Epoch Coffee - Far West

Love the atmosphere. Bright, oddly tropical or Caribbean, and lots of space to relax in. The coffee, on the other hand, was “just okay”. Of course I love a good coffee and I have drank coffee all over the world, but it seems like this one was a bit burnt and lacked consistency all the way through. Nothing wrong with that, of course, if that’s your jam…but it did leave me a bit disappointed. Barista was nice and she was quite efficient at the machine. I got a latte while my wife got a cappuccino.

My first and last time at this place. Overprised reheated food. Probably from frozen as the tamal crumbles oddly, and it is dry. Staff looked down their nose at me as I was ordering and asking questions. Super unwelcoming and borderline rude. Most certainly, I will not be coming back. Looks like a nice place to read or work, if good food and or coffee is not your priority.

Vibes are off here. Rude front dark haired lady. Coffee not worth the price. Go to sorrento’s or something that’s not a chain instead. For context, I come here often and recently found you can bring your own cup for coffee. Today was my first day to bring in my own cup from home, I was so excited to do this. I freshly washed it and as I asked the employee lady/person if I could use it, and they said yes. Then I said oh I washed it and there were a few droplets of water still in the cup and I whipped it towards the ground just to get those droplets off and she rudely said “could you not put water on the floor!” and I said it wasn’t water just residue she goes “wwwwell water on the floor will make people slip..” in such a condescending tone like a was a child.. I’m well aware that water makes people slip, but this wasn’t the case and she was barely paying attention to me anyways.. I wouldn’t have poured water on the ground. They were just unnecessarily rude. Not pleasant at all. I grabbed my cup back and left, and wont come back. Too many good coffee spots in the neighborhood to not have good service.

Super rude staff and the music sounded like Mario kart video game on steroids I should’ve walked out before ordering. Latte was way too milky

Had a breakfast taco and a chai tea latte and both were excellent. The vibe at this coffee shop is on point. There is plenty of seating, great light, good wifi, and a community atmosphere. A great place to hang out and work for a couple of hours.

Really nice coffee shop. The inside has a great feel. Their black coffee was great but has a lot of other tasty looking drinks.

Great coffee, work, and social space in a freestanding building at the top of the hill on Far West. Extensive coffee menu, including blendys. I enjoyed their horchata and a drip coffee. This location has two rooms of seating and a small covered patio. There's even a chair massager doing business at the end of the coffee bar. Board games and books. A fun place to spend an afternoon. There's a small free parking lot wrapped around the building and shared with adjacent businesses.

The coffee was good and the service was fine, but the music selection was god-awful and much too loud. If the intent was to drive people away, it worked. It felt more like being in a club on 6th Street than a coffee shop. Not a pleasant hang out at all.

Nice quiet spot. Pretty excited about the chair massages and hope to try it sometime! They had some unique coffee processes. Enjoyed trying the Ethiopian Guji. Great service!

I tried the blueberry matcha ($6). I saw that it was on the special menu, so I last minute decided to order that. The server recommended it, saying that the blueberry flavor was pretty strong. So I had high expectations! Sadly, I did not really like this drink. It tasted watered down, even when I asked for less ice. I BARELY tasted the blueberry, it was only a very brief taste at the beginning of the sip. The matcha tasted okay. Lots of cool seating inside. Servers were nice!! Maybe their food or pastries are better.

If you're looking to get work done in a very quiet place, it's definitely the spot although I've always found a cool feature of the semi underground seating area that they have.

What a good morning to get coffee and sit on a patio. This spot is at the top of my list for coffee shops in Austin. Walking in you are greeted by staff and lots of clean oxygen from all their plants. The coffee was great and we were able to order and were served within 5 mini of walking in. Great service and good coffee.

This Epoch Coffee is small and intimate compared to the one on North Loop. I usually only come here to buy coffee beans. I love the inside of this coffee shop because it has so much natural light from the windows and the plants make it feel so lively. They have a huge table in the middle which is kind of community style seating. They also have a few smaller tables in the back corner and a few couches. The parking lot is pretty small but I think you can park on the street. My only con to this coffee shop is that the baristas could be nicer :)

Nice little coffee shop tucked away in the Northwest Hills neighborhood. One lady taking the orders, making the espresso drinks and trying to keep all the customers happy. Service times would be much shorter if they had someone helping this rockstar out. Latte was good - decent espresso- much better than most - good aroma and taste. Seating a little cramped, but manageable. This was my first visit to this location... I will be back

FIVE STARS for a wonderful ambiance. This Epoch Coffee location is such a vibe. My partner had me try this place while I was up in Austin one day (as it is one of their favorite coffee shops). I ordered an iced matcha green tea latte which was light, but just PERFECT. My partner ordered an iced americano. The staff were great and super friendly. Next time I am up in Austin, you know where I will be hitting up in the A.M.!

