Eric's On The Pier

After reading through other reviews I thought the staff was very friendly and kind. They walked us through the menu and they were polite and kind. So maybe it's certain individuals? 🤔 I thought this place was cheaper and had better food than the other restaurants. We did a lot of scouting and even though there was limited seating it was with it. The claim chowder was awesome and was hot and full of flavor. It was a good size portion. My wife loved the fish and chips and she wanted to take home their tarter Sauce! 🤣 My brother got the onion rings, but even though they were good he wished he had gotten the fish and chips! I liked their fries but they were soft. I prefer crunchy fries but I found them comparable to mc Donald's fries. My wife loves the soft fries but I'll let you decide! Overall I would recommend this place, good good, good service. Something to work on; prices and seating availability.

We loved the location of this restaurant, but there was very limited seating area. We bought a cheese burger, michelada beer and of course their fish and chips. Both food options where great! I would recommend them both, the Michelada mix was also very tasty and well priced! We will definitely eat here again on our next stay at Avalon.

I'll start by saying it was my very first time visiting the beautiful Catalina island, and I had a blast there. My family and I wanted a quick bite, so we decided to eat here at Ericks on the pier. I know inflation has kicked in hard, but man, $78 bucks for 2 plain burgers for the kids, a sope plate for the wife, and fish-n-chips for myself was just crazy. however, I gave it the benefit of the doubt due to a good smell coming from the place, but the food was not that great, honestly the fish and chips were good but im the type of person that loves seasoning and that was not there. My wife said the sopes were not amazing, but they were decent. And my kids said their burgers were okay. We all agreed that the chips or fries, whatever you may call them, were way too soggy and not seasoned what so ever. Prices didn't match from online to the actual menu, so that needs to be updated for sure. Im not saying that the food was nasty at all it just didn't meet my standards and wasn't worth the money respectfully.

Came to the island for the day with friends. Didn’t want to wait in a restaurant just wanted a quick bite and then off on our adventure. Didn’t expect anything amazing here, just good food and service. The lady taking our orders told us “no”with attitude, asked to sun onion rings for fries no , extra plate no, knife to cut or burger no. All our burgers were drowning in mustard, had to wipe it off. Great views along this pier

Fish and fries— no chips! Fish was cooked well and tasty. They say your # good luck hearing it… pier is full of people and seats are not very comfortable. Hard wood bar stools. Kids screaming. Very loud. Not a lot of room to eat.

I ate buffalo burger. I’ve never eatten buffalo meat. So I want to try this one. I worried about this flavor and smell But taste and texture is literally same as beef Hamburger bun is quite crispy

If you love micheladas get one here! It’s authentic Mexican taste they make it to the order not premade mix. 10/10 Michi, we only had fries for food but they were good :) and the spot has good views. Will be coming back here only for beers!

The food and drinks were deceptively disappointing for the price. The menu did not match what was ordered. The customer service was terrible. When I visit Catalina Island again , I’ll keep walking past this place.

This review is for wine & beer only! It's a great spot to have a drink and people watch! It gets crowded and often there isn't place to sit. But it's a perfect spot if you need a cool drink and want to be entertained by tourists.

Thumbs down! Initially, I ordered two different tacos à la cart. The lady at the counter said they can't do a la carte, and if I do, it has to be the same meat. Which doesn't make sense since says it à la cart on the sign. So I decided to get the clam chowder. There was a layer of oil on top of the chowder, as if it had been sitting for a while. As I mixed the chowder around, the oil remained on top. My stomach was upset all night long and I had problems the next day as well.

Got a fish and chips that was super greasy and a huge let down. Food wasn't good and tasted very processed. Only cool thing about this place is that its on the pier.

We were on Catalina Island for one day, and this was our first stop. As people have said, it's right on the pier, and we found the service to be quick and friendly. It might have helped that there weren't too many people and things were very chill. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a shack, but it was a very nice day, not too hot, and there was shade aplenty. Now for the food. We got a breakfast burrito and a breakfast sandwich. Was it the best breakfast I've had? Nope. Was it immensely satisfying after getting up early and onto a ferry? Yep. We got salsa and ketchup to go with everything. No complaints.

This is the location for watching people and being part of the pier scene. It is located at the intersection of the Green Pier and the boardwalk, and there really isn't any separation from those on the pier. All the dining is outdoors and there is minimal shade: so plan accordingly. As you can see from my pic, it was a slow time (I've seen this place packed) and our service was quick. We had a beer and a fish taco, see my pics. The beer was cold - it doesn't get any better than that. As you can see from my fish taco pic, there's a lot of good stuff here. The veggies were fresh and crisp. The fish was Tilapia. It was thin, but there was enough quantity. It was cooked well and flavorful. In spite of it being thin, it was still flaky. Also it was grilled, and not breaded or fried. The crème sauce was very, very mild which added some moisture to the tortilla. You'll need to add sauce to suit your tastes. It's an interesting place to watch the scene, and be part of this scene.

