15 Best Bars in Florence | Condé Nast Traveler

"Located directly opposite the vast, grandiose 15th-century Pitti Palace, Pitti Gola e Cantina, a small enoteca, or wine bar, has a loyal local following. Inside, a marble-topped bar counter takes center stage in a room where wall-to-wall shelves are stacked high with wine. Three Enomatic machines (for preserving fine wines once they are opened) behind the bar hint at the serious credentials of the wine list, which include bottles dating from the 1960s and ‘70s—and even the ‘50s—which you won't find in any other Florentine bar. There are only six tables inside and most are for just two, so it’s best for an intimate evening." - Coral Sisk

Google
This was a great wine bar to go to on a warm day. The decent price includes a wine pairing with your set meal. My husband had the truffle meal and I tried the lighter vegetable option. The wines paired were deep and crisp.

Google
This was our favorite place in Florence. We went twice during our weekend city trip. The service was fabulous. Both guys were very knowledgeable and gave us excellent wine recommendations. The rooster ravioli? I could have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Absolutely delicious. Desserts were also exceptionally good. Keep up the great work!

Being from a major food and drinks city (New Orleans, Louisiana USA) I’ll say this is an incredible wine experience in the heart of Firenze. Knowledgeable, patient, and kind staff that over delivers in every aspect. The entire team at Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina is first class and the wine list is first rate. Highly recommend this establishment and will certainly be back. Be sure to get some snacks and ask for their wine and local eats recommendations!

Google
Our server was great at explaining the wines. The bar was very welcoming and they let us know it’s a wine tasting place. The appetizers paired with the wine well. The view was also amazing!

Google
One of our favorite stops on our 17 day trip to Italy. We made reservations and had an amazing dinner, and they were OK with us bringing our 2 young children (ages 2 and 6). Its a pretty elegant place, so I wouldn't recommend bringing kids unless they are very well behaved! We sat outside and enjoyed a couple of sparkling wines they recommended, followed by a tasting of a Barolo and Brunello (to compare). We loved most of everything we tried to be honest. We then got some amazing and detailed information about where to go and what to taste later on in our trip into Chianti Classico. By the end of the trip we were able to validate that the recommendations from Zeno were among the best we received on the whole trip! We would return in a heart beat, such a great place. We also purchased several wines from them at the end of the night!

Google
Loved this wine bar. Wonderful flights and nice meat and cheese plate. We went twice during our week in Florence and even bought some bottles to take home. I loved how they explained the wines in the flight. Great people watching outside the Palazza Pitti!

Google
We only planned to visit this place for a pre-dinner drink. The owners welcomed us with such warmth and gave us no choice than to cancel our dinner table elsewhere to experience a unique wine and food pairing. - A must visit place for wine lovers in Firenze.

Google
Dieci stelle, 5 stars aren't enough! Antipasti were so fresh. The rabbit ragù was perfect for summer. I watched my wife's eyes light up as she tasted her ravioli. Wine pairing was perfect, great recommendation. Great people watching with the Pitti Palace in the background. Very friendly staff that worked with me and my poor Italian. A highlight for our 25th anniversary.

Yelp
Do not miss this spot. Located across from Palazzo Pitti, this place has a great view, great ambiance, great wine, and great food. We've visited multiple times, on multiple trips. We basically treated the enoteca as our headquarters this trip, convening there at least once a day to solidify plans (and have wine & bites, of course!). The staff is extremely friendly and well informed. They were invaluable when it came to recommendations, leading us in the right direction daily. We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Spending time here was a highlight of our trip to Florence. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, delicious wine and the most relaxing atmosphere after navigating the tourist mobs. We did not order any food only stopped here for wine and cheese plate.

Yelp
Incredible taglierini with butter, parmigiano, and truffles -- as good or better as any we had in Piedmont over the summer. Gnochetti wkth squid ink was good but I'd get something else next time. My wife loved her wine tasting.

Yelp
This place is a massive bait and switch scam. While there's no doubt their wines in enoteca are super good, their business model is to get 2-3 of those amazing ones from the producers you can absolutely enjoy; but that's the bait. The scam is that's all they have to sell. Or can sell by law. They then try to sell you a subscription to their wine club where you assume based off what you tasted you will buy a similar quality of wine; I've been a member a few years and the wines they ship are garbage. That's the switch. When you go back to the store to buy more of the good wine, they claim they can't sell them. You can only drink a bottle there because that's all they have, the good stuff is used to lure you in to sell you the garbage later; so do not join their wine club. Per their email, you will not get what you tasted. They admit this too if you email them.

