Three types of vacations to take in the Maldives - SilverKris

"Refurbished and family-friendly, this resort at the lower tip of Addu Atoll features 78 spacious bungalows that open onto courtyard gardens, giving children room to roam while offering varied activities for guests of all ages. Offerings include bespoke diving and canoe trips, water-skiing, banana-boat rides, snorkelling around vibrant coral reefs, and excursions to explore the mangroves and wildlife of the nearby nature park. Its connection to other local islands via the Addu Link Road causeway also makes it easy to take bicycle trips to neighbouring villages for a cultural change of pace, and the property includes leisure amenities such as an outdoor pool where guests can relax with a cocktail." - Creative Solutions

An island alternative in the Maldives - SilverKris

"Housed in former military barracks with tin roofs and white-washed walls, this family-friendly resort delivers a homely, Anglo-Maldivian experience on powdery beaches fringed by swaying palms. Reworked from naval housing, it prioritizes authenticity and relaxed seaside comfort over ostentatious luxury, letting guests appreciate the island's history while enjoying beachside amenities." - Joe Worthington

I spent 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed my time. My rooms are very clean, with great A/C. All the staff were friendly and the water access (pool and beach) were great. There's loads of places to sit/lie and relax and the vibe is super chilled. There was entertainment 3 out of the 4 nights I was there too. I'd happily stay again! |

I have just spent a week in his resort on a dive trip and found it quite a surprise, rooms were comfortable with great aircon.. setting is wonderful and very relaxed, and staff were all very helpful. The meals are Buffet style with great selection for all.. a delightful pool and great bar service. Was a great stay! Thanks.

Great little hotel with friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble. Food good, all areas clean and sleep quality was great. Would love to come back here.

We were one of only three sets of guests staying at this large resort. It's the beginning of the wet season and start of European summer so patronage is low at this time of year. |We were upgraded to a spacious beachside bungalow/room.|It was reasonably clean and had all the basics one would expect. Easy to access power outlets were lacking though.|The pool area was superb and staff were super friendly. Overall, parts of the resort and garden looked a bit rundown but we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. This resort is also the only place on Gan Island that serves alcohol.

Was a little concerned as this hotel is rated 3 stars. I have had a few bad experiences staying at 3 star hotels and normally go for 4 stars.|I would definitely rate this hotel with 4 stars, the staff were very friendly and the chef's were exceptional. Choice of food was very good, only downfall in my opinion was the deserts (same every day), great if your a fruit lover. Pool and surrounding areas clean and not overcrowded. Rooms clean and comfortable, well stocked with water, coffee, tea etc, at no additional charge.|My only criticism with regards to the rooms are, they are a bit dated but the do have everything you need for a lovely stay.||Just like to say a big thank you to all the staff, who made me feel very comfortable as a solo traveller and providing a great service.||Highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for 2 weeks in January . |The rooms are simple but very clean with a huge bathroom and comfortable bed . |The whole hotel , from the gardens, pool area, bar and restaurant are all imaculate with a cool, simple laid back design , it really enhances the feeling of relaxation . |The beach area is beautiful , and sun beds are plentiful , and although the hotel offers a snorkelling boat trip twice a day for all inclusive guests there is a reef just a few strokes away from the beech , |There are also many other tours including an island hopping tour with lunch served on the boat and a dolphin experience which was amazing to see . |Bikes are also free to use, and we cycled into town a couple of times where we met some very friendly locals. |We used the spa once and had a wonderful massage from the lady ( I forget her name ) but I definitely recomend . |We found the food in the restaurant to be delicious ( especially the curries ) but there was somethi g different to choose from every day . |We partially liked that we were allocated a table for the duration of our stay and drinks were usually placed on our table before we arrived as they remembered what we had ordered which was a nice touch . |I really have to mention the staff, they are all a credit to the hotel. And work tirelessly to ensure everyone is looked after . A special mention to Riffa , the lady in the restaurant , she always greated us with the biggest smile, even doing 3 shifts a day , she was always happy and helpful . |Thankyou for such an amazing stay . We will definitely be back soon .

My two sons and I stayed at Equator Village in June 2025. For the price and convenience to Gan Airport this resort is a great choice. PROS: 1) Near Gan Airport, so it is quick to/from resort. This is especially useful if you are coming from Sri Lanka as Sri Lankan Airlines has direct flights to Gan Island. 2) There is a reef just off shore, which has really nice snorkeling. Nearly as good as any you will find by boat 3) Good Value: Staff, food and room are good for the price 4) Because this isn't a "trapped" resort, for guests it is much easier to go see other parts of Addu Atoll. 5) Staff are really nice. CONS: There isn't really a "beach" but still there is sun-bathing area near the shore. The rooms aren't on the shore/beach front, but within a short distance.

We stayed here in February 2025. It's a nice place but be aware that it appears to be in a decaying state. The village earned many awards for excellence up until 2018, sadly nothing new since then. Rooms are clean, the grounds are somewhat kept up. The area is beautiful. Food is mediocre, not the greatest at all. It's just OK. Staff is really amazingly helpful. It is advisable to purchase the full All-Inclusive package to, if one elects to purchase the Half Board you will be treated as second class, you will pay for water at dinner, you will have to pay $18 USD if wanting lunch there on property. High Tea in the late afternoon is $5 USD, again if not all inclusive. If you use more than the water allowed in your room, you will pay for extra as well. Thie water rationing seems to be a thing in the Maldives.
