This afternoon, I returned to The Lakes National Park in Loch Sport and explored the Grass Tree Track, Boobialla Track, Emu Bight Camping Area and Lake Victoria Track. It was a partly sunny day with moderate winds and a top of 14 degrees. Driving between Sale and Loch Sport, I was a little worried about how the weather was going to pan out this afternoon. There was some light drizzle mixed with partly cloudy skies and 29km/h Westerly winds. Certainly not the forecast I was hoping for. Thankfully, it wasn't quite as bad as it could have been. Considering the National Park has lots of dense vegetation from Old Man Banksias to Coastal Tea Tree, these acted as a barrier against the winds. I parked my car near the Lake Reeve Lookout Tower and walked down towards the point where Grass Tree Track begins. Grass Tree Track is very much a continuation of the Tea Tree Track. The main difference comes about a kilometer or so in when there's an abundance of Austral Grass Trees mixed in with the bushland vegetation. There's also some hilly sections, a few curved parts and the terrain becomes more sand based. At the end of the Grass Tree Track, I reached a junction with Boobialla Track to the left and Emu Bight to the right. The Boobialla Track is very short and leads to a foreshore looking out over Lake Victoria. I spotted a group of Black Swans on the water here. A short walk back leads you to the Emu Bight Camping Area. There are many sites here to choose from (each numbered) plus a fireplace area in the middle and several picnic tables. There's also a couple of short tracks that leads you to Lake Victoria. These sites need to be booked in advance as noted on the signage and information board. I decided to head back to my car along Lake Victoria Track which then joins up with Lake Reeve Track. This is how you would access Emu Bight via 2WD or 4WD. It's reasonably flat with only some mild hills. Overall, even with the moderately gusty winds, I still really enjoyed this visit to The Lakes National Park. I'm keen to spend more time at Emu Bight on my next trip here.

Overall, Emu Bight Camping Ground is a great place to relax and unwind in nature. The campground is well-maintained and offers a peaceful retreat for visitors. The drop toilets and couple of fireplaces are a nice touch, and the ample space in each numbered campsite provides a comfortable space. The great breeze and whooshing waves sound from the nearby lake beach make for a relaxing atmosphere, and the sunset views are simply breathtaking. I would definitely recommend Emu Bight Camping Ground to anyone looking for a quiet camping experience. Not faced mosquitoes problem as most of the reviews says.. probably we were there in lucky windy days. 6KM Gravel road to access the site. Still 2WD do the job. A BP petrol station is 6KM away they got all the supplies almost. Nearest showers we found at Golden Beach.

I really enjoyed our experience camping here at emu bight. Arriving here was no problem, however the gravel road you take is extremely rough going there, leaving was abit smoother. On the map it looked big and spread out but in reality everything was pretty close. Walking a minute from my campsite to the loo was pretty cool. I wished there were a bit more firepits as theres only 2 but with or without a fire going. We still enjoyed our time :) Warning if you do go swimming, I do recommend wearing swimming shoes. There are a lot of mozzies there, we found bushmans heavy duty worked magic. And the bullants there were harmless but still wear shoes when you leave your tent (barefoot we don't recommend). We can not wait to go back and hopefully this time skippy our kangaroo will stay a bit. All in all our camp trip was well worth it. Oh, each campsite is numbered which we found pretty awesome too.

Amazing secluded spot if you don't mind having zero services, minimal phone coverage and no amenities other than a drop toilet.

If you dont mind 6km rough gravel road before entry, excessive ants and mosquitos, no proper beach, 4 toilets to share for all sites- then its quite nice place. Nowhere to drop your garbage as well. Want beach? Lead to paradise beach or close by surf beach. Not too many firepits to share as well. Good privacy though. Not too much wildlife. Only butterflies and kind of cookapurras. Not going again, sorry! Beach photos are from Paradise Beach.

Nice drive through gravel road to get to the campground. Unpowered w/ drop toilets was a good change in scenery for a city boy like me. Access to the "beach" although when I went, it was months after the fires which evidently had an affect on the water colour (a bit orangey). Also you may need swim shoes to swim but the lake is more ideal for kayaking/fishing. It could do with a few more firepits because 2 for the 18 or so campsites makes it a bit hard. And insect repellent is a MUST because the mozzies are pretty savage. Also the presence in wildlife was cool, I had a kangaroo at my tent door. He just said hi and hopped away.

Beautiful remote campsite. Book through Parks Victoria.

It’s an isolated place between the ocean and lake in Loch Sport, Gippsland. Pros: - Large campsite areas, especially the site no. 1 - 10-15 minutes drive to ninety miles beach (follow road signs and not the Google) - Wood fire BBQs (This experience is just great) - There is a BP petrol station with almost all groceries and camping accessories (15minutes drive) - Witness very beautiful sunset on lake Victoria (2-5 minutes walk) - very quiet and peaceful - Kangaroos Cons: - No drinking water (Zero, Null) - Lots and lots of mosquitoes and they bite. This is common to all beachside camping, I believe.Sprays don’t work, bring roll-ons or creams. - 5 kms gravel road with lot of uneven sections or potholes. - Unpowered sites only Tips: - Avoid campsites near toilet like 5,6 or 7 and rather go for sites near BBQ like 1,2,3 as the smoke will blow away all mosquitoes. - Mosquito repellent creams - BYO water - Stop your car near lookout and you will view very beautiful lake and forest.
