When I was still living in NYC, this casino was not in existence, well at least to my knowledge it was not. I went to graduate school in Dobbs Ferry so I passed by here a lot. My mom likes to play slots so this was way more convenient than AC or Mohegan.
The first time I visited was with my mother and now husband on Christmas evening years ago. It was great because the casino was dead but that is when they closed a lot earlier than they do now. I might have visited with both my parents a time or two in between but I cannot remember. My last two trips, I did visit.
Since it has be eons since I have been here, it was a little overwhelming. I honestly did not recall this place being so massive! I mean I have heard my parents talk about it but there is so much to take in here. There is a food court, a couple of restaurants, a couple of bars, a racetrack, and of course the abundance of slot machines.
The first visit this year we did not do so great on the slots. We ate whatever little was left at the food court, which was not incredibly impressive. The food court has pizza, fried foods, Chinese, a deli, frozen yogurt, and several drink options. My mother went to use her points to pay for the food and it barely covered the cost. For my most recent trip, I had a lot of food comps to use. My mom had a crazy amount to use as well. Unfortunately, the company meal coupons expire, you cannot use it to purchase alcohol, and you have to use everything at once.
We were not doing well before the food court and mom decided to try again after eating. We sat next to each other at the same machines and did very well. This is very unusual lol. Hubs and I were leaving the next morning via driving so we were trying to leave not so late but we were winning lol.
The parking lot is massive but there are shuttles to drive you from stations to the door of the casino. My mom has a handicapped plaque but unfortunately, there has never been any spots. And to top that off, these people create an imaginary waiting lane for a spot to open. Very strange and stupid. Lol we actually parked, waited for the shuttle, and arrived at the door before the "first car on line" found a spot.
Drink prices are ridiculous. If you want a soda or water, you have to pay for it! C'mon! They are definitely NOT hurting from money loss lol. A wine is $7. The servers walk around with drinks already on their tray. That is not a bad idea since I'm used to waiting for a server, ordering the drink, and then waiting again for it to arrive. I would rather go to AC but maybe more for the nostalgia and table games.