Yelp
Cute little spot! After a long day of walking, it was nice to sit down and enjoy some great wine, yummy cheese and accoutrements. The service was great and everything was wonderful. Also the hazelnuts OMG, delicious.

Yelp
This is just a very special place. I've visited on multiple trips to Florence, multiple times. In each case, even the glasses of wine are treated as if they are something unique, to be discussed and savored with whoever your well-informed waiter happens to be. The food is also delicious. We especially enjoyed the Burrata with anchovies and capers on warm cornbread, and the delicious chicken liver pate on the local toasted Fiorentine bread. Also... Drink Vermentino... whenever possible!!

Yelp
This continues to be my go-to place when I am in Florence. The food is always good, the ambiance is cool, and the people are awesome - of course don't forget the wines, too! Once you pick what you would like to eat (mind you, everything tastes great) they will suggest a matching wine for you. I was here 7 years ago (for the first time), 5 years ago, then now...and one of the owners: Zeno remembered me! Thanks for the great experience again! You can buy wine after you tasted. Also they will bubble wrap for you if you plan to bring back.

Yelp
If you are into wine this place is a must visit. I actually can't say enough about this place... the service, the food and the wine are all spectacular! Reservations are certainly necessary because the place is pretty small and will get filled up everyday. If you go for lunch, they have a 35 euro per person tasting menu that included five or six courses all with distinct wine pairings. It's a steal! And let's be clear that any wine on their menu doesn't get there by accident... each one is hand selected for the quality or the uniqueness based on what they're serving it with that day. The food was some of the best we had in Florence, but the personality and outgoing nature of the hospitality made the place truly 5 stars. It should be on your short list of must do spots in Florence. Pro tip: if you happen to be dining alone... they have three bar stools inside at the main bar and one stool is almost always open anytime day or night. Hop on the bar, elevate your day... Thank me later!

Yelp
An amazing selection of wines, and incredibly intelligent staff. Best wine tasting we've had.

Yelp
I read a lot of recommendation and made reservation for my first night in Florence. It's a cute place, only few tables and we sat outside enjoying the summer breeze. The food was ok but not amazing.
google avatar

Savannah S.

Yelp
Went for wine tasting with my boyfriend, his sister and her boyfriend after seeing it randomly on a map. We just did a bubbles flight, but it was delicious and the staff was highly knowledgeable! We even ended up purchasing one of the wines we tried to have again later that evening. Service was a tad slow - but in Italy that's to be expected and embraced! Did not try the food, but it looked good.

Yelp
Wine lovers dream! This place is a must for your casual wine enthusiast or hardcore wine travel explorer. They have a deep list of Chianti Classico dating from the early 1900's on. These are wines stored properly and not available any place else in this quantity. The food is excellent. The staff is excellent. Be warned this is a wine bar and they do not take kindly to customers interested in food only.

Yelp
Top notch wine bar. Great ambiance. Reserved tables may be held for hours in advance, so ask and you may be seated until the reservation time. Wifey, baby daughter and I each got a wine flight. Wifey got the Discover Italy flight based on Nebbiolo grapes, featuring Brunello and Barolo wines. I got the Chianti Classico flight, featuring a 1970 offering. Baby girl got the bubbles flight. Staff KNOW their wine. Every wine was excellent. Bottles are available for purchase at reasonable prices. Very enjoyable. Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
If you're a huge fan of wine and cheese like I am, you must try this place. It was already on my list to visit before even getting to Florence but I was convinced to try it even more when my Airbnb guy recommended it as well. The place is located in the Pitti piazza, so you get to sit outside and get a nice view of the Pitti piazza. Don't follow the gps completely as the direction will take you further out then where it is, so keep an eye out for the name of the restaurant (also hard to find), but it's only few restaurants back from where the gps takes you. Now let's talking about wine! I recommend getting the tasting flight. They have few different options and the waiter recommends you something depending on if you're eating cheese with it, a meal, or just drinking wine. We tried out 6 different wines and they were all fantastic!!! I tried the cheeses in Italy few times before I tried the cheeses here and I was really disappointed, so I was hoping for good cheeses here and I was not disappointed at all. I was so happy that the cheese selection was exactly what I was craving!!!! Their inside seatings are really cute, but it all packed when we got there so we sat outside, and suffered a slight bit in the heat but it was all worth it.

