What an amazing place. Customer service was off the charts as well as the wine that was selected and served. Every wine bottle has a message about equality (wink, wink) and the atmosphere is as good as the wine. Got to meet the owner Jim, and he is a great person with a great spirit to match. My wife and I had a great experience, and was able to her Jim's life story as well which was very powerful. Was only in town with our Frederick Wine Club for 5 days, but made it a point to visit twice during our stay. Thank you Jim for being so kind and having us at your establishment.

Wow. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have visited Equality Vines. I visited with my mom for a wine tasting and we were pleasantly surprised at how great of a time we had. Upon entering the building, my mom and I were greeted by Ben. I was immediately blown away with the interior decor; every corner is filled with very unique and eye-catching art pieces (courtesy of the art gallery next door). Ben gave us time to admire all of the art before we proceeded with our tasting, and what a tasting it was! I love how each of the wines had a story, and Ben told them beautifully (my mom cried multiple times). We enjoyed each of the wines we tasted, but our favorite was the "Get Your Own Damn Coffee" Chardonnay. A great wine with an even better name. I love everything that Equality Vines represents, I've never known wine to be so inspirational/meaningful and I can't wait to return and buy more wine (two bottles was definitely not enough). Thank you Ben for the amazing story-telling and amazing personality. Thank you Matt for allowing me to reschedule my tasting. Such a great experience!!!

Google
We had a wonderful experience here! The wines were very tasty & Ben was a fabulous host w/ many good stories & lovely pours. We went to dinner afterwards & my wine paled in comparison to our tasting @ Equality. Well done & keep up the good work!

Google
Wonderful spot for wine tasting in Guerneville. Love the thought that goes into the wine, the partnerships and the cause. Art, community, wine… perfect pairings

My husband and I were happy to finally visit this tasting room after trying their wine at Minoqua Brewing Company (in Madison WI). Matt was behind the bar (lucky for us) and shared his expertise with us. Loved viewing the art gallery that is connected. Then got to meet a few more EV team members and found out a great group of humans make this tasting room function so well!

Google
We randomly popped in and had the best time! The stories behind Equality Vines are so inspiring and the wines are all locally made by amazing winemakers. I personally fell in love with the “Get your own damn coffee” Chardonnay. Also, Matt’s aunt’s story as a pioneer in women in broadcast television is so powerful 🥰

Yelp
Equality Vines is such a gem! Not only were the wines absolutely delicious (I genuinely loved every single one I tried), but the mission behind this place makes it even more special. I was so moved to learn that it's owned by Jim Obergefell, the plaintiff in the landmark Supreme Court marriage equality case. I also love that proceeds from the wines go to support causes that uplift women, the LGBTQ+ community, and other social justice initiatives. It felt so good to know that each sip was also supporting meaningful change. Each wine has a unique name like the "19th Amendment" which is so cool. The space was filled with LGBTQ+ artwork and it is even connected to a gallery down the hall. So you can grab your glass of wine and check out art Nextdoor. Lastly, the service was amazing. This place definitely has a mom and pop vibe and they make you feel super welcomed. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Outstanding customer service and wines. We loved the stories behind every tasting. A few left us teary eyed. We were able to use the wine pass here. There is an art gallery attached that is well worth the visit.

Yelp
I had left my wine there when I went there a month ago so we went took a trip to go get our wine and the staff is always so amazing. They are so nice we laugh we took pictures so if you're ever up in the I believe Santa Rosa area go check them out. Tell them Nadia sent you the girl with the vibrantskirt tool they'll remember me, but they are amazing. It's a fun spot. Great pictures in front of the wall love wins.

Yelp
We visited Guerneville for the Equality Vines Yelp event. If you're visiting Guerneville for a float on the Russian River, add Equality Vines to your itinerary. I was really happy with my tasting there. The space has plenty of indoor seating with big windows of people watching. They brought out each of their wines and explained a direct social or environmental cause that the wine is supporting. I really appreciate how specific, tangible each cause was- for example the Choice Sauvignon Blanc directly supports restoration/protection of the Russian River. To honor the historic impact of Stonewall, they have a Zinfandel! I enjoyed the tasting and learning more about each cause. This tasting room takes a lot of time to work with amazing organizations to make an impact with their wines. I highly recommend visiting and picking up a bottle to share.

Yelp
Matthew was a very informative staff person. He explained how every wine came about and the passion behind them. My favorite was the cab franc. Must give it a try.

Yelp
I'm so happy we stopped here and tried the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc! I bought a bottle of Get your Own Coffee Chardonnay and it's so refreshing and delicious!! What a great place to hang out in a warm afternoon!

Yelp
This place was great!!! The host is awesome! Also the wine all has cool stories behind the bottles and creations of them. The charcuterie board was really good. I enjoyed going here, and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting guerneville. The wines are also good and reasonably priced. Aesthetically the place is a vibe very different from most winery's this one is definitely hip and modern. Reminds me of a small art gallery/museum.

Monic C.

