This was my first real encounter with Ayurveda, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place. Hotel Engel Ayupura is exceptional – its architecture, the peaceful setting, and the whole atmosphere feel unique from the moment you arrive. The team is incredibly professional across all areas, whether at reception, in the restaurant, during treatments, or even housekeeping. Everyone is warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making your stay perfect.|I also appreciated the personal touch from the owner, Mrs. Kohler, who stays in close contact with guests through friendly conversations and her evening walk through the restaurant. The onsite Ayurvedic doctor is equally kind and compassionate. I had a small medical issue during my stay, and both helped me immediately and with great care.|The thoughtful details made the experience even more special: Grander water throughout the hotel, the thermos and hot-water bottle in the room, beautifully maintained relaxation areas, sauna, and infrared cabins – and even a small “quiet day” button to wear when you preferred calm and privacy. From the very first moment, it felt like a home away from home.

From the moment I walked into the lobby, I was struck by the sense of calm which pervades throughout this stunning hotel, a cathedral to serenity. I needed a week to reset, detox and have time to myself and the Engel Ayurpura provided all that and more. Carmen Koehler, the wise and wonderful owner who is very present on a day to day basis and has grown up with hospitality in her blood, has assembled a wonderful team around her to share her passion for an Ayurvedic approach to life. The stylish look of the hotel is a delicious mix of Italian design mixed with a Germanic attention to intelligent technical detail such as well marked light switches all in the right places, proper coat hangers, hot water fountains on each floor. The rooms are spacious, ridiculously comfortable and each one has a generous balcony with stunning views. Every detail makes sense - hessian bags for carrying your stuff around the spa area, really soft and comfy towelling robes, a thermos allowing their specially blended teas to be sipped all day. I felt as if I was at home, not in a hotel.|I am a foodie and have always been left a little disappointed with vegan dishes but this time I had a week of truly delicious food produced with great care by Franco who has real flair in combining flavours. I watched the chefs picking the fresh herbs in the grounds and then ate the dishes which had a real yummy factor. Perfectly portioned so that one was never hungry, beautifully served and for sure worthy of their own cook book.|As for the Therapy Centre, my own experience with their medical leader Dr Parth was memorable. A wise and twinkly eyed, softly spoken Goan, Dr Parth gives you an initial assessment after which he creates a tailor made programme for you, both in terms of diet and life style. He is a true visionary who bothers to take the time to really understand what you are about and he is a very passionate advocate for the Ayurvedic practice. You feel he cares and his final assessment at the end of your stay is important. He has gathered, for the most part, an exceptional team around him, one of whom gave me the best massage I have ever had in my life. In addition, guests are encouraged to attend the daily yoga and meditation sessions run by the excellent Sean in his beautiful wooden studio, make use of their extensive spa facilities and best of all, use the nicest outdoor hotel swimming pool ever where I feasted on the mesmerising view of the majestic Dolomites.|If I could, I would go back every year, an annual pilgrimage to my Cathedral of Serenity. Bravo team.

Just got back from an incredible 4 night stay. The hotel is beautiful, they have created a really relaxing and calming hotel, my room was spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The Ayurvedic consultation with Dr Parth was really interesting and he picked up on the areas I was struggling with and made some suggestions for foods to avoid and lifestyle changes. I loved the approach to personalised meal times (the food was delicious) and the treatments, yoga and meditations left me feeling truly relaxed. Next time I will stay for longer.