5 stars from a mom looking for some basic food for my kids to eat while playing on the beach! All the food here seems to be fancy and fish, but this restaurant had exactly what we wanted! A plain burger with ketchup for my 4 year old and a plain cheeseburger for my 7 year old. They devoured their burgers. My breakfast burrito was good and my husband enjoyed the fish n chips. It was easy and convenient to grab while the kids played in the beach. And any food my kids will eat without complaining gets 5 stars from me!

First time here, but we went with this place since it was least busy and more of a takeout style (quicker). The other eateries were more of a sit-down. We ordered the hamburger, onion rings, french fries, burrito, clam chowder, and chicken & carne asada quesadillas. Everything was OK, but nothing spectacular. It was convenient. The chicken quesadilla was a bit dry, and the carne asada one was better. Service was good though. There are some seats at the counter and around if you'd like to say and it.

Just like the other reviews food was not good and super expensive. The fish and chips tasted like frozen food and I wouldn't recommend them. Fries were hot but tasted like fish. As mentioned the cashier is super rude and seems like she doesn't like her job. Avoid this place.

I'd give 0 stars if I could for this worthless place. Ordered a breakfast burrito with eggs, potatoes and bacon ONLY. I then said make sure there is no cheese please. They make it and it has beans. I go back up and tell them it was supposed to only be eggs, potatoes and bacon. The lady was extremely rude and she said "you just said no cheese". I told her I said I ONLY wanted eggs, potatoes and bacon and reiterated no cheese. She proceeded to say "so do you want your money back"? I said- no I'd like a burrito please. The cook the. Comes out and says, what would you like in the burrito. I repeat, just eggs, potatoes and Bacon. That's it. They remake one and I waited another 10 min. I left and cut it in half. This one now has cheese. I went back and I said they made it wrong again and she said the first time you said no cheese but didn't say that the second time. I told her, I 100% ordered it three way I wanted it and spoke directly to the cook. Couldn't care less. I said just give me my money back and I left. This place is a joke. No customer service or etiquette.

My childhood is saved. Ordered the Harvey Burger "Eric's Style" and all was restored in the universe. Just as amazing as I remembered it. Think I went back 3 times in a day and a half. Thank you Eric's on the Pier for continuing to make the greatest burger ever created!

We stopped in Avalon and my husband and I were a little hungry. We shared the seafood combo and it was really good. Simple, basic fish, shrimp, clams and chips but we really enjoyed it. The woman at the counter was really friendly and our food came out quickly. They had K-Earth playing which was fun and upbeat. A basic lunch that we both enjoyed a lot. Our total for the combo and a large drink was $24

Amazing food. We tried the pastor tacos, carne asada burrito, and a clam chowder. It is pretty decently priced for a touristy restaurant. Really liked being able to eat on the peer. Great views of the casino and harbor while eating too. Wait time for food is not too long even when crowded. We loved it so much we went back the next day. Only negative was limited seating and lots of wasps flying around. I'd be happy to only ever eat at Eric's.

Highly do NOT recommend this place. If they find out you are a tourist, they do not want to even talk to you. They will make mistakes with your order with no special request, when we were the 2nd and last in line. Service is slow, and they will ask you to "wait" for 15 minutes just for to go boxes. The only positive side is the location, as the stand is right on the pier.

While there were quite a bit of restaurants to choose from, we wanted something quick and inexpensive. It was right on the pier which was convenient since we were going to do the submarine tour. My family got two orders of fish and chips to share, while I got shrimp tacos and chili cheese fries. I actually wanted cheese fries but they gave me chili cheese instead. The food was alright. Nothing special but it did the job. Not the best really. The chili cheese fries were good though! For the price, a bit under $8, you get quite a bit! I really wanted just a small side portion, but the amount could've been a full meal. Food does come out fast. You don't wait long. And the portions are filling so it's not a bad choice around here. The menu suits all kinds of preferences , even if you are someone who doesn't want seafood.