Yelp
Not only is the vibe in this place amazing but so is the staff. The wine was delicious and we will sign up to be members asap.
google avatar

Yelp
The wine, the ambiance, the staff. The snacks! So many things to love, enjoy and buy. There was no way I was leaving and not becoming a member. Every bottle supports an organization near and dear to my heart. And one of the cofounders is THE Jim Obergefell! I did a full tasting with a focus and revisit on my favorite summer wines. I'm a "rose all day" gal who also loves my bubbles and white wines, and none of them disappointed. They collaborate with some of the best in the industry and I'm super excited for what's to come in the fall. I learned a lot about the region and felt like family by the time I left. I highly recommend this tasting room and a membership. Lastly, they have treats for dogs and are super dog friendly.

Yelp
Guerneville scored a gem. Was quite pleased with every pour (i am in the industry), we had a great time. The location and vibes are great. There is an art gallery next door you can sip and peruse through. Highly recommend stopping in after a walk through Armstrong Woods and before lunch at Farmhand or Northwood.

Yelp
What a special place. I came to Guerneville for my bachelorette and this was our favorite stop on our trip. The wine is incredible and the staff is even better. Thank you for everything you do and have done for our community. We can't wait to toast our wedding day with some GEMS bubbles.

Yelp
An excellent place! I adore the history of this beloved institution. The seasonal tastings are a delight #TravelsWithDucky always stops here when visiting the river.

Yelp
Service - very friendly and open. Learn about each wine Wines - some very tasty offerings. The tasting menu for $25 is a great option to sample what they offer. We found the blend delicious. There is a charity and a story behind each wine Pro tip #1 - tasting is likely waived if you buy a bottle or bottles! Pro tip#2 - another dog friendly spot. A few outside in the side of the building or if room permitting inside. Ask the proprietors.

Yelp
Bestie and I headed in for a wine tasting and was blown away by the knowledge and assistance from Ben! I learned so much about how and who Equality supports along with their history. Had such a great time, tasted delicious wines and purchased the ones I liked. Can't wait to enjoy them. Huge thanks to Ben for making a fun (and delicious) afternoon! Please get to Equality and support them!

Yelp
Great tastings with a great cause! I absolutely loved the back story on all the wines we got to taste and they were welcoming and accommodating. The inside is super cute and it is a great atmosphere Bought two bottles of Love Wins! Would definitely go back!
google avatar

Aaron S.

Yelp
Came here with my friends with a large group (13). Owner / host was very accommodating and everyone was very nice. All the wines have a wonderful story related to their origins and generally are from small business wineries or contribute to certain non-profits. Definitely a place to visit. We did the wine tasting which was very affordable at 20$. Would highly recommend as a post hike activity! We will be coming back

Yelp
Most unique tasting room we've ever been to! Matt walked us through the background of Equality Vines and the incredible social initiatives associated with each label. And the wine itself was incredible. We're excited to return and highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Yelp
This tasting room was the best. We visited on our second annual December trip with a group of 6 (+ a newborn) and had an incredible time. One of the co-founders, Jim Obergefell (of Obergefell v. Hodges), was onsite signing his book, Love Wins, which was incredible. The gentleman who was waiting on us also had some incredible stories about the wines they serve at the tasting room, as well as about Guerneville in general. The history behind Equality is one for the books (and the law) - seriously! Each bottle they sale supports an organization that represents and advocates for equality. In addition, Jim's personal case made its way to the United States Supreme Court where, on June 26, 2015, that court brought marriage equality to all 50 states. His story, and the book encapsulating it, is spread throughout the tasting room (as well as the other wines represented) so you're learning as you're indulging! I can't remember the exact history behind the wine, but one was created by a woman and was entitled "Get your own damn coffee!" which is so badass!! The tasting fee is $15, but waived if you buy a bottle - which we did. The space is small but perfect for small groups. 10/10 would recommend. Come ready to learn and ready for an awesome variety in wines!

Yelp
Sheesh. All I can say is from now on my wine tasting experiences moving forward can be nothing shy of exceptional. This wine shop has definitely raised the bar for me. I paid $15 for 5 hearty samples of quality wines. What excites me the most about this wine shop is that each wine tells a radical/activism story ranging from women fighting discrimination in the workspace and feminist taking a stance against Injustice. You will be offered a history lesson with each one that you consume that further makes one invested in the quality and the product of this establishment. I will definitely be back I felt very welcomed as a queer black woman. An added bonus is the love wall. That is perfect for selfies & group photos

Julie K.

Yelp
I visited with my family on a rainy afternoon and had a great time. The wines are excellent and the service top tier. Not to be missed.
google avatar

Kerry G.

Yelp
A fantastic array of wines, with each helping support a non-profit causes that matters. Our host Ben was outstanding - warm, very knowledgeable about the wines and winemaking, and was a great conversationalist. If it's a relaxing wine tasting experience you and friends long for, with delicious wines and NO pretense, please stop in to Equality!
google avatar

Natalie K.