Yelp
Two trips to Italy and this is our favorite place. Spent one night at the bar getting a wonderful lesson in several local wines. The bartender was helpful and knowledgeable. The glasses of wine were priced well below what we expected considering the price of the bottles. An order off their limited bar snack menu was enough to get us to make a reservation for dinner the following night. Dinner was even better than we expected. We enjoyed all of their wine recommendations. The food was all amazing. Fresh pasta, flavorful sauce. The star was a Parmesan and pecorino fondue topped with an egg and mushrooms. There are no words to do it justice. They have a wine club featuring local wines that are generally unavailable or hard to find in the states. We were surprised at how reasonable it was to have them ship to the U.S.

Yelp
Some good and some bad with this review. Here is the quick and dirty breakdown. +1 star - Very responsive to my request for reservations. Showed up on time and our table was ready. +1 star - Prosciutto app with mozarella was amazing. Probably some of the best prosciutto I had on the trip to Firenze. Ask for the bottle of Olio di Olivo to do some extra drizzle on the dish. +1 star - food was pretty solid. Not the best in Firenze, but good food. -1 star - Sat down for dinner and asked to do one of the wine tastings on the menu. Was told the wine tastings can only be done at lunch. About 10 mins later, another waiter brings a tasting of three glasses over to a party of three sitting next to us. Che cosa? -1 star - my dish came out luke warm. As highly recommended as this restaurant was from a friend in NY, the execution did not come through at the end of the day. Wanted to give this place 5 stars, but couldn't go any higher than 3 stars. Conclusion: Would recommend putting this place on your lunch radar versus dinner. It is small so make sure you have a reservation in advance.

Yelp
I'm in LOVE! This is possibly the best meal I've ever had in my entire life, and that is saying a lot. I have had MANY a chef's tasting menu and this rivals my favorite spot (Bacchanalia in Atlanta, GA) We reserved Dinner with an Owner for the night. This includes a 15+ wine tasting along with a specialized tasting menu of around 8-10 courses of DELICIOUS food. Zeno, one of the owners of the restaurant, made us feel right at home and explained the origin of each wine. He pairs everything specifically to whatever dish you are having and is also a pleasure to chat with and share a few drinks. I only wish I lived closer so I could frequent this place more often. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND EAT HERE!!! You will NOT be disappointed!!!!

Yelp
I absolutely love this wine bar. It was my favorite wine bar I went to on this trip. I randomly was walking by and decided hey it's 2pm how about some wine. So I walked in and was greeted by an extremely nice waiter who let me practice my (not so great) Italian. I ordered a glass of Brunello and sat back to relax. I had dinner plans later that night so I didn't get any food. The Brunello was one of the best I tasted. The server took time to explain where the bottle was produced and what makes Brunello so special. After about an hour of relaxing I decided I have to come back and actually eat here. The next day I made the trek back across the Ponte Vecchio bridge to my new favorite little wine bar. This time I ordered food. I ordered stuffed squash blossoms and this AMAZING to die for spaghettini with burrata, eggplant, tomato and basil. It was so simple and yet so perfectly executed. The pasta was al dente and delicious. I would eat that dish every day if I could. Naturally, I ordered a few more glasses of Brunello and talked to my waiter who said "ah you are back again!" If I lived there, they wouldn't be able to get rid of me. I love this place.