Here I am trying to pump up the Buffalo burger to a friend and it came out 1 patty instead of how it looked on the outside picture. It was good but at that price should of been bette

we were pretty hungry and this place was recommended for bison burgers as we wanted to try out. On the picture display, it shows bison burger with 2 patties and cheese but in reality there is only 1 patty and no cheese. The fine print said Eric's style is "onion tomatoe lettuce" which is up at a separate corner of an order menu so obviously it's a scam. if your gonna do that then may as well state on the display menus that extra patty and cheese are at extra charge. so after getting our burgers with extra cheese. it wasn't melted either. The burgers arrived cold and dry. I had to put in extra extra ketchup and mustard to swallow down the burger but couldn't finish when I was hungry from my hike. If you truly want a bison burger, need to go to 2 harbors. It tasted a lot better than this place.

I didn't take pictures as I was that hungry lol. My friend got the bison burger and was disappointed... he expected more flavor. I got the bacon cheeseburger and I have no complaints!!! It was loaded with pickles, raw onion, lettuce and I substituted the mustard for mayo.... the bacon was plentiful. All burgers are served up on a wheat bun. Overall the food was good and did the trick, settled the tummy.

We had been told that Eric's had the best fish and chips in Avalon... That's pretty sad for the whole town. The batter was very crunchy, but it was fishy tasting, thin and reminded me of frozen fish fillets.

Quickie Review! Great views, but mediocre and overpriced food. The food was easily something you could argue to be fast food. I can't really complain with the view.

I got the al pastor burrito. That's an absolute no. It was Super fatty. It's like theres no love in making the food. I will say the burrito was wrapped nicely. My family got fish n chips. They're English and they said it wasn't good. It was too much batter. Meaning if your coming here for the day, just avoid this place.

Some amazing clam chowder I ate the whole cup family was dipping their fries into it because that's how delicious it was and they couldn't stop!!!! Thank you for satisfying my stomach LOL! If I'm ever back I'll buy double!!! It was a cooler day so it kept me warm and toasty! Very happy with my lunch @ the pier!

Their fish and chips were good, combo deal were great price too. Must try their mango beer. Self-service and nice harbor view.

Ordered fish and chips for a midafternoon pick me up on the pier. We got two orders of the fish and chips combo (with soda $14.75 or draft beer $16.75). Way expensive for the portions that you get and the fries were meh but the fish was absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked crispy and golden, tender and juicy on the inside without being greasy. Would come back again for the speedy service but if I could get the same quality fish somewhere else with better fries I'd totally go somewhere else instead without a thought.

VERY disappointed. i came here because it was the first restaurant (that was quick and didn't require formal dine in) that i saw. salsa tasted like tostitos. fish and shrimp tacos were heavily battered. onion rings were fine. friendly staff, but does not make up for the mediocre tacos

$12.50 for two beers & Clam Chowder in a bread bowl totalled $25 & change. Not to mention, more celery than clams in the chowder. It should've been Celery Chowder & runny, not thick. A short walk away is a liquor store that you can buy a 6-pack of Corona Extra for less than $15. Down the road is a Vons. Unfortunately, we learned this later so fyi when on this beautiful island. With everything going on w/ Covid, I understand they are located on the pier, but what a rip off as I read reviews before the pandemic were all the same. The best thing was the bread bowl. Best I can say, besides located on the pier, but everything is in walking distance for better. All covid precautions in place. Ate on the pier.

Highly recommend coming here! Irma was great and helpful! Stop here while in Catalina Island.

This place is great for a quick lunch to go after a day activity. I ordered the regular burger and lemonade average cost under $10 meal. My burger was served on a whole wheat bun and ate at the side tables on the pier. Staff counter lady was nice. There is a No Cash sign but do accept card payment or credit card plus fee.

Just a fast food mexican to go stall on green pier with some seating outside. Food is just average. However, their spicy michelada beer cocktail was yummy. It was appropriately spicy and tomato flavory. Shrimp taco was just fine but tuna sandwich was not so great. Fried on the side were nice though. Nothing is cheaper on island and so do this place.

portion size is good, but food quality is not up to par. the fish was alright. not very flavorful & hard to chew. the chips were mid. the one thing that saved this meal was the tartar sauce. service was okay & seating was a bit cramped

The food is bellow average and the cashier is super uneducated. If you want to experience being a homeless and beg for your food you're welcome to come here because they treat you like trash even though you pay for there fcking extra expensive food :)

On the Green Pleasure Pier. They serve your all American foods like burgers, hot dogs, alcoholic drinks. They also have fair foods like funnel cakes & churros. & seafood items & tacos. Churro: Fresh, lots of sugar.

Cashier yelled at customers for a simple "Is there any bean in the burritos?" question. Rude attitude for mediocre food. She must have been bitter seeing tourists having fun while she have to work there everyday eating mediocre food.

