Yelp
Truck-stop, roach motel disguised as a luxury tourist destination! We walked into a complete nightmare. It's a scam costing us $700 and we're mortified that we fell for it. Where do I begin?
First, the hotel is right along the only highway going through town, with 18-wheel tractor trailers going by every few minutes, as well as overall busy traffic. It's also the route on which all EMS, police, and fire travel therefore we have to hear that noise consistently as well. There are children running up and down the halls, stomping and yelling, even late at night. The old air conditioner they have in the room doesn't even mitigate the all-night noise, nor do I want to use an old air conditioner to try to cover up the sound in a $233/night motel.
Second, staff said we weren't able to reserve pool times until we checked in but when we checked in, all the time slots were taken except between 10&11pm at the indoor pool/hot tub area. Between 10&11pm is also the only "adult only" time slot there is, meaning from 8am to 10pm, both indoor and outdoor pools/hot tubs are overrun by children (and even from 10-11pm because naturally people break the rules).
Third, the decor is old, atrocious, and kitschy. There's old dirt brown carpet, stenciled ribbons with weird branches painted above the bed, and a rust-colored, uncomfortable armchair that wouldn't be picked up if left on the sidewalk for free. The bathroom is updated but, inexplicably, there's a $2 outdoor plastic chair in the corner.
Fourth, staff are condescending and inappropriate. We told the younger female staff working the front desk in the afternoon about our concerns with the road noise and asked to speak to the manager about our overall dissatisfaction. She said, "We don't have a manager here. And um, the traffic USUALLY dies down at night." No manager? The traffic might die down? Well, it's 11:30pm and we're still listening to 18-wheel, tractor trailers rumble loudly by.
Fifth, the girl that checked us in who condescendingly shrugged when we told her our concerns was also badmouthing someone else who had complained along with her female coworker - blatantly in front of us - as we were walking by. The front desk staff working at and after 5pm on 8/28/20 showed no respect for the guests' legitimate complaints nor for the quality of the guests' stay. Instead, they disparaged and gossiped about couples and families who expressed concerns about this motel, who also were duped into spending an outrageous amount of money on the awful conditions they and we are getting.
Sixth, they require a 3-night minimum stay, guaranteeing at least $700 from every guest that gets scammed. As far as I can tell there's no recourse for this hell because it says no refunds in the confirmation email and we don't even know if we can speak with a manager.
Seventh, the only staff we've seen at the motel are the two young girls at the front desk. We've seen no staff doing any cleaning, providing room service, nor helping people bring in their luggage.
Eighth, they're paying people to write positive reviews. Somehow amidst this hell, Enzian Inn and other "hotels" along the highway maintain a nearly 5-star review average.
I'm horrified by this motel as well as this town; both are constructed scams built on smoke and mirrors to deceive people into spending money on nothing. The "Bavarian" aspect of this tiny town was thought up by the people losing money after the railroad money left. The only thing to do here is walk on a two-to-three block walkway where you can buy throwaway souvenirs and over-priced food. They recruit tourists to Leavenworth for one reason only: to be extorted for money without getting any quality in return.
