Their brunch is absolutely amazing! I would definitely recommend the biscuit sandwiches - the fried chicken and pork belly biscuit sandwiches were amazing. Don't forget to pick up a donut as well - had the bacon butterscotch donut and loved it. However, I was pretty unimpressed by the coffee/espresso drinks and thought they were pretty watered down.

I visited Endgrain for brunch today and really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. It's a neighborhood restaurant in Roscoe Village with great quality food. I had the fried chicken biscuit sandwich, which came highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. The biscuit was flaky and delicious, and not too greasy or heavy. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned. The trout biscuit sandwich did not sound good from the menu description, but it was surprisingly good with a nice balance of flavors - they had a slaw on the sandwich that added a unique touch of to the flavor profile. My only complaint is the portion sizes - they are much smaller than I would have liked. I didn't leave hungry, but I definitely could have eaten more - probably good I didn't though because I'm sure that the biscuit sandwiches are not low-calorie meals. Not to mention that I had the amazing gourmet donuts, so I probably didn't need a larger portion size…but it was so tasty that I wanted more... They are known for their gourmet donuts, so I tried the vanilla bourbon donut and also tasted the german chocolate "dough-skit" which is like a doughnut/biscuit hybrid. (I am loving the hybrid desserts, by the way. First the cronut (croissant/donut) and now the "dough-skit" - doughnut/biscuit). The dough-skit could have used some pecans to really make the german chocolate effect come to life, but they were very good. The other thing I liked is that it was easy to get in there on a Saturday morning. I called at 11:30 am and made a brunch reservation for noon, and we were seated as soon as we arrived. The restaurant had a good amount of people - not too crowded, but crowded enough to make you feel comfortable that the food tastes good. If I were in the area, I would definitely go back.

Coming in for brunch with a toddler, we weren't sure what to expect. Seeing there were other kids at this (relatively) early hour, we were relieved. The menu skews to more innovative than traditional, but the biscuits, and by extension the breakfast sandwiches, are the star here. They were also perfect to satiate a fussy child. While the pancakes/french toast were good, there are better options for the sweet brunch crowd. The bottom-less cup of coffee was certainly welcome. All in all, a great option for brunch in Roscoe Village.

Endgrain is a great addition to the Northcenter neighborhood. Set on a corner, its interior is a mix of low-slung chairs and tables on one side, and a bar on the other side. We went for brunch, and were delighted to see biscuit sandwiches. The pork belly on my sandwich was delicious, but overall the entree was missing a crisp addition (carrot? just blanched kale?). An appetizer of roasted potatoes and cheese was divine. Our server was very friendly and accommodating, and food came out quickly (surprising for a Saturday morning) I would definitely check this place out again, possibly for drinks.

Visited Endgrain on their first day open. I had the pork belly sandwich, my companions had the pork and kimchi pie and we all shared each of Enoch's Doughnuts on offer. The butterscotch bacon doughnut was our favorite! The biscuit for the pork belly sandwich tasted like it was made out of butter and love, which is a very good thing for me. When I took a bite, the soft egg yolk ran and made it even more lovely. I'm very much looking forward to returning!

I stopped by for a quick breakfast on a Friday morning and everything was great. I ended up going for the biscuits and gravy which combines a buttery flaky biscuit with a rich gravy and crisp onion and fried kale for a nice touch of texture. I also got a couple of doughnuts to go but I have to admit the German Chocolate was the better of the two.

I'm a huge fan of brunch, so when this place was suggested, I had to go. and omg, the biscuits here rocked my world! We ordered biscuit with eggs and gravy and it was ok, but then that's because the gravy masked the goodness of the biscuit.But we also ordered a pork belly biscuit sandwich, and the biscuit really shine in this one! I asked for hot sauce and was given a homemade sauce with pepper flakes in it, but it was really sweet and was really a downer. We ordered a side of kimchi, and what was brought out was bean sprouts in chili kimchi-like sauce, except it wasn't at all spicy. In the end, we got fully caffeinated and full, but it wasn't too heavy. Service here can be a bit slow. The hostess and server is the same person for the whole restaurant of about 20 table/bar seats. We could see 3 people behind the coffee bar, and a lot of people in the back kitchen, so it seemed unevenly distributed. However, we came at the end of the brunch hour, so the crowd and wait wasn't too bad. If you're a fan of farm-to-table, you'd love that they list all the farm sources of their products on the chalkboard. Also, they serve Columbe coffee which is pretty good. And the donuts looked amazing, but I didn't have room to try it.

Nice little neighborhood spot with lots to offer, but maybe too much, since it's not really sure what it wants to be. Have been for coffee and dinner, with mostly positive results. The quality of Enoch's doughnuts goes without saying, and worth the extra "dough". The La Colombe coffee is good, but walking out 4 bucks lighter for a medium is tough to stomach. Followed up that visit with another for dinner to dine on the much-talked-about fried chicken and biscuits. Didn't disappoint; chicken serving was huge and excellent, and the biscuit was, as advertised, the best I'd ever had. The rest of the table liked their meals but none were wowed. But the doughnuts and chicken are worth your time and money if your waistline can handle it.
