The skyview rooms are marvelous. Service seems great even tho i only spent one night there. The cocktail bar have a beautiful view and seems very nice. The room couldn't be more perfect. The views of the city and harbor are awesome. Taking a bath while enjoying such view is a pleasure.

A nice sleek hotel with helpful and kind staff. They were able to help with any questions and can call a taxi if you need one. The room was clean and nice but always hot, had to have the small window open for air. The outside wall is all glass so you get a great view but probably a lot of solar heat. Wanted to try their restaurant, said they were open till 11pm , went around 9:30 but the kitchen was closed. Everything around the hotel closes around 10 except the bars which were way too loud. Would stay there again. A nice hotel with great views.

Mixed reviews on this one. Rooms are nice as well as the overall look of the hotel. It’s close to the ferry which is handy for work.|It’s also next to the reaperbahn so be careful in this area. |The reason I give it a 3 is because I put the do not disturb sign on my door, and when I came back there were 2 cleaners inside. Ultimately I told them no need for cleaning but it’s only after I realised one of my jumpers was missing. Shame.

Friendly and attentive staff. Location is OK, 5 minute walk to the reeperbahn and 5 minute walk to the waterfront/elbe tunnel. Rooftop bar is very nice but always extremely busy.

Twice in a row, room cars did not work and had to go down. Then I am intoragated if I keep my cars next to my phone! If this is so important, write it on the card, rather than getting an ad of a drink

I shouldn't generalize it but I found the staff at Empire riverside hotel rude They don't have basic amenities like coffee machine or even a phone to connect to the reception for every single thing you have to come to reception to ask I asked for a late check out as my husband was there for a conference they asked me to pay 40 euros for check out till 2 and 50 euros if i check out till 3 and they had blocked my card with a sum as guarantee.still i found the reception staff standing at my door that before 3 stating that I did not vacate my room yet I told him that I was told that I could pay 50 euros and extend my stay till 3 and it's not 3 yet I was forced to vacate the room even after paying for the late check out Their reception staff does not deserve to be in hospitality industry

Unacceptable treatment — especially for a hotel of this standing I suffered from food poisoning after dining at the hotel restaurant and was left without any assistance. Traveling alone and too weak to get up, I called reception multiple times — no help. I ended up going down in my bathrobe, holding a basin. At night, the staff simply told me: “I’m alone, I can’t do anything.” No support. No solution. For a hotel of this standard, this is simply unacceptable — especially when it comes to health and safety

Today, Sunday, May 11th 2025, a Spanish friend and I went to the bar „Skyline Bar 20 up“ at the Empire Riverside Hotel in Hamburg for a cocktail. The doormen’s told me I couldn't get in because I was wearing a sleeveless sweater, and my friends because he was wearing a leather jacket. I have no objection if the place has a dress code, where a man must wear a blazer and shirt. It's in someway a trendy bar with an incredible view of the port of Hamburg. The problem is that everyone who entered before us looked like typical tourists in jeans, T-shirts, and sneakers—not fashionable at all. I'm a fashion stylist. I know exactly what to wear and how to dress when I’m going somewhere Anyway my question is, what's the difference between a woman wearing a sleeveless top and a man wearing the same? Was this an outfit issue or something more serious like homophobia? Two men going for a drink. My Instagram account stylist_hamburg

Yelp
The Empire Riverside Hotel offers one of the most spectacular views over Hamburg and the Hamburg harbor. The windows in the rooms reaching from floor to ceiling allow a view which is unbeatable actually. The hotel has a cosmopolitan flair. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the bathroom is large and well equipped. The view from the "20up" bar in the 20th Floor by day and by night is a fantastic experience. We had a five-course dinner in the hotel, which had ups and downs, all in all it was ok. Another hint: Breakfast is too expensive (20,- EUR), at least if you don't eat much for breakfast. Directly beside the hotel there is a small café where you get an excellent breakfast for about 10, - EUR.

Yelp
This popular hotel with the popular hotel bar has build up a very bad name in a short time. A hotel bar with a door policy is strange, its a hotel bar. But the people working there do not know what they are doing. If it is the goal of the managent to treat guest like shit, then they are doing a fine job. Bad place for good vibes. Dont go.

Yelp
Awesome breakfast buffet. View from rooms is amazing, especially during sun rise and set. Rooms are puristic and very spacy. Sauna and steam bath. Service personnell is a bit distant. Would love more passion ;)

Yelp
As yet I have checked out the hotel's stylish sushi bar twice. I really cannot understand why there's such a big sensation surrounding these premises. a) They don't have as many drinks available as you'd think and b) the sushi isn't of such high quality as their menu / media coverage promises. Okay not that I express myself badly here the food is fine but for these prices (8 pieces for 7.50 or 8.50 euro and a nigeri piece for 2.50 euro) you'd expect something better. Or more authentic. Sashimi was like bathing in a marinade so strong that you couldn't taste anything of the original tuna / salmon. The sushi pieces itself were all right maybe just a tiny little bit boring lacking the real taste of perfect sushi. Nevertheless staff were quick and friendly but quite a bit inexperienced?! It was nice though to have one for the road at the 20up bar on the 20th floor nice view and a bigger selection of booze :)

Yelp
How much is it worth for a view? I find 179 Euros to be too much money for a bed, a bath, and a TV. Style counts, and they got that. Oh, what happens when style is poorly constructed? What is the price of a 6 foot piece of lumber that falls from above the bathroom doorway and skims my wife as she opens the sliding door? (There was a piece of MDF faced with the white plastic that covered the door slider hardware. It had a half-inch wide strip that was one quarter inch thick through which 7 screws were aimed at the MDF above. 5 of the screws were into nothing.) That piece of cheap MDF probably weighed 10 lbs. Falling from about 8 feet high. What does that feel like? Maybe I should have asked the manager who came up to view this to volunteer to find out. As we did not want to throw a fit or be unreasonable, we did not put on any sort of histrionics; we merely showed her the result and the cause. She did her best imitation of a Hollywood producerette, "I am SOOOOOOOO SORRRRRRRRRRY." In German, to my German wife. Oh, I see. This shoddy construction was not merely unsightly, it was dangerous. We were not in the Wild West of China or some 3rd World country. We were in Hamburg, Germany watching money float by in large ships. If this hotel does not feel inclined to comp our over-priced (in my opinion) room while begging for forgiveness and silence, I DO feel inclined to open my virtual mouth in order to give my opinion of their so white, modern, chic, and shoddy hotel. If you want to pay high prices, best to keep it only to their cocktails in the bar. After all, it has a nice view.

Yelp
Loved it stayed for 3 nights, but got virtigo as I was on the 12th Floor with glass on both sides looking at the river, but apart from that this is a grate hotel. Try the bar on the the top floor if you are visiting Hamburg though, one of the best bars I have been in.