I really like this coffee house. There are two entrances (easy entrance from multiple parking locations).  There are tables of different sizes throughout the two rooms. This allows group meet-ups or small private conversations. The coffee, tea, cidar, and hot chocolate all taste wonderful.  They also provide really good service. If you're interested, they have merchandise for sale and have chair massages available for sign up.

I think I can count on my hand the number of times a coffee place has made me do a double take (double sip?) when their drink is so good. Just a fun place to hang out and either work or sot with friends for a few hours. Their staff has always been kind and offers good suggestions on drinks. Their horchata blendie (blendie is such a cute name) is a favorite of mine, and the chai. That's it that's the review the chai I just thoroughly enjoy coming here. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to try their food because they have been sold out each time I went to try it, so I hope that speaks to its quality.

Introvert heaven. The space is industrial which is cool but not ideal for conversations and tends to be loud. Menu is typical coffee shop and the service not great unless you like rude baristas and then it's fine.

A fairly okay study spot, light streaming in, not too busy, kind servers and good wifi. Not the most comfortable seats and I didn't love the food (gluten free lemon poppy) and coffee.

I ordered the 1/2 iced mojo and thought it was pretty good! Not too sweet. Free WiFi, plenty of parking spaces, one outlet. Good ambience and study spot overall - the music is a bit loud.

I am typing this review as music that makes me feel like I am being chased in the jungle is blasting. Pretty much everybody in the cafe is working or studying, but the loud, dissonant music is not conducive to a good work environment. They have very few outlets. I recommend they invest in a few charging stations. It is also too cold inside. I had the iced mojo, and it was really good and sweet, although $4.50 is quite expensive.

This is such a fantastic coffee shop - I love getting work done here ! The staff is great, very kind and helpful, and the coffee itself is delicious. Make sure to ask if there are any specials as they are constantly adding new and interesting things to try. Every time I've been in the people working have been attentive and helpful, giving suggestions and making friendly conversation. There's a lot of natural light and many people happily working away - plus great music. My favorite is the iced matcha latte - this is the only place I've been in Austin that doesn't serve it sickeningly sweet !

Such a cute coffee shop! The atmosphere was so inviting and calm. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but I had the apple cider and it was delicious. I will definitely be coming back.

Very good coffee and great customer service. They crank the AC though, so bring a jacket!

I love coming here to study. The interior is nicely decorated and very cozy. The service is quick. I highly recommend their matcha. It's the best I've been able to find so far in Austin.

Messy and kinda dull interior needs finish but overall a really nice business and staff too

If you havent checked out this location, what are you doing? The interior is hella nice, which you don't see very often in many Austin coffee shops-- they've got long, spacious tables, natural lighting, and a very open ambiance. Perfect for studying, reading, catching up with people, and anything you plan on doing. The service here is extraordinary. I asked about the Iced Mojo and they let both me and my friend try it (it's really good, but a little too sweet for my taste). Very friendly dudes -- I accidentally forgot to mention that I wanted almond milk in my iced latte and they just made me another one and let me keep the first one. I would definitely come back just because of how kind the employees are here. Coffee is great -- they definitely know how to roast their beans properly here (no over-roasted acidic taste) and I'm pretty satisfied with my order I previously had a bad impression of Epoch due to a poor service experience at another Austin location, but this place has changed my mind and I will definitely be back

I have been here 30 plus times over the past few years. The one star is for the staff attitude. Coffee is decent.

Wish i could leave a 0 star review. The barista called me back into line after I walked away to ask for a tip cause he forgot to turn the ipad around... it was so awkward. I got an iced americano which he double checked was iced and then he dumped a HOT americano over a crap ton of ice. which all melted. Even Dunkin' donuts would have the decency to make me a new drink. So do yourself a favor and don't come here.

Matcha Latte was ok. The environment is very relaxed full of people with laptops. Haven't tried the coffee. They have chair massage available.

Nice little coffee house. Few baked goods. I tried the jam biscuit and was delighted. Sat outside with a group of ten. Everyone enjoyed their coffee whether hot or iced. Service was a little slow and the place was packed with people working remotely. Bathroom was clean and well stocked. Parking lot was full but I parked across the street without an issue.