Yelp
I'm a wine newbie, and I really enjoyed this wine bar! You can sit outside or inside. This bar is right across from Pitti Palace; there are other shops/bars/restaurants down the street as well. The servers were excellent and really knew about all the wines they served. They were extremely knowwledeable. They were able to give advice and recommendations. I had a delicious Pinot Grigio, a Bubbly, and an Orange Wine. Prices are reasonable, wine is great, and staff is very friendly- they also speak English

Yelp
Where do I begin?!! For starters, the location of this little gem is just lovely: it boasts a view of the Piazza Pitti, and there is seating outdoors for around 18 patrons. I made a 7:30pm dinner reservation request via email, and was responded to within hours. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly, and immediately served a wonderful complimentary glass of prosecco. We were seated at our table al fresco within 6-minutes. From there, we were greeted by the proprietor, Zeno Fioravati, who treated us like old friends. My husband and I are not particularly seasoned wine drinkers, and Zeno educated us about selecting the perfect glass for our respective meals. His passion for wine was apparent, and his gracious hospitality was just right: attentive, but not overbearing. And he couldn't have made better recommendations! Our 14-year old daughter & I started with the fried zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese, and it simply melted in our mouths. My husband ordered the cheese board, and couldn't stop moaning with delight (as well, the focaccia was so light & savory that we devoured it all!). Our entrees were equally divine: I had the homemade gnocchi with octopus, capers & tomato, and it was prepared to perfection, as was our daughter's ravioli with robiola cheese, lemon & thyme in a cream of pea. My husband's tagliatelle with veal ossubuco ragout blew his mind. Sadly, we were too full for dessert, but the selections were lovely. All told, our bill came to $80 Euros, which felt incredibly reasonable for a meal of this caliber. Zeno also let us know that he & his brother recently opened a second restaurant (Osteria del Emoteco, located at Via Romana Fored, 055/2286018), which we plan to check out on our last night in Firenze.

Yelp
Loved our experience sitting outside here and all the excellent wine knowledge. We did the tasting menu which we all said was excellent value! The osso buco pappardelle was sooo good! You will enjoy the atmosphere, great food and great wine selection!

Yelp
If you are a huge wine lover and connoisseur - or just love some great wine flights...welcome to your Haven! We made a reservation for lunch on our recent trip to Florence. This place came highly recommended by a coworker who visits this place religiously every trip. We opted to sit outside in the baking Florence sunshine. That is not an understatement. For lunch it was 2 of us, myself and my veggie loving husband. For lunch, we started with the Fried Zucchini Flowers and the Prosciutto 24 Mesi with Truffle Gorgonzola. Holy ham!! I wasn't a huge fan of the Zucchini Flowers, more so because I don't love fried food all that much. But the Prosciutto - order it if you eat pork! It was amazing and my tastebuds thanked me all day for it. For lunch entree we weren't starving, so we shared the Ravioletti di Robiola. When you're in Italy, there is something magical about the fresh pasta. This restaurant nailed it on quality and flavors. The service was absolutely friendly and "service with a smile". They were so helpful and informative being first timers - we were so pleased! I highly recommend you come pay this place a visit if you are visiting Florence. The food and wine pairings are incredible!

Yelp
A must stop for any wine-lover. The guys here knows a lot about wine and would love to show you interesting wines you have not tested before. I had some great Chianti and an delicious Franciacorta i decided to buy and take home. The food here is probably good too but i will have to try it for myself next time in Florence. Prices fair for the quality and knowledge. You can drink cheap, medium or expensive vintage. Go now and thank me later ; )
google avatar

Willie L.

Yelp
Such a great wine selection! All types and flavors and sizes. Very comfortable seating, a/c, delightful assortment of snacks to go with your wine. Relaxing and peaceful, a joy to visit!
google avatar

Farah A.

Yelp
Horribly rude owner. Made reservations for my birthday lunch. After placing our order for 5 dishes with the very nice waiter, the owner came and refused us service because we did not order wine. I explained we are Muslim and don't drink and he called me rude, said sorry and that he couldn't serve us any food unless we drank. Racist much? What's funny to me is we would have spent far more than what most would have paid for the 35 euro lunch tasting menu with the wine pairing. So if you want to eat at a racist, rude, poor business man's establishment, this is your spot.

Yelp
i could probably go on and on about this place and my experience, but ill give you the cliff notes version of it instead... GO THERE. if youre in florence and you want to eat well AND have a great wine tasting experience...GO THERE. zeno (one of the owners/sommelier) is a well spoken italian cat that knows his wine. we found out about this place thru another friend who had been here recently, and boy were we lucky to have found this gem of a spot... our wine tasting and meal consisted of about 7 or 8 courses of food with about 12 glasses of wine. after the greatest wine tasting experience ive ever had in my life....i was completely satiated and also completely hammered. GOD, vacations sure are great... the wine selection here truly is remarkable...apparently they have their own reserve bottles of wine that they started receiving from a small winery that they work with near tuscany... these guys really do have a passion for wine and food and will definitely educate you on old world italian wines... i have to say again...the food here was amazing...as a wine-o or as a foodie...if youre in florenece...make a reservation and get your ass in here asap!!!

