Enjoy Chiloé. Hotel De La Isla

The views and spa are the key amenities: three outdoor wooden hot tubs +5 indoor Jacuzzi pools plus a small gym with free weights and a weight machine; and a pretty good above average continental breakfast included. Great views over the bay. (Some deferred maintenance on the building - Otherwise I would’ve given it five stars - ignore that to appreciate the water views and spa features.) Also a casino (but I don’t gamble.) Staff were very courteous; the spa’s water features are really amazing , and views are great on a sunny day.

The rooms have fantastic water views. The hotel is a bit of a walk to town. About a mile and a half (30 minutes at a brisk pace) There is a good side walk all of the way and the views are nice, although it is not flat and the town is on a bit of a hill. There is a small grocery store/deli next door and a larger grocery store close by. There is also an on site restaurant and a couple of other restaurants very close. Castro is a little sleepy so the location was nice for us. Again, the views from the rooms are spectacular.

This is supposed to be the best hotel in Castro. It was fine. Comfortable rooms. Breakfast was also fine. Not too many services to offer and location is a walk from restaurants or stores, but again, we were told it was the best that Castro has to offer.

For a five star hotel the price was great.. However, the hotel is full of little annoying details, making the visit less than comfortable. During my visit, the hotel manager was very rude. She was absent in a different room for good ten minutes and then came to the front visible annoyed. After several questions involving money ( the reservation was already paid) we got our keys. The hotel is great in an unbeatable location, however... There's no banister in the staircase leading to the outdoor hot tub. The plates for breakfast are really small and only soup size spoons are available? If you want to go to the casino as a hotel guest, you need to show some voucher, so I couldn't be bothered. The restaurant is ok, with a small selection. If you don't mind any of these details, I'd recommend it

This hotel boasts a fantastic view of the bay where you can see the dramatic change of the tide; and there is a wonderful spa. But the restaurant and concierge both leave much to be desired. Bag delivery to the room is glacial… they call it “island time”…. and the restaurant which was supposed to open at 7:30 am for breakfast, didn’t start service until 8:15 am. There were so many people waiting, there was a rush. Soon there were no cups for coffee, then empty jugs, so no water or juice. Unacceptable. You had ONE job!

This is the only hotel on the island that can handle groups. Interesting rooms with bare concrete walls and ceiling. The room was comfortable but no coffee or tea maker. We had a chaise lounge in front the large picture window which had a great view of the bay.

Very outdated inside and outside. Staff very unprofessional and unfriendly. All rooms have a connection door to adjacent room; so you can hear ALL what's happening next door. Somebody cooked and we had all smoke in our room as window handle was broken we had to live with it.....

Well located hotel with nice bay view.|However, the hotel itself is dated and desperately needs a refurbishment.||Our room was large with a self-service kitchen but zero equipment (not that we needed self service). We found old rotten food in the fridge that we asked several times to remove and clean but didn’t happen during our 4 day stay.|bathroom is also very small considering size of the room. Hot water temperature is variable but shower has good pressure.||Breakfast is a total disaster. Despite making it simple for the waiting staff with only being able to order 3 types of breakfast, the service is very slow and the process cumbersome. |The serving staff are very polite, despite lots of faffing when it comes to clearing/cleaning tables. They are simply poorly managed.||Breakfast quality itself is average, with no choice in the types of eggs (only scrambled and poorly) and comes with usual fare of mashed avocado, Nescafe coffee, fake jam, old bread, lunchmeat.||We didn’t try the spa or outdoor tubs as we were not sure of the sanitary conditions given the poor state the rest of the hotel was in.||Would not stay here again.|There could be better places to stay in Castro for the same money.
