All I can say is wow!!! This park is truly amazing. It has everything....and I mean everything. This place is massive, spanning over 220 acres and has two parts. It was created in 1934, but looks relatively new and updated. The park has tons of free parking available between a couple of lots.
On one side of the park you will find an awesome sports complex with 8 tennis courts, 4 full basketball courts, two sand volleyball courts, 4 pickle ball courts, two cement volleyball courts, a golf course, and a seasonal pool. The facilities over there are are very nice and many places would charge admission to play on similar quality courts.
This side of the park also has a playground area that has a wall around it to keep the little ones in and is on a bed of wood chips. There is not much equipment over there. It only has a frog to climb on and a jungle gym with slides, bridges and monkey bars. The equipment appears to have been around for a while, but is well maintained. There is another playground area over here as well, for older kids. This area has a bank on traditional/toddler swings, a track ride, and rock structures and ropes to climb on. This equipment is a little vintage, like in the other playground area, but still in great shape.
There is also a lighted multi use field with a. backstop and a whole lot of green space that can be used for a game of catch, playing football, soccer, having a picnic or flying a kite. There are also some picnic tables sprinkled in over the vast space.
You will also an outdoor workout area out there with equipment that include a chest/shoulder press and an elliptical machine.
The other half of the park is more for the nature lovers. Here is where you will find its marvelous lagoon. It is very picturesque with bridges and ducks and allows opportunity to fish.
Over on this side there is another playground area with a large jungle gym with a bunch of slides, a bridge, and monkey bars.
I liked the area's picnic tables on the cement slab with the grills right next to them. There are also two shelters with picnic tables under them and grills just outside.
The Park has an area called a Garden of Dreams, an area created by student from the Leadership Alliance Program and is a shaded, cleared out space with rocks and picnic tables.
A large portion of this side of the park is Enchanted Island, an amusement park with rides, games, concessions, and a miniature train ride. It was closed when I was there, but looked nice.
Both sides of the park has restroom facilities and trails to hike, walk or jog. They are easily navigated and clear.
All in all this park is the total package. You can easily spend a half a day here. They have set the bar of what a park should be. It is well maintained and landscaped. which I can only imagine what it takes to upkeep it given its size. This is a destination park by far and I highly recommend checking this place out.
