Eraeliya Villas and Gardens

We stayed at Eraeliya Villas & Gardens in Weligama and chose the Walauwa Villa – without a doubt the best among their villas and rooms. The villa was spacious, beautifully designed, and had stunning ocean views. Just stepping outside and finding ourselves right on the beach was an absolute highlight. 🌊✨ The property is serene, surrounded by lush gardens, and offers a very private, tranquil experience. The spa therapist from Bali was excellent and made the treatment truly special. Food options were limited and the menu felt quite expensive, but what stood out was the exceptional service. A special thanks to *Sandun*, who went above and beyond with his warmth, care, and professionalism – truly the best staff member we encountered. His attention made our stay extra memorable. The real disappointment was that our villa was handed over an hour late,limited-expensive menu and lack of intercoms which was not ideal for a property of this standard. Overall, despite these small drawbacks, Eraeliya Villas & Gardens offers one of the finest stays in Weligama, and the Walauwa Villa is highly recommended if you want comfort, privacy, and direct beach access.

I’ve spent decades travelling with work and for pleasure and I’d put this hotel up there at the top of my experiences. The service was second to none - Rex, Dean (and the other one!) were super attentive and friendly without being in your face. The food was absolutely superb (I particularly loved the fish curry) and the management team were super helpful. The hotel is tastefully decorated and its beautiful grounds and view over the ocean were the perfect means of properly relaxing before travelling around the island. The pool was big enough to swim lengths and my son was chuffed that they had weights and an outside exercise area. We spent seven nights here and could happily have stayed 14. I would like to think we will visit again next year and head up the East coast afterwards. For those interested in surfing use Yaka surf in Weligama, lovely people who got both my kids surfing within an hour. Some of the best fish I’ve ever eaten was at Fish Point in Weligama. As basic a “restaurant” as it gets but perhaps the best meal of the holiday. The Erailya fish curry was a very close second.

Absolutely amazing stay at Eraeliya Villas and Gardens! 🌴✨ Everything was perfect — the room was beautiful, clean, and very peaceful. The staff was so kind and helpful. The food was delicious every single day, with fresh and tasty local flavors. The highlight of my stay was the massage – the therapist was incredible, one of the best I’ve ever had. It was relaxing and professional, just perfect after a long day. The location is also fantastic, surrounded by nature and very quiet, ideal for a peaceful vacation. Highly recommended — I would love to come back! Thank you for making my trip so special 💛

This hotel has stunning decor and a prime beachfront location with excellent arrival service that creates a luxurious first impression. However, several significant problems marred our stay. Major Issues: • Our original room had severe plumbing odors and was under maintenance (not communicated beforehand) • The entire hotel was undergoing construction with builders throughout the property • Our upgraded room had beautiful design but only lukewarm water for the feature of the room being the stone bath. • Poor communication and transparency about ongoing renovations Value Concerns: • Expensive rates with no included breakfast and no nearby dining options • Overpriced minibar ($4 for small chip packets) • Hidden 18% VAT added to all prices, increasing our nightly rate by $55 Service Disappointments: • Birthday cake we requested was allegedly “thrown away” before evening (likely eaten by staff) • Promised complimentary breakfast was retracted the next morning • Difficult to locate staff for service requests despite provided WhatsApp contact • Inconsistent follow-through on commitments Bottom Line: While we enjoyed one evening with friends, this expensive hotel failed to deliver the special experience expected for a birthday celebration. The lack of upfront communication about maintenance, hidden fees, and unreliable service made this a disappointing end to our Sri Lankan vacation. For the premium price, guests deserve transparency and consistent service standards.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

We had the most unforgettable stay at Eraeliya in August! From the moment we arrived, the whole team made us feel so welcome, especially Sandun, whose warmth and kindness set the tone for our visit. The management is incredibly friendly, and we were all invited to a beautiful cocktail evening with sunset snacks – such a thoughtful and memorable touch.||Our room was stunning, every detail carefully thought through, from refreshing mango ice sticks and pineapple to soothing face spray infusers. The view was breathtaking, and to top it all off, we were treated to the sight of monkeys playing right outside our room in the trees – an amazing surprise!||Special thanks also to Hashan, the wonderful manager, who upgraded a young honeymoon couple to a secluded, luxurious cocoon. Witnessing their joy and happiness genuinely moved us to tears – it’s rare to see such heartfelt gestures.||Every aspect of our stay felt five-star: the views, the service, the small luxuries, and above all, the genuine care and hospitality of the Eraeliya team. We left with full hearts and can’t wait to return. Truly paradise!

Our stay at Eareliya Villas was absolutely exceptional! From the moment we arrived, we were treated with warmth and care. Their attention to detail, outstanding service, and genuine hospitality made our food, accommodation, and overall stay feel truly luxurious. The villa itself is beautifully designed, offering a perfect blend of elegance and comfort. Located right in front of a stunning private beach, it gave us the peace and privacy we were looking for. The pool view was breathtaking, and every corner of the property felt like a slice of paradise. We couldn’t have asked for a better holiday and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!

I stayed here with my partner Jess for 4 days from 30th August 2025 and could not believe how beautiful; the property is. The location is stunning with a breathtaking view of the sea and a secluded beach. The staff made us feel at home from the get go and nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was a real treat with more than enough to sustain us on our fun packed stay. We enjoyed a barbecue by candlelight on our last night and again cannot believe the way staff looked after us. I would like to mention 2 staff that really stood out ,Sandun who most mornings brought us breakfast and Rex who also made our stay comfortable. Sandun has a good rapport with guests and really understood our needs providing excellent service.

The most beautiful aesthetically hotel in Sri Lanka. This is postcard worthy, the staff the pool views and architecture hands down excellent. The owner did an amazing job curating each rooms with beauty & passion. The food, service management the best. The hardest part was leaving the hotel.
