car and no issue on getting a parking spot as it is self paid parking. This is a child friendly place, kids can enjoy petting "zoo" and playground. There is also a cheese shop where you can try some cheese before purchase. I would really recommend this cheese factory, it is one of the best I have ever been!