Yelp
"NO ACQUA SOLO VINO" (No water, only wine)! 'Nuff said. When I saw that beautiful gold plaque by the front door, I knew I was going to love my meal! (Spoiler alert: they, in fact, do serve water. ;)) My favorite meal in Florence and favorite wine bar, period. If you enjoy delicious food and wine, do yourself a favor and make reservations for this place - you can thank me later! Having enjoyed a great meal the day before at Le Volpi e l'uva (which I highly recommend too), I wasn't sure how this wine bar could top that experience. If I call the wine lists a tie between the two places, Enoteca Pitti wins the food comparison by offering a DELICIOUS full menu, not just small bites. Considering the quality and quantity of food (and wine) served here, the wine tasting meals are amazing values! Even if you decide not to select a wine tasting (like my wife, who doesn't really drink), the a la carte prices are very reasonable. While everything we ate was delicious, I highly recommend the following items (well worth adding to your meal if not already included): Aged Parmigiano Reggiano "soup" with a delicious assortment of fresh, wild mushrooms topped with a beautiful egg yolk. Pure decadent awesomeness - we licked the bowl clean! Pappardelle Fatte in Casa con Ragout di Ossobuco (fresh homemade tagliatelle pasta with ossobuco ragout). Another foodgasmic dish! Unsurprisingly, it pairs great with Brunello! Like much of Italy, Enoteca Pitti is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. The staff takes the time to introduce and explain each wine they bring you, and are happy to chat and answer any questions you might have.

Yelp
Fabulous experience, quaint, DELICIOUS food and fantastic wines. Small portions for the food but incredibly yummy. Was recommend to me both by a friend in the states, and a friend who is from Rome. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We love Enoteca Pitti Gola! We found them on a rainy day and kept coming back for meals and tastings. Before we left Florence we joined their wine memberships. We are now going on year three of receiving wines shipped to California and they are delicious. They also write a detailed newsletter about the wine and winemakers to accompany your shipment. The selection and attention to details is what's keeps us dreaming of going back to Italy. Thank you!

Yelp
Oh, Enoteca Pitti... oh, you glorious little winery. It was hot and we were tired from tramping around the beautiful but oppressively sunny Boboli Gardens (right across from this amazing place). It was our honeymoon and I had read about this place and how magnificent it was. I sprung for the wine paired lunch and it was the (second ;) ) best decision of my life. Firstly, a wine tasting here does not mean what it means in the states. You are getting an almost full glass of each of the four wines here. Be prepared, darlings. The Food (this was lunch!): The chicken pate with sage and red wine reduction - butter of the gods. Fresh pasta with beef and mushrooms - hearty, light and magnificent. Homemade ricotta pie - the birth of Venus in dessert form. The Wine: How special to have the server describe the wine you are about to taste from its birth to current maturity as well as tell you about its flavor profile, home and reasons for pairing! Talk about treating yourself! I felt like a Renaissance duchess, awaiting my multiple courses ordered from the leather (yes, authentic Italian leather) menu. Two whites, one effervescent and appley, the other as flavorful as a Wonka everlasting gobstopper - it just kept going! Oak, then fruit, then vanilla. Amazing. Two reds, one dry and nicely sour, the other sweet and dark like good chocolate. One of the most decadent moments of my life, and one I will always remember. After this most luscious of lunches, I needed a nap and an espresso. Isn't that what Italian vacations are for?
google avatar

Brit G.

Yelp
We are traveling for our honeymoon and came to this restaurant based on its impeccable reputation. The restaurant is amazing. The flavors are impeccable. We complimented the food and were educated on the wine. It was truly amazing. Words cannot describe.
google avatar

Kelly G.