Everything was tip top! The hotel is stunning and it is SO relaxing. A proper bolt-hole to disconnect from a busy schedule, even if it's just 4 days. |The Ayurvedic dishes were really tasty and each one carefully prepared by their Ayurvedic chef. |One can start the day with yoga, follow this with a massage. The massage treatment schedule which is tailored by the Doctor to help balance your doshas. Meditation takes place every evening before the evening meal. |Free time can be spent relaxing, exploring Nova Levante, which is gorgeous in the summer months or head to Lake Carezza and see the stunning lake which on clear days reflects the magnificent Latemar peaks. I had very high expectations because I have been to other Ayurveda retreats and this one is quite expensive. I did the 7-day Panchakarma program and felt that 7 days was the absolute minimum to get the most out of a stay here and truly detox mind, body and soul. The location is beautiful with great views, the clearest mountain air, spacious, comfortable and lovely rooms with magnificent outlooks, excellent design throughout the hotel, a warm outdoor saltwater swimming pool and access to the extended spa facilities including steam, sauna, cold pool, gym at the next door Engel Hotel. The treatments ranged from very good to average and this is probably because the hotel is quite new and still refining systems and processes. The yoga and meditation classes were good. Customer service was outstanding led by the delightful Carmen. A truly wonderful group of service orientated people across all departments. I made some friends amongst the guests who came from all walks of life and different countries. For me, I found the food lacking in imagination and flavour and I am sure this will be improved as time goes on. |I highly recommend this retreat because they truly care and you feel part of the familyand community here😊

It was a wonderful trip. From the beginning til the end, there was everything amazing. Food, treatments, location, people...really everything. I have been in other Ayurveda hotels all over the world and this trip was really one of the best!!!! So highly recommended!

My husband and our 18-month-old daughter stayed at Engel Gourmet & Spa for the first week of our honeymoon in September 2024. Even before we arrived the customer service over email was brilliant - always fast to respond to my questions with informative and warm replies.||When we arrived after a long journey with some delays, we received a very friendly welcome. I especially appreciated the hotel staff making sure we got to eat before the restaurant closed for the night. Our room was welcoming, spacious, with a garden and fabulous mountain view. There was a separate small bedroom for our toddler daughter, that worked really well and meant we didn't have to sit in the dark when she went to bed. The room had everything we needed for an infant - including a cot and changing mat. We bought our own backpack and stroller for hiking but turned out we didn't need to as the hotel already provided these things.||The hotel was incredibly family friendly and the reception staff always had a smile and a wave for our shy daughter. There was always a high chair at our dinner table every meal and colouring pencils and paper to keep her occupied. There was a child's menu and the chef kindly took onboard our meal requests. There is a fantastic playroom/nursery upstairs. It has a Scandinavian design with lots of wooden play furniture, toys and craft activities. The nursery staff were lovely and although we felt our daughter that bit too young to be left there unattended, it was handy to have somewhere to take her to play during the day. The nursery also runs daily excursions/activities.||Although the hotel is family friendly, it doesn't feel like a hotel for children. The restaurant had adult only sections and there was a sophisticate bar and knowledgeable barman serving stronger drinks. I really enjoyed the incredible adult only spa, with several saunas of varying temperatures, steam rooms and pools. One evening the spa was open late at night and I enjoyed a moonlit swim in the fabulous heated outdoor pool. Beauty or relaxation treatments can be booked and I enjoyed a relaxing facial. The food was fantastic, five courses every evening that included hearty local dishes and always some vegetarian and vegan options. We also enjoyed the breakfasts, healthy lunches (including pasta cooked by a chef in front of you) and of course being British, we loved the tea and cake at 4pm every day :)||I was impressed with the daily timetable of activities at the hotel, which you can dip into as little or as much as you wish and also included activities for children. My husband and I took turns to do the morning yoga class in a beautiful studio in the next door building. The male teacher was fantastic and lead a class suitable for beginners and more experienced practitioners. We both felt much more relaxed after each class.||I would love to return to this hotel, especially when our daughter is older and we can leave her at the nursery for an hour or two. The staff were exception. Friendly, kind and nothing was never too much. We were particularly impressed by Marco and Sabrina who were outstanding.||As a final note, the local town is stunning. Nice cafes and outdoor playgrounds with the most spectacular views. The cable car up into the mountains is a must and we would have enjoyed more walks had our daughter been more willing!

I had a great experience at Engel from every aspect, the place is beautiful, the staff highly welcoming and professional, treatments were an experience that left me anew as I returned home. The care and the attention to details and to each single person in its uniqueness is treated remarkably. I am very grateful to Ms Kolher to have imagined and created this unique corner of paradise and to Dr. Path as I was provided with great guidance and advice with top professionalism. Overall I highly recommend this place and will surely be back.