Yelp
We were visiting Guerneville and decided to stop by Equality Vines for a tasting. It was a rainy day and even though there was no space, Matt made space for us in the covered cove by the door which was perfect. The business did a great job spacing guests out to follow covid regulations. Also Matt was so busy and felt bad making us wait so he gave us the 2 complimentary glasses of rose to have while we waited for the tasting to start. Equality wines has purpose behind their brands. We ended up buying a bottle and signed up for the membership because the staff gave us great customer service and they make wine to help communities. I recommend you visit.

Yelp
This is the best wine bar in Guerneville! All updated inside, amazing service, and great wine. My cousin and I walked in, sat right down, and were greeted right away. The music was awesome and we were immediately started on the wine flight. We ended up leaving with 7 bottles! I will recommend this place to all my family and friends. It's really nice to see such a great place in the heart of this amazing little town.
google avatar

Tammy C.

Yelp
Stopped in today for a tasting. The staff was extremely welcoming and very knowledgeable. Loved the story behind each wine and the fact that they give back to unique causes. Will happily support this business and its mission. Beautiful and unique labels for each wine

Yelp
Very big place in the middle of the town. Came with 2 friends and my fiance. When we got in there was nobody there. Waited about 5-7 minutes before the owner came in and realized we were customers. Not sure where everyone was at. There was also a musician right outside playing live music, so that was definitely a plus. I must say, before I review the quality of the wine, each bottle has a very unique story behind it and that's what I was impressed with the most. Not the quality of the wine. As far as the wine quality goes, wasn't something I'd buy or keep. They had a cabernet but it wasn't really a cabernet; more like a red blend. The owner offered us a special reserve bottle of cabernet but only if we bought the bottle, so we did, and it was mediocre. Nothing special. If you were looking for a cabernet or a good red, this is not the place. However, if you are looking for some decent white wine, this is it.

Yelp
Delicious wines curated with a hopeful mission. This is a must-stop destination when in Guerneville.

Yelp
Get yourselves in here! This is THE place to be. Go take a walk in Armstrong Woods, then come here for a delicious variety of wine and bubbly. The atmosphere is modern, warm, elegant and casual. I love hanging out in the lounge area - there's no rush here, stay sip and enjoy your wine. And who doesn't want to drink for a good cause? Just signed up as a member- that's just how damn good their wines are.
google avatar

Courtney H.

Yelp
I really liked this place. The service was very friendly and the wines were actually quite good; we ended up taking home four bottles. The mission-based aspect of the business was definitely a draw for us and to have really good wines in a cute tasting room on top of that was great. Highly recommend if you're in Guerneville.

Kelly R.

Yelp
Had a great experience here! Loved the message behind the wines, friendliness of the staff and loved the wines too. Great place to stop if you're in town!
google avatar

Leilani B.

Yelp
We really enjoyed wine tasting here! The gentleman serving us wine shared a very interesting history of Guernville, which added a ton to the experience. We were happy to support all they stand for here!
google avatar

Isabella L.

Yelp
Matt was such an amazing host. Despite COVID, he made us feel warm, welcome, and at home. All of the wines are unique not only in development, but also in presentation and taste. If you're in the area, please take a visit.

Russell K.

Yelp
Guerneville is such a diamond in the rough that it should be no surprise that one of the best wine tasting rooms is here, hidden in plain sight. The equality vines tasting room is a wonderful concept, geared around the philosophy of acceptance, which sources specific wines from local vintners. The wine is tremendous, but it's the overall vibe of the place that sends the experience into the stratosphere. If you're lucky, you'll get a chance to meet owner Jim Obergefell who fought all the way to the Supreme Court for gay marriage rights (and won). But if you're REALLY lucky, you'll visit on a quiet day when Gary is serving. We were treated to a nearly encyclopedic history of the town and region, which was supremely interesting. So wonderful to hear about the development of the culture and business in the area. We would have spent all day there if we could.
google avatar

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Some friends and myself stumbled on this awesome spot for wine tasting and I am glad we did. Loved the wine, loved the service, loved the message! Keep making delicious and cleverly named wines! If you're in the area, check it out!
google avatar

Gary M.

Yelp
Love what they stand for, love their wines. Literally happened to be walking by on a day they were having an event. Stopped in, tasted some wine, liked them all and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. Left with even more Respect (their Rose) than we came with! If you're looking for a very nice little boutique winery with good wine, Equality Vines is your place.
google avatar

Sara P.

Yelp
Guerrneville is charming and a new addition is this fabulous tasting room. Check it out * great wines* great cause* great staff! Cheers!

Sarah M.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this gem in downtown Guerneville and it really enjoyed the experience. This tasting room is new to the area and definitely deserves an afternoon if your in Guerneville! Great wines and they support LGBT, non-profits, and equality for all. Truly a comfortable space to drink local wines and chill. Delicious wine for a good cause :) LOVE WINS

Terri S.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Guerneville. Ann is great, but the wines are fantastic as is the greater message. Don't miss them. Great bubbly rose that is Pinot and Chardonnay. The Zinfandel is bold and amazing.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Found this place on my way to the river and stopped to grab some food in town. Great friendly staff as well as environment! Love the message they stand for and that they donate to the YWCA, human rights campaign and league of women voters. Haley was especially knowledgeable and warm and friendly! Great place to stop in to taste some delicious wines and honey also!
