How much is it worth for a view?
I find 179 Euros to be too much money for a bed, a bath, and a TV. Style counts, and they got that.
Oh, what happens when style is poorly constructed? What is the price of a 6 foot piece of lumber that falls from above the bathroom doorway and skims my wife as she opens the sliding door? (There was a piece of MDF faced with the white plastic that covered the door slider hardware. It had a half-inch wide strip that was one quarter inch thick through which 7 screws were aimed at the MDF above. 5 of the screws were into nothing.)
That piece of cheap MDF probably weighed 10 lbs. Falling from about 8 feet high. What does that feel like?
Maybe I should have asked the manager who came up to view this to volunteer to find out. As we did not want to throw a fit or be unreasonable, we did not put on any sort of histrionics; we merely showed her the result and the cause.
She did her best imitation of a Hollywood producerette, "I am SOOOOOOOO SORRRRRRRRRRY." In German, to my German wife.
Oh, I see. This shoddy construction was not merely unsightly, it was dangerous. We were not in the Wild West of China or some 3rd World country. We were in Hamburg, Germany watching money float by in large ships. If this hotel does not feel inclined to comp our over-priced (in my opinion) room while begging for forgiveness and silence, I DO feel inclined to open my virtual mouth in order to give my opinion of their so white, modern, chic, and shoddy hotel.
If you want to pay high prices, best to keep it only to their cocktails in the bar. After all, it has a nice view.
