En Route Hostel

the staff was so wonderful, i got into my room much earlier than most hostels allow and i could stay much later in the morning. so clean, very modern. i felt very safe with the keypad codes on the front door, each room and my luggage locker.

Comfortable and social hostel in a great location I stayed in the 20-bed dorm and was surprised by how spacious it felt — I could actually stand up in my bunk! Each bed had curtains and a personal light, which gave some privacy even in a big shared room. The location is also great, around 15 minutes walking from the Old Town. Close enough to explore easily, but far enough for a quieter sleep. The showers were clean, separated, and always had hot water — big plus. One small downside: the lockers beep loudly when you enter the code, which can be annoying if people are trying to sleep. Also, there was one guest who kept talking loudly on the phone and making noise, also always drying his underwear on my stairs, but that’s just bad luck — not the hostel’s fault. I didn’t use the kitchen, but it looked clean and had what you’d need. The atmosphere was friendly — I even went out one evening with some people I met there, which made the experience even better. Would recommend if you’re looking for a mix of comfort, location, and a social vibe.

This was my first time staying in a hostel, and personally I wouldn’t do it again. This hostel was a very welcoming place! It just didn’t feel very clean - especially in the bathrooms! The hostel itself was very hard to find… there were building works going on which apparently have been going on for over a year now. I feel as though the hostel should place signs pointing to where it is. The hostel was also located in a place which didn’t feel so safe. But the hostel itself felt very safe, which is a positive. There was a Tommys supermarket just next to the hostel which came in very handy for breakfasts. Overall, I personally wouldn’t stay here again, but I would recommend for people to have a short stay of 1-2 nights and use it as just a place to sleep shower and prepare to go to the next destination.

Overall a good stay. Central to Split centre and beaches, fairly quiet at night. However when booking direct with the hostel there was no indication of required city taxes which led to the price seeming misleading. I would recommend using Booking or similar sights when booking to avoid confusion.

+: bed curtain for privacy, spacious rooms, relatively comfortable beds, affordable, good kitchen facilities, walkable to old town, big locker, luggage storage, close to supermarkets -: bathroom/toilet smell isn't pleasant as there is no window... Wifi is bad in the room, can't charge your devices in the common area, locker a bit noisy in the evening, slightly outside of old town area.

Super nice place! Great vibes inside! Staff are pleasant. The outside is super weird and feels abandoned but there are stores and stuff all around it

Very clean hostel. Dorm beds are comfortable and very private. Good showers and bathrooms, Comfortable chill area and good kitchen for cooking. I had no complaints

Despite what some reviews have said, my stay at En Route was really lovely. Don't let the pictures of the location scare you as it's only a 10-15 minute walk to the closest beach and to the center of Old Town and never felt unsafe. We would go out late at night and come back at 3/4am and never had any issues, as the walk back is quite nice through residential streets and no one loiters in the area of the hostel despite the looks of it. This has also been the cleanest hostel I've stayed in! Lots of counter space in the bathrooms, paper towels (a plus in hostels), and hooks by every mirror and bed, which I appreciated. The showers are really spacious and I never had any issues with hot water, although there is nowhere to place your clothes (hooks would be useful). The beds are the best part as they're quite spacious and kept clean and come with curtains that feels like a luxury to have in a hostel. You also don't feel your bunkmate moving in the bed above or below you, which is a huge plus as someone who's a light sleeper. Another con is the new locks on the lockers are really loud and can cause some issues, especially at night, but the lockers are really spacious and secure. The hostel can have a social atmosphere depending on the vibe of the guests staying. It's easy to socialize as there's one big common area to hangout in, but you do need to put in the effort if you want to meet people!
