My request for a last-minute rental was easily accommodated. We rented a car for a coup,e days to split off from my parents who were attending a nearby conference. Customer service on site was excellent. (That's where the 2 stars come from.....good initial CS and last minute accommodation.
The problems started when I went to return the car. For some absolutely insane reason Enterprise seals the two keys provided together on a non-separable ring. Guaranteeing that if you lock the keys in, you lock both in. So...both got locked in.
I called Enterprise roadside assistance, at 9 am. (The car was in a Campground in the mountains where there was no cell service, so I had to drive 15 minutes to make the call). I was asked where the vehicle was and provided both a description and gps input (unfortunately, the listed address is for the Sopris Ranger Starion in Carbondale) and was to,d to go wait with the vehicle.
It was 4 trips back down the mountain and 4 more calls before I got into the car AT 7:30 PM!!! I tried calling the Enterprise location all day to explain the situation and my call was never answered.
I was informed by roadside assistance that this would cost me $51 (but my personal insurance would reimburse me, I checked with them) and they did take that amount (and more) out of my $150 deposit.
I've tried calling again and again, but it seems that the staff has vanished. A week later, I was refunded $9 of my $150 deposit, and no receipt was ever emailed or sent. I was never provided a receipt for my roadside assistance to present to my insurance company, so I can't get that back either. Presumably, they charged me for an additional day's rental, but without a reciept, I'll never know. Enterprise lost NOTHING on my late rental, I returned the car to a FULL lot (I took the LAST parking spot).
I will NEVER rent from Enterprise again. I've called the Glenwood Springs location a dozen times or more, and no one answers. And calling the 800 number I get told I have to contact the Glenwood Springs location. Sealing both keys together is stupid, assenine, and only can cause problems (and according to the guy who finally found me and let me in to the car, if you separate the keys by cutting the cable they charge you hundreds to re-seal them). I cannot get a receipt for the roadside assistance, and no one will account for the remainder of my deposit which was kept.
NEVER AGAIN!
