This wasn't our first visit to Epiphany as we are former wine club members. We arrived with a group of 8, two of whom are current Epiphany Wine club members and we were seated on the south side under the newer roof patio area. So far, good. Unfortunately, that was a good as it got. We had a male server, the name escaped us ,who really didn't seem to care about us at all. We had to ask for the flight menu after being seated. Another person brought some menus to us.
Most in our group chose the wine flight, while two choose the sparkling wine flight. Starting with the first pour, our server never explained what we were drinking, where the grapes were grown, etc. We just relied on the flight menu to see what we were drinking. On the 3rd pour, the server came to us and said, "this isn't the Syrah on the menu, we don't have that.....this is a lesser Syrah"......and promptly left. He did the same thing on the next poor and one of our group, asked him as he was walking away once gain, "excuse me, what are we drinking?" he came back to her position at the table and mumbled something that most of us couldn't understand. We did notice though, he spent time with two other large groups, on either side of us, even sitting down with them and chatting.
This was hands down one of the worst wine tastings we've ever experienced. I'm not reviewing the wines, they we not the issues. It was the complete and utter ignorance and indifference the server exhibited towards our group. We've crossed off Epiphany from our list when visiting Los Olivos.
