When I first moved to Singapore I was pretty surprised to see the craft cocktail scene JUST starting to heat up. After all, craft cocktails had been going strong in the US for years and years, so it was like going back in time. Nonetheless, when I heard Employees Only was making its way to town, I was definitely excited, as I had been to the NY location, and I knew without a doubt it was going to be done well. I was right.
I've been to Employees Only twice, once on a date, and once with a friend. The first time was packed wall to wall with young pretty something expats and locals on dates, groups, and trying to hit the town. The place is trendy no doubt, and the ever so handsome bartenders def. know what they are doing, which I appreciate. The second time was a little strange, as a mid 30 something I was the youngest person there, which I didn't mind, as that rarely happens in Singapore. The music is always on point, and either way, the vibe is cool. As far as the cocktails go, yes, they are expensive, but what in Singapore isn't. I've had one of the ginger smash, excellent, some champagne cocktail I believe, and a Manhattan, which was easily one of the best I've had. They also have food which I wasn't aware of, so perhaps next time I'll try dinner. Def. a nice date place, or stop in for a drink.
