This is our 3rd time here and can't wait to return to make another terrarium! You pay for the vase, the plants (2) are included, there is a guide (ours was awesome but I didn't catch her name!) that will walk you thru step by step with different options for rock, sand and moss. Then there are decorations to add, a table of free items, and you can purchase add ons to decorate it. They also have plants and stickers, a little bit of jewelry. All around it's an awesome place!!!

Google
this is a cute place! my friends took me to this place so we could build a terrarium, that was a really fun thing to do. I would go back to this place again when I visit Texas tbh, they do have cute selections for glass they have two different succulents you could pick- constant sunlight or temperature controlled device with 1-2 time a week watering it was around $30 + few mini figure I got so it adds up few more dollars. I think it’s worth the price!

Cannot beat a wonderful day with family to put together a terrarium. I took my grandsons & they all loved it! Matt (our instructor) lead our class with patience, while adding fun to learning about cactus, translucence and tropical plants. Priced about right for what you get, but what I really liked about it, was that if a plant dies you can bring in your terrarium and replace the plant at the cost of the new plant without having to start all over. You pick out the terrarium first, add in layers of sand, rocks, moss, and charcoal, prepared dirt; then add the plants topped off with a covering and decorations. Price is based on the size/type of container, and includes two plants with supplies from a wide range of opt. You can upgrade by adding additional plants or pay more for some specific plants. Same with additional priced decorations available. Though there are plenty of options without upgrading. Attached are pictures from our group of six. I have to really give kudos to Matt (our teacher) as we were wrapping up, multiple people walked in. He remained calm and approachable, and took care of everyone, though it was very crowed & loud in such a small area. That was very impressive! Very much enjoyed the experience!

My husband and I went here for a date for our wedding anniversary. We built our own terrariums. It was so much fun! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They really help you make your terrarium look great. And you get to be creative and pick out cute little miniatures to put inside! I would highly recommend coming here.

Google
We had an amazing time picking out plants for our terrarium and decorating it. Staff was very friendly kind and helpful and I felt the prices were fair. I was able to meet the owners at a craft fair too they seemed lovely and got a nice little plant from them.

Marlene Zamora

Google
We had a great time making these! If you're a newbie to this like we were, someone will walk you through how to build your terrarium. They also tell you how to care for it afterwards. You can pick from a variety of price ranges based on the container you choose. The price includes all the base materials and some decorative sands and figures/toys. There is an additional cost for certain types of figures/toys and those are priced individually, but nothing more than an additional dollar or so based on what you pick. I thought this was worth the money for the experience and what you get to take home with you!

Google
I visited Ephemera with my sisters to build a terrarium. Matthew, our instructor, was fun and patient as he went through each step. The other young lady on staff was very helpful and polite I love my terrarium and we were told if we have any problems with the plants to contact them and they will help us. We had fun - it's a great shop!

Madeline Benitez

Google
We had a great experience with Mathew. This was so cool and fun to make, thank you.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to visit Ephemera forever, and I ended up going at the perfect time. It's wasn't too too busy on a weekday late afternoon. It was just lively enough -- there was a couple making a pretty large terrarium together and a handful of others who came in and out to buy a small plant or little knickknack, and this shop is bursting with both. You'll find all kinds of beautiful houseplants (will yours live in the sun or shade?), a variety of containers (terrariums!) in every size and shape, and endless decorative goodies to personalize your new plant-home with: crystals, pebbles, dried flowers and leaves, tiny toys and figurines, glitter and gemstones. For $25 you can choose a small plant, a small terrarium, and then have access to a specific assortment of decorative items. You can purchase any other knickknacks and doodads that speak to you, haha. They seriously have tiny figurine versions of everything... animals, superheroes, food items, zombies and aliens, cars, cartoon characters, seasonal stuff. I chose a little witch and tiny barn owl to add to my terrarium. It's the cutest thing ever! And the guy who sold it to me and walked me through the whole process was really cool and funny. He made everyone in the store feel comfortable and proud of what they were doing, haha, but he didn't hover! He was just a cool guy who seemed to like his job, which is really nice to see. I have so many ideas for more terrariums, both for both myself and as gifts!! I'll be back soon.

Whitney H.

Yelp
This was such a fun experience! It was fun to be able to pick out everything and then have them explain each step and how it is important for the plants you pick for the terrarium. They were super helpful to explain what is best for the plants. Definitely will be coming back again.

Maria R.

Yelp
This was a great experience! Our plant guide was so helpful, nice, and a great conversationalist. He explained the process, gave recommendations, and walked us through the creating process. I will be coming back.

Bao V.

