This tasting room was the best. We visited on our second annual December trip with a group of 6 (+ a newborn) and had an incredible time. One of the co-founders, Jim Obergefell (of Obergefell v. Hodges), was onsite signing his book, Love Wins, which was incredible. The gentleman who was waiting on us also had some incredible stories about the wines they serve at the tasting room, as well as about Guerneville in general.
The history behind Equality is one for the books (and the law) - seriously! Each bottle they sale supports an organization that represents and advocates for equality. In addition, Jim's personal case made its way to the United States Supreme Court where, on June 26, 2015, that court brought marriage equality to all 50 states. His story, and the book encapsulating it, is spread throughout the tasting room (as well as the other wines represented) so you're learning as you're indulging! I can't remember the exact history behind the wine, but one was created by a woman and was entitled "Get your own damn coffee!" which is so badass!!
The tasting fee is $15, but waived if you buy a bottle - which we did. The space is small but perfect for small groups. 10/10 would recommend. Come ready to learn and ready for an awesome variety in wines!