I got the funnel cake with whipped cream and strawberries on the side. The funnel cake was fresh, hot, and delicious. The low rating is due to the service. The person acted like it was too complicated to put the strawberries on the side. She gave me attitude like I was crazy. It's not difficult to put some strawberries on the side. Oh and when she called my number.. she asked what did you want again on my funnel cake... how did she forget my order?? Then, I actually asked her can I have powder sugar instead of whipped cream.. she nodded yes, but gave me my original order -_______- I will definitely not come back. She lost my business.

The clam chowder is creamy and fresh, and the taquitos are super yum. Easy, quick service for a full meal or just a midday snack.

The service was friendly, and it's fun to sit and eat right on the pier, but even that isn't enough to justify more than 1 star in this case (and as you can see from my reviews, I very rarely leave negative reviews). We fell into the tourist trap. I feel like I should've known better but I guess we got suckered in by that giant "Fish & Chips" sign on the side of the green building on the pier. Besides, it's an island, so the fish & chips should be amazing no matter where you go, right? Apparently not. My husband and I both ordered the fried seafood plate which came with two pieces of fish, two shrimp, fried clams and fries. I wish I had looked at someone else's plate before choosing this. Just looking at it, I thought "These look like the slab version of cheap frozen fish sticks you get in a box at the grocery store." And yeah, I'm about 99% sure that's exactly what it was. Even the sizes and shapes of the fish pieces were almost identical, and they were covered in flat, flavorless breading. The fish itself was flavorless and on the mushy side. The shrimp was okay- standard. The clams were pretty much all breading and they were tough and chewy. Even the fries were blah. This has to be the worst seafood plate I've ever had. I'll admit the food on Catalina was disappointing overall but this was the only place we ate where we thought, "Wow that was a complete waste of money." And they charge high prices! Catalina tends to overcharge on everything but this wasn't even remotely justifiable. Total rip-off.

Damn, this entire island is fun as hell but the food here is absolutely atrocious. Buffalo burgers seemed interesting enough to try, but it was disgusting. It was just a more chewy tasteless version of a normal burger. The "funnel cake" is just some raspberries and whipped cream on some soggy substance. Couldn't finish, it was gross. Huge tourist trap.

Very average food for way too much money - very meh. Wide range of food items but everything is so expensive. It WORKS if you are visiting Catalina during this COVID time since they seem to open the earliest on the island for entree items (not basic snacks). However, if you can wait until noon or so, I would pass this place on the pier for something worth while.

So sad that this place has gone down hill. Must have new owners over the last 5-10 years. Been getting the Harvey burger for 40 year and the past few times I've been here the burger was awful. They Must be using cheap frozen burger meat that's too thin and under cooked and bread is hard. Sad I decided to try it one last time and it was still awful.

While visiting Catalina Island stop by Eric's on the pier. Fish and chips were good, while the fish tacos were excellent. Skip the funnel cake.

Paid almost $50 for 2 Cheeseburger "combos" that were the size of a kids meal. Small drink, small burger, and a hand full of fries. They love to take advantage of tourist, I feel bad for the actual people who live here.

Love Eric's on the pier because it's a nice place to quickly grab something after walking around for a bit. Service was great, one of the ladies working was so kind and made our funnel cake last so it would be fresh after we finished our other food. The food is definitely expensive though, but so is every other place in Avalon.

Breakfast sandwich with Ortega chile... Muy Delicioso!!! Mmm.... crispy bacon, green chile, and freshly cooked eggs with cheese on sourdough bread. It's grilled and the bread is buttery and crunchy !For 10.75 it's the best tasting breakfast deal on the island!!!

This place is downright gross. I'm pretty sure everything is freezer food marked up 500%. At least they have a super cool location on the Avalon pier you'd get no where else. Only go here if you're coming drunk from Luau Larry's

Great spot on the pier to hangout in Catalina. Food was ok- not a big salsa fan. Wine and beer only.

The cashier was rude and unprofessional. Disappointed. The menu was unclear, cashier unhelpful and useless.

Catalina is such a beautiful place--so much so, that, when having given Eric's a fair try, we had had ideas of enjoying something deliciously Catalina-fitting, something equally eager to bask away in the sunshine, something equally thirsty for some sand-in-your-toes-and-a-beer-in-your-hand relaxation. But Eric's doesn't see things that way, I guess. I mean, it's right up there on the pier, sittin' pretty--a prime spot, if you ask me. And since, in the name of tourism, Eric's has bumped up its prices anyway, why not then offer something unique, something creative and thoughtful, something inventive and colorfully appealing? Instead of simply dousing those aged tortilla chips with bagged nacho "cheese" sauce, humor me a little: garnish with a few opposing textures and flavors, something that plays well with the creaminess of the orange stuff overpowering my chips, something that... Or, maybe not. Maybe Eric's knows better.
