The experience was amazing. From the beginning to the end. Easy navigation to book, options regarding rooms clear. Warm welcome by professional staff who were knowledgeable. The room was clean, airy and big. The spa centre also very welcoming, clean and many choices. Breakfast in a nice big room with lots of varieties regarding food. Location also really good with many options for leisure or drinks / food within the island.

Our 6 day stay at Ensana Grand Hotel on Margaret Island, Budapest was a mix of luxury, vintage, relaxation, and some service shortcomings. The hotel itself is beautifully vintage, posh, and luxurious, offering a unique old-world charm that sets it apart. The location is breathtaking, nestled on Margaret Island, a peaceful, green paradise right next to the Danube River—a must-visit when in Budapest.|The Spa & Treatments – A Highlight|Although the spa is inside Ensana Thermal Hotel, the massage therapy was exceptional. We scheduled daily treatments and highly recommend the foot massage and head massage reflexology. A special mention goes to Susana (Shuzhana?), who is an incredible body reader—she identified existing issues I was already aware of and even provided additional insights. Despite limited English skills, she made the effort to communicate, and with Google Translate, we had a great experience.|Other standout treatments:|• Mud pack with Judith – a fantastic experience|• Scrub massage with palinka – truly refreshing|• Abhyanga massage with Monica – highly recommended|Hotel & Location – Elegant Yet Imperfect|The Ensana Grand Hotel itself is stunning, with vintage charm and a luxurious ambiance. The location is fantastic—well connected to Budapest city center by bus (3 stops) followed by metro (4 stops), making it convenient while still offering a serene escape.|However, the rooms have thin walls, which can be an issue when trying to sleep, as you can hear your neighbors even when they aren’t being loud. This was a downside to an otherwise comfortable stay.|Service – Needs Major Improvement|Unfortunately, the customer service at the spa reception was a major disappointment. Upon check-in, a manager assured us of a discount on spa treatments, but the next day, we were told it was a system error, and there was no discount. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the spa reception staff—especially one lady—was outright rude, questioning us in a harsh tone:|“Who gave you the discount? How much discount are you talking about?”|Additionally, the staff overall lacked professionalism, with many not speaking English, making communication difficult. While we understand language barriers, customer service should still be polite, accommodating, and helpful—something that was lacking here.|Final Verdict|• Pros:|✅ Beautiful vintage hotel with a luxurious feel|✅ Amazing location on Margaret Island—a green oasis in Budapest|✅ Excellent spa therapists – Susana, Judith, Monika were all fantastic|✅ Good transportation links to Budapest city center|• Cons:|❌ Thin walls – noise from neighboring rooms and they charge for small water bottles which is somehow weird in this day and age while water being a constant daily need. Especially for a 4 star hotel it is really not ok to charge for small water bottles in the room|❌ Unprofessional and sometimes rude spa reception staff|❌ Language barriers made service interactions difficult|Would We Return?|For the spa treatments and the island, yes. For the service, no. This is a one-time experience—worth visiting for the location, thermal spa, and treatments, but the hotel staff, especially at the spa reception, needs serious improvement in professionalism and customer service.|If you love thermal waters, saunas, mud packs, and massages in a beautiful, peaceful setting, give it a try—just be prepared for some service challenges.

Very old hotel, on the island in budapest. The problem with the island is you are reliant on taxis to get on and off the island, which gets expensive. (There is a bus, but you need to change to anywhere useful.) The rooms are not very bright and some only have a partial river view. The spa facilities in the adjacent hotel are very good and there is a medical centre including doctors and dentists for people who want to combine the stay with treatment. Breakfast was below average for a 4 star hotel.i have stayed in many. Staff a bit unfriendly.

It was a nice stay. Hotel is a bit outdated, but I really liked it, since all original details were there and I really did feel like I was in Agatha Christie novel. I even wished they would have gone a bit more old fashioned, to really feel like you time travelled in to 1920s. Reception was friendly, breakfast was good and had plenty of vegan options (could have had some potatoes to go with beans). Vegan honey was mindblowing and I kept looking for it everywhere on my trip. Couldn't find it sadly, but will be thinking about it probably for years! The beautiful grand room after reception could do with little bar, to enjoy that great interior. My absolutely favourite thing was the little bar with it's all original interior. Service was so kind and vegan strudel and drinks were great. Surroundings were nice too.

Excellent Stay – Highly Recommended! I had a fantastic experience at Ensana Grand Margaret Island. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome. Check-in was smooth and quick, and I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and comfort of the room. The bed was cozy, the bathroom spotless, and all amenities were in perfect working order. One of the highlights was the breakfast buffet. The spa truly exceeded my expectations and added to the overall enjoyment of my stay. The location is also ideal – close to city center, making it easy to explore the area. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, professional, and eager to help. I highly recommend Ensana Grand Margaret Island to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, and welcoming place to stay. I’ll definitely be back!

Nice and clean hotel with proper service at the reception. The spa with its possibilities to different sessions gives the customer a welcoming and professional first impression.||The link between Grand and Thermal worked well and was easy to navigate. ||Loud breakfast hall.

Double room: decent size, very comfortable bed. Air conditioning great. Breakfast: loads to choose from. Spa: nice and clean, plenty of space, easy access. Island: beautiful, nice walk in the morning and at night. Safe and plenty shades n the morning and afternoon and street light at night. Also some nice bars about 20 min walk towards the Margit Bridge entrance (Hotel located close to Àrpàd bridge.) Nice bar for drink and food right next to the hotel as well. One little idea for the hotel: would have been nice to have some moisturiser in the bathroom (nice to have some after the spa ) However we had a very good time and the Hotel was more than comfortable. We recommend 100%. Thanks

As regular guests of Ensana hotels, we decided to try this hotel on the recommendation of our friends. The hotel is located on Margaret Island surrounded by an amazing park. We were particularly impressed by the interiors of the hotel. We took a deluxe room, which had a balcony but was otherwise quite small. The breakfasts were very varied and the same goes for the dinners. I would have eaten to my taste even for someone who doesn't eat meat. The spa and dinner were served in the other hotel next door, but it is connected by an underground passageway, so you can easily go from one to the other with your feet. You can get to the centre by taking bus 26, where you change to the metro at its terminus, or you can walk. What spoiled our impression of the hotel was the room cleaning. I guess it depended on the mood of the cleaning lady. Several times we had to point out that all the towels were not replenished or the tea and coffee in the room was missing. Unfortunately housekeeping brings a bad view of the service of the hotel. Parking costs 15 euros per night, which is not much at first glance, but we would have expected more reasonable prices.
