Incredible 13th century Friary. Beautiful structure and surprisingly well preserved. Restoration work is also very impressive.

A definite must visit. Very polite girl welcomed us in and gave us a nice overview of the Friary and then let us go along on our own. It took us about 40 minutes to go through. Alot of interesting history here. Worth the visit if you come to Ennis. I believe we paid 5 euro to enter.

A small museum of an old abbey in the city centre of Ennis. I really like how they combine the ruins with a lot of open glass walls. The entry is 5 Euro for an adult and 3 Euro for a child/student. You can spend about 20-30 minutes here.

Absolutely amazing Frairy. We went at the end of their day and had the place to ourselves. So quiet, it let us absorb it all. Truly amazing.

It is a privilege to view such a magnificent old building with such a rich history. The staff were so helpful and considerate with a genuine interest in your response to this special place. Just as a suggestion, I think a timeline map of the changes in the use of the building over time and the influences of past politics and the general historical context would be an edifying addition.

Google
Definitely worth a visit. A guide gives you a brief historical overview then you are free to wander around the places. It's very well maintained and there are lots of cool carved details in the walls and in the graveyard. The main area is covered, so this is a perfect rainy day activity.

Yelp
Such a cool place to visit in Ennis! We came on a Sunday and this was one of the few places open. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the site and was able to answer many questions for us. Pro tip - if you purchase the Irish Heritage Card you can visit a wide variety of sites around Ireland for free!

Yelp
Lovely little friary with an interesting history. The docent gave a fascinating tour. It's certainly well worth a visit. It's within walking distance of the center of town. Or if you take the Ennis Walking Tour with Jane, she ends her tour across the street and you could just stroll to the friary afterwards.

Yelp
Lovely ruin worth checking out in Ennis. It's in a central location in the town, so you can't miss it. As with all OPW properties, prices are cheap and worth paying to see this 13th century building. Guided tours are available from expert staff, but the boards and posters cover all the relevant information, and I enjoyed going around at my own pace. Much of the information is located under a roof, so you can go on wet days, but of course some of the ruin stretches outside as well, and I enjoy just admiring the antiquity of it all. Recommended.

Yelp
The Friary is easy to find in the center of town. It's a great place to take some arty pictures and if it happens to be raining which it often is in Ireland even better! Shoot some with the edge of stone windows in the frame and you'll look like a professional. It's tough to mess this one up. I thought the town of Ennis was completely charming. I ended up there by chance and wished that I had more time to explore. I'll be back!

Yelp
The Ennis Friary is a 13th century Franciscan friary that still stands today in Ennis, Co. Clare. In fact, the whole town was originally built around the friary, which even today is in the heart of the town. A sight you have to see to appreciate, it is yet another great reason to visit Co. Clare.