Yelp
I have so much fun with my daughter making Terrariums!!! They will help you if have any question. So easy to take care and it so cute

Yelp
This is one great little plant shop, buried on the corner of a little strip center on Magnolia. I had an extra day off and (because I'm into her) recommended we go by this place that came up on a search for new restaurants to try. Plants aren't so much my thing, but I deeply appreciate the time and patience she puts into the flourishing fauna inside and outside our home. So, off we went to see what's up at Ephemera. The store is small and packed with thriving, vibrant plants in cool little spaces. All of them are ragingly happy and colorful. Living with a plant person, you start talking about plant's in terms of human emotions. Idk, it just rubs off. So, yeah. The plants here are really joyful. I wish I had gotten the name of the guy we talked to. He clearly has a strong connection to plants and is very knowledgeable, having a certain glee in sharing what he knows with likeminded people. Are your Monstera not fenestrating? Unsure whether perlite or wood chips are better for your soil mix? These guys can help you figure it out. We took home a jubilant little Alocasia Bambino. We will definitely be back.

Gustavo R.

Yelp
Ephemera Terrariums is a Terrific Terrarium Tavern! Your time won't be ephemeral here.. there is so much to look at! From a variety of plant species to tiny toys for your terrarium - you'll find yourself wanting to become a plant parent. The passion the team here has for their craft shows through their work here! I saw so many passionate plant-lovers having the time of their life here and joking around with the staff. Cheers, ephemera! I can't wait to be back & make a terrarium of my own!

Blessing B.

Yelp
This plant shop is located around other local shops in the downtown Fortworth area. There is parking available in the front of the store and the side of the store. Once I stepped inside I was glad I stopped by. They have an extensive collection of plants, David was helpful with showing me low maintenance plants. They have comic books, offer build your own terrarium classes, stickers/pins for sales as well as miniature toys. They have glassware available for the terrarium as well. I picked up a pin, stickers and a Rama verde peperomia plant. They have plant holders available as well. The prices for plants are affordable and I love how warm and inviting the plant shop is. I will defeinitely be back.

Jaclyn L.

Yelp
This place is so cool!!! We attended a class on terrarium building, and everything is included in the price of the pot! They have a "warranty" that if something happens to the plant you take the terrarium back, and they'll replace for the cost of the plant! Given my history record, I like that warranty! Super cute shop, prices are good for the quality, and they're customer service and plant help is amazing. Love this place, will be back!

Alysa H.

Yelp
DO not pay attention to one negative review. You HAVE to check this place out!! It is the cutest store. The BEST customer service. We did a class and it was educational and fun. I can't remember the person who helped us but I think he may be the owner (not sure). He was so positive and made it so easy and enjoyable! If you like plants in general or just want something different to do, this is it! Such an enjoyable afternoon. I'm scheduling another class tomorrow for my daughter and I, it was that cool!

Wendy O.

Yelp
Went here for a date night adventure with the hubs. We loved it and highly recommend the Build Your Own Terrarium class. Matthew was very knowledgeable and helpful. Great value for your money too!

Roanne T.

Yelp
Quaint plant shop with unique pots, jars, stones, rope pot hangers, plant art and more. We were out of town visiting otherwise I would've gotten something!

Deanna B.

Yelp
I went here for a birthday outing with a few of my friends..and I loved this place! You pick a base or holding container for your plants and the staff walks you through the rest. You pick a plant(a), build the ecosystem for your plant with rocks, soil, moss/mulch, and then finally decorate your terrarium. A very fun activity for small or large groups. The staff cares about your needs and offers up a lifetime insurance policy. They also provide you with take home instructions, a cell phone number to text, and an email address to reach out to them with questions or issues your plants are having. The venue, staff, activity, and even the music is great. I already want to go back and make another. Definitely recommend to everyone to try it out if you're wanting to try something new!

Avantika B.

Yelp
This is such a cute plant shop i came across while walking in the area. I am a plant lover and going to this shop gave me joy. It was a very unique and plant-shop apt decor. My questions were answered very precisely and told me that they give life long support for plant care. I ended up buying royal highness gasterialoe. If you love plants and terrariums, definitely visit...

Kami M.

Yelp
this was the best idea for date day! the staff was super friendly and walked us through every step with some advice as well for aftercare! The best part about this business is that you can take your terrariums back to them when your plant babies are growing too big & they'll propagate the older plants AND plant new ones in there for you! It's been such a cool bonding experience for my fiancé & I to watch our plant babies grow and start a little plant family in our home! It's totally worth the money and the owner is the sweetes

Viviana F.

Yelp
Very cute shop, went to build a terrarium, everything was explained in depth and they let you know what happens. It was a very lovely experience! Definitely recommend for any plant lovers, they have more than that and they have many other plants!

