Have gone twice to this place and am hoping to go for a third time soon.
Very cute/hip on the inside. It's small, so maybe call ahead if you want to bring more than a few people. You have to exit from the outside and then walk down a little hallway to get to their suite, but it's very cozy and cute inside.
Lots of great options for plants, sands, soils, etc. and the staff are very knowledgeable and care about plants a lot! :). Also, they have lots of fun add-one you can put in your terrarium at the end (lots are free and there are several nice ceramic ones that cost extra).
I gave it a four star because it's a little bit pricey- I believe it's about $30 for a terrarium with one succulent/cactus inside- and small. The smallness can make it feel a little awkward sometimes. But overall very good quality and I have always thought the ones I've made/helped make turned on just beautiful.
The experience is very unique. You choose your plant, soil, sand, and moss. The staff then guides you through scooping however much of this and that into the glass. Then you pay things down/smooth them out/spray them with water a certain number of times. Then, finally you decorate it with add-ons--pieces of bark/tiny fake flowers/ceramic Totoro statues, etc. It kind of feels like Build-a-bear for adults: a magical, guided experience that leaves you with something really pretty that you made!
Also, if your plant starts having trouble, you can send them a picture and they'll tell you how to fix it. They are, first and foremost, a plant nursery, so they really are all about helping your plant grow and be healthy. Additionally, if your plant outgrows it's container, I believe you can come back and they'll pot it in a bigger one for a discounted price? Maybe ask, cuz I can't remember exactly what it would cost but it was definitely reasonable.
Overall, making terrariums here is a really great experience. It can be a little awkward when you've got a group and then someone else walks in, because it gets tight and stuff. However, it's just really special overall--especially if you can go at a time where there will be fewer people out (like maybe a weekday).
Additionally, be prepared to make some choices quickly. The staff member guiding you through making a terrarium will wait til you have chosen each item to lead you through the fun putting it together part, and it's a little awkward if you take a super long time to decide.