Yelp
These guys take their jobs seriously. We both ordered the red wine tasting and the gentleman proceeded to bring out each bottle and explain the history, tasting notes, and differences between the wines. It's nice to be treated to lovely service despite the fact that we were obvious tourists, as we have experienced much of the opposite on this European tour. We visited during "siesta" time (3:30-6:30ish most places close or offer a limited menu) so the food menu is limited to cheese and bread, however the cheese plate was outstanding. The location is right across from the Pitti Palace so the people watching is equally outstanding. Definitely a must visit.

Yelp
This place will bring me back to Florence, not David or Uffizi! BEST dining experience in Italy!!! I went there once and went back everyday for my time in Florence! The food is delicious and the wines excellent to be paired! Zeno, one of the owners was there all three days and was so kind, genuine, and passionate about his work! Go with what he suggests! Oh and ask for a recommendation about a cocktail bar, he gave us an excellent recommended speak easy which we would NEVER have found on our own! Oh and if they have he tiramisu... GET IT!!!! This is a wine bar first so if they have no coffee don't wine!!! You are in their world now and they are there to take care of you. They also have a wine club which ships all over hr world which I will be joining!!
google avatar

S T.

Yelp
Reservations recommended though we did manage to eat here twice. Both times were excellent as were the suggested wine pairing.
google avatar

Hoss G.

Yelp
After 3 trips to Florence over 4 years, I say without reservation this is a can't miss place. Zeno and his partners clearly love what they do and want you to love it too. The wine is fantastic, but more than that is the story of the wine that comes with every glass. Reservations advised in the evenings.
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
We came to Florence for our honeymoon. Our AirBnB host highly recommended this place, and I am so appreciative that she did. Beware though, once you come here, you're going to dream about it for years to come and, depending on where you're from, you'll be aching for it a long time without an easy way to get back. First off, this is the only place in Florence that really did a "wine tasting" in a restaurant setting. They had a few different flights and we chose the Chianti flight -- where they include a 1970s Chianti in the flight, which is even more impressive given that the flight is just 20 euros. THe cheese plate was wonderful and paired well with the tasting, and I recommend that to start. When you come here, you get the table for the night; so, don't rush and buckle for a long evening of good food. I think their menu probably changes regularly with the seasons, but we had the steak tartare and a couple different dishes, including the local terrine. All of it was amazing, and I can't imagine making a bad choice here. Our waiter was knowledge about the wine and seemed fluent in probably a couple of languages. They also sell wine by the bottle, so if you find something you really like, you can take it home with you. Do not miss this place, but call early when you arrive in Florence or beforehand to get a reservation. They only have a few tables and pretty much give you the table for the night. There's no rush.

Yelp
Great location directly across from the Pitti Palace (let's face it after schlepping through that place you'll need a few glasses of wine) Helpful, friendly staff, beautiful space with a downstairs room for meetings or larger groups. The best and most unique selling point for this place though is their varied, well curated wine list. Where else are you going to drink a glass of 1977 Chianti for €10? I wish I had discovered this place sooner as I would have been here every night! Buyer beware- no booze or beer so only bring fellow winos

Yelp
This place turns away customers who just want to eat the food without the wine. The guy said to me, "it's a wine bar," as if this sentence explains the reasoning. Place is doomed to fail in a month. How do you turn away customers from your business? Craziest concept so far in Florence.

Yelp
Not to be missed on your tour of a Florence....or if you live here. Amazing selection of hand picked wines, knowledgeable, friendly owners who kindly explain the provenance of the wines. Sign up for their wine club too and enjoy their insight all year long.

Yelp
This is a tiny place that caters to people who love wine and want food that specifically is to accompany wine . They do a terrific job. We went twice and both times enjoyed the ricotta stuffed zucchini blossoms which were fried in a very light batter and the assortment of antipasti including a fabulous crostini. One of best pastas was the pappardelle with a Osso buco . And then the wine. We had a wonderful barrel aged trebbiano and 2 great Chiantis from 2013. If you love wine you need to go here.

Yelp
This was the highlight of our four-city trip to Italy, hands down. Zeno was a great host, knew absolutely everything there was to know about their wines, treated us so incredibly well by allowing us to sample a number of their dishes. Try the orange wine; try their bread!

Yelp
Living in Florence, I made several attempts to make a reservation with no luck. On occasion, I would stop by to see if there was any spot available. Asking for a table in perfectly resaonable Italian the response, in English, was "No, if you want a salad you can go over there." Gesturing to some tourist trap down the street. I never went back and never recommend this place.