Fatimah N.

Yelp
Ok I see y'all don't want to get back to me well, I guess what I said just showed me what I was thinking, that your hidden racism because being quiet said a lot. So I won't be back at your store because you pretty much showed me just who you want to shop there. And I'll make sure I let people know. And as far as my question for this plant I'll ask some one else. And I only gave one star is because I had to. Look some ppl when it comes to there business show you just who they want to shop in their store. If your not the rice race then you won't get the full service like their own you won't get told to much of nothing but if you like to give ppl money that don't give the full service like for their own then go here.

Rachel W.

Yelp
Did a "build your own terrarium" class here with a couple of friends for my birthday and it was awesome. Amanda, the instructor for us, knew her plants and had useful plant care tips. She did a great job of explaining every step. The class was fun & enjoyable. The store itself has such a cool vibe and great selection of healthy plants, decor, and accessories. The store feels like a hidden gem you don't wanna miss. I would definitely come back!

Lorett Y.

Yelp
Fantastic experience. We enjoyed this as a family so much. You pick out your container and they walk you through building your terrarium. It was educational and fun!

Jen D.

Yelp
I came here On Saturday with a couple of girlfriends and we had a BLAST! I'd been trying to bring them here for forever and we finally were able to get together to make our terrariums. The space is very large and accommodating. I was surprised at how many people walked in before us, while we were there and after us. The process is super easy: Pick a container, pick your plant(s). They walk you thru putting it together and they tell you how to take care of your plant(s). Then you get to pick the fun stuff to make your terrarium your personal little thing. So.Much.FUN. highly recommended to bring friends for this and family/kids. This is in the foodie area of Magnolia, so you can do this and then run and have a great lunch/dinner and desserts as well.

Karissa S.

Yelp
Such a cute little shop! We kind of found it by happenstance, easy to miss if you're just passing through. But definitely worth a stop and look through. When you first walk into the place, it's a cute little space. There are plants of different kinds and sizes in planters everywhere. As well as different terrariums decorating the place. There is a magazine rack with different comics as well, if you're interested in looking through those as well. When you walk past the main little entrance, there's a bit bigger space. There are tables, moss, dirt, different containers (for terrariums), and even more plants to choose from. I ended up buying one of the succulents and one of the low light plants. They have so many tiny baby plants, they are ADORABLE. One of the things I really liked about this place is if you buy a plant from them, they give you a little paper with information about the plant. They also give you their contact info to ask questions about the plants you buy, in case you need care tips/advice. Especially if you are a first time plant mom (like me!). They seem to let you build your terrarium in store, and they have so much to choose from to put in your terrarium. Will definitely return. Also, seems to be child friendly as well as just a cool place to come build a terrarium with your kids.

Amy D.

Yelp
Succulents are very popular and Ephemera adds a little twist. They sell comic books in addition to making your own terrarium. Not only can you choose your own unique container to make one, but you can also add little comic characters, colored rocks, and other items. I spent a little less than an hour picking my container, succulent, and perfecting the additions. The containers can get very pricey (the price on the container is for one plant and all materials). I wonder if they would give a discount for bringing in your own container. The cat one pictured was $20. They also have plenty of completed terrariums to choose from. The owner was very helpful giving us step by step instructions and tips for how to decorate. The owners also gave complete instruction on how to take care of the succulent. Overall, it was a great experience.

Chloe C.

Yelp
Came here earlier today on a date and had the best time. Matthew walked us through the build-your-own terrarium class and was very helpful. He was funny, kind, and knowledgeable. Overall, it was a great and affordable experience. Thank you Matthew!

Ryan B.

Yelp
Not to be forgotten. My first time in Fort Worth I wandered down Magnolia one night and saw the soft light emitting from a storefront window. Peeking inside, I found a whimsical world of Ephemera. Tiny terrariums. Creatures/tokens serving the as vegetarian guardians. Natural energy. Unfortunately, they were closed at this hour, but that image stuck with me. Seven months later I found myself back on Magnolia, and I knew I had to return. The store moved around the corner, but inside Ephemera was even more whimsical, energetic, and large. Stations for making your own terrariums line the middle, while the outside edges are dedicated to plant options, decorations, and vessels to support your little world. Magical. Having a plant obsessed friend, I knew I had to get her something for her upcoming Birthday, and I wanted it to be something I've only seen at Ephemera. I don't think I've ever seen an air plant turned into a Jellyfish, have you? Thanks to the friendly staff for making this storefront a lively spot in the world, and for the help picking out this unique gift. Pro Tip: Air Plants (as of this review) can fly in your carry-on luggage. That's how I'm getting this darling to my best friend for her birthday.

