Enigma - Nature & Water Hotel

I rate 5 starts in every category. We stay at the hotel for only a weekend in one of the big suites, all was very nice. We can see that the hotel is not new, maybe some maintenance is required in some areas. We use the spa and the outside pool. Breakfast was good for a 4 start hotel, they served real orange juice, nowadays this is rare is some hotels. Recommend!!!

TL;DR: Lovely views and great housekeeping, but the spa and pool are dirty and neglected, and one of front desk staff was unfriendly. In June 2025, I spent my honeymoon at this hotel. We were looking for a peaceful, secluded place with a beautiful view – and in that regard, it didn’t disappoint. The view from the rooms on floor -2 is absolutely stunning; the window opens up to an endless landscape. One of the few highlights of our stay. Housekeeping was excellent – they kept the room spotless and were always professional and discreet. The breakfast was mid, on the weekends as they know they have more people the food is more diverse and has more variety...not fair for the ones spending a week there. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was for the spa and pool. Sadly, they were the biggest disappointment. We informed reception that we wanted to use the spa (as it requires booking), and the receptionist (unfortunately I don’t know her name) failed to mention anything about the spa's poor condition. On top of that, every interaction with her felt cold and unwelcoming – not what you’d expect from front desk staff at a hotel. The spa was a real shock: broken tiles, and the changing area for men and women was not separated – it was supposed to be divided by a glass wall, but it was missing. There were no loungers to put our things down, and the buttons for the steam room and sauna were broken and had exposed wiring. The features of the indoor pool were not working either. Before heading to the outdoor pool, I told the same receptionist that the pool cleaning robot was still in the water. She just replied “okay” and didn’t care. Despite the robot being in the water, the pool was filthy – bugs and clumps of hair were floating in it. There were almost no loungers outside, and the flooring around the pool was lifting in places – dangerous for kids running or playing, as they could cut their feet. They left the cleaning robot in the pool every day. During our 7-day stay, we never once saw them remove it. The hotel claims to be 4 stars, but it’s far from it. It doesn’t seem like it’s been inspected in a long time. For the price we paid around 800 € , it fell short on the expectations. If you’re hoping to enjoy a spa and pool experience – don’t book this hotel.

Overall its a great hotel surrounded by a beautiful landscape. The only big downisde is the spa and gym area. It is terribly maintained, there is mold in the jacuzzi, the saunas don’t work and the gym has very little malfunctioning equipment. If you’re planning on relaxing at the spa choose a different place. Obrigado.

AWESOME place! Superbeautiful location with nice view, amazing well equipped and maintained hotel with everything a 4 star Hotel should have. Very clean, decently new, nice staff, great breakfast (please add tomatoes to the buffet please 😅) and absolutely best is the pool area. I hardly can remember a more relaxing day at the pool than here! Would come back anytime!

While the location is advantageous with easy access to many beaches, the overall experience at the hotel falls short. Despite the exceptionally courteous staff, the condition of the hotel is disappointing. Mold in the bathroom, a disorganized spa zone, malfunctioning sauna and Turkish bath, along with a dated and unclean jacuzzi and a poorly-maintained heated pool, collectively create an unsatisfactory environment. The evident lack of maintenance suggests the hotel hasn't received proper care since its construction 20 years ago. For a business to thrive, investing in the upkeep of the facilities is crucial. Even with a bustling atmosphere and numerous guests during our stay, the disappointing state of the amenities overshadowed the positive aspects. This delayed feedback stems from genuine disappointment, given the high cost of accommodation at this hotel without corresponding value. It's crucial to highlight the commendable efforts of the staff, who tried their best to ensure a pleasant stay. However, their service is hindered by the subpar condition of the hotel. In hindsight, had I been aware of these issues beforehand, I would have reconsidered my choice and would advise others to do the same. Enclosed are some images of the SPA for your perusal. Would you confidently categorize it as a 4-star hotel SPA? My own assessment leans towards a different conclusion.

We are traveling through Portugal, so far this have been one of our favorite hotels! It’s truly a gem 💎 since we got there all staff was kind and friendly, the room has good size and super comfy king size bed, pillows are amazing also! Breakfast was good 👍🏽 and the pool and spa are the best! This is definitely a good option!! Special thanks to Felix in reception, always with a smile on his face and willing to help! Love it here!

A nice hotel off the beaten track with access to a sauna and swimming pool. possibility of ordering massages. Friendly service and comfortable rooms with beautiful views. Good restaurant.

Enigma is the hotel I have dreamed of. Located in a very calm place for an ultimate relaxation with wonderful views and fantastic comfort. The rooms are very modern, have quality construction and furniture. The beds are extremely comfortable, I would like to point out that this is is the only hotel where I slept better than at home. The breakfasts are well-served and delicious, you may also have dinners in the hotel which is very convenient. As for the spa, to my and my husband’s opinions the spa area is a bit outdated and needs renovations (we stayed in January of 2023), but I liked the fact that you book time only for yourself without having other people around. Though it’s a disadvantage at the same time, as spa doesn’t always available for you. Overall I highly recommend Enigma!
