Enjoy Puerto Varas

The outdoor pool and patios were completely closed in March, they said that it was already too cold. It was about 70° during the days and we were wearing shorts and flip-flops outside, but we’re not allowed to go into the outdoor areas. The main reason we booked this hotel was for these areas on their website. The pool required a swim cap to be worn, which of course you can buy from them at cost, for the hot tub and the indoor pool. This seems a bit silly for a five star hotel, as many other hotels do not require this , even with the same sanitation standards. Front desk staff do not speak English, and they only had one agent in the morning with a queue. The breakfast was OK. Food was good quality and variety, but could’ve been better. The rooms were big and clean. The hotel is a short walk from downtown, at the top of the hill.

A very comfortable hotel at the price, 5 minute walk from the town centre. We paid £80 per night to stay - a very good price for the level of comfort and including breakfast and parking. Their restaurant - although with a limited menu - was also good value for money.

Some of the negative online reviews of this hotel caused me to hesitate to make a reservation, however I did so and I found the negatives are exaggerated. Yes, the hotel is aging and in need of refurbishment. Yes there are some stains on the carpet and scuff marks on the walls, but overall the rooms, the sheets, and the bathrooms are clean. The restaurant quality is good and the service is attentive and friendly. I think for the price, the hotel offers a good value. I would stay again. The chance to view three volcanos across the lake, from the window of your room, is spectacular.

I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel based on a single experience I had that clearly showed a lack of customer service and poor corporate culture. ||I found a highly inebriated individual laying on the floor in the hallway by my room. I tried to wake them up, but they were not responsive. I ran to reception where the staff had no sense of urgency to go help them, and even told me not to call emergency services. When I went back up, a staff member was already helping the person who became combative. I had asked for a staff member to come up with me, and neither one of them wanted to.||For me, this experience shows a clear lack of training of the personnel in potential emergencies as well as a complete lack of empathy.||Other assessments: The bathrooms were spacious, and the breakfast was good. The wifi was spotty in my room and throughout the property, and the AC wasn't working. To cool the room down, I had to open the windows. All of this would be fine, but the situation described above made this stay a bad experience and wouldn't recommend staying here. There's many other properties in Puerto Varas with similar rates that are likely better.

My husband & I decided to take a last minute trip from Bariloche to Puerta Varas. This hotel was perfect for our stay for a few days. The front desk even let us borrow a power adapter the whole time. The room was very spacious, clean, quiet, and the location of the hotel was perfect walking distance to everything. The bed was also extremely comfortable. The robes & slippers were definitely enjoyed too!

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all cost. Seems. like they are trying to save on energy costs, so the shower has lukewarm water. They have no intention to fix this. They just told me "this is the water temperature at the hotel and there is nothing we can do about it". I had to shower in cold water for two days. A disgrace.

The photographs do not do this beautiful hotel justice. A really classy hotel with beautiful design, artworks and furniture. Large rooms and bathrooms and all very comfortable and clean. Very helpful staff. I loved the gardens and the planting on the balconies. A very peaceful place a short distance from the town centre. I loved the Chilean poetry adorning the walls also. I wish I had had longer to spend in this lovely place.|

Well, where to start? I read reviews before booking and they were right! Already after entrance you find out very young and unprofessional staff, earlier check-in was not possible (I wish that would be the only imperfection!)After entering the room you realise that maintenance/reconstruction is necessary as many parts are very used-so not according to 5* hotel levels (facade too). Breakfast every morning the same, no changes, so a bit of boring. By the last one I even found hair in fruits!!! But definitely the worst experience was zero help and mocking attitude when other guest of this hotel hit our rented car. Two days they promised to give use the video record or any other proof for rental company that this was not caused by us! As the culprit was not picking up the phone we had difficulties with the rental company. In the end we had to pay them 800€. Last thing for me as very responsible person. If you’re promoting that you take care of environment-why are you changing towels when I intentionally left them hanging?! Long story short: I literally don’t recommend to stay here!