Dana W.

Yelp
Sues was so sweet and caring. Her store is so cute. We are visiting from Vegas and she gave us the whole breakdown of her store and some plant information for plants you should and shouldn't have in Vegas.

Kristen T.

Yelp
This vibe here is welcoming and creative. All the plant I purchased from here were in great health. The staff are helpful and informative.. This shop is perfect for all from avid plant lover to a beginner.

Savannah T.

Yelp
Love this lil place!! I took my friend here for her birthday and we had a blast. Lots of fun options for plants.

Lisa P.

Yelp
How very disappointing ! We felt like We were invading someone's personal space. The young lady working seemed put out. She was very rude. My son really wanted to make one but, she was totally rude. She was so busy making her own she didn't have time for us. So we left. VERY disappointed. Here is the thing Fort Worth may be big but, it's really small and with customer service like this you won't be around for long. I really hope that the young lady wasn't an owner.

Vivian H.

Yelp
A small little corner tucked away in southside fort worth, I feel so blessed to have found this place. Walking in and I immediately felt like I'm in a different world! This place let you build your own terrarium, and if you buy one of their containers it comes with everything. The store will provide you all the soil and mosses so you can decorate to your hearts content. Any purchase comes with a free plant, if you need to get more than 1 then its usually $3-4 per extra plants. They have both low light plants and succulents. They also have a small table that have all the decoration you can use for free, only the one on the shelves cost money. Usually they will show you step by step to how to decorate so don't worry if you have no idea how to do it. I've been here twice and both times I came out super happy. I will be back.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Ephemera is a place where you build your own succulent terrariums. This shop is very small, only able to accommodate a couple of people at a time. Despite their small size, they have a vast selection of succulents, rocks, soils, grasses, and little trinkets you can put in your terrariums (which they also supply). The owners are a very sweet couple. They walk you through each step of the process explaining why you have to lay down certain materials. It was such a fun experience for me and my mom on our girls day out! I absolutely recommend it to anyone. Also let me just say this! I drove my little terrarium all the way back to Ohio from Texas. I accidentally uprooted my little cactus, like, four times in the process (poor little guy). And he still survived!! Crazy.

Richard H.

Yelp
I decided to finally confirm my e-mail just for this review. First and foremost, I had a wonderful experience at Ephemera. The employee working there was great at explaining everything there is to know about nurturing succulents and was helpful when my girlfriend and I were deciding on a terrarium. What made this experience unique was the freedom to customize and get creative with how your terrarium looked. Ephemera provides you with a good range of terrariums, succulents, trinkets, and materials that allow you to make the set feel like your own. Would definitely come back again.

Michaela B.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this local gem. Frank was super helpful and made making our first terrarium a lot of fun! Good price, better information, and helpful owners who exude inclusion and community.

Schye C.

Yelp
LOVE this place. I go here to buy most of my plants, and I follow their Instagram to find out what new plants are in stock each week. I agree with the pricing and I love the variety. The place itself is cute and I think it's just the right size. The employees are very nice and easy to talk to, and as someone with social anxiety it puts me at ease feeling comfortable asking questions about the plants.

Julie M.

Yelp
What a fun outing. The Manager was so pleasant and passionate about her job and the shop. It's not cheap but you leave with a wonderful product and have had a great experience building your own terrarium.

Jay A.

Yelp
So stinkin cute! I stopped by to get a terrarium for a gift. I was tired from work and not feeling creative so an employee made one for me. She was very informative and helpful. Love all the little toys and trinkets you can add in. It turned out so cute! Looking forward to coming back to build my own.

Hannah R.

Yelp
Love this little spot. So cute and fun. A little over priced. Well managed and something to cherish for a long time. Makes great gifts too! Knowledgeable owners. Pretty damn neat :) good for all ages.

Alec J.

Yelp
Friends; Understand that I know nothing about plants, that I know nothing about keeping things alive (other than my 7 month old child), and that I love what Fort Worth is growing(you're welcome) into. Enter Terrariums via Ephemera; My wife and I started a date night here, after hitting up La Zona for cocktails and tapas next door (a highly recommended thirty second walk), and it was seriously a lot of fun. The girl helping was fantastic and kind, the planting process was fun and had enough details to make you feel like you were involved in the project, and the toys on the shelf you get to decorate with are pretty entertaining. We ended up recreating a small scene from Jurassic World involving a dinosaur, and naturally, a man being eaten, beneath the shadow of a giant cactus. Looking for a creative start to your date night? Come here. Oh, and just so you know, if you're short on change for cocktails next door, it's BYOB. Enjoy!