This Epoch location feels different than the other two that I've been to and I like it! The environment feels nice and I love the big table they have there. I noticed that this location had more professionals vs students at the 24 hour location and it's a lot more quiet. I came during the day on a week day around 12:30 and there were a few parking spots. But when I left around 3:30, there were no spots so I can imagine parking might be difficult here at certain times. I docked off one star because despite the cortado was really pretty, the coffee had a bit bitter taste to it. Nevertheless, I enjoy this environment to get some work done!

Finally tried Epoch and I love local coffee shops. They have their own drink called mojo (think pre made iced latte vibes) and I loved it. It is very sweet, but I like that! My husband got half mojo half iced coffee and liked it as well. Lots of seating, many people had laptops and were working. They also had chair massages, not my thing but people may like that!

Nice atmosphere to study and best coffee flavor. I want to try a bakeries next time!!

Love this place. Coffee is top notch and the staff is kind and courteous. Been coming here for about a decade and don't see that stopping anytime soon.

I LOVE the aesthetic of this place. In the past I've had good experiences at other Epoch locations with a brewed pot of Zhi tea and a pastry. This chain seems to attract quiet, solo workers, which is great for dedicated study time. I'm writing this review to remind myself not to get the chai ever again. I don't know what they do, but I cannot handle the spice blend they use. It's super bitter and overwhelming, and yet I keep making the same mistake and ordering the same drink, then being disappointed. So note to self: order the steeped tea, not the chai next time. Would recommend for studying but not social conversation, unless you're outdoors, since it feels weird to interrupt the quiet, studious vibe.

Super cute cafe but busy most of the time. Nice place to work from and they have good coffee too.

Cool coffee place however rude experience. Walked in carrying my small dog as we were going to order and then sit outside. The barista didn't even greet us at all and immediately said only service dogs allowed based on the city ordinance. I do understand the rule but the barista could have said hello and then advised me nicely - overall just thought it was a rude experience!

The coffee was worse than awful at the far west location . "Ran out of tacos except for potato " Then asked me if I was giving him a tip. He also had unkempt appearance with dirty nails. Gross . Will never go back to that location

Terrible service. I waited for ten minutes at an empty register. I finally called the store to see if they were open and was greeted by a pissed off barista who insulted me before angrily taking the people who were waiting in front of me's order. Avoid this business, their terrible service and their overpriced and mediocre coffee will leave you frustrated and disappointed. There are better local coffee spots that have wonderful employees who treat people with some basic courtesy, which is apparently a struggle for the baristas at Epoch. I will never go here again and will suggest the same to people I know in the area.

Great place for a quiet early morning coffee. The staff was so nice and the coffee was delicious.

I've been a regular (as in almost every day) customer for several years at this location. At a very cool location, they can get very busy, but professionally keep the line moving. Alway with a sense of humor, and kindness. And let's face it, people wanting their coffee can be grumpy and unreasonable at times. Keep it up Epoch, love y'all.

got the cold brew 1/2 mojo and it was super good! they offer 16 and 20 oz sizes which is nice as some of the smaller coffee shops don't offer size options. they offer a cold brew mojo which i guess is a little sweeter than the 1/2 but i thought the 1/2 was the perfect amount of sweetness. the inside was so cute and had a bunch of plants and local art for sale. they also offer a reusable cup program which i didn't ask for additional info but good to know they offer a sustainable option!

I've been here twice in as many days. The mocha with coconut milk is excellent. It is the perfect temperature on delivery to immediately drink- something I don't generally find to be the case at coffee shops. I don't need to scald my mouth off when drinking a coffee. It's a pretty big place and seems like it would be nice to work in. They have power cords hanging for the ceiling for the people who choose to do that. Worth visiting.

I love Epoch, especially the location on Far West. I usually am a hot coffee drinker,weird, I know! Today I felt like trying something new! I was contemplating between the Matcha blend and the Iced Mojo, but needed the caffeine boost! Therefore, I got there Iced 1/2 Mojo. I like my coffee black so it was the perfect sweetness for me.

I work near by wanted to try somewhere new tried epoch highly recommend I got white mocha coffee and a delicious banana strawberry bread u have to try it

This Epoch coffee is epic! (I know- eye roll, no one says "epic" anymore mom! Gah.) But honestly, this old jiffy lube- converted into a coffee shop really is fantastic! I try to come here when I can. This location is always buzzing but not loud. There's no drive thru and the parking is often full but the latte was the smoothest latte I've had in town. Italians really have mastered macchiatos, espressos, and coffees of all assortments. I love that while hipster Epoch is unique that they also respect the craft of the Italians and make it their own. I'm telling you, you want to try a different standard of coffee - this is the spot. Delicious!

