This is a luxury hotel with a good location close to the river. Upon entering the hotel you are struck by the dark, gloomy decor of the lobby. The following amenities common to many non-luxury hotels are missing: coffee/tea maker, pen and note paper, no mini fridge, soap only in dispensers, and no lotion. While the bed was good the room was too warm and there was no way turn turn down the room temperature. The room itself which had floor to ceiling windows on two sides was bright but the furnishings were bland. Breakfast was available at 29 Euros ($31) which seemed overpriced. The room was clean.

The hotel is located in an excellent area for exploring the city and is conveniently close to the river. However, if you're travelling with children, being mindful is essential, as the street behind the hotel may not be ideal for younger guests. The hotel's sky bar is iconic, but the prices for drinks were relatively high.||The lobby and restaurant of the hotel are impressively stylish. The staff members are generally polite and professional, although there were instances where the receptionist was slightly rude.||The room itself was very nice, but it's worth noting that the beds consisted of two single mattresses pushed together, and there were two single bed quilts.

Location: on the river walk to the restaurants on the river and St Pauli. 16 min walk to the center and the lake. Rooms: comfortable. Lighting is good. The bathroom shower very strong. They provide 2 bathrobes and slippers. This is a nice touch for a 4 star hotel. Service: very robotic check in. No information volunteered. Breakfast: absolutely fabulous breakfast. Really great for a European hotel. More choices than many hotels. Uncountable of choices of bread, fish, meats, cheeses, fruit, yoghurts (at least 5 varieties) eggs. They have the best scrambled eggs I have had.

The service is an absolute embarrassment. We arrived close to midnight with our 7 month old daughter. Of course we had booked a room including a crib in advance and had even double checked via phone a few hours prior to our arrival. But the hotel still managed to not put a crib in our room and even told me that there was no possibility to get one this late (we arrived around midnight with a very tired baby). Our request to have a room on a higher level was also ignored. Shockingly unprofessional. Stay away from this hotel.

My stay at the Empire Riverside Hotel in June was a regrettable experience. Despite the pleasant weather outside, with temperatures around 65 degrees, my room was unbearably hot, reaching a stifling 77 degrees inside. This made it extremely uncomfortable to relax or get a good night's sleep.|The most frustrating part of my stay was the front desk staff. They were completely indifferent to all customers, showing no concern or urgency when addressing our issues. When I approached them about the air conditioning problem, they were totally useless, offering no solutions or assistance. Their lack of responsiveness and care was deeply disappointing.|Overall, my stay at the Empire Riverside Hotel was far from satisfactory. The combination of an uncomfortably hot room and indifferent, unhelpful staff made it a place I would not recommend to anyone. There are certainly better options available where guests are treated with respect and their comfort is a priority.

paying an average of USD $300+ per night, I expected a bit more. Pro: front desk staff was generally friendly! Cons: -property is dated...room was spacious but everything was OLD and a piece of the shower actually broke. -there are 3 bars/restaurants in the hotel, and none of them have boxes for takeaway? instead, the bartender told me I could carry my own plate of unfinished sushi back up to my hotel room LOL. would hate to think what would happen if I wasn't a hotel guest... -bartenders, servers and even the sushi chef were constantly coughing and sneezing while preparing food/drinks WITHOUT washing hands. -sliding glass doors at entrance to the hotel don't work well. this hotel is worth maybe USD $200 at its best...avoid otherwise.

A few issues with this hotel and mainly for this price I would expect more. There is not tea or coffee in the room. The hotel food and drink is very expensive. There was no dining options on a Monday night! This is a large hotel and not providing food for guests is odd. Sushi you can get but I am not a fan and there are no other options. The public areas are dark, I found it hard to see or enjoy the company of others in such a dark place. The front doors are hot and miss if they open, you can be left standing in the rain and cold for a while! The shower set up means the bathroom floor is always wet after using it. The beds are weird and have the smallest duvet covers and pillows. I’m not the plus the rooms are large and well soundproofed.

2024. Horrendous stay with a 200€ price tag per night. Someone who worked here opened our room at 9AM on our check-out day without knocking, even though check-out is at 11AM. When I left the bathroom to check, there was no cleaning cart in front of the door. Made me feel uneasy about my belongings. There better and safer options in Hamburg. Most expensive rooms have bad view. Amenities look cheap. Dark room.