Jaime M.

Yelp
All the staff is really nice! They would answer any question you have about any plant and even ask you to send pictures and they would be able to help you more! All the plants look amazing and alive and they always have a great selection. As well if you are looking for an activity to do with friends or alone you can build your own terrariums!

Carlye H.

Yelp
Have gone twice to this place and am hoping to go for a third time soon. Very cute/hip on the inside. It's small, so maybe call ahead if you want to bring more than a few people. You have to exit from the outside and then walk down a little hallway to get to their suite, but it's very cozy and cute inside. Lots of great options for plants, sands, soils, etc. and the staff are very knowledgeable and care about plants a lot! :). Also, they have lots of fun add-one you can put in your terrarium at the end (lots are free and there are several nice ceramic ones that cost extra). I gave it a four star because it's a little bit pricey- I believe it's about $30 for a terrarium with one succulent/cactus inside- and small. The smallness can make it feel a little awkward sometimes. But overall very good quality and I have always thought the ones I've made/helped make turned on just beautiful. The experience is very unique. You choose your plant, soil, sand, and moss. The staff then guides you through scooping however much of this and that into the glass. Then you pay things down/smooth them out/spray them with water a certain number of times. Then, finally you decorate it with add-ons--pieces of bark/tiny fake flowers/ceramic Totoro statues, etc. It kind of feels like Build-a-bear for adults: a magical, guided experience that leaves you with something really pretty that you made! Also, if your plant starts having trouble, you can send them a picture and they'll tell you how to fix it. They are, first and foremost, a plant nursery, so they really are all about helping your plant grow and be healthy. Additionally, if your plant outgrows it's container, I believe you can come back and they'll pot it in a bigger one for a discounted price? Maybe ask, cuz I can't remember exactly what it would cost but it was definitely reasonable. Overall, making terrariums here is a really great experience. It can be a little awkward when you've got a group and then someone else walks in, because it gets tight and stuff. However, it's just really special overall--especially if you can go at a time where there will be fewer people out (like maybe a weekday). Additionally, be prepared to make some choices quickly. The staff member guiding you through making a terrarium will wait til you have chosen each item to lead you through the fun putting it together part, and it's a little awkward if you take a super long time to decide.

Lauren M.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! I keep cacti and succulents at home, but I learned so much about caring for them while at ephemera. I didn't have an appointment, but my hubby and I were greeted by staff the moment we walked in. A staff member then paired with us to explain the process and guide us as we built our own. I like how user friendly their set up is. And No hidden fees! They explain up front that your container includes everything! And if you want to add more than your allotment you can. The staff is very knowledgeable and was able to explain each layer to me. *you pick out what color you want for each layer as well!!* The decoration station is hilarious. If you want to add small figurines or dinosaurs you can! I had a blast and plan to go back with friends, and family! It's A MUST!

Edie F.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to go to when I'm back home in Fort Worth!!! Seriously. The nicest and most helpful staff. The cutest store. The best plants. I love it all. This place is a MUST to visit while in the Fort. I also go here to buy gifts and to make cute terrariums for my apartment! The build your own terrarium class is the coolest thing ever.

Haley A.

Yelp
I really love this place. I've been coming to them since the beginning. I love the atmosphere and prices. My only complaint is I've seen the male owner be pretty rude to his employees. He's spoken harshly to them on more than one occasion that I've been there. They have always been great and very helpful.

Liz M.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place and the theme of it! The staff is very attentive when helping with the terrarium making process and don't try to rush you at all! The plants are all healthy and lush. The comic section has a strong selection too! My only concern is the pricing. Some of the terrarium pricing is a tad unreasonable. Still a nice little store to visit on occasion!

Sarah S.

Yelp
We had a appointment to make terrariums. The experience was SO fun. There was so many choices to make. By the end of it, we both love our terrariums and can't wait to come back again. I've been telling all my friends to come by.

Kelly B.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Such great gift ideas and wonderful couple that runs it!!! A must while in Fort Worth

Katie C.

Yelp
This place is literally the cutest. Ephemera just moved to a bigger space in the same building, so there is a lot more room to make your terrarium in. It's not the cheapest ($35 for a glass bowl terrarium, including a plant, gravel, sand, basic decor, etc.), but there are littler things you can buy that aren't as pricey. The staff did a great job showing me and my friends how to make our terrariums, and they were all very kind. I had a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend Ephemera to y'all!

Kim L.

Yelp
This is a cute little place to create your own succulent terrarium. The person helping us was really friendly and walked us through the whole process. The prices for the glass jars were a little high, but they come in unique shapes.