Well, how do you like your Epochs? The original 24/7 North Loop one is still our own Seattle grunge, the Anderson one is appropriately chic, and this brand new one on Far West is simply hip & cool. Friendly baristas and super fast wifi. Neato. The bad news is they close at 7pm, but it's hard to get mad at that, because that's pretty much when this neighborhood seems to shut down (okay, I'm usually in this area only for that HEB & library). They're talking about expanding their hours, but we'll see. There's also less food here than the other two Epochs, but in a nice way, so what? If we want to eat, let's go to a restaurant. Still a solid black pour for $2.50, their "Mojo" concoction has its own proselytes, and I really need to pay more attention to the latest chai & latte stuff. Big bright communal tables, with a whole bunch of two-tops in the dark two-top room. Was this place a former gas station? Garage? But now the newest & coolest Epoch in Austin's coffee world? We'll sip slow & contemplate.

Epoch was a unique coffee shop. They ran out of coffee! The venue, service and iced tea were ok.

My wife loved the iced coffee drink she ordered and i loved the large cappuccino that barely made it out of the old JiffyLube building repurposed as a barista hangout, I gnoshed my way through a great turnover type pastry filled with cream cheese and cinnamon. The barista was friendly and informative....another great java destination in the city with lots of options.

I love Epoch and have frequented the North Loop location for years! Great service, friendly baristas, delicious coffee and perfectly made cappuccinos! The beautiful fern pattern on my coconut milk cap amazed me. Not easy with coco milk. The space is much larger than I thought with tables of varying proportions and a small quiet area of mostly 2-tops at the west end featuring fun art on the walls. There is a downstairs space for staff and storage. I was told they may have coffee samplings for the 'hood downstairs in the future. Yes, please. We purchased a bag of the San Francisco delicious Cabin Fever because it rocked our world. If you source directly from farmers and roast locally you get an amazing flavor. Do try this coffee. Thank me later.

LOVE this new location! It's super minimal and modern, but still has the same grungy vibe you know and love about Epoch. Coffee is great, and I love the open space of the main room if you're there for conversation, as well as the more dim-lit back room if you're there to study or work.

Great addition to the neighborhood! I love how a Epoch has given life to what use to be an automotive repair shop. Classic Austin move in a quickly changing city. There's a good amount of table space here which is what I look for when I go to a coffee shop. Two big community tables for those who like to spread out and a bunch of smaller tables that are in a side room. The glass windows offer lots of natural light and at night it's well lit. No password for the internet and I haven't had any issues while I'm sitting here typing my review. What to be weary of is the outlets, there doesn't seem to be many and they're located in awkward spots. I think it would be cool to see some outlets that hang from the ceiling above the community tables. I can see myself coming back here to work and read. Can't beat a nice space and nice employees who you can joke around with :) Got a pot of tea here, I'll do the coffee next time!

This has become my favorite coffee shop to hit as I start my day. I'm a coffee wimp, so all I do are lattes. These folks make the best hazelnut latte in town!

Epoch (on Far West) has become one of my favorite coffee shops in Austin. Lucky for me, it's walking distance from my apartment! It's really hard to find a coffee shop that consistently has great (drip) coffee. If that doesn't sell it to you, it also has a decent sized parking lot, and its very roomy on the inside. The vibe that it gives off is unlike any coffee shop that I've been too (in Austin). While it's a really clean place with a lot of natural light, it also has some grunge to it. It's hard to find a coffee shop (with tasty coffee) in Austin that isn't completely pretentious, but I feel like Epoch is a good happy medium. They have outdoor seating, but it's always to sunny to sit out there. I'm hoping that one day they will put up a tarp, so I don't have to go to Starbucks when it's too crowded! Anyway, give them a try :)

What a horrible experience. I came here to try out new neighborhood coffee places and this place won't let you inside at all, no ordering outside without a mask... and then gives you coffee and cream separately and the stevia isn't stevia... it's a fake sugar... probably worse for you than actual sugar. I dipped my sleeve in the coffee in the car trying to mix it myself.... I wish I had gone to Mozart's cafe like I did yesterday because this place may as well be in the shitty parts of New York. Won't be coming back here even post covid. I should have trusted the low stars on yelp...