Yelp
What a romantic evening we had! My husband and I scheduled the 'Dinner with the Owner' before traveling to Florence. We had read the many great reviews from various travel sites and we were excited to have great food and amazing wine. This blew our expectations out of the water. We were so fortunate to be able to do this. We were inside the wine bar, in a corner and had the owner almost to ourselves the entire night. He was friendly, informative and funny. He let us try 15-20 different wines, explained them in detail about the vineyards, processes and tasting notes. It was paired with a lovely, truly authentic meal. The meal was divine- homemade pasta, pate, prawns, and more. Honestly it was one of the most memorable nights from our entire trip to Europe. Absolutely go. Absolutely do Dinner with the Owner. It is a magical evening filled with great wine and food. It makes me want to be back in Florence.

Yelp
Wow. Wow. Wow. Best meal ever? Perhaps. Had a pretty good meal at the Herb Farm I. Seattle once. The pairings were just absolutely amazing. We went with the flow and asked them to pick the wine and the food. So glad we did. We had to schedule our return, so we cancelled a reservation for Another restaurant ok Sunday. Yes, it was that good. John

Yelp
This place embodies what I aspire to do in life...get two of your closest friends together, choose your passion, and go for it. Three friends supposedly opened this place after a New Year's Eve party idea of opening up an enoteca--and it's phenomenal. MUST make reservations, as the place is tiny and there's only four bar seats. Excellent wine choices and these folks know their stuff. You can ask them for any recommendation or have a flight of something. The price range is just out of this world for anyone coming from the US, as they're very reasonable for the wines they're giving you! Chicken liver terrine was excellent as were the salumi and pasta. Grazie for an excellent time!

Yelp
My Fiance and I were in Florence last summer traveling for a month, and our evening at Enoteca Pitti was by far and away the best dining experience of my our life. Not of our trip, of our entire life. Here's how it went down: we know our wines, but we're totally lost when it comes to Italian wines, so we asked a lot of questions and became fast friends with one of the three owners. They specialize in hard to find regional wines that often only get sold within Italy (small producers mostly). Then, before we knew it, glasses of wine worthy of a ten year anniversary began to appear, paired with food that can only be described as episodes of- "the meaning of the universe can be explained by this perfect bite". Finally, we were sent off with a bottle of sparkling Rose (which would normally ignore, but by that time we were sold on our host's recommendations). We drank the bottle with our legs dangling off an outcropping of Florence's magnificently romantic bridge, drinking Florence into all our senses. The wine was dry, and the bubbles went to our head, in all the right ways. Absolutely exquisite. Now, here's a quick bit of advice. Be nice, be curtious, be passionate, and be curious. The owners are allergic to snooty or inconsiderate guests- a well heeled man was smoking a cigar at the table next us, clearly unconcerned about how his actions affected others. He received service to match. However we, travelers with backpacks, were waited on hand and foot. I swear they cracked open bottles just to taste, that were worthy of royalty. I'd be surprised if they made any money on us even after we purchased a few bottle to take home, and they didn't seem to care- they were the perfect hosts. So, how strongly do we recommend visiting Enoteca? Let's put it this way- we've decided to get married in the countryside of Florence, and we're going to beg and plead to see if Enoteca will cater our intimate wedding. We've signed up for the wine club, and we've just received our second shipment (hurray)! And, we're going to sign up with dinner with the owners on our next visit. I understand our visit might be unusual amazing, however there's a magic in this small wine bar, and if you let yourself be swept away, you many just find that Italy can indeed be distilled into a bottle and perfectly paired to food. Just bring someone beautiful with you, so you can enjoy the memory even after the bottle's empty. Thank you for such a wonderful time to Zeno, and the wonderful staff.

Yelp
If you want a massive steak, this ain't yer place. If you're looking for true hospitality, some excellent wines, and truly lovely food, tough to beat. I want to move to Florence.

Yelp
Pitti Gola e Cantina is one of those hidden gems of Italy; it's a small wine bar right across the street from the Pitti Palace. Whenever I'm in Florence I make a point of stopping by and sampling a few glasses of some Super Tuscans accompanied by some fine cheeses. I would highly recommend this fine Cantina.
