I chose to stay here over the more modern sister hotel, as the architecture of this building is stunning. Pictures do not do it justice- the view from the island onto the Danube is breathtaking.
Buffet breakfast is served at the ground floor restaurant with an outdoor patio. The food served is mostly healthy but fresh and flavoursome. For a fee, they offer breakfast in your rooms from 5:30am.
The clientelle at this hotel are mostly more mature, but with a good mix of young adults.
The service at reception is inpeccable- welcoming, professional, and helpful!
The distance from the island to the city center or Parliment Sq is about thirty mins. Bolts and taxis arrived within five minutes during peak hours so that wasn't an issue. There is a bus and train access from the island and there is a walkway with steps to the bridge allowing for walking on and off.
There are several coffee shops in walking distance, off the island.
For coffee, I would recommend going to the sister hotel for excellent options.
I spent one of the days at the spa- accessed via a door on the ground floor- it's about a three min walk down the corridors. The spa needs about two hrs minimum in my opinion, and do ask to see a list of their treatments, including medical treatments. Very easy to book, but popular, so book in advance if possible. Excellent staff at the medical/ treatments reception.
They also have mineral thermal water fountains in the spa and tables with detox water throughout the grounds.
