"Epicurean Delight Opened in 1871 as a general store, J.A .Moisan is now specialty foods store. When I’m in Old Québec, it’s my go-to place for items for a picnic lunch or lazy dinner. Stepping inside J.A. Moisan, you're greeted by old world charm—a dark, wood-filled room crammed with foodstuffs. I feel like I’ve been transported back to the 1870s. There are two sets of entry doors. I always enter in on the right side because those take me straight to the deli counter. There I will find the delicious pates, terrines, and cheeses that my epicurean heart pines for. With restraint, I pick out a few items. Into my picnic bag will go a baguette, a box of crackers, some fruit, and drinks. But what picnic lunch would be complete without dessert, and who makes better desserts than the French? Seriously. Just around the corner from the deli counter is the desserts counter. As I near it, I always seem to hear Madame Mille-Feuille calling me, and if they have Napoleons, I have to have some. I confess that there have been days when one dessert goes into the picnic bag and the other is devoured before I even leave the store. J.A. Moisan has a small cafe section with a few tables. Before I leave, I head to the shelves stocked with "produit d’erable" which, in my mind, translates to yummy stuff made with the goodness of maple syrup. I pick up a few items for my own pantry and as gifts for friends. If you’re a foodie visiting Old Québec, J.A. Moisan is worth a visit. Bring a big bag!"

Ah! So very cool here! What a nice grocery/snack store this is! My friend took me here when I was visiting so he can show me. It’s apparently the oldest in the city. It’s kind of small and narrow but it has excellent products and the wine section in the very back is amazing! Just be aware that you can’t buy a beer and crack it open when if you decide to have a bite to eat there at one of their tables. They’re not licensed. I nearly did it 😂 I recommend paying a visit here. 👍😎

The store has existed since 1871 and maintains an ancient and prestigious atmosphere. The supply in the store includes wines, dips, cakes, canned goods, sausages and cheeses. I tried the milfay cake and it was good but the leaves were too hard.

It is amazing the way the keep it so real to the old times. Every time you get inside it feels as if you have travel in time. All the products they sell match together to each other. Whatever they sell the packaging is amazing. Is a great place for graphic designers or illustrators who wants to make a research in situ of many different vintage typos and logos. Highly recommend.

Living in Montreal for many years, I have not found any grocery shop compared to here. You can get all of grocery needs with premium quality especially fantastic cheese options and all food spices. Definitely the prices are slightly higher but worth it if quality matters for you.

What a delightful, historic, yet full-featured grocery emporium! Stepping in the door is a step back in time. Yet you will find most anything you need and more, with a very helpful staff. Specialty items are their pride and joy. Well worth the walk from Old Town.

Nice, old décor and atmosphere. Beers, wines, pastries, packaged foods. Fun to browse. Café seating at the front. Not a good place for vegans.

Nice looking grocery store but they have a minimum requirement of $10 for credit card payment and wouldn't accept US dollars. That's unfortunate and left empty handed.

A foodies' dream. There are foods in here that I'd never heard of before and for anyone who likes cooking and experimenting with food, the ideas for unusual but authentic foods are great. 4 stars due to it being expensive and I found another store that was bigger and cheaper with more options, but in the centre of a city, it was unusual to find one like this. To be fair to them also, even the overpriced things in there for local food was still cheaper than the tourist targeting shops.
